hephaestus empathizing with annabeth was probably one of the best changes they could’ve added to the show because what other god could’ve truly understood her desire to change a system so long broken that no one in their family even bothers anymore, along with the feeling of having no control over a situation that ended up displeasing their parents (hephaestus was ugly, so hera threw him off of olympus; annabeth couldn’t stop percy from mailing medusa’s head to olympus, hence athena’s wrath)

“This isn’t the Arch, seaweed brain. You’re not pushing me into the stairwell again.”
First of all, LINE DELIVERY?? Leah Sava Jeffries is an ACTRESS because ‘seaweed brain’ is actually so corny and it would simply feel like fan-service if they included it earlier or in another context but this was so natural and I was so swept up by all the other amazing things happening that I was excited about it but also keyed into the rest of the scene.
But the way this perfectly displays her fatal flaw. She will not let this boy trick her again (spoiler: he does). She was caught off guard at the Arch because she wasn’t familiar with his game but now she’s ready. She WILL die for him and that is final.
“Yes, I am.”
This was CRAZY?? Percy Jackson #1 mentally unstable man because how is he determined to win every ‘sacrifice myself’ off with her? And he says it to her face too. He does not care for the games anymore, he’s fully telling her that he needs her to live.
“I’m not going to let you this time. It doesn’t work that way!”
This made me so incredibly sad. Annabeth is still thinking in transactions. She’s thinking about how he made a sacrifice in the Arch so it’s her turn now. This is how relationships work. This is how every relationship she’s had works. She literally can’t comprehend how he doesn’t see it that way. How he could be selfless enough to sacrifice himself for her TWICE. How he could care about her enough to believe she deserves it even after she was the reason they were in the Arch in the first place (my baby my baby say it with me now you’re my baby).
“It’s why you’re here!”
“Excuse me?”
This was so soft like I just *screaming crying gif*. The last time she said ‘excuse me’ to him she was pissed off about him bringing up Athena but now she’s just confused and sad. Like, she trying to figure out what he means by this. Does he think she’s so heartless and robotic that she’d just let him die for her own gain?
I also love how they don’t have her say ‘what?’ because it just adds this extra layer of how Annabeth has trained herself to be more mature in everything she does, even her language, because she believes that if she’s not perfect, she’s not worthy of love and affection and maybe even existing (literally sobbing wtf).
“When I was choosing my team, I told Chiron I needed someone who wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice me if the quest required it. He agreed. That was you.”
I was confused at first about this because I thought Annabeth knew Percy thought this about her until I went back and watched the choosing ceremony again. He’s definitely keeping his voice lower as he speaks to Chiron and both Chiron and him are raising their voice as they address the other campers so makes sense that she wouldn’t have heard him.
But also, this just adds so much to literally everything. Because, in the beginning, Percy didn’t think him and Annabeth would become friends. He genuinely did think that she would sacrifice him if she had to and he thought he’d be able to curb it. He thought he’d be able to fight Annabeth if it came to it because she might choose the quest over his mom and he couldn’t allow that.
But now here he is, after getting to know her, and seeing her vulnerability and bravery and strength and courage and wisdom and passion and everything that makes her so beautiful and wonderful and amazing and his friend. She’s his friend and she’d never betray him. She’d never sacrifice him. She’d rather sacrifice herself before she ever did anything to harm him.
And he’s apologizing to her. Listen to the way Walker says the last line (again, THE ACTING). It’s literally a confession because he feels so bad that he ever believed that about her. And now he’s making her do it. He’s making her do this thing that he once thought she’d have done without hesitation. He’s thinking about the Fates cutting that string and he’s thinking about his own words to Chiron and how Chiron agreed and he’s thinking about how Annabeth said that prophecies aren’t always clear and he fully believes that he’s figured it out. This is fate. Annabeth would sacrifice him and complete the prophecy. She’ll be the friend that betrays him but not because she wanted to and he will fail to save what matters most, his own life.
This entire exchange was very insane. It’s my Roman Empire. I can’t stop thinking about it because it shows their motivations and their viewpoints and their internal struggles so so so well like I can’t even … I’m having a malfunction.

"gods and demigods dynamic"
one thing I found made me 'fear' the gods as a reader was seeing the way Annabeth or Chiron or Grover would address gods. I am sort of missing the use of 'lord' to refer to the gods or 'sir'.
I love the dynamic of the trio but then when they are introduced to gods so far, Annabeth has sort of become the god resistant one rather than Percy - whose real character charm is that he isn't afraid, even when its stupid - and that makes him braver in a way? Does it make sense that I feel as though some of Percy's strengths are being showcased through the other characters more to create a different dynamic. Also, them not bowing to Percy sort of signalled to me that they wouldn't respect or fear him or have much of an opinion at all about his godly parent, which has always impacted and been part of Percy's fitting in at camp as he ages through the books.
I am looking for productive discourse and fan theories. Shows have different executions and so I suspected things that were plot relevant would be distributed across the episodes, like I am hoping happens in the case of ambrosia. In a TV Show, writers make decisions so that audiences usually 'world' 'plot' 'monster of the week' relevant info in the episodes that are closer to the climax or based around that information.
HATE WILL BE REPORTED. I hate that I even have to include this sentence.

Let’s talk about “I’m Okay.”
Because I really want to talk about it:
To start, I am fully in support of the change from the metal spiders to Hera’s throne (I can explain why in a different post, but not this one because this one is dedicated to a specific part)
What I really want to talk about is Walker Scobell’s delivery of the “I’m okay” lines.
Even more specifically, his facial expressions and why their subtlety was perfect….
“It’s okay”
The first thing he says is not actually “I’m okay.” He says, “it’s okay.”
Because this is when Annabeth is second guessing the plan. She’s watching the gold encase Percy and it’s at the point where it’s clearly fully covering his legs that she tells him to move.
And he tells her “it’s okay.” It’s okay that this was the plan they made, it’s okay that this was logically the best one they had, and it’s okay that she’s standing there and not trying to help him.
And he’s not saying “you’ll be okay” because he knows she will be. To him, it’s a no-brainer. He’s telling her that it’s okay that sometimes hard decisions have to be made.
Tumblr media
While we don’t see him say that line, we can hear the tone of his voice, which is gentle and reassuring. We can also see his face afterwards. As you can see, the gold only just starting to encroach on his face and it hasn’t fully covered his upper body. When he’s telling Annabeth “it’s okay,” we can see from where his eyes are that he’s looking right at her. His eyes are reflecting light but they’re not watering yet, his eyebrows are slightly raised, and he’s still trying to smile (as seen in the corners of his mouth)
In terms of conveying emotion, raising one’s eyebrows is used to both ask for the attention of whoever you’re talking to and also to provide emphasis. Percy is making sure Annabeth is looking at his face (and not the gold) and he’s emphasizing the words as he says them.
“I’m okay” - 1
After the first “it’s okay,” Percy switches to saying “I’m okay”
Tumblr media
This first one is still him comforting Annabeth. If you think about it, the last time Annabeth watched one of her friends being transformed into something else, it was Thalia and she was gravely injured. Percy is assuring her that he’s okay. He’s not in pain, he’s not suffering, he’s okay.
We can see this in the way he’s still looking at her (direction and angle of his eyes) and way he purposefully pulls the corners of his mouth up after he says it. He’s still trying to smile for her sake.
However, we can now start to see some negative emotion in there. See how the inner corners of his eyebrows are slightly pushed downwards??? That’s an indication of sadness. He’s trying to be reassuring and smile but part of him is still sad that this is how it’s ending for him. We can also see it in the way he’s tearing up more now.
“I’m okay” - 2
This is when we see his expression changing more overtly. The first thing we can see is that he’s no longer attempting to make eye contact with Annabeth. This is when it changes to him saying it to reassure himself
Tumblr media
He’s still kind of trying to reassure her but he’s now recognizing that he needs to hear it too. It’s at this point where he actually doesn’t close his mouth between lines; it stays partially opened.
While the slightly open mouth is another indicator of fear, part of me wonders if it’s for his breathing.
When Hephaestus frees Percy from the trap, it leaves Percy gasping for air, rapidly taking deep, gulping breaths. This insinuates that, while he’s fully encased in the gold, Percy can’t breathe.
While we don’t know exactly how the mechanics of the golden throne work, it’s quite possible that, by the time Percy was repeating “I’m okay,” he was starting to feel it getting harder to breathe.
On the other hand, him having his mouth open to assumedly help him breathe easier could also be due to the fact that now he’s starting to realize just how scared he is. He’s almost entirely covered and it’s finally sunk in that this is about to be It for him and there’s no doubt that his heart would be racing, which also increases one’s breathing.
“I’m okay” - 3
The 3rd “I’m okay” is softer than the other ones and furthermore, Percy’s stopped trying to maintain eye contact with Annabeth. Now, his eyes are moving around and have an almost “far away” look in them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the time we get to this point, his face, which is the last place to be covered in the gold, is nearly covered. If he’s trying to move anything except his eyes and mouth, he can’t. This is when it’s fully setting in that he’s going to “die” and he’s scared.
Even though he asked Annabeth to come back for him after the quest, he had no way of knowing what would happen while he was trapped. Just because Hera survived it, doesn’t mean he automatically could too. She’s a goddess. So there’s still a chance that he’s never walking away from this trap, even if Annabeth frees him later.
We can see his eyes watering more clearly and one more time, we see his eyes momentarily shift to Annabeth before they move away again. He can’t help but look at her. Part of me is wondering if that isn’t for reassuring her but for needing her to reaffirm what he’s saying (such as nodding or something like that). Something to help him believe it.
Now, we don’t see his face becomes fully covered because it cuts back to Annabeth but we do see split seconds beforehand, which is where the most emotion (in my opinion) comes through, almost seemingly involuntarily.
So far, he’s been decent at keeping a relatively calm face. He’s been tearing up a bit and there’s been some small eyebrow movement, but otherwise, his gaze aversion has been one of the only significant things.
However, just seconds before he’s fully sealed in the gold, we get this almost unconcealed look of fear. His eyes are wider, his eyebrows pull in tight, his nostrils flare and he pauses for longer before he says “I’m okay again” because he knows he’s not and it’s terrifying.
He’s frozen before he can say it another time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cannot emphasize enough how much I love Walker Scobell in this role.
Congrats if you made it this far.

My thoughts on Ep.5 - A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers, A rant (Spoilers Ahead!)
First of all, the chaos with what happened in the Arch was expected, but Annabeth seeing the Fates was not expected.
Annabeth insisting that Percy is alive, and went to find him near the water.
Percy casually greeting them hi. Like he wasn’t stung by the Chimera and fell off the St. Louis Arch. This will never be not funny.
Annabeth rushing to hug Percy and didn’t even care that he was soaked.
Me, internally: PERCABETH! PERCABETH! PERCABETH! 😍🎉
Percy just now realizing that a god could not have stolen the master bolt and might have been helped by someone. Grover and Annabeth looking at him like, seriously?
This convo:
Percy: Why are you being weird with me again? I thought we’re not doing that anymore.
Annabeth: I’m not being weird.
Percy: Yes, you are. You’ve been weird since we left the Arch.
Again, that’s their relationship.
Percy assuming it’s because of the hug. And Annabeth being like, No idiot I saw the Fates! Percy, honey, you’re the one being weird about it.
At this point, Imma give Grover some popcorn while he watches them argue.
Biker Ares casually asking 3 kids if they need help. Definitely not sus.
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover hiding behind the road barrier like, uh, no, we’re good. Idk, but that’s funny to me.
Ares snorting and saying they’re behind schedule and offering to help his little cousin.
Ares immediately recognizing Annabeth as Athena’s kid. Ares being like, Omfg she sounds just like my sister. That’s definitely her kid.
So a biker offering to help 3 minors in the middle of nowhere and offering them food. In other people’s perspective, that’s definitely sus.
Ares being a Twitter Troll is something I never knew I need.
Percy and Annabeth being so unimpressed with Ares was so funny. Like, so this is the god of war? Really?
Gabe painting Percy as a fugitive, and Percy being pissed about it. Not surprised.
Ares being pumped that there’s a war coming.
Percy and Annabeth fucking ready to fight Ares, and Grover’s just there like, let’s all calm down.
You left your sheild? Like, forgot it on a merry-go-round? Girl, you’re talking to a god.
Negotiating with Ares 101:
Ares: Okay, the satyr stays here while you two get my shield.
Percy and Annabeth: No!
Grover: Okay, sure.
Percy and Annabeth: wtf
The Waterland giving off steampunk/horror movie vibes is something I’m here for.
Percy making plans to take Annabeth to see a movie in the middle of their death quest just because she admitted to never having seen one is just so sweet. PERCABETH!😍
Annabeth being fascinated by Hephaestus’ engineering.
Grover’s therapy session with Ares to get more info is also something I never knew I needed.
The f*cking Thrill Ride O’ Love! IT’S HAPPENING!
Book fans rn:
Tumblr media
Annabeth: Don’t you even try to tell me not to be weird about this.
Percy: I didn’t say anything.
Annabeth: I can feel you thinking it.
Oh, my babies. PERCABETH! 😍
Percy calling the Thrill Ride O’ Love a ghost ride is something I agree on.
The awkward silence while they ride the rowboat though, and then suddenly you hear, WHAT IS LOVE? BABY DON’T HURT ME... That shit cracked me up.
The light projections in the tunnel telling Hephaestus’ story.
The ride turning into a horror boat ride to a whitewater rafting ride was so unexpected. I’d pay to see that kind of boat ride rather than an actual tunnel-of-love ride.
Them having to jump and Percy unknowingly pulling Annabeth to safety with his water superpowers. He’s a waterbender and he doesn’t know it. LOL
Ares, the literal god of war, just ranting off to a random satyr he found in the middle of nowhere about his overachiever sister and her feathered pet will never be not funny.
Annabeth not hesitating to sit on the chair, and Percy stopping her.
SEAWEED BRAIN! SEAWEED BRAIN! SEAWEED BRAIN! SHE SAID THE THING! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
Tumblr media
Book fans:
Tumblr media
[Spoiler] To non-book-readers, that's her nickname for him.
Percabeth arguing about a life/death decision. This is their relationship.
Percy giving Annabeth Riptide. He trusts her. Aww. 😍
Percy having to sit on the chair, while Annabeth gets the shield.
Annabeth nearly backing out at the last second, while Percy assures her that he’s okay while trying not to cry.
Annabeth ignoring the shield then immediately and desperately tries to free Percy.
Annabeth bargaining with Hephaestus. Maybe, I was that way once, but I don’t wanna be that way anymore. I won’t be like all of you.
Hephaestus releasing Percy was definitely his way of saying, Girl, same. You’re a good kid. Imma make sure you’re Mom knows that.
THIS PIC! THIS IS HISTORICAL RIGHT HERE! GO BACK TO THIS POST AFTER THIS SHOW HAS SEVERAL SEASONS AND MOUNT ST. HELENS ERUPTS. *wink-wink
Tumblr media
Percy and Annabeth going back to the diner with the shield casually, and then like, we got your shield, now where tf is our ride?
Ares’ ride: The Kindness Internation truck a.k.a. illegal animals smuggling van.
Thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers and the ride! ~ Grover Underwood. Iconic!
Grover telling Percy and Annabeth about his therapy session with Ares: I know who stole the master bolt!
Of course, it’s a cliffhanger. But nothing will beat the HoO:MoA one.
Bruh, the amount of Percabeth content in this episode is just *chef’s kiss*. It’s all coming together. I can’t even fathom how much of an emotional rollercoaster I was watching this episode. It just keeps getting better and better! 😍

Hey! I saw your pjo fic list and was wondering if you could do a spoiler free list for tv show fans like maybe just book one stuff thanks!
Of course I can!
Percy Jackson TV Fic Recs (Spoiler Free)
So! the way that I've done this is divided it into two levels of spoilers. The first half will be fics that are spoiler free up to the currently released episode (as of right now, that's ep5 A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers). The second half of the list will be spoiler free up to the end of the first book, and subsequently the end of the first season of the show.
Keep in mind that most fics will be based on the books, and there may be some events that are either re-arranged, or happen differently then they may have in the show.
This list will include all ratings and tags, so read at your own discretion! Enjoy!!
Spoiler Free up to Ep 5: A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers
A Hephaestus TV Special by Alexandra989 - Rated G
Olympus tunes in to a Hephaestus TV Special- featuring Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase on the Thrill Ride of Love.
Episode Four: I Plunge to My Death by beady_toast - Rated G
He took a deep breath, counting to three before letting it go. He could see a little better now, faint light breaking through the window as the scenery whizzed past outside. The floor of the train felt hard and cold against his back, every bump sending a jolt to his heart. He opened his mouth to speak, but second guessed himself.
Annabeth still seemed to be considering whether or not he was worth keeping around at all. Grover would be insufferable. That guy (goat?) liked his sleep almost as much as he liked food.
“You asleep?” He whispered, words slipping out before he could decide whether or not he wanted to say them.
The silence was deafening, filling Percy’s ears with static. He chided himself for even thinking anyone would be awake. It was a stupid, childish–
“Yes,” a soft monotone voice replied. Percy fought the urge to smile. Silence stretched between him and Annabeth.
dangerous games // percabeth by annabxth - Rated G
percy shook his head helplessly, as if in disbelief of what she was implying. his face was sickly pale, his veins were prominent now, and his under-eyes a stark red. his face was sheen with sweat. annabeth knew he didn’t have much more time if they didn’t hurry. she moved to close the door, urging them to go, but percy called out again. “wait.” he said. he dug into his pocket. his hands trembled as he carelessly flicked the cap off of his pen, allowing it to become a sword. he offered it to her. “take this.” ~~ the arch scene in episode 4 from annabeth’s POV.
verklempt by achievingelysium - Rated T
Annabeth never liked water. ... Percy was nothing like she imagined the most important person in her life would be. He was her ticket to a quest. He wasn’t much of a reader—didn’t like books—but had sharp eyes and could think fast. Luke said he was a natural with his sword. He drooled in his sleep. He was quite possibly the most annoying person she’d ever met. And… even though she wasn’t supposed to, she liked him.
The start of a legend by Phantomxlegend - Rated G
When you just find out you’re a demigod and immediately get thrown on a world ending, life or death style quest. It can be a little stressful. Or Just some small Grover comforting Percy because y’all forgot about Grover.
A Mother's Love by wiseassrat - Rated G
"She must've loved you a lot to put up with that guy--if it makes you feel any better." Actually, that did not make him feel better. That did not make him feel better at all. Grover puts something into perspective and now Percy feels undeserved guilt about his mom. Takes place just before their first quest.
Packed and Petrified by DancingInTheSliverGlow - Rated G
In the lightning thief, Percy Jackson defeats Medusa and then promptly sends her decapitated head to the greek gods.
When the olympians got a package “best wishes percy jackson," Zeus probably said something along the lines of, "At last, my bolt! Finally, your son admits to steali-" and then gets turned to stone for like five seconds.
This is what I imagined happened, starring: Zeus mostly as a stone statue (we all like him better that way), Poseidon, Hermes, Martha & George (the snakes on Hermes caduceus).
Decided Family by greensgables - Rated G
Despite what most people might think, Grover is very aware of the fact that he doesn't have family at Camp Half Blood. Or he didn't, until Percy came around.

Spoilers For the end of The Lightning Thief! Proceed With Caution!!!!
a girl who sees it all by thesleepingsiren - Rated T
Annabeth is hyperactive and hyper-observant, and there’s something about the way Percy deflates when he thinks nobody’s watching that makes her wonder. She’s noticed things. The way he furrows his brows when praised or his wide eyes when anyone asks him to hang out or do anything besides spar. When he makes someone laugh, his eyes narrow like he’s trying to decide whether it’s with him or at him. The way his nose crinkles when he’s struggling through Homer and how he apologizes with a self-deprecating joke. How initially resistant he is to a hug or any comforting contact before he melts into it, whole body relaxing. Sometimes, when he’s lost in thought, he scratches at his collarbone—a scar she doesn’t know how he got. He has a lot of scars she doesn’t recognize, old ones. Or, Annabeth picks up on Percy's childhood, and makes sure he knows he's deserving of friendship. Set after the TLT quest but before SoM.
Styx by Soggy_Ice - Rated G
Summary
The river Styx reflected his face against its murky water. It smelled of beer, seven-layer dips, and sweat. It smelled of garbage. For a moment, Percy was Gabe’s apartment again, locked inside his temporary room for the summer while Gabe’s voice demanded for his mom’s salary, as if his mom were the one who spent every night gambling. His reflection showed a boy, knuckles white over the edge of the boat, glaring at him with the same dirty hair and glowing green eyes. He was angry. Percy didn’t realize that he was leaning over the edge until Annabeth pulled him back, raising an eyebrow. She gestured at Grover, shaken up, murmuring prayers under his breath as they made their way down the river. Right. Underworld. Meeting Hades. For the bolt. For the quest. For his mom. OR Percy and Styx bonding.
Across the Hall by Deerlie_03 - Rated T
The lives of the Jackson family pre-The Lightning Thief as told by a mortal neighbour who wants nothing but the best for the young woman who recently moved in across the hall, pregnant and without anybody in her life, and her unborn son
mundane by laruegard - Rated G
"I don't like not knowing how to do things." "Well, that's an easy fix. I'll teach you." or percy teaches annabeth how to play video games while theyre at the lotus hotel and casino.
anytime, kid. by polypanpercyjackson (ineedibuprofen) - Not Rated
“So…,” Drew drawls, motioning with her chin to Percy’s chipped blue nails. “What’s with the nails?” Percy sits across from her, glaring up at her warily, “Why do you care?”
little oracles by Arten - Rated G
I laughed. “You? An architect?” I don’t know why, but I found it funny. Just the idea of Annabeth trying to sit quietly and draw all day. Her cheeks flushed. “Yes, an architect. Athena expects her children to create things, not just tear them down, like a certain god of earthquakes I could mention.” It wasn't until Annabeth watched Percy's face crumple that she realised that perhaps accusing someone of being the ruiner of all good things just like his father, right after he admitted the lengths to which his mother had gone to protect him– from marrying an awful man to literally dying to make sure he reached Camp– was the worst possible thing she could have ever said to anyone ever. Even if he had just laughed at her for thinking she could ever be an architect.

ok now that we have episode titles i’m going to attempt to do a plot-level prediction of each episode because that’s about all i can contribute:
1. I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher:
Pretty straightforward, everything up till the Minotaur attack (ends on a cliffhanger with Sally being taken). The big action setpieces are Mrs. Dodds and the Minotaur attack.
2. I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom:
Percy wakes up, we get an intro to CHB and meet (/re-meet) Chiron, Mr. D, Annabeth, Luke, Clarisse. Luke starts training Percy and we get the capture the flag scene. Episode ends with Percy getting claimed.
3. We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium
Chiron introduces the setup of the quest, they get the prophecy, and the trio start off on the quest. We get the Fury attack on the bus, and then they visit Medusa. Episode ends with some sort of stinger - maybe teasing Ares, or showing what Luke's up to back at camp? 4. I Plunge to My Death
Based on the trailer it seems like Echidna is on the train as well, so I think she gets on at a certain stop and they get off at St. Louis to try and shake her off, but she ends up following them? Anyway, they have the fight and Percy jumps and talks to the Nereid, ending the ep. Also poodle scene please please please. Note: I guess it could also end with a cliffhanger with Percy jumping from the arch but I don't think they'll do that since it might be too scary for kids tbh. 5. A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers
Ares intro, tunnel of love scene, Ares sending them to Vegas and the trio heart-to-heart in the van. Ends with Percy's dream.
We know Hephaestus is in this season so if there's any time for him to make an appearance it would be in Waterland, maybe he appears as an automaton/hologram of himself that is automatically triggered by the ride? Or he's actually there in person... 6. We Take a Zebra to Vegas
Basically all of Lotus Casino lol. Not sure how Hermes will fit in but super curious. Would love if they had time for Procrustes but I doubt it. It's popularly theorized we'll get a Nico and Bianca easter egg, not sure where that'll be but definitely makes sense. Ends with the trio breaking out of the Lotus Casino.
7. We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of
Ok this is where things start to get messy, namely because there is a Lot of ground to cover in these last two episodes and I'm not sure how they'll divvy it up and what might get cut for time? I think this ep will definitely consist of the trio going to the Underworld and meeting Hades and finding out they were set up. From the trailer I know there's the Cerberus scene and the Tartarus scene, the interviews also mention a line of dead people waiting to enter so that definitely implies Charon. I thiiink the Ares fight will be the finale of this episode, but I also think what might happen is they'll leave it on a cliffhanger, with Percy figuring out Ares tricked them and preparing to fight him. 8. The Prophecy Comes True
Honestly, from the Ares fight onward I think it'll follow the ending of the book pretty closely. Hopefully we get a camp montage and some fourth of july scenes bc that would be SO CUTE. And top it all off with a Luke betrayal twist ending to close out the season and act as "cliffhanger" for season 2!
Conclusion
Overall, I think plot-wise there won't be much differences from the book. I have a feeling that non-book scenes/moments that the creators have mentioned will be in addition to the book canon, rather than in place of certain scenes, and will help illuminate different sides to characters that we might not get to see from Percy's POV. I am curious though, if it'll stick fully to Percy scenes or if there will be scenes he's not in and can't observe (which would be SO interesting.) I'm also so curious about what will end up on the cutting room floor just for time and pacing's sake (it better not be Procrustes or I'm showing up at Rick's door in person).

Seriously I CANNOT get over this moment. They are both so terrified and both desperate to save each other and they are only twelve years old and should not have to go through this 😭
Percy telling Annabeth “I’m okay” over and over again while he tries to not to cry WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

I think Show Annabeth’s version of what she said in the books is: “My mother is that way. He isn’t that way. He’s better than that. Maybe I was that way once, but I don’t want to be that way anymore. I won’t be like all of you.”
She went off fr, and it perfectly delivered the same point as the book version. This one was just more intense. Love to see it
Book: "I don't know what my mom will do. I just know I'll fight next to you." "Why?" "Because you're my friend, Seaweed Brain."
Show: "You've done more for me in the past few days than my dad's done for me in my entire life. If I have to stick with someone, I—" "Careful. I think you were about to call me your friend."
