ok but how about we talk about The Tearsmith. like bro, it was so cute, sad, disturbing and emotional all at once. actually had to take like three brakes while watching it

Just watched the Netflix movie adaption of "The Tearsmith" and it was great!!! 😀 It's based off a popular Italian YA novel by Erin Doom that finally was translated to English and came out in multiple countries over the past year and done by Netflix Italy, which also makes the show I love too "The Law According to Lidia Poet", telling the story of two teens and their dark love story after they're both taken out of an orphanage they and the other kids were abused at. It is very heavy but also beautiful as Nika and Rigel find love, safety, hope, friendship, and redemption for themselves and each other. They relate their lives to the fairytale of The Tearsmith, a smith that could create crystal tears for those who can't express their emotions. The kids are led to believe Rigel is The Tearsmith but they've been lied to and hurt so much that it takes them working together to realize what really happened to them and all the lies told. I loved the imagery too of light and darkness intertwining together, Nika being a butterfly/moth drawn to Rigel's star/flames, the meanings of the color of roses and having thorns, how the princess shouldn't be attracted to the wolf but they're supposed to be together, and her necklace. Just so well done.

Also reccing both the movie and book for my fellow Haladriel shippers as this fully felt like a YA AU of them for all the reasons listed above and especially the ending. Being part Italian too I also felt connected with it for that as well.

Incastonava negli occhi delle persone le loro lacrime con ciò che contenevano e quello era ciò che la gente piangeva: rabbia, disperazione, dolore e angoscia.

Erano passioni laceranti, delusioni e lacrime, lacrime, lacrime. L'artigiano infettava un mondo puro, lo tingeava dei sentimenti più intimi e estenuanti.

If I were a teen, I'd be watching this on repeat.

It's so melodramatic.

This is the second southern European movie with ghostly pale, white-haired people. Is that an omen or some folk tale over there. I think little Adeline is the actress who played Tina in Tin + Tina

But like, I love how soft Rigel is with Nica.

He looks so much like Michael Jackson.

Too many metaphors!

I love Anna. I wish we'd seen more of her and Norman.

The father did that on purpose. They were on an open two lane road. He could've moved left or right and gotten out of dodge. He had ample time and space.

If I had a penny for every time I wondered where the parents were, I'd have a dollar. They just let these horny teens have free reign of their house.

Lionel is so up in arms about them being siblings. Like, why? Nica and Rigel have been friends for a decade before the idea of them being siblings even existed.

I wish she'd have saved herself from Lionel. Then Rigel comes in and finishes him off.

I can't believe I, of all people, am saying this, but it needs to be two hours. So much is missing and unanswered.

And no, I'm not reading the book.

Don't kiss people in their sleep.
