I am once again asking.meme why The Stars at Night is one of the singularly greatest episodes of all Trek???????
I am such a sucker for big space battles and the current Trek era has delivered on that a few times, but this one might be my very favorite one. Like the moment when all the ships drop out of warp makes me absolutely lose it. I can count on one hand the number of TV shows that have made me cry, but this episode makes me cry every time specifically at that point????
The moment where one of the yellow Cali class ships physically blocks Cerritos from the Aledo??? And where Mariner uses Petra's little ship to block and destroy that last shot??? The choreography of the whole battle scene both at Douglas Station and then after the Cali class ships show up is just so, so good.
AnD tHe CaLi cLasS cHaNT?!?!?!?!
The meta implications of how fast the Cali class arrives is wild-- it's said a few times that Cali class ships are kind of junky and old, and when Freeman asks for maximum warp, Boimler says he's engaged warp 8... the Cerritos maxing out at warp 8 before severe damage to the struts and core (as Billups says and as visually shown) makes it significantly slower than the Intrepid class, because Voyager maxed out at warp 9.975 unless you want to be a salamander, and Voyager was about ten years out of date from Federation tech by LD s1. Voyager got Borgified, of course, but it's specifically said at least in the 5x23 Voy ep Relativity in one of the 2371 scenes that that's its specs before launch and thus before Borgification, though 2x15 Threshold establishes it can't travel over 9.95 for more than a short period of time. We don't actually know when the Cali class or the Cerritos itself was launched, but they're canonically aging noticeably by the early 2380s.
TL;DR If the Cerritos pushes past warp 8 and sustains considerable damage doing it, it's presumably very dangerous to do that yet the Cali class arrives extremely quickly to their defense, despite not all being close by. It's For the Narrative of course, but still. It's arguable that all of those crews took a significant risk to save the Cerritos, and that just makes me need to scream into the void for a hot minute.

ok i’m going out on a limb here, but i think the reveal ep is 5x24 👀
bc i was keeping up with the airing news & such, and for whatever reason we’re getting 5x21, 5x22, AND 5x24 soon… but no mention of 5x23. it makes me think that either it’s not done, or… it’s a very important episode ❤️🤞
and it’s titled “revolution” 😭
Interesting theory.
Guess we will have to wait and see

instead of Cade and his father, why can't we just see more of the characters we already know? I wanna know what's up with Dr Chu. have we ever even seen him without a mask, outside the OR? gimme more of Nolan and his stupid shit. give Jessica more screentime. what about Devon's residents? I don't want new characters until they take care of the existing ones.

What happens between Conrad and Billie in this episode?
Hi, Anon!
Well, nothing really special, unfortunately:(
But they were staying together during the AJ mom’s funeral and had a small conversation. Billie asked him about Cade (new girl, I finally can remember her name) and if everything is okay. She doesn’t know about the story with mafia, so can’t wait to see her reaction.
Actually, the moment was beautiful, you may see the screenshots 💔
And can’t wait to see 5x22 where Billie realises her feelings. About what? We don’t know it.. But I should mention one interesting fact - we’ll see Nick in the next ep (5x23) and she is going to tell Conrad to keep living his life and to let her go. Is there any connection?

sorry if you’ve answered this before, i couldn’t find it.. but do you have a list of summer or spring gossip girl themed episodes or any episodes that have those vibes? thank you!!
it’s okay, i’ve never answered any questions like this at all! gg is such a ~seasonal~ type of show; it’s so much fun to rewatch based on the time of year. generally, if you’re looking for spring/summer vibes, stick to the first 4-5ish eps of a season and the last 1-2 eps of a season! i’ll list the ones that i personally heavily associate with the warmer weather.
some eps i’d consider “spring” episodes: 1x02 (does not at all take place in the spring but the pastel colours of this are very april/may for me), 1x15, 2x21, 2x23, 2x24, 3x21, 3x22, 4x22, 5x23, 5x24
eps i’d consider “summer” episodes: 1x18, 2x01 (of course), 2x02, 2x03, 2x04, 2x05, 2x25, 3x01, 3x02, 3x03, 3x05, 4x01, 4x02, 4x03, 4x05, 5x01, 5x02, 5x03, 5x04, 5x05, 6x01

Just to be clear though, I’m unimpressed by Malcolm Merlyn’s death, but the episode as a whole was pretty cool. I loved Moira’s cameo, Susanna is a wonderful actress and her and Stephen really sold it in that scene. Slade was amazing. Adrian too as usual. Oliver in dad mode was great, particularly at the end.

I am straight up lying to myself...
And hoping to the TV gods that Beth and Greg have a huge plan, and that the last episodes are everything.
This all feels like a horrible surprise to us, first the show ending, now Em leaving early, but the powers that be knew this was coming all season right?! I get the impression this is no surprise to SA and EBR; they’ve had our backs from day one, rooting for Olicity and the show too. We can’t forget that. Surely they aren’t going to let the last seven years end with the terrible ending we are now all predicting?
I know there has been some horrid writing over the years, and experience tells me that I am sooo wrong, but 3x23 gave us Olicity driving off into the sunset to be together, and 5x23 gave us my most favourite season ending EVER. It’s a pipedream but SA & EBR built a ‘ship and an 8 season run on ONE SCENE. We can have the ending we NEED in 7x22. We can have that ending in the last 40 minutes or their very LAST 30 seconds onscreen together if the writers really fucking get their act together. Because we know our babies will bring it!
I don’t need you to argue with me, or prove me wrong with like science and fact and goddamn Arrow history. I don’t even need you to agree with me (which I know is a lot to ask with all the hurt at the moment). I just need hope— hope that everyone on Team Arrow (writers, actors, EPs) have this covered and once those final credits roll, imma be a mess, but for the best reason.
We have to HOPE and BELIEVE this has all been worth it. For us, for the actors, and for Oliver and Felicity.
(Pep talk over. xo)

a-bcsket-case said in response to this post, where I posted the following question: If you could change one element of the show, which would it be (other than season 8)? Examples: keeping the ‘70s socioeconomics an integral part of the show, giving the Formans more than the Pinciottis as neighbors, Kitty not becoming an alcoholic in seasons 5-7, etc.
I don't know why but I would have wanted both Jackie and Hyde present when it was time to  come clean about their relationship to Kelso instead having Donna forcing them, Hyde and Kelso to shake on it. Deep down I think it would've avoided more conflict rather than what the show kind of did by making Hyde to explain himself like he stole something of Kelso (or what used to be his, which is NOT cause relationship isn't about ownership).
Besides that I would've wanted Jackie to not try to take Hyde back after the 'Raquel' thing. I know it was kind of immature for Jackie to string along Hyde's hope of getting back together during 'Celebration Day' but punishing her by going out with another person who is nowhere near Jackie's league was kind of shitty even for him. So yeah I'm working on rewriting that episode, and possibly the whole season since I really like to see more of "Independent-Single Jackie".
That first paragraph is spot-on. I never thought about that before.
As for Jackie and Hyde’s reconciliation in season 6, I’m glad it happened, but it was so mishandled (aka badly written). Their interactions during the first few eps of season 6 present Jackie and Hyde as equally wounded parties. Hyde sleeping with the nurse is never mentioned, and Hyde acts as if Jackie pitting him and Kelso against each other in a competition for her affection is worse than him having sex with someone else as his way of a) getting revenge on Jackie (for a perceived but false slight) and b) breaking up with her.
To add further insult to injury, he selfishly pushes her to decide between himself and Kelso a week or so after the events of “Celebration Day” (5x25). There’s no remorse for how he hurt her. All he cares about in that moment (and, quite frankly, during his apology and declaration of love in “Nobody’s Fault but Mine” (5x23) is his own feelings. Not hers.
No. Just no.
