German Character Set for Commodore Plus/4
This is a switchable kernel for the Commodore Plus/4, which includes the original kernel and a kernel with a German character set. The EPROM must be installed in the computer, and the kernels can be switched using a toggle switch. It is a 32KB EPROM 27256, with the patched kernel located in the first 16KB. The image can also be tested in the VICE emulator.
Along with the EPROM, keyboard stickers were provided to be applied to the Plus/4 keyboard. The character set does not work with the Plus/4's 3+1 software package, but it is functional in BASIC and also in Script Plus.
I have uploaded the EPROM image to Archive.org

The classic EPROM!
Each of these chips has a meg or so of computer memory, Only erasable by shining ultraviolet light through the top window. They were used to store operating systems in computers (and some synths), game software in arcade machines, among other uses.
In modern electronics they have been mostly been replaced with the E-Eprom, which stands for electrically erasable programmable read only memory. A phrase which I manged to impress one of my collage professors by recalling without hesitation at 8 am.
In music, you see these quite often in 80s synths. the need for stable memory was higher then in computers of the time, so they often had more rom and less ram. For example, Most wave table synths had several eproms for wave form memory.
In the 90s you see a shift to non rewritable masked proms, driven by japanese companies (mostly yamaha). these proms offer more memory per chip, and the best long term stability, but require more testing, and large production runs.

For when you need to burn an EPROM that requires supplemental voltage, but the heavy bench supply is WAY over there...

Out of the Vortex - Unreleased Sega Mega Drive game!
Presenting, the long lost “Out of the Vortex” for the Sega Mega Drive. This one was made possible by none other than Pipozor himself, one of the developers who worked on this never-before-seen, almost completed game for the Sega Mega Drive! Now presented for the first time in a more complete form, it’s time to tell the tale of a game that was once never seen or heard of outside of those select few who had a chance to work on this almost complete game.
A HUGE thanks to @Pipozor for sharing this prototype as well as some other goodies for this release. Included is the source code, the possible last build of the game, as well as a bonus - not one, but three prototypes of the unreleased Sega Saturn port of Hard Boiled! This is another one of those herculean articles, so sit back and enjoy the read! A huge thanks to @dillydylan for getting him in contact with us for making this all possible!
Enjoy and have a great month of July! 🌞 😎
