UPDATE! I got permission from the wonderful Aquarium Sophia to hold my reception there! Yay! So if you already play, you can bring your mains over to do Gposes and have a grand time :)

How to participate:

If you want to join the wedding itself:

Create a free trial account for FFXIV at: https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/na/  (If you already have an FFXIV account, obviously you can skip this step)

Create a character on the Twintania server, on the Light data center, in the EU region. You must do this even if you have an account already unless you already have a character there; characters MUST be on the same server to participate in an Eternal Bonding ceremony.

Make sure your characters start in GRIDANIA. This means you will need to start as a Conjurer, Lancer, or Archer.

If you can contact myself or Kian (https://selene-ffxiv.tumblr.com/) ahead of time (via here on Tumblr, on Discord, or whatever), great! We’ll help you get set up; we’ll need to add you to one of our friend’s lists and then send you an invitation. If not, we’ll have an organization meeting at the Carline Canopy (the inn) in Gridania one hour before the ceremony starts, so we can get you an invitation and ferry you to the chapel. We can also provide you with a basic tuxedo or dress!

RECEPTION

Reception will be at Aquarium Sophia on the Materia data center immediately following the wedding. This is so that people who already play the game can bring their main characters with all their lovely outfits and such. But don't fret! Even if you're brand new on the free trial, you can still come. The link above has instructions on how to get there and we'll be happy to ferry you.

As for how to visit the Materia data center, my friend Melodic wrote up some instructions to make it easy:

If you have never been to the Materia data center before: The game will not immediately let you take a character and DC travel to Materia. It acts as though there's no road to get there. To build the "road" to Materia for your existing characters, you will need to first take your game client to Materia.

From the main game screen, click on "Data Center"

When the world map appears, click on "Oceanian Data Center", then click Proceed.

At this point, the game will connect you to the Materia DC as though you are going to create a new character.

Congratulations! You have taught your game client how to find the Materia DC, and you can now go back to your existing characters to DC travel them over to Materia and select the world Sophia. Further note: If you've done this before, you *might* need to do it a second time. Just be aware of error messages.

SEA'S COMMUNITY COMPENDIUM UPDATE

We have a massive one today! Huge thanks to a close friend of mine who sent me every single bookmark of xiv resources she had. 💖

Additionally, a good handful of these resources were sourced from a list originally created by @rinhkitty, which you can find here. I have tried to include the more recent/active of the lot, so it's not a one-for-one. Thank them for a lot of the large scale resources you'll find below! ✨

With a little convincing, and putting his charismatic skills to the test, Master Fusanosuke begrudgingly allowed Hancock to escort her without the company of his men. Of course, this was not without lacing his words with a warning, but he thought of his daughter and how she may unwind after the trek through the mountains. Though he did not know every specific detail regarding their venture, the young lady appeared to be in need of something to lighten her mood anew.

And though the beaches of Shirogane were beautiful, especially at the setting of the sun, perhaps a change of scenery was the remedy to her clouded mind. But, before they could enjoy some much-needed relaxation, he took a slight detour to the aquarium, which was part of his initial plan.

Prepared with notes regarding the exhibits they would see, he could not help but become distracted by her own marvel and unadulterated joy at seeing the variety of sea-life; he had a particular gut feeling that Mistress Kikyo had not been exposed to much of the creatures underneath the surface of Eorzea's shores.

And of course, no visit is complete without visiting a gift shop! She may have a family with deep pockets but such has not stopped him from attempting to gift her, something she may take home that would remind her of the day they spent together without strife.

Especially after he spied the attention she was giving to one of the sharks on display.

FFXIV Write, Day 28 - Blunt

Minti does a drug. Ryssthota observes - for science.

Logbook:

Documentation of the inhalation of one (1) crushed Morbol root, using "rolling papers" provided by the subject.

Intent: Determine if Blue Mage crystal ownership, combined with inhalation of root from a wild morbol root, will grant the inhaler the ability "Bad Breath."

Hypothesis: Morbol root inhalation will not produce new magical abilities in test subject. A hostile encounter is required for absorbing the morbol's aether.

Background: The Encyclopedia Eorzea tells us that "The morbol is a terrible beast that moves upon its slime-covered vines and roots. Highly aggressive, it kills both animals and plants with a combination of its noxious breath and ceaselessly flailing tendrils." (Manne 279) Of importance today is the "sweet-smelling gas" the seedkin produces, which Manne, in her Eorzea Geographic article "Morbol Physiology" (1565) says induces sleep by inhalation.

Blue Mages are spellcasters of infamous reputation, recently introduced to Eorzea and her sister nations by the supposed Mage "Martyn." Observers report that wielders of this magic, found outside the opposites of black and white magic, draw on aether from wild creatures. This enables them to, say, cast Shiva's icy bow attack, or dash forward as aggressively as Ifrit. The practice has become so popular that Ul'dah has opened a Masked Carnivale, a series of challenges for anyone interested in solving puzzling battle scenarios.

Test Subject: Our test subject for today is one Miss Minti Chocolate, a rava viera employed by Gage Acquisitions. She reports to be a semi-accomplished blue mage. "Something to do when I get beast tribe jobs," she told me before the experiment.

Method: Miss Chocolate will be seated in a colorful environment (the basement of Gage Acquisition's headquarters), given a "blunt" seasoned with crushed morbol root, and observed for five hours. Snacks and enrichment through a live aquarium will be provided as requested by the test subject.

Hour One: Subject has fully inhaled the morbol root sample. Early reactions include repeated coughing; feelings of elation; lightheadedness; and repeated staring into the observer's eyes.

Subject comments: "You are so nice. I like your hair. Why is your hair short? It is moving back and forth. *sings* 'Back- and forth. Back- and forth. Our love goooooes-"

Hour 2: Coughing has not stopped, although there is a pause of five minutes in between bouts. Subject is fixated on the live aquarium, and is attempting to feed the "fish with Thancred's face" some of the provided snacks, specifically the bowl of peanuts.

Subject comments: "Nuts. Nuts. Macadamia nuts. Pistachios. Why do nuts taste like nuts? Nuts are nutty nut nuts. NUTKIN! Thancred has a nutkin. NUTS." (Attempting to relay the subject's emphasis on certain words.)

Hour 3: Subject is attempting to show me what a grenade's Self Destruct looks like. Gently redirecting her by asking to see a physical copy of her blue mage spellbook.

Subject comments: "Did, did, did you know you can *Self Destruct* in Kugane, and and and a *white mage* can resurrect you on that lamppost, you don't even need to climb the Tower-"

Hour 4 1/2: Subject has abruptly passed out on the floor. Help from Nyx and Apple Silverberg requested, to raise subject from floor and move them to their private quarters.

Subject comments: Subject is currently incapable of producing speech.

Conclusions: Will have to wait until Miss Chocolate wakes up. I am feeling quite lightheaded myself, and fear that I will begin to see Thancred Waters' face everywhere I look. Not that I would mind, but.

(Miss Chocolate put me up to this. This is partly scientific intent, partly for our mutual amusement.)

Day 3- I think this was the first day I slept till the morning and jet lag finally started to ease up. I didn't really have an 'exact' plan today, other than a lunchtime booking at the Final Fantasy XIV Eorzea café, but we decided to visit Osaka aquarium and Matt found a lovely looking zoo nearby.

However on closer inspection and a read of some reviews we realised that the animal welfare in these places were not up to the standard we agreed with and we decided to give it a miss as we didn't want to support this sort of thing, not to mention it would honestly be depressing seeing animals like that.

The café was super cool though. It was only about 10minute walk from the hotel so we headed over. We shared a potato dish that had fries and other potato goodies on there. I had a curry dish, Matt had Takoyaki and we both had an selection of fancy themed drinks. It was a lot of fun and really cute.

Afterwards we headed back to Den Den town to finish the shopping that we had started on the first day and then stopped for a coffee to ponder our next move.

We decided to head over to place called 'Harukas 300' which is a huge observation deck 60 floors high. We were just in time to watch the sunset and honestly it was absoueltly beautiful! Found out Matt is quite afraid of heights. I never knew even after dragging him up so many tall things lol.

I think tiredness caught up with us finally, and we had started to get grouchy and exhausted. We then headed back to the hotel and decided on convivence store dinner as we just wanted to rest and do the easiest option. I had a katsudon. It was lush as all combi food is.

My first ever art party, at the Eorzea Aquarium! This was so fun, so many cool looking characters! I really need to practice drawing faster, but this is probably a good way to do it!

The bard thought I had the other day that I’ve been talking to friends on Twitter about is that I want to take Sanson to an aquarium. Rather, I want Guydelot to take him to an aquarium. On a date. Idc if there’s aquariums in eorzea or not and that Sanson has never up until this point expressed an interest in fish, I just think it would be so cute.

I want him to infodump to Guydelot about the sharks and stingrays they’re looking at, he has the mooglepedia page pulled up on his tomestone right now. Guydelot spends an equal amount of time looking at the fish as he does watching Sanson watch the fish, with heart eyes of course. At the end, they get matching T-shirts from the gift shop and Sanson also gets a major general plush.
