I am not proud of this opinion but I am not the biggest fan of Save The Cat! Don't get me wrong, I like it, but when I watched it for the first time I was a little bit confused that they went the mind control route for Catra. the part where she rejects the Horde and tells Prime "you will never get to Glimmer, you will never reach Adora"- I wanted us to see THAT Catra when Adora sees her for the first time in so long. I wanted Catra conscious, I wanted the abrupt reunion between her and Adora, and IMO it required Catra to be HERSELF in that scene, not basically a prime clone.

And yet despite tjat... oh, it was still so good- I got to see She-Ra again and this time she's not controlled by the First Ones- I indeed did like that episode, it just was not what I had in mind! And while I did not particularly favour it as a kick start to the redemption arc, there were so many good moments where I was like "AKSJAKJDKDAKJ kitty cat joinng the rebellion!" The moment she joins The Best Friend Squad eating those steamed buns Glimmer made and finally left her room to go sit with them. The moment she apologizes to Entrapta. The moment she let the best friend squad use her chip to track Prime. The moment she comorts Netossa about Spinerella being chipped. The moment she tells Glimmer "I made a promise to her a long time ago, it's about time I fulfilled it" or something like that. The moment she jumped into fire for Adroa nad Adora immediately teased her about it ofc lol. Dare I say it's even better I was not fully satisfied during Save The Cat, because it was not her redemption arc per se, but just a step in that diection! And those steps in that direction are what I enjoyed so much more! And the rest of her redemption arc was all of these moments along the way in season 5, ending with the grand gesture to go back for Adora.

It was the "...hey Adora!" in the last episode (the hologram version who Adora thought was her) and all the images of Catra over the years walking towards Adora that made my heart melt and I knew I was going to love catradora forever <3

Catra's redemption arc was not perfect but it was GOOD! And I will never hate on Catra just because Save The Cat didn't go as I had wanted it to! I can understand that something is good even if it's not as I expected it to be!

What is your favourite Catra redemption arc moment? And it's 100% okay if it's something in Save The Cat, I can understand us having different opinions! :3

bestie, i love you dearly, but i can't possibly agree with this take. catra getting chipped was such a huge part of the overarching story regarding trauma (notably the repetitive pressing of her hand to the back of her neck later on in the season, and her shaking hands in "taking control") & religious imagery (captioned screenshot by @horde-princess)

besides, we did kind of mostly get a genuine heartfelt reunion in the same place too:

and i just think that no alternate timeline could ever match how eerie and haunting all those catradora scenes in this episode felt. that fight being their most intense yet is what makes us temporarily feel like "wait, are we still watching a kids' cartoon...?" until you remember no gore was shown.

I wasn't sure what to draw today, but Entrapta was the first character that came to my mind, so I just googled her name and chose a tool from one of the screenshots that came up lol

OKAY so APPARENTLY it’s impossible to do a screenshot/ screen record anything on Netflix, so I need the help of the Entrapdak fandom.

I’m currently working a slide show about my fictional crushes, and I’m adding Hordak because of course I will.

I really want this specific frame of Hordak at 13:18 seconds of “Heart Pt 2” where he longingly looking at Entrapta after calling her a “friend” while dangling Prime off a ledge (aka one of his most iconic moments).

He looked so beautiful, pretty, and handsome in that frame, and I need it to properly convey how gorgeous this man is.

I’ve looked on Google, Tumblr, Pinterest, even Wikipedia, but I can’t find it anywhere!

That’s why I must humbly ask if anyone has that specific image and if they can post it or send it to me.

(Also if you have any other screen shots or quotes you think I need to have, you have my permission to share)

This is a small vinhette I've written momentos ago.

It was inspired by a drawing from an artist... Kuurankaiho, since I cannot pick the art without permission, I have a screenshot to describe Hordak 's mood, due to Entrapta's condition.

What Happened to Hordak to be so furious like this?

He has a wounded Entrapta on his arms, bleeding and her clothes torn apart…but has enough to cover her.

It was an explosion in her lab that had caused everything…Hordak removed her from the ruble, She was seriously wounded…bleeding.

He tried his best to tend her wounds…but he has no knowledge how to treat bigger wounds, só he runs towards the med bay with her on his arms shouting, “ Help Entrapta, She is seriously wounded.” All medical personnel rushed to Hordak and removed her from him, gently.

He didn’t want to let her go…but the doctor Said, “ She Will be ok, Excellency.” Reluctancy had to let her go.

They had to expel him from the room, “Out…we need to treat her without you leering at us…we need privacy.” He has to Obey saying, “ I Will abide…for the moment, but if She dies, you will follow suit.” The doctor faces him, “ Milord, don't threaten us, ok? So chove your empty threats where the sun doesn't Shine.

Let us work.!” He leaves the room, but stays at the door…waiting.

Hordak cried…the love of his life is lying there, senseless and he couldn’t avoid her being hurt like that…

So he stays …with an empty look…thinking of Revenge…

He felt a hand, “ Milord…” He look up seeing a nurse, “ You can seen her now.” He gets up, and follows the nurse.

He sees Entrapta lying there on a bed, has a new gown, and has IV on her arm, “ She is quite resilient Milord.

What Happened?” Hordak just utters a word, “ Lab explosion.” The doctors were shocked.

“ I Will investigate this…She is very careful in her lab, someone set an explosive, that’s for sure.” The Doctor just says, “ In due time, Milord, the best thing you can do is to calm down, for Entrapta’s sake.” A nod, “ Now I will leave you alone with her.” The Doctor left him with Entrapta.

Hordak took her small hand on his bigger one, “Please my love…wake up, I need you.” He lays his head on her flat stomach, never letting her go, staying there for sometime…

Then he heard, “H…Hordak?” He raised his head, “ Entrapta…” A tear rolls on her face but Hordak cleans It with a clawed finger, “ Shhh…I am here now my love.” He intertwined his fingers on hers, “ Rest…” And he gives a chast kiss on her forehead, “ Rest…I am here to protect you.” She closes her eyes, sleeping…while Hordak lays his head on her flat stomach…”

oh yeah, adora isn't suspicious because catra is her enemy who is clearly plotting something and trying to manipulate entrapta into joining her side. no, she's just jealous. isn't that cute?

Off topic but while looking for fan art of Catra from the portal (ugh I need to try different tags) I instead saw a bunch of anti-Catra and anti-Catradora and anti-spop blogs and jfc people need to get a life and touch some grass and if I'm saying that--

(I mean, I did leave the house today with Saer and their mom, we went to Powell's books where I spent too much money but I got a couple of wlw manga and a Judith Butler book among a few other things, and also we went to a vintage clothing store that seemed to have NO END but I bought one thing there, a lavender satin bathrobe, the short kind; the only thing wrong with it was that it's a bit faded in some places and it's a little small on me but it's a bathrobe, and it was like $26 AND 100% SILK)

a question many astronauts have surely asked as well!

these two squabbling but not actually fighting always sounds like flirting, it doesn't help that a split second after that screenshot, Catra actually smiles for a second

Anyway on Krytis they find an old Horde ship and everyone else is trying to figure out what happened but poor Catra is remembering what it was like to be chipped :(

there's a "crack" video where Entrapta's little walk here is dubbed with a clip from an ancient Spiderman show's theme song

Adora laughs longer than anyone else after Catra gets the helmet off and Catra blushes and smiles and everyone stands around not wanting the ruin the moment--and then Entrapta finds something and squeals and startles the shit out of everyone and it's SO GREAT

Catra: "So, wait, the plan is to barge ahead into the structurally unsound building to find some mystery person that we know nothing about, in hopes that they somehow know how to defeat Horde Prime?"

Bow: "You know, we were just gonna recklessly blast our way through that blockade until you stopped us. So this whole thing is basically your idea."

Catra's starting to realize what DORKS they all are and that good-natured teasing is just part of the deal

I dunno, I think torturing kids is hardly "subtle." But abuse is often hard to spot while it's happening to you.

On Krytis, the Squad realizes they've gotten confused/turned around in the abandoned ship--"Isn't this where we started?!" There's a growling noise. The hallway somehow gets longer while they're walking in it. Creepy as fuck.

Oh and also it turns out Horde Prime and the First Ones fought over Krytis ages ago and Prime won but then abandoned the place anyway.

more spop world building notes

i was talking with an irl friend about my brightmoon head canons and mentioned to them how odd it was that the boats in spop don't seem to sit in the water, as can be seen from this screenshot of sea worthy:

they also float in the air sometimes i guess.

my friend noted that the fins look like hydrofoils , something i hadn't known about. theyre basically fins that go on the bottom of a boat and, qutoe from the wiki--

"As a hydrofoil craft gains speed, the hydrofoils lift the boat's hull out of the water, decreasing drag and allowing greater speeds."

real hydrofoils look like this:

the resemblance is even better with hydrofoil boards.

real hydrofoils have structures that go under the water in order to give the boat/board the lift to be able to rise up like this

but what if the same effect could be achieved a different way?

we know that there's a stark difference in technology between the horde and the rest of etheria, but Horde navel vessels also appear to float just over the surface of the water despite looking much heavier than the other etherian ships we see.

we also know they have other floating land vehicles like the skiffs.

much of their other vehicle technology has a scorpion aesthetic, as it was adopted or stolen from scorpias former kingdom. examples:

we also know that first one's technology combined magic with regular technology, and entrapta seems to be the first person to have been able to reinvent this kind of tech during the events of the show.

We also know that the galactic horde doesn't use magic in its technology at all, as its a major plot point in season 5.

other people have made theories that i agree with, (but don't feel like trying to dig up their posts) that when hordak arrived on etheria, he did so at a time when anti-princess sentiment was already high and was adopted into an existing conflict because he brought with him stronger technology that could even the playing field with people with magical powers. he then would joined with the scorpion nation in this effort in some way-- whether it was mutually beneficial or not.

this is the image of the scorpion nation being taken over by the horde that light spinner showed micah as a child to convince him to help her grow her own magical abilities

it should be noted that light spinner/shadow weaver was at this time a powerful sorceress in illusory magics and is a villian well known for manipulating children in her care (adora, catra, micah). The scorpion kingdom take over could have happened like this or been more of a mutual endeavor and this is just what she chose to show micah because she knew it would compel him to action. Evidence could point either way. Scorpia is the only living scorpion person we ever see in the show, but she's also been treated well (has her own room with a picture of her parents with her on display and a closet full of dresses) and been given status beyond her abilities in the horde. she's supposed to be a force captain in season one, before even catra is made one, and yet when she is left in charge of a crew of soldiers its played for laughs, as if she's never had to do that before in a meaningful way. at least to me, speaks to there having been an alliance between the growing Horde and the scorpion kingdom at least at some point, and maybe a promise to take care of a young princess that was honored.

the textual evidence in support of hordak bringing advanced tech to an old conflict is scorpia mentioning before the prom that the other princesses didn't like her kingdom even before the war, the face that the horde cadets grew up being fed anti-princess propaganda despite the horde harboring a known princess in a position of authority, and the tech that the horde has. As i said before some of it has a scorpion motif like it came from the scorpion kingdom, but some of it does look like what we see of galactic horde tech, notably hordaks lasers and the green forcefield prison cells present in both hordes.

we also know that hordak himself is an engineer, having made many technologies presumably by himself-- such armor to hide and manage his medical condition, something he did not want other people to know about. So its my opinion that all of the tech we seen in the etherian horde is an amalgamation of scorpion tech, galactic horde tech adapted by hordak as well as new designs he invented. none of which use magic before entrapta joins the horde.

so what is my point? well, the other etherian kingdoms other than dryl dont seem to use any modern tech at all, at least at the structural level. like bow and his parents have a data pads they can call each other with, but much of the way people are living in etheria looks almost medieval. the princesses dont seem to have any ground vehicles at all for example.

and yet both sides have floating boats.

one could say the princesses boats are magical while the horde boats use some kind of magnets or some other floating technology we don't have.

you know what they do both have?

so all of this to say...

what if they put rocks in the boat and it make it go up instead of down????
