lowk very specific question, but ages ago, as in a month or two ago, you were recommending a book, or a movie (i think it was a book though), to zam, and you really enjoyed the structure and very technical aspects of the book i think (?) and i was wondering if u remembered... what book it was.... ive been trying to find the stream it was in but i. gave up. u guys were jumping on the flags at spawn during the convo... bit of a stretch to imagine u remember that but. yay!

Im so sorry about this yap but I have thoughts about this stream

So for a bit of context, I find cKab's character super interesting specially in contrast with the server and it's players because her expectations are very... odd? The reason I say this is because she's already super stubborn from the get-go, by this I do mean that a good example is when during her Cali Girls time she was dead set on making him miserable because she disliked his morals, which she had misunderstood and refused to acknowledge she may be wrong until way later on... and this does shine up in most lore yaps with the fact she rarely backs down and misconstrues what is said to support her bias then like the whole wanting an unconditional ally/friend when she herself is very conditional and is likely to turn around at the slightest hint of conflict, because I'm honestly shocked? impressed? how quickly she was ready to drop Zam when he didn't let her walk over his boundaries, wasn't willing to prioritize her over his own goals/safety and also kept expecting more without ever voicing it. I really do find it interesting that she insists that she is unconditional, then does this

and adding onto it, I've kinda seen the tendency to try having a hand over her allies? because the whole projecting onto Zam because he wanted to be independent and didn't take the armor, then trying to prod into devotions when they were at the tree farm (the whole "Would you ever betray Zam?") and... it's so odd, it almost seems like she wants to be in a position where they can't afford to betray her but she knows where to aim for in case she betrays I'm already struggling to put everything into words, but I honestly do enjoy her character, I'm curious how this arc will continue and idk if I hope she gets better or worse lol!

What were your thoughts on the devotions in today's stream?

ummm. okay so its complicated LMFAO cause like okay. u need to keep in mind my inherent bias for mapicc in general bc i recognize his wrongdoings and flaws, i just dont care in the slightest. like its still mapicc and i support his rights and wrongs always.

on one hand i do always enjoy dysfunctional and codependent relationships and friendships in general, like i love toxic codependency a lot so obviously i fw whatever the hell zam and mapicc have going on. i also just........support mapicc always. like as long as he is doing what makes him happy. or what he thinks will make him happy, i support him simply bc he is mapicc. even if he has dumbass fucking ideas, theyre usually funny anyways so yk its whatever as long as hes doing what he thinks is best for himself.

on the flipside, i do very much recognize theyre both treating each other very unfairly and i dont think theyre able to communicate everything they need to. it annoys me when people spam in chat "just communicate" bc mapicc avoids talking abt his own feelings and struggles openly in a Normal Way like the plague and zam himself cant FULLY and TRULY be honest abt how he feels w anyone bc he cant even do it w himself. there are so many feelings and thoughts zam has that he struggles HEAVILY to deal w on his own so him being unable to be completely honest w anyone else, even if unintentionally, just makes sense. like no matter who it is— whether its someone he trusts deeply like mapicc, someone who pushes and prods him like kab, or someone who is patient and gentle w him like derap. its not smt that can just be Solved just like that bc its BEEN an issue throughout multiple seasons.

i enjoy analyzing and picking apart the devotions dynamic bc i love them both as characters very dearly and i like their toxic thing. i like that theyre fucked up and codependent but i also recognize that its just very much not healthy for either of them, and i can understand why others may not fw their dynamic like i do since i specifically Enjoy codependendency as a trope LOL

People who have watched more kab streams than me, how often does she drop out of character? I'm just thinking back on s4 how zam was Always Constantly afraid of mapicc, he didn't stop being afraid whenever he got to his base, if anything he was always More afraid in his bases. because from what I've heard and the tiny bit I've seen kab is a lot more willing to jump out of character, even when she's still on the server. Since I've started studying film and video editing (technically film radio and video in general buuuut....), can I just say I find everyone in lifesteal, or maybe even just that entire corner of mcyt, editing style fascinating? I especially think PrinceZam is very unique. it's so intimate in a way?

It's the kind of video you'd make for a friend to explain something, of course you wouldn't if you don't have a passion for editing (one could argue Zams love for editing is teetering.... haha! jokes ^_^) Point is, Zams videos are always fun to watch and less intense to digest? Which is wonderful compared to other povs, sometimes I just want to watch an interesting pov, that offers a good story, someone who is constantly active on the server...

update: i am writing this at 2am dec 24 2024, i have to power through a 3 hour drive at 7am.. t minus 5 hours.... guys zams editing is peak if u take in the contrast of his streams... (like his editings already good but w the streams?!?!?!?!?!)

like if u watch a zam stream and then u watch his videos you go, "yeah! i would summarize princezams cubito life in a video this way! yes!" but if ur a yt viewer (hi! me! that was me ^_^) and then join his streams.... the contrast is actually so amazing.. his streams are so highstakes... like in his videos i'd go "aww jeez... oh no pz... you're really in the deep end now..." as in... i react emotionally, this is true!! but now i watch his streams and... i have to watch the vods for the videos now... anyways! i love princezam video editing!!! i will make a proper analysis because i personally... enjoy... the tech behind a story..... uhm. video editor / sound engineer here!!! im a nerd for that sort of junk.. but yes! i love! tech!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read the Mering essay in the aftermath of ls Sunday, and the shift in the major conflict from what we saw in s4 with Vitalasy and Zam to this new tension with the new players and rp is so fascinating.

With the meeting on Monday, we saw a breakdown in composure from pb&j when the Players refused to show up to the anti-trapping box (so proud of the Players for finally putting their foot down). It was something that bothered me when I first watched it. 

They took such a small conflict, one that they have created for themselves with the arrow cannon (hello the consequences of your actions), and it was the most tense part of the entire meeting.

And it hit me that Minute&co see Lifesteal more as a recording server than a place of Play. Conversations about rules should be done non-canonically, behind the scenes, away from the cameras. But if they have to be in the script (“script”), everyone should show up so the recording can be pretty. 

We’ve seen this before. Conversations on motive shouldn’t be brought up over and over, pvp should be limited for ease of editing, conflicts like blowing up bases shouldn’t be done more than once so it doesn’t get repetitive.

But that’s not Lifesteal. It’s an unscripted free-for-all where every single player gets to have a say in what they themselves do, and it can be wildly unpredictable. The goal is to play, literally have creative fun, within that world and craft a conflict and story within that.

Ro’s line “I feel like- nah - I feel like it’s honestly cooler that like, now there’s no more higher power left. Like it’s down to the players, like this is a human story, not like a let’s get god to revive everyone” 

And Jumper claps back with “and then what do we get out of this”. 

Jumper is looking for a recording solution. Her recording has been messed up a Lot. Woogie, Vortex, Planet, and Terrain have all died. Zam and Mapic and Bacon have all died and now Pangi and Spoke are basically dead since they’re being possessed. 

This vision of a peaceful ending is gone. And pb&j Need a recording-server Kingsmp/Civ event-type plugin to add a revive beacon (something, can I say on the side, exists within Lifesteal already. But thanks to the presidency arc has been taken away. They could advocate for the complete removal of all presidential decisions and I would love that, to have a vanilla Lifesteal ending like season 3, but it is too late. But they do have 86-odd hearts. Reviving everyone would be trivially easy)

Or they could be moved by the narrative and see that the peaceful option? It was never possible on this server. But that's an rp solution soooo

Hey guys, I’ve been a vod-only watcher since the Eclipse betrayal, and I’m finally saying hello! Live streams are painful for me to watch since I’m a chronic pause-to-freak-out-about-the-lore-before-moving-on (or when I’m just deaf), so unfortunately I’ll probably never be in chat.

if you’re unfamiliar with the twist of the smp, basically if someone dies, they lose one of the hearts on their healthbar. they can get this heart back by either crafting a heart or by killing someone. the maximum heart count is 20 and the minimum is 0, but when someone loses their last heart they are permanently banned until someone chooses to revive them

currently, season 4 just ended a month ago and season 5’s about to start next month on july 8th; you don’t need to watch any of the past seasons to watch season 5, think of it like hermitcraft seasons where it resets everytime!

if you don’t know who to watch, there’s this masterpost with various posts about the current lifestealers that can help find someone you’ll enjoy watching :D

if you want general recommendations, i recommend PrinceZam, baconnwaffles0, Parrotx2, and SpokeIsHere! i would say these four are the lifestealers who are most active content-wise (zam and bacon moreso for streams while parrot and spoke more for videos)

whats your favorite lssmp dynamic, mel? what inspires you the most? which moment of them you cherish more than other? and which one youd prefer to forget 💫

uhhh. okay. um. just a heads-up, i'm still relatively new to lifesteal and not fully caught up with everything, but i'll just talk about stuff i like about it, i guess. long yap session below. ^_^

i assume you mean dynamic as in between players, so i'm taking this as an excuse to yap about some. my top favorites are definitely eclipse, pmc, pride duo and devotion duo. those are the one's i am absolutely not normal about. eclipse is pretty obvious, they were the first trio i actually fully got into, and they still have a huge spot in my heart. they're incredibly tragic and they were most definitely doomed by the narrative from the start and were destined to completely destroy one another. (which clearly ended up happening). pmc and pride duo were also one of the first ones i took quick interest in, and while pmc also falls into the doomed by the narrative dynamic i love so much, i just genuinely enjoy the whole dynamic of their team. pride duo also have a big soft spot in my heart, their entire thing in s5, their opposite goals, where spoke wanted to just get away from the chaos he has caused, while planet was chasing power, exactly the way spoke was, so spoke had to give him the whole talk about how much power messes people up, and then planet, spending so much effort on getting the hearts, wasn't able to betray spoke in the end because they formed a genuine bond... they make me ill. don't even get me started on devotions. it was a whole journey that started with me not even enjoying their dynamic that much, and right now i'm completely obsessed with these freaks. there's simply too much to talk about with them and i don't know if i can even properly get into it. okay, about inspiration, honestly, i just really enjoy the different storylines and how well certain characters contrast with one another. like zam put it in one of his recent streams, since there's no script to it, it feels very natural and genuine. how people interact, how they react to situations, how they deal with things. also just the whole thing with hearts is such an interesting concept, it was a big part of why i even took interest in ls in the first place. i'm not sure if i can name a specific moment i cherish, but i can definitely tell you what i'd like to forget. season 4. specifically, eclipse federation. they owe me the most therapy sessions out of everyone else.

[long] U TURNED ON ASKS YIPPEE!!! hi i’m that recent anon, i love ur posts so much :))) thank you for everything, and the fic you linked was incredible! that facet of swagdoons in which red is so so painfully genuinely in true love with ash, under all the layers of power plays, through the real pain of each and every one of ash’s betrayals… i will die!!!! and thank you (& your friends) for posting about the casino quartet, i am soooo thankful for the introduction to the best polycule ever. one thing i love about the casino quartet is how clown and branzy are obnoxiously public (people know so many details that they really did not need to know) (hence people feel so confident that they’re genuinely devoted & reliant on each other that they’ll try to use one against the other) (prime example: the season 3 obsidian trap), while ash and red are obnoxiously private (no one understands what the fuck is ever going on between them) (no one knows how to manipulate their dynamic, no one can properly account for their incomprehensible relationship while trying to strategize) (prime example: boosfer’s phobias video). i like to imagine that clownzy are the closest people to the internal workings of swagdoons (they see the domestic arguments & the intimacy behind closed doors, listen to their private rants about each other, were present for some of the loaded swagdoons history that ash and red don’t even really talk about themselves). also i watched zam’s first stream of the hardcore smp yesterday [8/21/2022] and i find it so funny how ash will bring up clownzy and clown will bring up swagdoons. (ash announces he’s going to recite “the bible: part 2” and reads aloud a clownzy angst fanfiction; clown says in the middle of a formal meeting that red should sit on ash’s lap because they’re swagdoons). why are they always like this. and idk if you feel much interest in the latest season of the kaboodle smp but i’m really hoping for some clown x ash homosexualities, to fill out the casino quartet dynamics. as of now, we’ve got clown immediately showing vaguely gay interest towards ash, the mysterious teleporting guy in a suit who violently glitched into a server-wide campfire meeting out of nowhere. (clown: “ooh, who are you~?” ash, who otherwise doesn’t show interest in anyone or anything besides gaining riches: “…where do i know you from?”) (ash: teleports in, kills someone’s pet cat, teleports out. everyone, rightfully: WHAT THE FUCK?! clown: shocked delighted laughter.) (everyone is stuck unable to interact with ash, who keeps ignoring all conversation to ask for valuables. but clown swiftly catches on to ash’s rhythm and uses an emerald to try to bribe ash to follow him & tell him his name, as if ash is a cat. it somewhat works.) (after ash leaves, clown tells the others that he’ll “keep an eye on” the new stranger, who will be “safe in [his] hands”.) i watched this all go down from our beloved ivorycello’s POV [7/1/2023]. anyway uh. hiiii and thank you & all you other regular swagdoonsers on tumblr for the friendly reception :) i’m so excited for lifesteal season five plotlines. for some reason i’ve been Thinking about the intro to season 5 in which everyone gathers around in a circle waiting to start, ash sees this and places himself at the center to make an impromptu dramatic speech LOL, and red is the first to step in with him to tell him to go back to his spot. i’m choosing to imagine this as another instance of the god complex bf with enough power to back it up x the only guy who can rein him in and is bizarrely casual & familiar about it dynamic. ok i’m out ✌️ love you /p

anyways!! WELCOME TO THE CASINO QUARTET ENJOYER GANG!!!! they r my absolute beloveds, god bless. and you’re SO RIGHT clownzy would do so much pda in public and be all mushy (but in the Worst times possible . i am talking about mushy flirting while they are being chased down by the authorities while ash and red are screaming at them to stop and focus on running away. anyways) but i think?? you’re referring to the trap where branzy is held ransom by purple duo and heh as to get clown to “save” him? but yeah . they’re always so closely associated with each other that even in small things (ex someone in the start of s5 warning someone that branzy “knows a guy” in reference to clown) and since branzy is the “weaker” of the two tbh i’m not surprised if someone holds branzy for ransom again this season (i’ve heard whispers of them teaming up again this season so !!!)

but even though there’s been a lot of acknowledgement by other cc’s, there’s not any. record of someone taking advantage of their relationship yet? like you said the closest thing is the one of them is lying video but like, that video was arguably where swagdoons showed their trust the Most (esp with cheating during spilt or steal . that was SO them) but. yeah the way their relationship is very subtle . there’s no real massive declaration of love but small moments (which. i think why there’s SO many swagdoons clips that r just small gestures but swagdoons enjoyers still go BONKERS over <- big enjoyer of their streams for that reason) (and as a result i associate the song “no big deal (i love you)” by dodie with them . a lot of the one is about not verbally saying i love you but. yk. the love is still there and strong . love that song in general so <3) but Yeah i do also like the idea that clownzy r one of the Only people who see swagdoons be domestic with each other in full . something something about casino quartet being domestic and trusting each other so much here willing to stop all of the facade and be vulnerable with each other

probably zam! I've been keeping up with that pov the most since my partner is showing me lifesteal and he's partial towards zam, for the same reasons I am. you could write psychology textbooks about that guy. and mer has. pretty much. in line with my like of zam I'm mostly interested in eclipse federation stuff and I really enjoy his ongoing dynamic with vitalasy...

aside from zam, I do really like mapicc. he has some of my favorite stream moments that completely blindsided me like him betraying ro in s4 or his fight with minute in s5. he's really good at mcrp type storytelling without it ever feeling forced or separate from his "normal" personality.

I was NOT expecting the end of the Subz stream to be a fucking sign room what the actual fuck. But anyways he loves them both and can’t just choose one of them.

Him and Zam have done so much together this season like when they rebuilt spawn and just eclipse in general. But him and Vitalasy are also glued to the hip and always somehow find themselves crawling back to each other even after everything.

Subz has said in a past stream I believe that he doesn’t enjoy being on teams specifically because of differing opinions. Everyone wants to do their own thing and there isn’t much you can do to stop people from doing their thing.

That leads to infighting and many more problems and eventually betrayal. Don’t get me wrong I love ourpleduo and I want them to be together forever and ever but if it comes down to ANYTHING I personally think it is best for Subz to just.. Run away. Be his own team.

He has tried that before with the pacifism arc sure but would it hurt to try again? He can live on his own terms, make his own plans, because he has things he wants to do to. He should be able to do them without having to hassle with a team about it because they also want to do their own thing.

So I think he should just leave them both, except that is ALSO HARD because that is like abandoning them both and it sucks and this situation suck and I hate this server.

okay so i was watching a content smp video from doctor4t the other day right and this guy is planning to blow up another player's base for revenge and he clearly has spent a lot of time planning and preparing. the day of he mentions hes stressed about blowing up a whole town and clownpierce, who is helping him, is like "welcome to the club buddy" and mentions how this is just another tuesday for him

and this got me thinking. i dont watch that many pvp focused smps so lifesteal is a pretty special beast in my eyes. compared to the wider smp communities ive been in like hermitcraft, empires, or even the life series, a lot of lifesteal players are prepared to commit acts of unimaginable violence at any given time

i think about grian saying "we prank hard and clean up harder" and im like wow this does not apply to the lifesteal smp. and i like to think about how this affects the characters. in s4 for example the amazing thing about 3ht is that they managed to stick together from the start till the end in an environment where that isnt seen very often at all, meanwhile, other players like zam were. not that to say the least. trust issues, betrayal, paranoia, violence, these are par for the course

when i first started watching lifesteal was around the time limited life was ending, and so i was like hmmmmm how would these players react if they were to be mixed with life series players. and i dont have any concrete thoughts but i guess its a fun scenario to think about. i think ppl who like the violence and bonds in life series would like lifesteal, like its that but carried over several months. the video/stream format is very different tho so maybe thats why its harder to get into

at the end of the day i think that the mechanics of lifesteal, where the most direct way of gaining power is to kill, are grounds for characters to be distrusting of one another, where those who trust are killed for it, because its easy to take advantage of that. where true friendship (in character) is rare but its also why its so treasured

i like ls cuz i can enjoy it both for the goofs and for the characters, and i think thats so cool yeah yup yu

Everyone seeing and pointing out Subz’s game movement being bad when running but being a little shocked about it through the chase instead of poking fun despite all the washed jokes they made prior to the whole fight

I'm quix mapicccc tumblr account kkequix :3 also known as The Devotioner. as said in the title my mains are devotions (with a mapicc bias :P) and have been since I started watching streams around medusa arc, falling in love with team awesome, and falling deeper once hsh happened.

I really enjoy doing new things for the fun of it, but my main craft is the clay sculptures I make. I also write short fics and poetry, have done a web weave in the past (been wanting to do another but kind of forgot the idea) transcripting, and other physical art mediums. I'm a big lover of working with physical objects and can often be found Really Happy when I see others doing the same.

I'm also a bit of a liveblogger, but only have a handful of povs that both actually stream and fit into the specific mix of streams ill watch, so most of my perspective s6 has been entirely from zam, with exceptions in mapicc and bacon streams.
