VMA’s 🔮📺✨

 Well another year, another VMA’s. Personally, I love the VMA’s so much. I look forward to this day all year. Right after the VMA’s end I’m ready for next years. This year the VMA’s were held in New Jersey (my home state!!!) for the first time ever at the Prudential Center, in Newark (where I saw Lorde and Demi Lovato last year). I wanted to go to the VMA’s this year sooooo bad you have no idea. I tried but you have to be 18 and im only 17 :) hopefully they’re back here next year because this year’s ceremony was AMAZING. I enjoyed this years show SO MUCH. Every moment I was glued to the TV absorbing every second of iconic-ness. Sebastian Maniscalco tried his best as a host but, he’s not fit for the role. I’m so happy with all of the winners. Some highlights: Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift all won 3 awards (the most of the night). Ariana won Artist of the Year (finally, after being nominated 3 years in a row) Song of the Summer for “boyfriend” with Social House, and Best Art Direction for “7 Rings”. Billie won Best New Artist, Push Artist of the Year, and Best Editing for “bad guy”. Taylor won Video for Good and Video of the Year (for the second time) for “You Need to Calm Down” and Best Visual Effects for “ME!”. Other award highlights are Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus winning two awards including Song of the Year, the Jonas Brothers winning their first VMA ever for Best Pop, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello winning Best Collaboration (Shawn’s first VMA) and Normani winning the VMA for Best R&B for “Waves (ft. 6lack)”, a very underrated song.

My top ten favorite performances of the night ranked:

1. Lizzo - Truth Hurts & Good as Hell

LIZZO!!!! I have been a stan of Lizzo’s since 2016 when Good as Hell CAME OUT and was featured in “Barbershop: The Next Cut”. I loved that song so much I immediately loved her and followed her on everything. I am so happy that she’s finally getting her dues. She’s such a needed artist in everybody’s lives because her music is incredible. Its honest, vulnerable and inspiring. Just like her performance tonight! That ass was everything, stopping to drink tequlia was iconic and her energy was amazing. 

2. Lil Nas X - Panini

oh Lil Nas X, I have some news for you... I’m a stan! This was the most jaw dropping performance for me tonight. I wasn’t really expecting anything and wow did he prove me wrong! I loved everything. The choreo, his energy, the outfit!!! He did a GREAT JOB.

3. Miley Cyrus - Slide Away

my girl. Anyone that knows me knows I love Miley so much. I wasn’t expecting her to come after she said “no fucking way” to a fan asking if she was performing back in July, but here we are! I saw my phone this morning and my jaw dropped completely to the ground when MTV tweeted that she was performing. I was so shook but so happy. This performance was so beautiful. I’m so happy she made it in black and white and had violins. They really added to the vulnerability she was displaying and the vocals she was serving.

I love Shawn, but usually his performances are very mediocre and bland to me but tonight he finally showed a different side his performing abilities. I liked this performance sooo much better than any other solo performances he has ever done. The energy was incredible.

final thoughts:

I am so happy this years VMAs were so fun and entertaining. From the performances to the awards, I loved every second. It just seemed like one huge party I was too young to attend :)

The Hallowbaloo festival brings an epic celebration of music, food, art and Halloween cheer back to the streets of Chinatown for its 2017 edition. This heritage district served as the epicenter of Hallowbaloo from its first year in 2008 thru 2014. With its historic storefronts and ecclectic combination of restaurants, galleries, boutiques and bars, there's no better place for celebrating Halloween Hawaii-style.

Hallowbaloo 2017 transforms the neighborhood into a kaleidoscope of costumed revelry with entertainment (3 stages), ono eats (food trucks & pop-ups) and refreshments (multiple bars) served up to festival-goers on Nu'uanu Avenue and surrounding streets. And when the festivities wrap in the street, the celebration continues in multiple bars and clubs in the neighborhood. One wristband gains you service at all street bars and entry into all particapting clubs. Plus, new this year are craft beer tastings with craft beer stations setup at Hallowbaloo's street festival and a special VIP offering that provides participants with a complimentary Hallowbaloo stein, street fest beer tasting and express entry into participating venues (skip the line).
