Nah but seriously, my mental health has been so awful lately, buuttttttt supermassive finally put The Devil In Me on playstation plus and there's no room to be depressed playing a new supermassive game!!

Maybe I just haven't deep dived enough into the fandom (I've avoided mostly all spoilers of it for literally years) but I haven't seen anyone discussing this.

I haven't finished it yet so actually begging for no spoilers! 🙏🙏

In like one of the very first houses you can discover as Charles, when you get up to the lighthouse and there's that house to the left where you climb through the window, there's a piece of paper that you can read through. It seemed like a list of just random names but one really stuck out to me

"Jeff Kolchek"

Idk just seems odd that supermassive would use such a specific last name on a character especially considering his initials also make JK and ironically the year on it was 2000. Maybe I'm just over thinking it way too hard because my house of ashes obsession is downright making me crazy. But also like- Jason's brother???????

Some years before Tully fled Mayfield and SOCKS, a student by the name of Eric Wilder, who was a few years their senior, left town. He is known in Mayfield as the First Dissenter. Most don’t remember his real name, and his leaving wasn’t given much attention beyond a general disgust.

Tully is treated differently because a) they are suspected to have something to do with an attack on militia student housing (they didn’t, but they know who did and is protecting them), b) they brought their gun with them (theft ig), and c) went through some lengths to hide their identity (transitioned lmao). This, and the general tone within Mayfield has become more heightened and hostile since Eric’s departure.

The entire situation surrounding Tully’s desertion is like extremely traumatic, and despite only meeting Eric once before he left (and immediately taking a strong disliking to him) they sort of begin to cling onto his image/what it represents. They begin to receive more and more communication from the mother of pearl and has issues differentiating anxiety and delusion from omens and intuition.

By the time the story begins, they’re mostly over this jump and mentally healthier, but this sortof flies out the window upon boarding the Dolphin for a number of reasons, the most important being that members of their squad from home have employed a Chameleon (and. Someone else..) to try and lure them into a trap and take them home. Not knowing anything about them post-departure, they first attempt to get their attention by taking the form of Eric, the only other dissenter at the time of Tully’s departure. it works, but Tully catches on fairly quickly that whatever ‘Eric’ is up to is something they do not want to be involved in. His reappearance, however, as well as the fact that Tully meets his supposed partner (real) on the ferry, basically sets the tone for the rest of the voyage, and they revert back to a very obsessive-compulsive, paranoid state of mind which only really benefits them once.

Post-all of that, Tully ends up meeting Eric. He’s a much kinder, well-adjusted person after leaving Mayfield, and he’s the first thing that gets Tully interested in trying to influence the politics of his hometown

how many different devil fruit powers are there in one piece, really? they all sound incredibly zany but all make perfect sense in the context of that world. from the get go you have luffy who’s made of rubber so right then you’re ready to accept whatever comes next. buggy’s body can come apart. ace is made of fire. that one guy from the dragon filler arc can turn air into blades. crocodile said alexa play sandstorm by darude. volume 10. chopper’s a reindeer human doctor guy. wapol gave a whole new meaning to you are what you eat. another guy turns into a jackal and another into a falcon. and you just roll with it. and bonkers as they can be they can all pose a serious threat! next they’re gonna be like “yeah this is tim, he ate the toot-toot fruit and farts mustard gas.”
