oh im conflicted... this made me so mad in confidential but also the telepathy scene is a cool scene. seeing the doctor's loneliness come to the forefront is cool. the mechanism of that being kind of accidental is cool. telepathy has been done before in these 2 series and it's always cool.

but also like "the One Super Special Girl who actually knows what it's like to be the doctor" is such nonsense in general (what does that even mean. ) but specially about a privileged "icon" like reinette it's like... does it just mean that "they're both very talented at many hobbies!" it's such, nonsense. i dont buy for a second that reinette (As she's written here, talking specifically about the fictionalization and not the real person) could "understand" what the doctor is about. we get some slight moments of her being "a leader" (of sorts) (1 time basically telling people to calm down) and also someone who's kind of smart/takes things in their stride. but... crucially not someone interested in helping "the little guy" or with a curiosity for the world around her. really such a fundamentally un-doctorish character that just makes this whole "ooo they share a Deep Connection and its Love At First Sight" the crew was going for ring rlly hallow. but i do like the visual. im not so sure im into the "olala" innuendos from reinette about it....but in theory i like the idea of a "person "ahead of her time" from the past does wrong by her circumstances meets time traveler who validates their Wacky Ideas / Spirited Attitude"

i would just,,, argue maybe not show someone like the a high member of the french royal court??? to do that device??? ,,,, (also not when rose-colored-elephant in the room is there there... doing the same plot much more successfully......)

if yesterday you had presented me with PARTIZAN 33 and Twilight Mirage 53 and asked me which one was the more stressful listening experience, i would have absolutely said PZN 33 no contest but toDAY?? absoLUTELY TM 53 because, instead of staring into middle distance on the couch because i was too stressed about the Glory fight to embroider, i had to be at WORK and acting LIKE i was working when "Our Flaws In A Vacuum, or The Promise We Made To Each Other" started playing!

There is so much subtext here and I just keep coming back to it.

At the highest level—Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress—isn't that, at its core, just the moral conflict of the entire series, for almost every character we see?

"Progress," of course, means different things for different characters—and the type of love/legacy they sacrifice changes accordingly. But it's a change we see from start to finish, and the motivator to every character arc we're introduced to. And within that, there's a lot of arcs we don't have full visibility into; instead, we just get glimpses of what may have been, what might have happened, etc. through other characters' interpretations/dialogue.

Singed could be speaking about anyone here. But he's had this conversation before. Moments before this, Singed tells Viktor that he knows the look of a doomed man. And then he gives his warning—because he's seen the cycle of what a man willing to do anything will result in. He, in some ways, has already enabled this cycle before: in himself—and, we can infer, in Silco.

The natural assumption to make is that Silco's relationship to Singed became what it is immediately following the fight in the river.

They could have known of each other before—Silco, the revolutionary within Vander's freedom-fight; Singed, the "mad doctor" who parted ways with Topside, who Fissurefolk only went to when they had nothing else to lose. And maybe Silco went to him immediately, because he didn't know what else to do: barreled through his door, soaked and shell-shocked and covered in blood, a knife shaking in his palm, like he'd barreled through his door with Jinx. Or maybe he waited, holed up and hid until the rot spread, until he'd been all but driven mad by it, and he wavered in like a wraith in his doorway, hollow-eyed and haggard—and Singed had this very same conversation with him. Wagged a vile of Shimmer's earliest strand in his face, and asked, Are you sure this is the path you want to take?

The irony here, of course, is that the narrative sets us up to believe that a man willing to do anything will stick to that cycle, from beginning to end—and, as Singed shares from his own past with Viktor, will sacrifice love and legacy for the sake of progress.

But in Act 3, Silco shows up on his doorstep, again—spits, You think I can't see that? when Singed says Her injuries are severe—and Singed makes that little hum. Surprised, almost. Because here is a man who built an identity on the back of doing whatever he must to achieve progress, to fight, to survive; who has found family, found love and legacy, again.

Only now, that's a sacrifice he's not willing to make. And maybe Singed knows that, sees it, before he does, himself.

Just like he knows Viktor is more doomed that he'll let on—that he's willing to do anything he must, to progress their research and battle his own illness, his own rot—and that he's setting off on the same path, the same cycle, here again.

Would you say you are happy with how you did in secret life?

Episodes 1-8 yeah, episode 9 nah

A bit of BTS is that we filmed 8/9 together but we started filming 9 at about 10:15pm and I was at the yogs office where I was told lock up happened at 11:15 so I realistically had to be wrapped by 11 to properly shut down and get my things together

It's why I had such a lame death and played what looked to be foolishly at the end. It's also why I wasn't very 'present' in my usual persona, it was horrible having to be so mindful of the clock.. never again!

I'd just done a 2 hour drive, then a panicked hour of altering an existent PC setup to be recording ready, then one whole session, followed by what would be ep 9.. After a 7am wake up with the little ones, that all meant I was SPENT by the evening. Long ass day.

So I'm disappointed in my finale on all fronts, massively, but it's the first (and hopefully only) time that's happened so I can't complain too much.

I had thought I could salvage it in the edit a bit more but once I did the rough cut it became apparent that I just didn't have much to work with so I couldn't muster that motivation to even try..

I hope y'all enjoyed the other 85% of it regardless as I was really proud of that!

(I pinky promise I'm cool with it and I have a sense of relief knowing I'm done with recording sessions for 2023 now, you don't need to gas up the finale for my sake. It's mechanically a weak video so please don't lol)

It's when Sanji runs to you in panic that you start panicking yourself, too.

Without much words, the chef leads you to the bow of Thriller Bark, where your crew's swordsman is doused in blood from head to toe. Roronoa Zoro's white Henley shirt is torn with no hopes of salvaging the cloth, and his trousers are holed in his thighs and knees. Splattered blood accompanies the grime and dirt that rest on the rocks and stones, which have dried in the past hour that the sun has been up.

Zoro stands unbothered and unmoving, but his body shakes subtly from the injuries he sustains. His arms are crossed over his chest, and his eyes stay firm on the forest ahead of him. You attempt to talk to him but receive no reply, even with Chopper's incessant cries in the distance.

In a few moments, Zoro stumbles on his feet, and he finally collapses, his eyes closing as soon as you catch his body. Sanji runs to his aid, and together, you haul the man into a shaded space inside the castle ruins.

The Rolling Pirates watch the scene unfold. Chopper digs into his medical kit for clean bandages, while you fetch a pail of water from a nearby well. Your hands work expertly as bandages cover the man's body in no time. His torn shirt is gone, and his trousers are covered by dampened cloth to soak up the blood.

While the rest of the crew fall on their backs in exhaustion, you sit crosslegged beside an unconscious Zoro and a napping Chopper on your lap. You lean on the stone pillar behind you, slow enough that it won't shock the rickety structure from falling down, and heave out a sigh.

"You're an idiot, Zoro," you curse under your breath as you stare down at the injured man. "You do this every time."

You know that he can't hear you, but it's a truth that you want him to know in one way or another, whether or not he's in the proper state of consciousness for it.

"I hate you, dumbass." You pout as your vision blurs from the tears that trickle in your eyes. Chopper stirs in his sleep. "And if you get injured this badly again, who's going to look after you?"

It annoys you greatly that Zoro gets himself into deep trouble that results in fatal injuries and permanent scarring on his body. Zoro hardly makes it out of a battle alive, yet he still pushes himself to live another day like it's nothing. Without Chopper around, you might not have been able to save the swordsman yourself on the countless missions you've been on with the crew.

Amid your complaints and quibbles, Zoro hears the faint tone of your voice at the very back of his head. Upon recognition, he lets himself be pulled into a deeper sleep, knowing full well that he's safe under your care.

Hot spring buddies

It was a perfect balance of a fun episode but with a lot of domesticity and quirks and all around softness. Their day to day life when they finally found some free time is truly so peaceful and harmonious. They're just attuned to each other. Mischievousness and teasing is always present, they just can't get enough of having fun together.

JK was like: "Excuse me? You went with MY friends? Not ME? What am I chopped liver? 7 years ago you say? OK FINE

The whole ski part of the episode looked so fun. I'm sure they had a blast. This is officially the best activity they've tried during this series.

It was so adorable them continuously falling and getting up. Even the crew kept on falling. The snow must've been so thick.

I wish sapporo would last forever. Weeks passed by so quickly. Why is it only one episode left? And then we're never seeing them again until next year (at least we have hobis discharge and the bts eps)
