#eris's hounds

Lots of fan art depict Eris with dobermans and don't get me wrong, it's a vibe (I loveee dobermans), but as a dog groomer and a dog person myself, I started thinking and came to the conclusion that he would have hunting dogs.

So here are some dog breeds I think would suit him.

Polish hunting dog

Medium sized scent hound originating from Poland (duh) is praised for it's stability, bravery and agility. Fun fact (or not, I guess) the breed almost went extinct after WWII.

German Shorthaired Pointer

Medium sized pointers used for hunting and retrieving on land and water. Beautiful specked coat in autumnal colours. They are obedient, energetic, social and with good training, well mannered. Great with nosework.

Bavarian Mountain Hound

As a scent hounds they are used to trail wounded game. They are calm, persistent, very attached to their family, yet reserved with strangers.

Russian Hunting Sighthound aka Borzoi

Noodle bois, know for their long noses, large, elegant built and luxurious silky coat. They were used for wolf hunting so they are fast as fuck boi. Don't let their calm temperament fool you, because they can be very stubborn and require patience in training. They are also cunty and glamorous (just like Eris).

Gordon Setter

Originally, I wanted to include Irish Setters, but found their personality too bubbly. Gordon Setter, bred in Scottland to hunt gamebird (turkeys, pheasants etc). They are strong willed, intelligent and affectionate. They are quite sensitive so they need firm, but gentle handling.

Dachshund aka Sausage Dog

I know what you're gonna say, but hear me out! They are clever, courageous, vigilant, strong-minded and tend to be aggressive without proper training. They are loud and standoffish towards strangers. Weiner dogs were bred to be independent hunters of dangerous prey. What more can I say, sausage bois are FIERCE, ICONIC, CUNTY and so should they owners be. It takes someone with enormous cojones handle them.

So here it is, hope you like it. I would love to see your suggestions.

Elucien Week 2024 - Day 7: Tension/Healing

You little foxes at @elucienweekofficial knew exactly what you were doing when you chose to celebrate Elucien in the summer. And in the same week as my birthday, no less.

It seems fit, then, that I was able to overcome my almost one-year-long slump by writing an Elucien OS set in the Day Court.

For anyone who should stumble upon this post before reading Splendor Solis, stop now and open AO3, then come back here; I'll include a link in the end notes.

To those of you who have already read it, please hit the button that will show you the entire post and let me yap a little about what this story means and how it relates to Under the Stars.

First things first: the title. Splendor Solis literally means "The Splendor of the Sun" and refers to an omonymous alchemical text from the 16th century. I found out about it when I was researching the title of my upcoming Elucien longfic, which I eventually named Sol niger, "black sun". Since Splendor Solis is an illuminated manuscript, there's a handy little image of the black sun that suits this whole vibe just fine:

And also, you know, Day Court = sun. It's as simple as that.

Another Latin name in the story is Stella Maris, which is an epithet attributed to the Virgin Mary and means "Star of the Sea", referring to Her protection over fisherman and sailors.

(I'm pretty sure the church near the beach I'm writing this post from is dedicated to Maria Stella Maris, but I'm too lazy to check.)

In my fanon, Stella Maris is the name of the High Lord's palace in the capital of the Day Court. More on this in Sol niger — which, to be honest, could be said about the whole story.

Speaking of which, the reason why Lucien and Elain have a dog named Astra (derived from aster, "star" in Ancient Greek) will also be explained in Sol niger, as well as why Elain and Lucien had to go to the Day Court and how Eris finally came to be High Lord of Autumn.

Laoise — an Irish name pronounced "Lee-sha" — is, of course, the Lady of the Autumn Court. I chose Irish names for every unnamed Vanserra, since the Autumn Court is Irish/English-coded in my mind. Don't ask me why.

Splendor Solis is set, more or less, a decade after the events narrated in Sol niger. This timeline has allowed me to write about Elain and Lucien as an established couple, who have already overcome any and all major obstacles in their relationship and have, in one word, healed. Therefore, I think it's a fitting story for Day 7 of Elucien Week, even if it's more an introspective/worldbuilding piece more than something centered on Elucien themselves.

I put together every post I made about Sol niger under this link, if you're curious and would like to know more; I already had many occasion to talk about the Mediterranean elements (especially Italian, since I'm Italian myself) I decided to include in the story and use as basis for my worldbuilding.

Hello there Anon!

So as you may or may not have seen, there have been a few asks for me to write more about princess Eris. In this fic, Eris oh so sweetly and innocently asks Cassian to walk their dogs. (Side note Eris is not innocent AT ALL.)

These pups are always absolutely precious perfect little angels for Eris right? How bad could it be? So Cassian, wanting to please his partner, obviously agrees.

But oh, if Eris hasn't told those dogs to be absolute ASSHOLES as punishment for something (tbd). The walk is COMPLETE ANARCHY. Cassian is an absolute wreck and Eris has to go save him. Cassian then promises to take care of Eris do whatever else he wants if Eris agrees to never make Cassian walk those dogs again.

That's it. That's the idea.

Don't cross Eris or it may come back to bite you! I hope that we get to see more of Eris and the Autumn Court in the next book. Seeing him in his element, especially as we gear up towards another war, is going to be so interesting.

Azris fic idea

Azriel and Eris are finally at the stage in their new relationship where they’re bold enough to sleep in the same bed.

Azriel doesn’t even touch Eris until he gets impatient and hugs him. Azriel absolutely melts and falls asleep so fast.

They both sleep fantastically that night, but come morning Azriel doesn’t wake up. At first Eris panicked, but upon further inspection he realizes that Azriel is in the deepest sleep ever.

On Az’s end, laying in that bed is the warmest he’s ever been and he hasn’t had a full night sleep in who knows how long— once he closes his eyes, he’s out.

He sleeps nearly three whole days, when he finally wakes up he doesn’t know where he is but he’s never felt more relieved.

I can't get Tamlin x Eris as mates out of my head. It's a big fuck you to the IC (and even the magic of the lands is involved). The two powerful people they screwed over are mated now?? And imagine Lucien rejecting his bond and Nesta doing the same. Them as friend is good but them as mates? It will be glorious! We know each of them are a ride or die person. Nesta will have a partner who reads! and has a fucking brain. She will have two brothers-in-law who own a huge fucking library. We know there will be drinking games around who was done dirty the most. At some point Tamlin is going to whip out his fiddle and Eris is showing off his dance moves until Nesta joins, next thing you know they are competing, and I'm talking riverdance guys. I don't know where I was going with this but tell me you get the vision!

Now I need to insert the Valkryies here somewhere.

Azriel quickly stood, knocking Eris’s hand away from the wound and blinking as the room swam into focus. It felt like his limbs were filled with air—he was so light he wondered if he was floating a bit. Rhys’s special High Lord healing magic didn’t feel like this. This was fun!

“Sit back down, you’re not healed yet.” Eris growled at him. 

Always so growly and grouchy. Hmphf.

“I feel fine ,” Azriel drawled, uncaring about the bloody footprints he left as he made his way over to the body. More blood still leaked from his side but it hardly felt like a scratch.

Hmmm, I don’t remember the room looking this… bubbly. Azriel swayed to a stop.
