in caelid wayponts ruins before open the door to actire the chest with the meteoric ore blade, the tombs had the scarlet rot fungus inside and something like eggs and the fact that a servant of rot with pest babies in this place make me think the pest are likely born from these mushroom but i remmeber in the bottom of elphael where miquellan knights and the pests there habit the place next to each other in front the graves. the miquellan knights are not hostile to the pest you can say they are zombies what is true but maybe they are not agressive because the pests are their comrades who are reborn after death 'Those who dwell within poison know rot all too well. The death that begets life, that comes to all equally. the fact they are next to the meteoric ore blade with gravitas a ash of war that pull things related to alabaster lords, the path to astel and i think above the lake of rot had a giant purple crystal formation , and the tunnnel with a falling star beast. could be a some connection i dont know. could be the outer god of rot came to earth from the extraterastrial beings like astel and the falling star beast like a virus . could be because the kindred of rot was the sellians and the sellians are scion of eternal city and associate with gravity sorceries(is more complicate than that but i will lose track more than i already did ) but pests doesnt use magic.

and there is gowry who when hit reveal a kindred of rot but i dont think he is really one, he cant be killed while millicent is alive, when the player kill her before reach the haligtree gowry feel someone killed her and is sobbing if the player kill him he will not respawn and drop the bell bearing , when the player betray millicent, gowry die in his normal pose and drop the bell bearing, what could mean his body isnt one of the pests. but his last dialogue when millicent take of the needle:

'Millicent, my daughter. Why would you take out the needle? You were so close. So very close. To becoming the fairest of all flowers. Would you disown us too? As your Mother did? We children of the scarlet rot?Millicent... Malenia... Do you detest us, so utterly?''

maybe the term that gowry use is diferent in japanese, but for me this is a paralel with the fact kindred of rot are the malenia children that she forsaken because she doesnt want to be their godess, but why woulod the miquellan knights doesnt try to fight against them?

I want to correct myself, 落とし子 is used for children born from rituals only, it's used for Kindred of Rot, not for Malenia's spawns, which leads to question how and why Kindred of Rot were turned into insects.

I agree with their connection to the stars, I believe Malenia's master was also Nox, considering usage of "flowing weapon"

My crackpot theory is that Nox used to have Empyrean posessed by Scarlet Rot, similar to Malenia.

Speaking of Miquella's Knights, maybe some of them were turned into Kindred of Rot? That's why their comrades don't want to fight them?
