Clementine always woke up early.

For a variety of reasons.

Sometimes, she wanted to get started.

There’s a lot to do with so many kids to handle.

But sometimes, it wasn’t because she couldn’t sleep.

Or get back to sleep.

Or stop the dreams.

The nightmares.

Those days were like Louis had a sixth sense.

And somehow, he always knew,

The instant he first greeted her.

“Morning, gorgeous.” Louis greeted.

Clem rolled her eyes and chuckled, 

Preoccupied with tying her boot on one of the outdoor benches.

“So uh,”

Louis leaned against he bench as he spoke,

Watching as his girl finished her knots.

“Why are you up so early?”

Clem tensed. “No reason.”

“Clem,” Louis’ voice was genuine -

The tone he used when he wanted to be taken seriously -

And her shoulders fell.

“I couldn’t sleep.”

Louis tsked, playfully wagging a finger.

“Go back inside.”

Clem chuckled. “What?”

Louis slowly removed the axe from her hands,

As she was getting ready to collect firewood for the day.

“Go back inside to sleep. I’ll take care of this.”

Clem’s eyes softened,

Arms falling to her sides.

“Louis….”

“You need rest to do good work.”

He dipped in to place a quick kiss on her forehead.

The two smiled, sharing a brief, warm moment,

Cheeks pink,

Before Louis shooed her away.

“Go. Sleep.”

As dorky as it was, Clem chuckled to herself and wandered back inside.

He was always passionate about taking care of her.

As hard as it was for her to open up to,

Clementine was learning to love it.

Louis had a habit of playing with Clem’s hair whenever he needed her attention.

“Hey, I need some help.” He began,

Slipping forwards,

Brushing her fingers around one of her pigtails.

Clem chuckled. “You know how I feel about my hair.”

“It’s special, I know,” Louis said with a smile.

Clem smiled to herself and continued her chores -

Preoccupied with dish duty.

“You should let me cut it sometime.”

Clementine froze.

She stopped doing the fishes and turned,

Stunned,

To face her partner.

“Really?”

He shrugged, almost meekly. “I know how much it means.”

His voice was low,

Almost cautious.

“I know you haven’t trimmed it for a while. I can help.”

There was a single beat of silence,

Clem’s jaw agape.

“You know, if you trust me to.” He finished.

He was so genuine and meek.

It was beyond sweet and endearing.

It made Clem’s heart swell.

“Of course I do.”

All Louis could do was smile.

Every time Louis had to cook dinner, he insisted on making Clementine’s favourite.

“No. Not rabbit stew again.” Owen insisted.

Louis scoffed. “Why not?”

Clem, within earshot, smiled,

The tips of her ears burning [pink,

Flattered at his insistence to treat her.

In comparison, Clem always tried to indulge Louis whenever she could.

Segway him in.

Lead into his joke.

“Please, no one has a better aim than me.”

Willy beamed with cockiness and pride.

Clem scoffed.

“I don’t know about that,”

She sighed, teasingly,

“I’ve heard Louis’ is a lot better…”

She dragged off,

Allowing Louis just enough time to load up food on his spoon,

Aim,

And launch it right onto Willy’s nose.

All the way from across the table.

The table erupted in laughter and under the table,

Louis gave her hand a thankful squeeze.

The two weren’t attached at the hip,

But they were whenever they had free time.

During the day, it would be hard to tell they were a couple.

They operated as though they were co-workers,

Working for the greater good.

The instant they were off the clock, that all changed.

Sure, every day was life or death.

But for a few hours every now and then,

It was just the two of them.

Marlon: "NOT ON MY WATCH!!! I pissed on every single one of these walls, this is MY house, so you play by MY rulez! No unequal pillowposession!"

Marlon: "..."

Clem: "...you pissed on the WHAT-"

just realized that the kids at ericson didn’t stay without an adult that long – miss martin died when they abandoned the greenhouse, and violet said that she went to work at the greenhouse when the twins were captured soooo… that’s actually like less than a year without an adult before the start of the game

but also that might just be a timeline mistake cause mitch said that “she’s been dead for years” ?

unless the lab was abandoned before the front part of the greenhouse, which doesn’t make much sense cause there weren’t any walkers on the actual lab where ms martin was found dead, all the walkers were on the greenhouse.

then what would make sense in this case is that ms martin lured the walkers to the greenhouse then locked herself on the lab- WHICH ALSO DOESNT MAKE SENSE cause there was a locker blocking the door to the lab from the outside.

then what would make sense is that she did that, and then the kids put that locker there and kept the greenhouse running, and then the place was overrun again some other time ?

or maybe it’s just a timeline mistake thing. oh well

people who think clem surviving makes no sense are so funny. "they were literally foreshadowing her death the entire season" let me introduce you to the concept of a red herring. she tells lilly she isnt lee and shes right. the narrative was forcing her down that path, a path she saw as an inevitable fate waiting to take her too, but its a narrative broken by aj, who is also his own person and not S1 clem

"it happened to lee, and itll happen to you" lilly tells clem she'll die protecting aj from some mistake he makes, when in reality his defiance of her will is what saves her life after she had already accepted her fate. he breaks clem free from the lee cycle and they get their relatively happy ending. good for them

Who cuts whose hair in Ericson? Do they have one assigned barberer or...?

for the younger kids, i think it depends on who they’re closest to: mitch cuts willy’s hair, violet cuts tenn’s, clementine cuts aj’s.

marlon cuts his own, he doesn’t trust anybody else near it (not that anybody else really wants to get near it either).

louis is definitely ericson’s unspoken assigned hairstylist though. it starts as violet and louis’ thing — he offers to cut her hair and doesn’t do a half bad job, so she keeps going back. the other kids start to notice that he’s pretty good at the task and start going to him too.

objectively, i think clementine would ask violet to cut her hair, but i can also see her going to louis depending on who she’s dating/best friends with.

I'm currently trying to finish the first part of Chapter four of my Marlon redemption fic, and there is gonna be some memory stuff.

My best friend gave me some quotes from kids that she workes with in kindergarten.

And I made an incorrect quote board of it.

Violet: "Your taste is like sand feels between my teeth."

Brody: "No thanks, I don't want the egg. I don't want to hatch a baby chicken in my tummy. How would that even come out?"

Louis: "Cucumbers are pumpkins and pumpkins are yucky, so I'm not eating them."

Mitch: "I eat everything. I'm a machine. Just not..." *stares at plate* "...that."

Minnie: "Grandma always makes pudding. Mama said to always tell her we love it. But Mama feeds it to the dog when grandma doesn't look. So I feed mine to my brother. Same thing."

the way the ericson group were at the outbreak just a bunch of troubled kids who made various mistakes or committed crimes and were judged by a system that punished and abandoned them instead of giving them the support and love they needed, are then nearly a decade later put into a situation where now they must judge a troubled child for the mistakes and crimes hes committed against them. and 5 to 3 vote them out 😭
