Entrance automation systems streamline the entry process, saving time and reducing queues. Instead of manual verification or physical keys, individuals can simply scan their credentials or use biometric identification to gain access. This improves the flow of people and vehicles, particularly in high-traffic areas such as office buildings, airports, or parking lots.

The Le Four Lighthouse is a huge tower standing in the open sea, a category "hell", which is able to withstand waves of 30 meters high.
Le Four Lighthouse is located off the Saint-Laurent peninsula in France, between the western coast of the Land of Leon and the rocks of Roche d'Argenton, at the entrance to the bay of Chenal du Four.
The Le Four Lighthouse was built in the sea between 1869 and 1874. It is a twin lighthouse of the Pierres Noires lighthouse, built south of Molènes. It was erected on a granite reef with a diameter of 25 m and a height of 11.50 m. Construction under the direction of engineers Blanche, Léonce Reynaud and Fenoux began in April 1869 and was significantly hampered by the waves breaking on the rock. After six months, construction was suspended for the winter; the 1870 construction campaign began to repair the damage caused by the winter storms.
During construction, three men, Hervé Jézéquel, François Leborgne and foreman Le Brélivet, died when their supply boat hit a rock and sank. The lighthouse was commissioned on the night of 14-15 March 1874.
On 14 February 1899, lightning struck the lighthouse. Two other accidents have left their mark on its history. The keeper of the moyak died on 13 February 1913, after inhaling diesel fumes. On 9 December 1978, a supply boat capsized near the lighthouse, drowning Martin Perrault and Jean-Yves Kernoas. In 1985, the compressed air fog signal was replaced by a 1,200 W electromagnetic system. The lighthouse was automated on 6 October 1993. In 2017, it was classified as a historical monument.

hephaestus cabin headcanons
children of hephaestus
• OIL, SOOT, and GREASE STAINS EVERYWHERE.
• the have the most intense games of hide-and-seek in bunker 9.
• a lot of them lose limbs, become disabled in some way, or are born that way, and they often use it as a reason to build themselves cool robot prostheses and other tools to help them get around.
• along with the athena cabin, they come up with weapons and armory specifically for disabled demigods.
• they build advanced prosthetics for campers who have lost limbs in battle.
• they’re warmer than most demigods, even if they don’t have fire powers.
• they always know when someone is in need of a weapon and they just create it without thinking about it. like they just know when someone needs a weapon before they ask for it.
• they're the only ones who can pick out stuff from hephaestus's junkyard without getting hurt.
• everything, the cabin, the forge, the bunker, is 100% handicap accessible.
• they worked with the athena and hecate cabins to upgrade bunker 9 to allow better lighting, safer rooms, new areas to test weapons, etc. they wanted it to feel like an underground space station.
• they name each of their tools and inventions.
• on birthdays, they give each other personalized gadgets that solve everyday problems, like a self-tying shoelace or a self-stirring spoon.
• they design and wear fireproof clothing.
• they actually have numerous secret hideouts and mini-workshops hidden around camp half-blood (bunker 9 is the only one we know about).
• they keep detailed journals filled with sketches, ideas, and notes about their inventions, passing them down through generations of hephaestus kids.
• they build small, mechanical pets or companions that help them with tasks around the forge, each one with a unique personality programmed in.
• they all have a set of personalized tools that they've crafted themselves, often with special engravings or modifications to suit their style.
• they have made so many modifications to their cabin over the years that none of the original material is still there, and there’s a constant debate at camp as to weather it’s still the same cabin.
cabin exterior
• the cabin has an industrial look, with a mix of metals like iron, copper, and steel. rivets, bolts, and exposed beams are prominent features.
• life-sized metal automatons, resembling ancient greek warriors and mythical creatures, stand guard at the entrance.
• they have created intricate metal sculptures that decorate the cabin’s exterior. these range from small, detailed pieces to larger, more abstract art.
• the entrance has large, reinforced double doors, that are automated.
• these doors swing open smoothly despite their weight.
• they have a pulley system for lifting heavy materials, a retractable awning for shade, and a mechanical clock tower that chimes periodically.
cabin interior
• the floor is covered in spare parts and tools that never get picked up (unless somebody wants to use them for something).
• they have underground bunkers for bedrooms.
• the walls are adorned with gears, cogs, and blueprints of various inventions. some of the gears are part of intricate mechanisms that move or serve as storage spaces.
• their cabin has several fire extinguishers and a state-of-the-art ventilation system to manage the smoke and fumes from the forges.
• emergency buttons are strategically placed around the cabin to shut down all machinery in case of accidents.
cabin traditions
• every month they hold a competition to see who can make a device that fits a certain theme.
• they’re judged by a panel of five consisting of the head counselors of hephaestus, athena, hecate, and a volunteer counselor, as well as chiron.
• each judge judges something different on a scale of 1-5: safety and usefulness, ease of use and functionality, utilization of magic, presentation/looks, and on-theme-ness. chiron calculates and delivers the final score, which is the total points given by the counselors.
• the winner receives a medal and bragging rights (until the next competition), as well as first pick when it comes to tools each morning.
• anyone in camp is allowed to participate (though it’s mostly just the hephaestus and athena kids) and contestants have a week to create their contraptions, during which they have access to all the tools and spare materials in the hephaestus workshop (and later bunker 9) that nobody has yet claimed (whether for the competition or not).
• the event is taken very seriously by everyone involved, and even athena and hephaestus have been known to show up from time to time to watch from the shadows, but they always watch from olympus.

“I have an announcement!” Mikey projected. “We are not dating!”
The rest of the lair stared on with various shades of confusion and crestfallen faces while you tried your best to melt behind your friend.
It would have probably gone better if he hadn’t been so stubborn about holding your hand.
You might have also been able to help if he had given you even the tiniest bit of notice that this was how he was going to inform his family.
Instead, after your rooftop reaffirmation and the strangest deal of your life, you’d spent a few days apart where things returned to a sort of norm. Back and forth text conversations appeared in your phone again and you chatted sparingly throughout the day. It led to a Wednesday where he asked if you wanted to come over and hang out on Friday. Not easily agreeing after the last time you saw his family, you had asked him if he’d cleared everything up with them. He’d texted back that they were fine and seeing your new dynamic could help with that. You’d quickly messaged back that your dynamic was supposed to be the same to which he promptly sent you with an ‘exactly!’
For Mikey, the return to normalcy was the start of something new, but his family had perceived your talk to be one of loss. Not that you were trying to read into his text, but the way he wrote it gave the impression that he was sticking it to them. You imagined that based on that, the conversation had probably gone as well with them as it had with you. He was hell-bent on indulging his crush and there was nothing the brothers he was raised with from infancy could do to stop him. Relenting only enough to sound your worries about it being awkward, Mikey then plied you with a million reasons on why it would be comfortable which after about the fifth thing devolved into his sending pictures of random places in the lair.
Mikey: See, the bean bag is a comfy place, no uncomfy here.
Mikey: Microwave open and ready to get you comfy popcorn.
Mikey: Bathroom toilet, moderately clean and ready to serve all your comfort needs.
You’d had to text him several stop messages as if you were putting a halt to an automated system. He completed your request with a laughing selfie before you both worked out what time. The next two days passed in a similar fashion and the day of, you approached your preferred entrance. The manhole cover there was open and a sort of inviting as it led to a line that joined with the abandoned subway. Peering down the pit found Mikey smiling up at you from below. Returning the gesture as you descended, he stepped away as you hit the ground beside him and jokingly said he would be your escort. Happy for it because while you knew the way, it didn’t help how eerie the empty tunnels were, he caught your hand and belted into a full tilt run.
Scrambling after him and crying out his name in a whirling echo, you took all the turns and tripped nearly every few seconds. Mikey yanked your arm off to somehow keep you upright and, within what seemed like a rollercoaster amount of time, you were thrust into the fairy lights that designated the lair. It was a rushed trip up some stairs to the common room where, with you panting, sweaty, and still gripped tightly in the youngest brother’s grasp, Mikey had sung his announcement.
Much to your horror.
And everyone else’s stares.
You weren’t sure which was worse.
“Uh… I don’t know how to tell you this, so I’m just gonna say it. You musta added a word by accident, bud…” Raph offered with his hand.
“Nope!” Mikey retorted with closed eyes.
They didn’t know.
You could see it on all their faces.
He hadn’t talked to them.
At least not in a way that made sense to reality.
“Yeah, that does not say ‘we’re single.’” Leo pointed at your conjoined hands.
Where you were already straining the connection, you gave a tug which Mikey continued to refuse.
Why was he doing this?
He’d lied.
To your face.
Well, to your phone’s face.
There was no way he could have misconstrued your question.
Where had this all gone so wrong?
“I said what I said.” Mikey huffed.
Splinter clicked his tongue, loud and wet. “Why waste my time!? Still no grandkids! Wake me when you finally marry!”
Turning to you and somehow not seeing the horrors there, Mikey pretended to speak a secret out of the side of his mouth. “The ace thing kinda fell in line with no kids for me, but I am not going to try to explain that to him. No way.”
Splinter had already went slack as if to sleep in his armchair, but the other boys were painted new shades of shock.
As if using a color scale, surprise glossed down the brothers in a degradation. From Leo who seemed openly gobsmacked, then came Raph with a slightly furrowed brow and parted lips that said he knew what the term was, but had never considered. It then reached Donnie where the purple brother’s eyes flicked side to side as if scanning some mental file. Finally reaching April, who without an obvious reaction, instead came a soft encouraging expression to Mikey.
“That right?” Leo muttered, taking a step forward with a half-hopeful smile on his face.
“Yeah, I don’t really get why the ‘not’ part was hard.” Mikey released you so he could gesture with both his hands as if he picked up the word and placed it for examination.
You backpedaled several fearful steps away watching the entire unraveling with dismay.
Clutching what felt like a defiled hand to your chest, you wished to fall into some pit hole you assumed the subway or adjoining sewer had.
Something specifically straight to the center of the Earth where you’d burn up in the core.
Not only had he not discussed whatever the hell the two of you had going on, but he’d somehow neglected to share his newfound romantic and sexual labels.
You were now party to their reveal.
Something you explicitly asked not to be.
Not that you didn’t support him.
This was a family affair and you were new blood.
You had no stake in this.
No say.
Why were you here?
“Obviously the new thing!” Leo griped, coming over.
You tried to step a little more away until one of your feet caught the other and you tumbled.
The others tried to move, but there wasn’t enough time as you hit the ground.
Staring up at the group all in states of hovering, it hit you that you had a large audience for your fall.
Welling up a fountain of tears, you dropped your head and said you needed a drink.
The poorest excuse, you scurried off to the kitchen where you heard Leo grab Mikey in a yelp.
“Nuh uh! Y/N is scared out of their mind! Give them a minute!! What is up with you?”
“Scared?” Mikey’s eyes went a horrified wide. “What? Y/N?” He tried to run again, but Leo still had him.
“Dude, quit! I am not above having Raph sit on you!”
“I can think of something better.” Raph appeared in his hulking form.
“Hell yeah! Finally!” April crooned and, before Mikey could blink, the light was blotted out.
Making sense in little slivers of fluorescence, he realized the others had all locked arms into a huddle with him trapped in the center of it. “No!” He screamed, feeling reduced to his childhood where they had done this when the youngest got away with a little too much. “I am way too old for tot jail!”
“I always wanted in on this! Score!” April whooped, bouncing on the arm tethers of both Donnie and Raph.
“Just… slightly… before your… time…” Donnie wheezed where she’d struck him just right to knock the air out.
“Alright, jail bird, let’s hear it. Sing, ya canary!” Leo ordered, narrowing his gaze down at his brother.
“I’m not going over this again!” Mikey groaned, feeling especially small.
Leo threw his head back for an exasperated groan before he came down with irritation. “CLOSE IT UP!”
Every party took a single step inward which adjusted the size of the cage.
“No!!!” Mikey cried out.
“They want to know about the ace thing, Mikey.” April offered, losing steam at the sight of the youngest’s fear.
It took Mikey a few traumatizing moments to put together what she meant before he looked up with renewed anger. “Why didn’t you just say that?!”
The whole group groaned and overlapped with complaints.
Mikey laughed nervously and had to put quite a bit of effort into not bringing his arms up as a shield. “What… did you want to know?”
“When did you figure that out?” With a nod, Leo signaled the others and the cage disengaged.
Mikey fell over with relief. Laying on his side for a second, his lids lowered. “Kinda had a night long epiphany … uh… 3 nights.. or days? Maybe it was a week or something ago…?”
“You explicitly said you didn’t tell him.” Donnie looked at April.
“I didn’t. I shared my bit, showed him the Wiki, and offered advice on the spectrum.” She was quick to respond.
Raph appeared beside Mikey just as the younger was righting himself. With a large hand clasped onto his shoulder, Mikey was trapped by Raph’s toothy grin. “We’re here for you, big man. Support all the way.”
“Thanks, Raph.” Mikey put his hand over his brother’s and shared a smile before looking to the other three. “You all knew.”
Leo looked the most guilty and rubbed the back of his neck. “From the way you talked that night… It made sense, then… shit…”
“Then Leo and I talked about it right after, with April.” Donnie gave his culpability.
“We weren’t trying to talk behind your back.” April offered. “I started by filling Donnie in, then Leo came by and… it was a whole thing.”
“I wasn’t a part of it.” Raph raised his hands up with his innocence.
“No, I only had to explain to you the different types of attractions.” Leo rubbed a hand down his face. “Look, we’re sorry…”
“I’m not mad.” Mikey glanced around openly. “In fact, I’ve just kinda been sitting here. You guys are worried over nothing.”
Leo gave a dead eyed stare before shaking it off. “Did you want to talk about being ace? You hear that? I specified! No mixing it up anymore, got it? I know when I came out it was a whole thing.”
“Aroace.” Mikey corrected with a small smile.
“Oh?” Leo plopped down beside his brother. “You went all the way. Great job.” Leo held up a fist bump.
MIkey took it. “Still feeling broken, but not as much.”
“You aren’t.” Leo blew the exchange up.
“You really aren’t.” Donnie chimed in.
April did a few little hops in place before she leapt forward to hug Mikey.
He caught her with a gleaming smile.
“I’m so proud!” She gushed. “Oh and one more thing!” She caught his face and yanked so she could send menace straight into his eyes. “It’s fluid your whole damn life so one label isn’t the be all and end all, your feelings could change, understand?!”
“Y-yes…” Mikey choked under the squeeze. “That’s the thing I don’t really like about labels…”
“Good.” April released and flopped down between Mikey and Raph.
Donnie gave a dramatic gasp before kneeling down. “I guess we’re all sitting on the floor now.”
Mikey chuckled. “So I’m good, are you all good?”
“No, what the heck is up with that other thing?” Leo leaned forward, zeroing in on his younger brother. “Oh, sorry! Was I not specific enough!?”
“You already ‘weren’t’ dating.” Raph did the same boxing of the word as Mikey had.
“Ugh!” Mikey rocked back onto his shell. “Our friendship was up in the air! Duh! I jeopardized that and then I fixed it.”
“Fixed it how?” Donnie was the next to give a suspicious gaze.
“We talked it out.”
April folded her arms.
“The judgment in this space!” Mikey soured.
“You’re doing textbook Leo avoidance tactics. I would know.” Leo scoffed with his whole head.
“Because if you don’t get this then you aren’t going to get what it really is!” Mikey exclaimed and then clamped a hand over his mouth. “Please forget.”
“Not happening.”
“Not on your life.”
“You dun messed up!”
“Mikey, what happened?!”
As if dispelling all the little speech bubbles, Mikey flung his hands and waved them in the air. When everyone was thoroughly quiet, he threw a little stink eye to each party before slumping into himself to explain. “This is all new. It’s either a squish-“
Raph held up a finger.
“-ace crush.” Mikey shot him a finger gun and a wink.
Raph turned the hand into a thumbs up.
“Or something else and I need to find out what. You guys… don’t have the best track record in believing in me or letting me figure stuff out on my own.” Mikey rubbed his arm.
That didn’t feel great.
He also had to say it.
He really, really wanted them to let him have this.
He’d already fought enough to convince you.
He wanted his family to be on his side for once instead of trying to protect him.
Bringing his attention up, he caught a clip of the many conversations being had with glances.
The only one not participating was April who was staring right at him. Caught by the look, he watched the moment her lips parted. “What does that mean, Mikey?”
The journalist’s inquisition.
He had mad respect for that. “Like I said, we aren’t dating, but I’m going to feel this out…”
While April had a nose for a story, Leo had one for bullshit. “Mikey…” He warned.
Mikey crumbled. He was always like this when caught. It didn’t bother him, but he wished the others would let him off the hook once in a while. “I wanna experience the whole crush thing. I asked Y/N if I could do that. Go through all the motions. Well, keep doing it. Keep liking them. I want to see what it feels like. I want to know all the highs... and lows… so…”
“But you aren’t dating?” Leo pressed.
“No.” Mikey said firmly as he felt he’d repeated himself on that front enough. “Y/N doesn’t feel the same.”
“If they don’t…?” Raph came alive with distilled concern. “Lows!? But that means you’ll be dumped?! Wait! You want to know…? You want to be dumped?!”
“No! Well-!” Mikey hiccupped on the lie, again wasting away under it. “Kinda… sorta…. Not like exactly but…”
“Mikey! What? Why!?” Raph continued on. “That’s like saying you’re gonna learn how to drive a bus and then settin’ the thing on fire! What are ya thinkin’!?”
“I’m not trying to be sad on purpose!” Mikey pleaded with his older brother. “But I want this! For me! I finally have a chance to experience this! I might not again! I want to see this through! I want to feel normal! I want to see what it’s like to-“
April had her hand on his arm.
He looked down at it and then up to her.
“You’re gonna hate this-” She started.
“I am normal, yeah I know-!” Mikey’s face fell.
She flicked him right in the forehead and he squeaked out in pain.
“Why!?”
“I wasn’t done, fool!” She stared him down and he clamped his mouth shut so she would continue. “It’s not going to be normal, because no one is normal. There’s no right way to care about someone. Look at us.”
“You’ve never given me grief for my emotional shortcomings.” Donnie shrugged.
“Or like… this... just everything here, ALL OF THIS!” Leo got progressively louder and more agitated as he swept a hand over himself over and over. “Man, I hate crushes!”
“They make Leo insane.” Raph agreed.
“And you a walking Godzilla.” April stared with amusement.
“Maybe I should just laugh at volume a million at unfunny jokes.” Raph turned his head away.
“You did not just make fun of me!” April pushed her sleeve up.
“Stop!” Mikey threw his arms out.
The others all resigned to dropping their respective qualms.
“Normal may have been the wrong word, but it works. That’s exactly why I want to do this. How will I react? You all have things! Leo’s crazy! Raph’s powers go wild! April cackles! You know them! I want to see. I want to feel! I want to know where this goes and I’m not going to ask if that’s okay. I’m doing it. This is my choice. I didn’t tell you before, but I’m telling you now. You’re my family and I love you, but this is happening.”
There was a pregnant pause before April dispelled it. “Well damn, how can we say no to that!?” She then tossed an arm over MIkey’s shoulders. “Fine, I’ll let you, but if Y/N messes with you then I’m getting my bat.”
“And I will do my best to stop that.” Leo came next, slinking his arm around Mikey’s carapace. “Doubt it’ll come to that though. I’ve gotten a pretty good read on Y/N and I somehow think you’ll end up breaking their heart.”
“I’ve just emailed you the background check.” Donnie dotted off tapping into a holographic screen. “I did it during my whole ‘they’re definitely totally a villain’ phase, but there’s been no update. I do enjoy the thought of a good shovel talk though…”
“I’ll take that.” Raph pretended as if he was picking up the thought when he instead grabbed the whole of Donnie and pulled him into the group hug. “It’s the eldest’s duty. You can’t take that away from me. It’s Raph’s birthright.”
Tears welled up in Mikey’s eyes. “Guys! This is all I wanted!”
A good squeeze and a few more for extra measure and everyone dispersed.
“Maybe this is more important than I thought.” Splinter huffed into the calm.
“Listening in?” Mikey brushed his legs off as he stood. “Think you can keep an open mind, dad?”
Splinter thought it over for a little too long and April gave him a threatening stare. He returned with a little nervous whine before heaving a large sigh. “Fine, fine. Explain to me the many fake words you came up with.”
“First of all.” Mikey approached, with an outstretched finger. “They’re not fake, that’s lesson one!”
“Doctor Sexuality is in the house?” Leo whooped.
“Absolutely not.” Donnie smacked the back of his head.
“Ew, gross!” Mikey screamed before continuing on his explanation with April lobbying at his side.
Donnie reviewed the trio once before looking toward where Leo had started up an argument about shovel logistics with Raph. A debate went on simply for the sake of it and Donnie gave Mikey’s distracted form one last glance before heading towards a staircase. Descending his calculated two at a time, he hit the landing and found you immediately.
You weren’t very good at hiding, he thought.
You only stood by the fridge, with your back to a counter, and had your face buried into your hands.
Weighing his steps so they would make a gentle sound, he padded past you to grab a glass from a nearby cabinet.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw you rise, not startled, and peer at him between fingers.
He patted himself on the back for avoiding scaring you and didn’t bother to indulge your worries.
Instead, he went to the fridge and got the pitcher from there, where the opened door gave you privacy. “Want a drink?”
He’d gotten this for you, but he could easily sip on it himself if you said no.
“Um… sure…” You mumbled.
You didn’t sound confident, but he poured a glass of water, metering the top so it wouldn’t spill.
People always forgot to give it that line of berth.
Replacing the jug, Donnie slipped his hand on top of the fridge door and counted out several seconds before closing it. It was another sign for you and once his threshold seven had been met, he let the door go and straightened with the glass in hand.
It sloshed lightly but was nowhere near spilling.
Another mental score for him and held the drink out to you.
You were slow to take it. “Did… they send you to… kick me out?”
He found you outlandish.
You spoke like Mikey, in a way. You always piped up with something honest, albeit ridiculous. The only difference was, where he’d long learned to give up on Mikey’s train of thought because it always took tracks he never quite understood, you, however, wove an obvious and nervous path. He couldn’t understand why you bothered with such absurdities if that was the case. It was as if you were compelled to take anxiety and make it tangible by giving it voice.
“No, though I do relish the thought.”
You blinked up at him with horror.
He supposed he should have pulled that punch.
It was too soon after his cruelty.
He needed a metered approach.
Cue light-hearted dialog.
He gave one tenth of a smile and leaned against the fridge. “Not you, to clarify. Of throwing someone out. I have a whole system in place for it, boot and all, but I’ve never been allowed to use it.”
“O-oh…” Your brow furrowed and you took the daintiest sip. “A real boot…?”
“Leather and steel toed.” He nodded, appreciative of his own work.
“For an intruder that’s probably bad…”
“For family though…” Donnie led you a little.
“Might be funny…? Does it…?” You gave a little kick. “… right in the butt?”
“Absolutely.” Donnie’s grin grew another tenth as your little mimed action was an endearing one.
You smiled a little more and looked at him with a bit more courage. “How… did everything go? Since… I’m not being kicked out.”
Donnie rolled his eyes. “Once again we continue the Hamato track record of not being great at telling each other things. Thankfully, with Mikey, it’s almost never a huge deal. He’s currently telling pa-pa about his new found sexuality.”
You gave a faint nod.
“He…” Donnie slowed, wondering if this was his to share or not. Finding himself an unwilling party, he figured that gave him enough grounds. “…also told us about your little tryst?”
You made a distasteful face. “Don’t call it that…”
“What would you call it?”
“Friendship…?” You tried and then pursed your lips.
“Queen platonic?” He offered.
“I don’t know.” You turned to him openly.
He liked that best.
“I was ready to be thrown out onto the street. I feel like I’m Icarus…” You tapped your glass and leaned up to stare at the fake sun in the form of overhead kitchen light. “My wings will melt and I’ll crash land back on Earth with nothing.”
“Not tonight unfortunately.” Donnie felt the tug and looked where you did.
There wasn’t much there that he didn’t already know about.
Metaphorically it held greater importance.
“You’re being a good host.”
“I’m always a good host.” Instead of moving his head, he shifted his pupil to glimpse you.
“I haven’t…” You swayed, obviously nervous over the rest of your sentence. “... gotten to see much of your good side.”
He gave a single puff of amusement. “True. Even now I’m here under nefarious purpose.”
“Oh?” You took another sip.
You weren’t afraid now.
The dialog was successful.
“I dislike visitors walking around unaccompanied.”
He would leave out the part about how he usually used cameras to track company instead.
It wasn’t an explanation he cared to give for the time being.
“Ah.” You sound like you understood which pulled his head. “The evil chaperon.”
“Did you just typecast me?” He could feel his interest pique.
“I saw it in your eyes.” You had a twinkle to yours. “When we got here you were thinking that we were violating school code. Holding hands is strictly forbidden.”
Donnie gave a genuine laugh.
What an image.
He could almost see himself as a professor down the road wearing tweed. “You have jokes. I’ll have you know you’re up against a master.”
“Is that so?” You leaned into him while looking him over as if something about his outfit would scream hilarity.
“Get into my good graces and I’ll let you in on my comedy.”
“Slapstick.” You pointed a finger from around the glass.
He arched an interested brow at your reasoning.
You did your cute kick motion again and then brought your gaze right to his. “Seems obvious.”
Putting his fist to his mouth as you’d elicited one too many laughs in a row, he chuffed. “Wrong. I consider it a challenge now to show you my highbrow brand.”
You went to raise your hands on instinct and lost grip on your glass.
In a swoop, Donnie brushed your fingers while plucking the thing from you.
You gave him a thankful bob before bringing up your hands for the comedy police to see. “I take it back! I have no idea what I’m dealing with!”
“Wise choice.” He offered you your glass.
You gave a tenth of a bow as you took it.
His grin wasn’t so easily chartable at this point.
What an odd showing.
Drinking a little more, you seemed to think of something. “What kind of movies do you like?”
Donnie had to think for a moment before realizing where you’d gotten the insinuation from. “Typecast…”
He hadn’t meant to say that bit aloud.
It didn’t seem to bother you.
“Yep.” Your smile was so resilient. “Do you watch a lot of teen movies?”
“I’ve seen a few, but we grew up on a diet of martial arts flicks and sci-fi tales.”
“Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu!” You announced proudly.
“Did you know that or were you told?” Donnie tipped a knowing eye.
Your lashes fluttered with guilt.
“I’m sure you know far more about us than I would be comfortable telling you as of yet.” Donnie leaned back, satisfied.
“Mikey really loves you all. He always talks about you. He never has a bad thing to say.”
“That is mutual…” Donnie began and gave a flick of his gaze as he thought over the end of the sentence. “To an extent.”
“Very brotherly of you.”
“Raph will be giving you the shovel talk.”
“Shovel what…?” Your glass lowered a little.
“A conversational trope. The shovel will be used to hide your body if you hurt Mikey. It’s a common threat from a protective family to a new suitor.”
You paled. “I wouldn’t-!”
The way you cut yourself off gave him pause.
He stared at you and watched a sheen glisten over your eyes.
It made him all the more uncomfortable until he felt forced to break the moment just before the tears breached. “Y/N.”
“I don’t want to!” You forced out and in doing so screwed your eyes shut to keep anything from falling.
Unfortunately, keeping one liquid up, threatened another as you forgot about your glass and it tipped dangerously forward.
Donnie shot forward to cup the bottom of it, along with your hand, to keep it from spilling.
The graze got your attention and you brought up watery doe eyes to him.
“That’s… where all this is heading. I don’t want to… I’m also too… I’m too weak to let go like I should… To put my foot down…” You shook your head.
“He never discussed how you agreed to the matter. He’s not forcing you is he?” Donnie asked, quiet.
“No, no… of course not, but it’s kind of a technicality…” You only then seemed to notice his hand supporting yours and moved to set the glass on the counter.
He felt a strange temperature differential in his palm.
“I need something from him and he needs something from me… It made sense to agree at the time, but…”
“You don’t like it.”
“I really don’t… What…?” You turned up to him with a pleading expression. “What... do you think?” As if remembering your nerves your eyes doubled in size before you begged him. “I-I understand if you don’t want to tell me! Private family business and-!“
He really wanted to put a hand over your face.
Smother that worry.
You were so flighty, but that was only your outer layer.
You kept reverting to it stubbornly and Donnie could not figure out why.
“I think he doesn’t know what he’s in for.” He went with the obvious.
You quieted as he spoke right through you.
Your expression also said you were thankful for it.
He would keep that in mind.
“We’ve all been there, crushed by a crush. Myself, a few times. It’s less than ideal.”
“It sucks.” You added with a side glance that said you knew your fair share.
He didn’t like that either.
That was strange.
Shaking himself off physically, he sighed. “As we’ve learned with Mikey though… No…” Donnie grimaced. “As Hamato’s-“ He corrected with a sneer. “-we don’t learn unless we do it the hard way. From experience! We can step in and badger each other all we want. Chain each other down if it gets really bad, but in the end, that’s how it goes. He will learn by doing. He won’t be dissuaded when he wants something.”
You nodded, seemingly assured by your time with Mikey.
Now that he could appreciate.
You were aware of somethings, even if they weren’t your own.
“We’ll run damage control if necessary. Do keep me posted.”
“I will.” You looked a little relieved.
“Y/N!!” Mikey burst into the room and swept right past Donnie as if he wasn't there.
You squeaked at his sudden appearance and he swept you up for a quick examination as if you’d been abducted.
In his rush, the younger had knocked the water glass over and Donnie watched dully as water spread over the counter and then dripped onto the floor.
Mikey was too loud and garnered too much of your attention for either of you to notice.
Sighing, Donnie went to go get a towel while Mikey went on and on about how he felt bad for leaving you before switching to tease you about falling into the purple beast’s hands.
Turning with a towel in hand, Donnie curled his fingers and gave the dullest roar to play such a part.
You giggled.
Saying something about a comfort movie, Mikey then dragged you out.
You threw one last weakened glance over your shoulder. Tossing the towel over the spill and watching it soak, Donnie wondered if the film was one he’d seen before.

In the occupied Palestinian territories, there are cameras everywhere. In Silwan, in occupied East Jerusalem, residents say cameras were installed by Israeli police up and down their streets, peering into their homes. One resident named Sara said she and her family “could be detected as if the cameras were just in our house … we couldn’t feel at home in our own house and had to be fully dressed all the time.”
Surveillance cameras now cover the Damascus Gate, the main entrance into the old city of Jerusalem and one of the only public areas for Palestinians to gather socially and hold demonstrations. It’s at that gate that “Palestinians are being watched and assessed at all times”, according to an Amnesty International report, Automated Apartheid. These cameras have created a chilling effect on not just the ability to protest but also on the daily lives of Palestinians who live under occupation, according to Amnesty investigators. The organization had previously concluded that Israel has established a system of apartheid against Palestinians.
Among the vendors behind these surveillance cameras is a company that has been accused of aiding what the US has categorized as a genocide: Hikvision. Based in Hangzhou, China, the company is one of the world’s largest makers of video surveillance equipment. Already infamous among international human rights groups, it has been blacklisted by the US and identified by the UK as a security threat for being complicit in China’s repression of the Uyghur ethnic minority.

@hobotron
The rusted mech had accidentally set off Shockwave's alarms
@hobotron [The automated turret systems creaked to life, having been ill maintained after years of wear. They jittered and snapped like corpses reanimated-- a vision Megatron would be presumably quite intimate with.]
[They shot true, the algorithms guiding them as precise as the day Shockwave had coded them, but it was for naught. Like all things, time had worn down these scrapmetal skeletons; They couldn't burn a scraplet, let alone a Unicron-enhanced warrior.] [By the time the machines had collapsed on themselves, Shockwave was standing at the entrance. He seemed unperturbed to see his former leader, despite everything.]
...Megatron.

Day 28 @augusnippets - prompt : Betrayal
The facility is breached
CW: living weapon, character death
Asset 84 masterlist
The facility’s usual eerie silence was abruptly shattered as an alarm blared, its relentless shriek slicing through the silence with brutal intensity. The red emergency lights began to strobe, casting an erratic, pulsing glow across the stark white walls. Automated systems whirred to life, sealing doors and engaging lockdown protocols with a mechanical efficiency that only heightened the sense of impending doom.
Through the facility’s intercom and radios, a composed yet urgent voice cut through the din. “Attention all handlers, initiate Protocol 12 immediately! Ensure that no asset survives this breach. I repeat, no asset is to be left alive. Execute all orders without hesitation!”
From their quarters, Asset 84 could hear the pandemonium unfolding beyond the reinforced walls. The sounds of hurried footsteps, shouted commands, and the clattering of weaponry filled the air. They had heard whispered tales of breaches from other facilities—stories of raiding teams who claimed to be liberators. These intruders were said to strike swiftly, taking assets away to unknown destinations. The rumours were always vague, leaving the specifics shrouded in mystery and fear.
The door slid open with a hiss, Colonel Carter stood in the entrance, her usually calm and detached nature was clearly disrupted, her hands slightly shaking as she adjusted her communicator. This was not a drill or a test; something was deeply wrong.
"84," she said, her voice trembling ever so slightly, "follow me."
Asset 84’s heart raced as they absorbed the gravity of Colonel Carter’s uncharacteristically anxious demeanor. For years, they had been conditioned to view Carter as an unwavering figure of authority, someone whose calm was unshakeable. Seeing her flustered and unsure sent a jolt of alarm through 84, heightening their sense of urgency.
"Yes, Colonel," 84 responded, their voice steady despite the chaos surrounding them. They moved swiftly, their training kicking in as they followed Carter down the corridor.
"Do you understand what is happening 84?" Carter asked, she voice returning to it's usual cold tone.
Asset 84's eyes remained fixed on Colonel Carter, their senses acutely attuned to every detail amidst the chaos. The flashing red lights and distant sounds of conflict only served to heighten their focus. Despite the fear gnawing at them, 84's resolve remained unshaken, their training pushing them forward.
"No, Colonel," 84 admitted, "But I trust your orders."
Colonel Carter’s expression hardened, her momentary vulnerability now masked by her authoritative demeanour. “This is not a drill. We’re facing a breach of unprecedented scale. These intruders—liberators, as you might have heard—are here to dismantle the facility and free the assets. Protocol 12 is in effect," she paused as she pulled out her side arm.
84s eyes remained fixed on Carter, trying to interpret the sudden shift in her demeanour. The uncharacteristic tremor in her voice, the way her hands shook as she gripped her weapon tightly - all of it was unsettling.
Without warning, Carter spun on her heel, her gun aimed directly at 84. The shock of her movement struck 84 like a physical blow. They froze, their mind racing to process the sudden shift in their once-unquestioned trust.
“Colonel?” 84's voice was a mixture of confusion and betrayal, their training struggling to reconcile this new reality.
Carter’s green eyes were cold, her voice unwavering and final, “I’m sorry... Alex."
Asset 84 locked eyes with their handler, their steely grey eyes meeting her unfeeling green. A torrent of images crashed through 84’s mind: relentless training sessions, harsh punishments, the stark tattoo on their neck, the branding seared into their flesh, and the lifeless body of Asset 83. Each memory was a fragment of their indoctrination, now twisted into a grim tapestry of betrayal.
For a split second, time seemed to come to a standstill. The harsh, strobing red lights of the facility created a surreal, almost frozen moment of clarity. 84, no... Alex... driven by a deep, primal rage, moved with a sudden, fierce determination. This was not just an act of self-defence but a breaking point—a culmination of years of manipulation, pain, and relentless conditioning. The very foundation of their existence, built on unwavering obedience and endurance, was shattered in this single, explosive moment.
The alarm continued its relentless wail, the emergency lights still flashing as 84 stood over the fallen figure of their former handler. Her green eyes, once a sight of unwavering authority, stood wide and lifeless, staring unseeing at 84.

One of the primary advantages of entrance automation systems is enhanced security. These systems provide robust access control measures, such as biometric authentication, smart cards, or keypad entry, which significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access. By restricting entry to only authorized individuals, entrance automation systems help prevent theft, vandalism, and other security breaches, ensuring the safety of occupants and valuable assets.

— Explaining Konohagakure’s Barrier Team from Naruto to Boruto:
The information presented in this post has been checked and revised. My aim is not to hate or to discredit any of the characters mentioned. Please read about me for further information.
This post will contain evidence in picture format directly from the manga Naruto (1999 - 2014) created by Masashi Kishimoto and published by Shueisha in 1999. I will also use information from the official databooks.
This informative post will explain the role and utility of the Barrier Team from its debut in Naruto to its role in Boruto. I will use information present in the novels and the Boruto manga because it includes character development within canon compliance.
This meta is crossposted in AO3.
I give my permission to use or share this thread with informative purposes as long as you credit me.
I do not support the anime or the work of Studio Pierrot in regards to Naruto because I consider it over exaggerated and beyond biased. Furthermore, these fillers include some actions that these characters are unable to do in the canon according to official sources and they also generate unnecessary debate.
This meta does contain anime scenes from Boruto because it is a monthly manga draft that depends heavily on anime for context.
Please, take this into consideration.
This meta will include a small discussion from my own point of view about the Barrier Team and its members. There will be criticism and complaints, comparisons with other characters, previous leaders, etc.
HISTORY
The Barrier Team (結界班, Kekkai-Han) is an organization formed by sensor-type shinobi and regular shinobi in charge of maintaining the Sensing Barrier, a giant sphere surrounding Konohagakure and its outskirts, which detects any foreign chakra that crosses the border of the village. Many years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, it has been mechanized and transformed into an automated sensing system composed of a few sensor-type shinobi and led by members of the Yamanaka clan (although right now that is up for discussion, as it is self-sufficient by the Hokage's orders).
It is unknown for how long this team has existed, but the Barrier Team debuted in chapter 415 of Naruto. Based on its development, Konoha has kept a Konoha-wide exclusive sensing technique through the ages and, among their ranks, they count with sensor-type shinobi like Hyūga clan members.
This team also has their own unique crest in the shape of an inverted triangle with three circles inside, worn by their members in their clothes in armbands or hats.
Sensing Barrier and Sensing Water Sphere according to the fourth databook.
Naruto:
During the era of the Fifth Hokage, the Barrier Team was a rather small team located inside a room (most likely inside the Hokage Residence) where the large Sensing Water Sphere was guarded and monitored by three sensor-type wearing Shinto robes. According to the fourth databook, Kakoi, one of the sensor-type Shinto priests, was the leader at the time of debut.
The Sensing Water Sphere represents the invisible Sensing Barrier around Konoha, and the role of the Shinto priests was to inform of any unfamiliar chakra signature that crossed this barrier. When someone or something charged with chakra bypassed the barrier, the Sensing Water Sphere rippled around the area where the aura had been detected; a team of stationary chūnin were automatically sent to the location of the disturbance to investigate the threat.
Unofficially, the Barrier Team used to be divided in two groups:
The Detection was the division formed by the sensor-type Shinto priests.
The Interception was the division formed by chūnin, with Izumo Kamizuki and Kotetsu Hagane among these shinobi, in charge of investigating the threat and fighting the intruders.
The Barrier Team headquarters and both divisions.
The Sensing Barrier extends from the small portion of forest before the very entrance and walls of the A-Un gate, to the portion of land behind the Hokage Rock, according to the view the manga offers, from the right side. This means that anyone entering the barrier will be detected before they reach the proper gates of Konoha, but not if they halt before the start of the barrier itself. Only Pain could come undetected to the very limit of the barrier due to the visibility his Rinnegan granted him; however, it is to assume the exact spot of the barrier is unknown to non-Konoha shinobi.
According to Pain, it is revealed that the Barrier Team has a special jutsu to get through the barrier without being noticed applicable to ANBU and probably Konoha shinobi, which allowed Kisame Hoshigaki to enter with Itachi Uchiha without alarm.
The view of the full sensing dome from the right angle (Hokage Monument to the right, A-Un Gate to the left).
The Sensing Water Sphere, the Sensing Barrier and the sensor-type Shinto priests, or more specifically Kakoi, and all the staff members in the Detection group in the current era, are symbiotically connected with each other. This means that Kakoi’s sensory range and the rest of the staff, only correspond to the range of the Sensing Barrier and not farther, just confirmed by the presence of Pain and his summons by the limit, undetected. This detail also applies to future leaders who are currently replacing Kakoi.
Kakoi's symbiosis with the Sensing Barrier when he only detects Chikushodo (Animal Path) upon bypassing.
The role of the Barrier Team has remained the same through the eras, meaning that their job is to sense disturbances detected by the Water Sensing Sphere and inform shinobi teams to attack the possible threats. The Sensing Barrier has always remained Konoha–wide too.
Although the Barrier Team does not appear again until the Blank Period and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, we could see a similar version of it during the global conflict but on a greater scale.
Ao, a former ANBU and outstanding sensor-type from Kirigakure, was appointed the captain of the Sensor Division during the conflict. Alone, he could detect the presence of the reincarnated shinobi among the hundreds of White Zetsu clones in every division of the Allied Shinobi Forces through his Sensing Water Sphere, including natural energy which only a few selected sensors can perceive.
Ao maintaining the Sensing Water Sphere and sensing the White Zetsu army.
Blank Period
The next time the Barrier Team appears is in the Sasuke Shinden and Sakura Hiden novels:
According to Sasuke Shinden, after Pain’s attack, Konoha set up a more powerful barrier. However, the exploding humans could bypass the Sensing Sphere because they were Konoha shinobi, and thus, they are not considered intruders. The novel also confirms that the Interception group still exists and they also send messenger shinobi to alert the Hokage.
In Sakura Hiden, we notice a few modernizations. After Sakura Haruno defeated Kido Tsumiki, Kakashi arrived at the scene but was shortly cut by an instant Mind Body Transmission message from the Barrier Team alerting him of ANBU leaving the village.
Sasuke Shinden (above) and Sakura Hiden (below).
This detail is key to the development of the Barrier Team in Boruto, as telepathy via Chakra Transmission Communication Device becomes one of the most used tools by the team.
Boruto
By the era of the Seventh Hokage, the Barrier Team has continued to function the same was as before, with the exception of a few changes:
Although there are not any significant changes in headquarters, the Hokage Residence was reconstructed after Pain's invasion and so was the Barrier Team chamber. The location of the team has been confirmed in the anime inside the Hokage Residence.
The room has decreased in size and the area for the Interception Team has been replaced, in favor of a new Detection Team about the same size as the previous one and with the same amount of people monitoring the Sensing Barrier, although instead of Shinto priests, the staff is composed of regular chūnin.
In the manga, the room only takes a corner of an unknown location in the Hokage Residence. The automated sensing sphere has been replaced by monitors instead.
The Barrier Team headquarters in the anime and the manga.
According to Kashin Koji, Konoha used to have a Sensory Team led by members of the Yamanaka clan. However, this information is false.
Kashin Koji explaining the "role" of the Yamanaka clan.
The Yamanaka clan, or at least the only member of the clan in Konoha (apart from Ino) was Inoichi Yamanaka, who was in charge of the Analysis Team by performing Psycho Mind Transmission on targets that could not be interrogated by Ibiki Morino. There are no Yamanaka clan members aside from those two in Konoha, as Inoichi’s subordinates in the Analysis Team are all shinobi of other origins such as Mawashi Dokuraku, Tonbo Tobitake and Aoba Yamashiro. The latter being the only person other than Inoichi capable of performing Psycho Mind Transmission as seen in chapter 507 and Sasuke Shinden.
(I personally want to remind you that the Yamanaka are not known to be sensors of that calibre. They use Yin Release to control other people or even animals to take advantage of their senses. Masashi Kishimoto described this as a form of sensing in the third databook. By using Mind Body Switch, Ino controlled a bird to find the Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu even though they were nearby, meaning she does not have sensing skills past her surroundings. Mind Body Transmission does not use sensory skills to connect people either as it is a telepathy area like Bluetooth. Telepathy works by sharing their chakra with others as stated by Inoichi.)
Ino's sensing through controlling other species and the Mind Body Transmission range.
Moreover, the people in charge of the Barrier Team were Kakoi and his team of Shinto priests. This information was fixed in the anime, acknowledging the presence of the Shinto priests and Kakoi after Ukyō Kodachi rewrote the history of Konoha.
Kakoi described as a predecessor of the Barrier Team.
Ukyō Kodachi has renamed this team as Sensory Team or Sensory Unit, although it is still called by its original name, Barrier Team, in manga and anime.
To shed more context into the new era, according to Ino Yamanaka, the Barrier Team has been mechanized and modernized to replace sensor-types with an automated sensing. The Sensing Water Sphere has been replaced by a Scientific Ninja Tools sphere that detects intruders automatically and sends an alarm to the headquarters of the team.
In the manga, the Sensing Water Sphere has been replaced by screens and the area only takes about a room corner.
The new automated system also includes a database with the imprint of Konoha shinobi memorized in it, so anyone not registered within the system will be spotted.
Ino Yamanaka explains the new sensing system made by Katasuke Tōnō.
The range of the Sensing Barrier has decreased drastically, to the point of only covering from the gates to the Hokage Monument, instead of adding the portion of forest like previously established.
This is confirmed by Delta and Kashin Koji speaking on a tree branch by the A-Un Gate and passing undetected by anyone, even though they were within the previous range established by Kakoi in the Pain Arc. As soon as Delta crossed the walls, she was detected, but not before.
The new Barrier Team did not think about erasing the chakra signature of the deceased Jiraiya either, therefore, Kashin Koji, a Jiraiya clone, is able to come and go in and out of the village undetected.
Delta and Kashin Koji (to the left) right by Konoha's main gate, A-Un, undetected.
Led by Ino Yamanaka herself, the Barrier Team only counts with the Detection group, formed by three chūnin in charge of sensing, or rather, looking at the screens for any intruder and informing anyone they must. According to Shikadai Nara, the Interception group has been disbanded, now only informing Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha of danger so they can take care of it themselves.
The new Detection group informs via telepathy using the Chakra Communication Device, a tool used by the Allied Shinobi Forces to connect each division scattered across the map with each other. This device can cover greater distances than Inoichi or any Yamanaka, therefore we see him, as well as his assistants from the Intelligence Division and other members of each division, wear it. We also see Ino wear it during The Last: Naruto the Movie to receive messages from other villages, clearly outside her range.
The new Chakra Communication Device from the Barrier Team is a much more modern version of the previous one used by the Alliance. Moreover, all communications performed by the Barrier Team, the content of all mind transmissions, are stored in their own database in order to be analyzed or monitored. The Chakra Communication Device is connected the the rest of the automated sensing system to save all images, chakra prints and telepathy relays.
The telepathy device has a stationary version and two portable versions. Ino using it in the Blank Period and the modern version used by Barrier Team.
As aforementioned, the role of the Barrier Team continues to be that of detecting unfamiliar chakra signatures and informing teams to go and investigate. This time, as soon as someone is detected, Ino contacts headquarters to ask them if the presence is registered by the database, and, if not, she will contact Naruto and Sasuke to investigate.
Moreover, they can only detect things charged up with chakra, but not objects like Delta’s drones or shinobi erasing their chakra. This is pointed out by Kawaki, who can fool the Barrier Team by erasing his chakra signature and complains that they are “incompetent” and “only rely on sensing chakra”. This hinders Konoha's protection.
Delta sneaking a drone in Konoha to search for Kawaki. Kawaki complaining about Konoha's sensing system.
It seems that the new modernized version has not only decreased the sensory range of the Sensing Barrier of Kakoi’s time, but it also appears to be unable to deploy a boosting sensing system. In fact, Boruto was flaring his chakra on purpose while he was still inside the village. However, nobody in the Barrier Team was able to pick this up.
Not only does this inaptitude make it impossible to predict upcoming danger before bypassing the A-Un Gate, but it also makes it an impossible task to follow enemies when they have fled away from the borders.
Ino explains they are unable to trace anything beyond the gates or erased chakra.
For this same reason, Naruto Uzumaki had to step in and track Kawaki and Boruto by himself with Sage Mode.
When Kawaki and Boruto Uzumaki left the village, the Barrier Team could not detect them 40 kilometers outside Konoha because they were too far away from their limits. However, Naruto could finish what Ino or headquarters could not, even despite not having Kurama’s power for the extra boost.
Boruto flares his chakra to no response. Naruto detects Boruto in the battlefield against Code around 40 kilometers away with his sensing skills.
One of the most interesting details about the new Barrier Team is that they are self sufficient and automated because they possess technology to detect chakra imprints without the use of sensor-types, as well as being able to perform telepathy via Mind Body Transmission thanks to their Chakra Transmission Communication Device without the need of Ino Yamanaka.
This clearly makes the role of their leader very questionable.
We have already witnessed the Barrier Team function perfectly without Ino Yamanaka. Not only during Kakoi’s time, whose job and abilities are the same and above the current Barrier Team, but also during this era.
During the cohabitation mission with Team 7 and the cyborgs Eida and Deimon, as well as during Code’s invasion, the automated sensing and the staff detected (or undetected Kawaki) chakra signatures using their alarms and their screens, and also contacted Shikamaru Nara through telepathy using their Chakra Transmission Communication Devices.
As of chapters 77, 81 and 88 (and future chapters) of Boruto, Ino Yamanaka is deemed not necessary for the Barrier Team, her role taken over by the staff wearing telepathy devices and monitoring the sensing screens at all times.
One worker of the Barrier Team detecting the Grimes and Boruto and alerting Shikamaru Nara. Other worker also contacts Shikamaru about Kawaki erasing his chakra.
How does the Barrier Team work and what is their role?
Detect chakra signatures that bypass the Sensing Barrier.
Inform the Interception group and send them to investigate. In the new era, inform Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha telepathically.
DISCUSSION
How important is the Barrier Team?
The Barrier Team has experienced a surge of utility in Boruto compared to Naruto. However, being written into the story does not equal being more important.
Originally, they were introduced quite late in the story. Konoha has experienced invasions since Orochimaru infiltrated during the Chūnin Exams disguised as the Kazekage, although their role during Pain’s invasion was decisive to demonstrate that Konoha has countermeasures against enemies looking to enter the village.
Masashi Kishimoto created a group of shinobi exclusively to lead the Barrier Team. This was neglected by Ukyō Kodachi, and he also made it that any sensor-type could replace Kakoi and company.
The equivalent of Konoha's Barrier Team was the Sensor Division. They worked in tandem with Mukta Aburame to discover that the enemy possessed an army of White Zetsu ready, and their captain, Ao, was also responsible of discerning the reincarnated Edo Tensei from the White Zetsu and informing Darui that Ginkaku and Kinkaku were among the ranks.
Ao senses the White Zetsu among the Edo Tensei and the presence of the twins.
So, the Barrier Team is essential to safeguard Konoha from the inside. Detecting anyone on the spot that has entered is one of the first steps to keep its villagers safe.
In Boruto, the Barrier Team suffered a downgrade compared to the previous appearance. Also counting 15 years of technological advancements that could have been implemented within their ranks, but have not happened. Because of Kara’s interests in Kawaki, who is currently protected by Konoha, they must maintain their Sensing Barrier in top condition to detect enemies.
A mistake made by Ukyō Kodachi, who made the Yamanaka clan, or rather, Ino, the leader or responsible of this team, is that he made someone without sensing feats in Naruto, a representative of sensor-types in Boruto. Choosing someone that cannot at least equal, maybe not surpass because it is impossible, Naruto’s sensing techniques granted by Sage Mode even after “nerfing” him, leaves much to be desired about Konoha’s resources and their range of sensor-types.
The failures of the Barrier Team
One of the reasons behind the surge of importance of the Barrier Team is due to Kara’s interests in Kawaki and Code’s desire to destroy Konoha. However, they also shine for their lack of resources and skills; and their lack of applying experience to reforming the new system learning by previous mistakes.
After fighting a large scale global conflict with reincarnated bodies and White Zetsu able to imitate shinobi chakra signatures (i.e White Zetsu impersonating Neji Hyūga to assassinate Sakura Haruno), Konoha’s new automated database and sensing system has not flagged chakra imprints from deceased shinobi like Jiraiya, prompting Kashin Koji to walk into the village as he pleases.
Sakura Haruno discovers White Zetsu's way of copying unique chakra imprints to fool sensor-types.
Moreover, they rely solely on detecting chakra, making shinobi like Kawaki and Boruto, who can erase their chakra flare thanks to their Karma, and Karin, who can erase her chakra at discretion, to be able to enter or escape the village without being detected by the system or lookouts who are extremely apathetic. Not to mention none of the gates have lookouts like the ones in the War or use other sensing methods like Inuzuka clan, Hyūga clan (who used to be members) or Aburame clan alternative sensing skills that do not require sensing chakra.
Hyūga with their eyes, Inuzuka with their noses and Aburame with their beetles being pivotal in tracking and sensing.
The sensors working for the Barrier Team are very limited to sensing only what is inside the Barrier, making their sensory feats only Konoha-wide or Sensing Barrier-wide. This sensing symbiosis with the Sensing Barrier is a problem, which means that sensors' skills scale to a machine rather than having abilities of their own. This problem results in them only sensing people when they have already entered Konoha, but not their approach, thus not preventing anything. If the enemy masks their chakra, these efforts are useless because they will not be detected.
This is more apparent for Ino Yamanaka, who was made into the leader of a sensing team and given prominence as someone that can potentially have above average sensing skills, but has failed to compel.
After having no sensing feats in Naruto, she is given a Konoha-wide sensing range equal to the Sensing Barrier’s Konoha-wide sensory to increase her importance. This way, her sensing power scales to a machine. However, after she debuts being able to sense Delta enter Konoha like a competent Konoha sensor, she gets gradually worse when it is discovered that she could not sense Delta plotting her entrance with Kashin Koji a few meters from the A-Un Gate to trying to sense Kawaki and Boruto knowing she cannot detect anything beyond the gates of Konoha or even being unable to sense Code’s ear on Shikamaru despite being a body part charged with chakra.
The writing made the Yamanaka clan into a sensory clan instead of sticking to their original role (or Inoichi’s role because he was the only member in Konoha like aforementioned) as mind interrogators to gather intel, which was scrapped and the whole family rewritten. This inclusion makes it all the more forced and nonsensical.
Inoichi Yamanaka and the Analysis Team using Psycho Mind Transmission.
Her lack of skills and Naruto’s necessity to use Sage Mode to do the job of the Barrier Team, has led the writers to dispose of Ino and keep writing their failures without her, as she really makes no difference in or out of the team. This means that any sensor, even Moegi Kazamatsuri who according to Ukyō Kodachi in her character trivia, got perfect sensing skills to replace her; just like Kakoi was serving the same purpose and was replaced.
Ino’s skills as a sensor and telepathist are easily replaceable by the Barrier Team’s automated sensing and Chakra Transmission Communication Devices. So her accomplishments could be replaced or she could be removed from the story (like she already has been) because she is fulfilling a role that should not be hers while also failing to do it decently. Connecting Eida, Shikamaru and Amado could be performed by headquarters with their telepathy devices and sensing is performed by a machine.
Could they be redeemed?
The greatest disadvantage of the Barrier Team is their small sensing range and their inability to rely on other sensing methods than chakra perception.
After exposing the main problems related to not erasing deceased people’s chakra imprints from their database and failing to boost their system in case of emergency, there are a few points to make in order to make the Barrier Team a competent and compelled facility:
Keep Ino away from their ranks as she makes no difference, while maintaining the automated system which includes alarms, visual screens and instant telepathy.
Reuse Kakoi’s greater Sensing Barrier to track Konoha’s forest area before the A-Un Gate.
Use other sensory and perception techniques from other clans like Aburame’s beetles, Hyūga’s Byakugan and Inuzuka’s ninken/sense of smell to counter shinobi’s ability to erase their chakra signature.
Put the Akimichi clan in the lookout by every gate like they used to guard the Logistical Support & Medical Division during the Fourth Shinobi World War, this way being able to see approaching danger and fighting them before their entrance to give Konoha time to elaborate a plan.
Considered the most powerful shinobi village, using past experiences and the full power of Konoha's shinobi forces, their clans and their technology, could prevent infiltrations; as well as giving each member of a clan their deserved time to show their abilities.
Note: The Fourth Shinobi World W4r has been replaced by global conflict to avoid mature content flags.

27: Nobody Home
(previous)
despite its best efforts, anchor, too, has changed.
->contains gore, graphic description of corpses, mentions of child abuse
.
.
.
The road to Anchor is not the impossible maze you remember. It has been corrected, its kinks and wrinkles ironed out into perfect, smooth normalcy. You drive west out of Prismville and the rocky, steep hills turn to level streets, pockmarks and potholes to smooth, new asphalt. Is this arrogance? Are they so confident in the destruction they’ve caused, so certain that there is no one in the whole splintered wreckage of the Drift still able and willing to bring retribution? Is it an invitation? A trap?
It doesn’t matter. You’ve come a long way to get here and there’s no turning back.
You see the iron fence, the freshly cut grass, the picturesque shopping avenues and cookie cutter suburbs, uniform rows of American Craftsman houses. You see the gate shut tight between stone pillars, Anchor’s name embossed on steel. It’s colder than you remember. A layer of frost blankets everything. There is no one at the security checkpoint to greet you. There’s not even anyone gawking from the end of their driveway, no passersby watching you with disapproval. In fact, Anchor looks strangely abandoned. You roll down your window and don’t hear anything. No talking. No footsteps. No signs of human habitation. You shiver. You can see your breath.
There’s no one, but there is a car parked right at the gates haphazardly, crumpled front end and bent iron bars suggesting a high-speed collision.
You know that car, you realize; a bulky, silver SUV with snow tires. The fact that there’s no one inside, the driver side door left ajar, keys still in the ignition, doesn’t quell your rising dread. Your fingers tingle with dull, prickling sensations. The frostbite has reached your knuckles. Soon, you won’t have any feeling left in your hands.
[NOW PLAYING ON THE RADIO: BLINDNESS BY METRIC]
For now, you stick to the plan. You pass the front gate for the courier entrance, a smaller, less grandiose gate on Anchor’s far side. You left in such a hurry before that you never got a good look at the place. No security outpost, no one waiting around to interrogate you, but there is an intercom system and some kind of scanner. Jamie rummages through your backpack for the chameleite Iridesce gave you. When you hold it up to the scanner, it beeps and a green light flashes. The gate rattles open.
Iridesce was right; it’s fully automated, and it accepts the same piece of chameleite no matter how many times you scan it. Still, it seems odd that you manage to get the entire Nelton convoy and the Verlindans inside this way. Someone should have come down to investigate by now. But as you scan the chameleite a final time and drive through the gate, you find only drifting fog and empty streets.
There’s no one here. No one driving downtown, no one strolling down the sidewalk, no one in the shops or the offices. The deeper you go into Anchor, the colder it gets and the more the sky darkens. You pass through a suburb as silent as a cemetery and catch a whiff of blood on the wind. There are subtle hints of something terrible happening here, ghosts of fear and violence. Doors left wide open in haste; a crimson handprint smeared across a patio door. The only definitive sign of carnage is a corpse with red slush for a head lying in a driveway.
Bloody footprints splatter down the sidewalk and trek through the snow. He hunted here, but not in earnest. He was flushing out his prey, watching where they went. Following them back to the nest.
A knock on your window startles you. It’s Glenn, brushing a fine layer of snow from his shoulders. “I don’t like this,” he says.
Jamie shakes their head. “We need to keep going. The labs can’t be far. Let’s stick to the plan for now, see what’s going on inside.”
“I’m not saying we need to back out, I just don’t want us getting taken by surprise. This reeks of an ambush. A few of us should go ahead, do some reconnaissance.”
“I really don’t think this is the time to split up. But fine. Courier, what do you think?” Jamie asks. You don’t answer. Your attention is fixed on the suburban yard to your left. “Courier?”
There’s a human arm lying there. There might be a body attached but you can’t tell, stiff fingers and blood-speckled wrist the only things poking out from behind a trimmed hedge. Looming there, just peeking around frost-glazed leaves, you see the very edge of a winter coat’s fur-lined hood; a glove clutching a gore-soaked tire iron.
He doesn’t run at you. He doesn’t move at all. You watch him and he watches you, and then he retreats out of sight. You would wonder if you’d seen him at all if not for the arm still lying there, the blood sprayed across the front porch. What do you know about the Road Ripper? You’re marked. It’s you he wants but he’ll pick off anyone he comes across in pursuit of the hunt, waiting until his bloodlust reaches its peak. He can find you no matter where you go.
As long as the snow can get in, so can he.
“We keep going,” you say. “We stick to the plan for now.”
The labs are just as you remember them, the architecture drab and aggressively modern, everything unfriendly gray and harsh, clinical white. The convoy parks up and down the street, reconvening for one last discussion before you proceed. The last time you were here, you walked through the front doors. That isn’t an option today; there’s a metal shutter just past the glass, a wall of immovable steel. The windows are blocked with the same heavy shielding. You hadn’t expected everything to go smoothly but you didn’t think you’d get locked out so soon, either.
“Have a little faith, courier,” Malachi says, offering a smile. “This doesn’t change much. We knew we’d need to talk our way inside.” Iridesce, too large to fit in anyone’s car, unfolds herself from the back of Malachi’s truck. He helps her out with a hand to steady her, the back of his car dipping momentarily beneath her shifting weight. “Jamie, you mentioned there are cameras at the door. You, Iridesce and the courier should stay out of sight until they start letting us in. Keep your heads down. Garvan, what will your people do?”
The Verlindans looks strangely unbothered by the cold. Even Garvan and the rest of the Stag’s allies, unabashedly nude, show little more than the occasional twitch of the nose in discomfort, sometimes shaking snow from their heads. Most of them have already started to walk away, ambling further down the block to another building connected to the main lab.
“We wait here,” Garvan says. “We’ve got reinforcements coming and we’ll be taking our own way in.” He turns to you, his nostrils flaring. He smiles, baring his sharp teeth. “I can smell them, courier. They’re afraid in there, as they should be. Good hunting. We’ll see you on the other side.”
It makes you uneasy to separate but you nod. This is the smarter decision; splitting your forces, keeping Anchor on their toes. Malachi and the others approach the lab doors while you and Jamie huddle together in the cold. Something blocks the wind suddenly; Iridesce stands at your back, wrapping her arms around you both.
You hear an intercom crackle. The voice coming from the speaker is muffled, barely audible over the howling wind. It sounds familiar, you think. A woman’s voice, brusque and standoffish. “Wh—what the fuck? Hello?”
“Why are we locked out?” Malachi snaps. You’re startled by just how harsh he sounds. His tone is always so soft and cheerful. Iridesce squeezes you gently, mistaking your stiffness for cold or maybe worry. This is part of the plan. He has to speak with a particular sort of arrogant authority, snide and certain. He has to sound like he belongs here. He went out of his way to change before you reached Anchor, trading his cossack for a white button up, blue sweater vest and slacks. You have no idea how well he looks the part of an Anchor resident, but you can’t imagine the camera can make out much of anything through the blowing snow.
“Why are you—are you kidding me? We’re on lockdown! What are you even doing outside? You’re supposed to shelter in place until the alert’s lifted.”
“That’s ridiculous! You’re telling me we’re all just supposed to stay in our homes and die? That thing is still out here!” Malachi manages to both look and sound enraged, talking over the woman’s sheepish stammering. “You can’t do this to us. It’s inhumane. This place is supposed to be safe, it’s supposed to keep things out. You can tell Gallagher he’ll need to get himself a new goddamn research assistant, I’m finished with this.”
“Hold on, you’re staff?” the woman says quickly. “You should’ve been here hours ago. They already sealed the bunker. Look, maybe—if you scan your ID card—”
“My ID?” Malachi says, laughing sharply. “You want to see my ID? I ran here with nothing but the clothes on my back because some maniac broke my door down and not a single fucking security officer is answering my calls. You think I have my ID right now? You think I thought to myself, ‘Gee I better grab my whole briefcase in case some bitch at the lab decides now’s the time to play Rules and Regulations?” What else do you want, my birth certificate? My fucking resume? That lying son of a bitch Gallagher’s letter of recommendation? What a great fucking place Anchor turned out to be—”
“Jesus, alright!”
There’s a shrill electronic noise, a warning chime, and then the metal shutters at the front door rattle open. Malachi doesn’t waste any time, propping a door open with his shoulder and rushing everyone inside. You and Jamie could duck into the crowd easily enough but Iridesce stops you. “You two behind me, dears,” she murmurs. You understand why immediately. The moment the three of you get within range of the camera, that brief alarm rings again and the protective shutter starts to fall.
Iridesce catches it with one hand, steel creaking and bending from the unyielding force of her stone palm. She gives the camera a cold smile and nods sharply at the doorway for you and Jamie to scurry inside.
Inside, the stench of blood is overpowering. The violence you saw in Anchor’s suburbs looks tasteful compared to this carnage. Bodies are strewn all across the lobby floor. The floor is slippery with gore and melted ice, blood and brain matter sprayed and splattered on every surface. You see the Ripper’s preferred blunt force manner of execution amplified to new sickening levels. Some of the corpses are barely recognizable as human anymore, so brutalized that all you see is meat in red-soaked clothing. The dead are frozen mid-crawl in search of safety; several lay behind a welcome desk. Others are clustered hopelessly by the metal coverings on the windows, hands still outstretched for corridors they never reached.
You move cautiously at first, your group sticking close together, nervously peeking around corners before you proceed, but it soon becomes apparent that there are no survivors. Not here, at least. Anyone still alive has fled deeper into the labs. All that’s left is eerie silence, the faint echo of an alarm in another hallway.
A creak in an open breakroom makes you flinch, stepping back in anticipation of an ambush. Before anything can move, Iridesce surges past you. You hear a scuffle; a table and chair crashing against the wall, a scream cut off. Iridesce lurches back out of the room dragging someone behind her—a woman in a labcoat, nacre fingers squeezing her throat. You recognize her, you realize, her auburn hair and sharp, watchful eyes.
“Meryl Underhill,” Iridesce murmurs, tossing her to the floor. Meryl scurries back, trying to get to her feet, but Iridesce slams a hand on the wall beside her head and cages her in. “Where are you off to in such a rush, hm? I’ve got some questions for you.”
“It wasn’t me,” Meryl says hurriedly, hands up in a pacifying gesture. “You—you were there, courier! You saw me, you saw, I was just passing through—”
The wall cracks under Iridesce’s fingers. Stone dust and plaster trickle to the floor. “You’re an opportunistic little snake is what you are. I know you requested access to the mines, Underhill, I keep very meticulous records. Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t rip out your spine.”
“Because it wasn’t me! It wasn’t, I swear! That’s all Dr. Gallagher. He coordinates everything. He has a repair technician set off the anchorware, I don’t even know how it works!”
“A repair technician,” Iridesce echoes, scowling. “Like our John Doe, I suppose.”
You’ve all seen him before; the man who could be anyone. Forgettable, unremarkable, a face that slips your mind the moment you stop looking at him. Even now, you struggle to remember him beyond his sharp, professional style and black gloves. In Nelton, he introduced himself as Bachman. Jamie knew him as Tiptree. Iridesce told you before you left Prismville that he was in the city’s records as Lange.
“You lied to me,” you say. Iridesce glances back. She moves slightly, giving you space to look at Meryl, who stares up at you wordlessly. “You said you were from the University. You said you didn’t know what happened to New Ridgeway.”
What kind of apocalypse works that way? she’d said, knowing full well it was Anchor.
Meryl’s shoulders sink. “I didn’t agree with that, you know,” she says. “I didn’t think it was right. And I know that doesn’t matter, and you don’t believe me. Of course you think I’m a monster. I don’t think you’d understand it even if I tried to explain. The Drift doesn’t bother people like you, courier, but the rest of us? Normal humans? We don’t want to live like this. I know it’s—it looks ugly from the outside, but we’re trying to make the Drift better, safer, for everyone—”
A twinge of anger stings your heart. “I’m the one who wouldn’t get it?” you say, your voice rising. “What do you mean the Drift doesn’t bother me? How could you possibly know that? How could you know anything about me or what I’ve been through? It’s normal humans who hurt us more than anything. Not because it’s in your instincts, not because you’re hungry or even scared. You think we’re too different. That our suffering isn’t the same as yours.”
You’re thinking of Compass Hill and its factory and its cruelty, a town full of children robbed of childhood. You’re thinking of Jamie’s mother—exploitation disguised as outreach, a child lying on a cold exam table and a wet, wriggling thing slowly brought closer. You’re thinking of Nelton and all the memories shared with you in brief, surreal flashes. Two boys in a church and one who’s bleeding because his father says he’s sick and unholy.
Jamie grabs your hand and you realize your face is wet with tears. You swallow hard and turn away from Meryl. You cling tightly to their hand, only vaguely aware of Iridesce’s calm, quiet voice asking questions and Meryl’s terse answers. The labs are completely locked down. No one is getting in or out anymore. The Ripper was here and Meryl’s only alive because she hid in a janitor’s closet and listened to everyone else die.
“I didn’t think it would be like this,” she insists, her voice cracking. “I didn’t think so many people would die. I thought Nelton was a mistake, that something went wrong—”
“You’re detonating extremely sensitive, extremely reactive reality-anchoring equipment,” Iridesce says coolly. “Did you honestly think the damage would be negligible? Easily contained? It doesn’t matter, I don’t want to hear your excuses. You’re going to get us into the rest of the facility.”
“I…I can’t.”
“You can,” Iridesce insists. “And you will.”
“I don’t have access, I can’t disable the lockdown protocols!”
There’s a burst of static, the droning tone of an intercom announcement echoing down the empty halls. “Courier. I can see over the surveillance feed that you’ve arrived safely. That’s a relief. I was starting to worry, given the conditions outside. Have you given my offer any thought?”
Your throat tightens and your chest burns with fury. He sounds so calm and polite, no different than he did when you met in Prismville, or Nelton, or at the rest stop.
“I’m willing to unlock a few doors, but you’ll have to come alone. We need to talk and I’d prefer a private conversation.”
“Fuck you!” Jamie snarls. “They’re not going alone.”
John Doe hums in amusement. “Let me rephrase. The courier, and only the courier, is welcome. If it helps, Dr. Higgs, consider this less of an invitation and more of an exchange.”
There’s a sinking feeling in your chest. “What do you mean exchange?” you ask.
There’s a brief pause. You can’t remember his face, but you can imagine the feeling you get from his tranquil expression, the unnerving emptiness to his smiles. It felt like he was wearing a mask, always keeping his true thoughts and feelings tucked away. “An exchange,” he says gently. “You, for the Singer of Compass Hill.”

Fan Fiction:
Halo: Locks and Shadows
Master Chief stood in the hangar bay, watching as a group of UNSC engineers carefully secured the last few components of the floating spherical AI unit. The tech, sleek and matte black, hovered silently above its platform, approximately a third the size of the Monitor he had encountered on previous missions. Its smooth surface had small, recessed panels, giving it a minimalist but advanced appearance. Master Chief had been briefed, but seeing it in person made him consider its real value on the battlefield.
"Chief," Commander Palmer's voice crackled through his comms. "Meet your new AI support."
A small green light flickered on the sphere's exterior as it floated closer to Master Chief, its levitation system barely making a sound.
"This unit has been developed after analyzing the Monitor tech from Installation 07," Palmer continued. "It can navigate chutes, tight spaces, unlock doors, and cut through most materials with an integrated laser. Think of it as your own mini-engineer."
"Does it have a name?" Master Chief asked, eyeing the sphere as it bobbed near his shoulder.
"For now, it's just codename 'Sphere,' but your new AI is codenamed 'Kepler.' They've been integrated into this unit."
"Understood."
Kepler’s voice chimed in, clear and neutral. "Reporting for duty, Master Chief. I’m designed for flexibility in combat operations, so feel free to let me know when you need assistance. My laser can also handle light combat situations."
"Good. Stay close, Kepler. We're moving out soon."
Their mission took them deep into the heart of a Covenant-infested facility on a remote moon. The entrance had been easy to breach, but as they delved deeper, it became clear that the Covenant forces had locked down much of the internal structure. Master Chief stood before a sealed blast door, scanning the area for a possible way through.
"I can assist with that, Master Chief," Kepler said.
The sphere zipped forward, finding a small access chute at the top of the doorframe. It hummed as it entered the tight space, vanishing from sight. Master Chief heard faint clicks and electronic whirs as Kepler navigated through the facility’s inner workings. Moments later, the door’s control panel blinked, and the blast door slid open with a heavy groan.
"Door’s open," Kepler confirmed, floating back out of the chute to rejoin Master Chief.
They advanced through the corridors, and when they encountered Covenant resistance, Master Chief handled the heavy firepower, while Kepler darted between cover, using its laser to cut through obstructions or disable smaller automated defenses.
Later, in a large central chamber, they faced a heavily reinforced security system, with force fields blocking access to critical areas. A team of Covenant elites patrolled the perimeter, but Master Chief’s priority was deactivating the security system without alerting them.
"I’ll head into the ducts and access the control panel from the inside," Kepler suggested.
"Do it," Master Chief replied, keeping his weapon trained on the elites.
Kepler darted into the narrow ventilation shaft, moving quickly and quietly through the twisting pipes. Inside, Kepler found the central control hub and deployed its laser, cutting through the metal housing to expose the circuitry. The AI accessed the panel, bypassing Covenant encryption with precision. A moment later, the force fields blinked out.
"Security's down," Kepler reported.
Master Chief moved in, neutralizing the Covenant patrols with swift, calculated strikes. As the last elite fell, Kepler returned to his side, its glowing light indicating readiness for the next challenge.
"Good work, Kepler," Master Chief said.
"Thank you, Master Chief. There are more locked areas ahead, but I’ll keep unlocking doors and clearing paths as we go."
Master Chief and Kepler moved seamlessly through the facility, eliminating Covenant forces and bypassing security systems with precision. The sphere navigated through tight corridors and ventilation ducts, unlocking sealed areas and cutting through obstructions with its laser. Together, they reached the central command center, where Master Chief neutralized the remaining Covenant defenders. With Kepler's support, they accessed the facility’s core and secured critical intel for the UNSC. Their mission complete, they silently exited the compound, leaving behind only the shattered remnants of Covenant resistance.

Umineko - question arcs playthrough -> ep 1 - 11
last part - All parts and episodes - next part
Things are getting worse and worse
she's been telling y'all who the culprit was all along, y'all just don't want to listen.
Also I was looking on reddit at memes and one umineko one was like making fun of people who assume the answer arc will answer shit and that they finished ep 8 and still didn't know the culprit like ....that can.,,happen? God no wait i gotta lock in huh?? no more 'NONBELIVERS"???? well i think for now it's ok since i sincerely doubt you can solve anything with half of ch1 only, but still.... Ig ill have to think *disolves into a puddle and dies*
Wouldn't Kinzo's room be the closest to a safe one? I mean i remember them saying that only Genji had the key to his room, and in rest it's all done with an automated system.
Am i smart or am i smart ? (I think i'll become the queen of pointing out the obvious atp.)
Sooo true, save this here to keep it in mind, but yeah while something may seem like the most logical answer for the opponent, they might've not done it because perhaps they haven't thought of it. Variables variables...
they all go to hide in Kinzo's room, and at the entrance, Maria says how the door is built to not let magical entities in, having the same symbol drawn on it as the charms she gave to Jessica and Battler. So Beatrice couldn't have entered this room with her magic, and instead the theory that Kinzo left it of his own accord is probably right. That or Eva was right about Natsuhi or she lied about the receipt OR a secret door exists.
oookay this changes things quite a lot. Basically, he said that Beatrice existed but she died. So does this suddenly turn into a ghost story? No i don't think so.
Yk what would be the funniest thing Beatrice could do rn? Appear lmao. But yeah no good resolution too bad it's almost definitely not the real one. Or at least not the entire story for sure.
Wait wait wait, will this imply that Kanon and/or Shannon were Kinzo's children?? Hmm i mean, maybe it could explain Kanon's words. Or maybe just someone in that orphanage. I don't know if I'm sold in any way but i'd argue it's something to keep in mind.
Ok they say he used the orphans as human sacrifices which we know isn't true cause Kanon kind of died of his own will...to some extent. Idk i don't believe it rn, but again, good to keep in mind.
FINALLY. Took them this long huh.
Huh so my earlier theory was wrong, the twilight doesn't literally mean twilight. Then i sure wonder what will happen at the end.
If this isn't magic and someone is doing all of this than props to them they sure are a good actor.
Look i get it these people are very worried and do not know what to do. I'm not gonna call them stupid or say they should've acted another way, but i hope next time loop/whatever going back in time will happen they will figure out that maybe they should take the "get my gold" threat more seriously.
She's so cool but at the same time she's so getting stabbed soon. I can just feel it.
They're dying.
:C poor Maria....She deserves better parents. Pls guys fix it fic with Maria found family,
so later they realize the whole purpose of the letter was to divide them, and bring fear. A phone call comes in which you can only hear Maria's distant singing, and the people in the room panic and go out as to find and help her.
Oh god...she'll be singing next to the corpses, won't she? Also, i wonder what she's singing.
ofc i was right. Also *points finger* I know this image! it's the one in the thumbnail of the "Answers to all Umineko crimes and murders" video that kept being recommended to me on youtube! I cannot wait to watch it tbh, i bet I'll be like"HUH??? NO WAY!? HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO GUESS THAT?!" the whole time.
So she is somehow blood related to Kinzo? I mean it being his wife would also work but I'd say daughter works better. Idk I'm saying bullshit, I'll just make a note of this.
ok so Natsuhi is invited to a duel with Beatrice and when the children find her, she has apparently shot herself. Maria then starts running towards the portrait where apparently Beatrice was, and we can hear her voice laughing. Then we cut to a sort of retelling of the events from the police's perspective, and apparently, they found the story about what happened on the island in a journal written by the one and only....*drum rolls* ....MARIA! now this wouldn't be that big of a surprise except we are also given the last line of the journal which says...
