Presenting one of my favorite throuple dynamics: Meowrails + Eridan~! This triad friendship could've been so great :,o

Nepeta may have been the one who 'adopted' both Highbloods to look after them, but the both of them also settle into a deep understanding of one another, turned friendship as they continue hanging out.

They've felt lost as they've lost their status and the future promised to them. They're like old men reminiscing shit that was never great anyways, learning to move on and gaining more empathy together as if it's a new scientific discovery that they have to share among themselves lol.

Nepeta feels really happy that they can get along, and they feel indebted to her for always looking after their wellbeing.

Powerful image time: Younger Nepeta and Equius meeting together for Nepeta's first ever Tea Party with her first ever friend-guest!!!

Equius was dressed incredibly dapper by his lusus, clothes that get soiled anyways with the cave floor.

Equius is very nervous as he tries to hold the tea cups, but they keep breaking.

He apologizes and his body trembles. He looks so uncomfortable.

Nepeta feels sorry for him, gives him pats and comes up with the idea of holding the cup for him and 'feeding' him.

Equius is so embarrassed and flustered by such a ridiculous suggestion, but Nepeta 'tsks' his adamant refusal away by saying she worked very! Hard! On this tea and added lots of milk for him!!! He better drink it! >:V

At the risk of losing his one and only moiral/friend, he agrees, and she gives him lil sips of it while prattling on, making conversation about their hobbies.

Equius really liked the tea and the day was well spent.

The thing with Equius is that he doesn't really apologize that often. He feels the guilt sure, but it usually takes a big fight for him to actually apologize properly.

It's just his pride, but at the same time he does find having the need to beg for your forgiveness quite appealing.

Either way, it might often take him a while before he gets to it. And even then he just can't find the words.

Just having you look at him with that angry look, it sometimes makes him want to argue with you just to see that look on your face more often.

So in this moment he could do only one thing that'd give him a win regardless of the outcome: kiss you and say he's sorry.

If it works, yay you're no longer fighting.

If it doesn't, yay you're still fighting. But he'd try to find a good way to apologize eventually because he doesn't want you being mad at him for too long.

We all know why we like fluffy meowrails, but lately, I've been particularly thinking about the delicious angst potential for them. It got me to wondering:

What if SGRUB never happened?

What did Equius hope would happen? That his moiral would stay docile and obedient forever? That no other highblood would ever take interest in them? And about their different lifespans, how long this could feasibly last?

Eventually, almost inevitably, Nepeta would end up dying first. Then what, Equius? I like to think he wouldn't accept her departure. That her impact on his life was too deep for him to give up just like that, and he spends the rest of his days trying to find ways to make her come back. Through robots, through time machines, and maybe even god games.
