Hello everyone! We have reached that point in the ER Games this year. But before we get into all of that I want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who participated. Fests like this don't happen without you guys, so thank you for thinking this little game could be fun.

Thank you to everyone who read/viewed the works and voted, or shared, or commented, or just engaged in any way. You all keep the motivation high.

Events like this happen because of all of you, so thank you to everyone who was in any way involved in making this happen again.

And now, the thing you're all actually here for: THE WINNERS!

(Please remember that none of these works were judged against each other, just against the categories, and that this was just for fun.)

It was a very close fight everyone! The winning team won by barely more than 1 single point!

Enjoltaire Games 2023

We're back for another year! If you don't know what the Enjoltaire Games are check out our FAQ. Below is the timeline for how this year's ER Games will shake out. The post with this year's theme and team information will follow.

Sign-ups begin on Monday, July 24th and last through Friday, August 4th, ending at 11:59pm Eastern time (GMT-5). Sign-ups will happen via google form, so please watch this space for that to go live.

Teams will be announced on Monday, August 7th so please watch this space for more info.

Prompts will be available for viewing only on Monday, August 7th. and will only be available for people who have signed up. They will also be available in the discord as soon as you join the discord, if you choose to join.

Prompts will be available for claiming on Wednesday, August 9th and will close at 11:59PM EST (GMT-5) on Monday, August 14th. Prompts will fall into three categories: Word based, Image based, and Audio based. Each prompt will be available only one time per team, so the sooner you make your selections the more likely you are to get the prompt you want. If, for any reason, you are not available during any of the claiming period please contact the mod and I will make accommodations for you.

Works are due by 11:59 PM on Monday, October 30th EST (GMT-5). As always this is meant to be fun and low stress, so if there are any problems with finishing please just contact the mod and I will work with you to see what we can do. As this is a team competition there may be a small points penalty incurred for late works, however, so please contact the mod as soon as you can if there are any difficulties. There will be check ins along the way to see how everyone is doing and make sure there are no issues, but if something arises please don’t feel the need to wait for a check in to talk with the mod. That’s what I'm here for.

Posting begins Monday, November 6th and runs until we run out of works. There will be no works posted on weekends, to allow readers/viewers a chance to catch up.

The winning team will be revealed once posting is complete and the mod has had a chance to tally the votes. Keep watch on this space for more information on that further into the fest.

Enjoltaire Games 2023 Info

THEME:

This year the theme for the Enjoltaire Games will be DREAMS AND WISHES. Please remember that you can interpret this theme in any way that suits you. Dreams can be hopes and wishes, or literal sleep dreams, or fantasies, or anything you want to interpret that theme to mean. For that matter, wishes can be simple hopes or something as magical as literal wishes. Have fun with it!

TEAMS:

This year the teams will be PAST and FUTURE. This just means that your work will need to focus on either the past or the future. Pretty simple. It can be something as simple as dreams that a character used to have that influenced where they are now, or hopes for the future, or any other way you want to squeeze these ideas in. That, much like the overall theme, can be taken however you’d like. We try not to stifle anyone’s muse around here.

When you sign up for the fest you will be allowed to request which team you would prefer, but please keep in mind that the teams will need to be at least mostly even for voting purposes, so you may or may not be able to get your first choice of team. Your mod will do their best to be as accommodating as possible, though.

PROMPTS:

The prompts will be available once you have signed up for the fest. There will be a total of fifteen (15) each of text based, image based, and audio based prompts. Each prompt will be available to be claimed once by each team. For example, if team PAST claims prompt Image 3, then one person from team FUTURE may still claim prompt Image 3, but no one else from team PAST may have it.

These prompts are not meant to dictate your work, but simply be used as inspiration. A song could have the lyrics translate to plot, or simply have the tone color a work of art, or a scene in your story. An image could be a direct setting, or simply a painting on someone’s wall. As long as they actively inspire your work and are not an afterthought to your work.

VOTING:

Voting will be based on three criteria: How well the work fits the theme of the fest, how well the work fits the team, and how well the work incorporates the prompt. There will be no voting on talent, or how “good” a work is. That is not what this fest is about and is simply too subjective an idea anyway.

And please remember that these works are not in competition with each other. They are simply being judged for their own existence.

Voting closes two weeks after the work was posted. So, for the earliest posted works that will be Monday, November 20, 2023. For the last posted works that will be Thursday, November 23, 2023. (Although, that is Thanksgiving here in the States, so there might be a slight fudging on that until Friday morning, just to not totally stress myself out.)

POSTING

Posting begins today. Because of scheduling and the number of works there will be either three or four works a day for 4 days. Voting will remain open for two weeks on each work, allowing for a couple of weekends for everyone to get caught up.

Once all the voting has been closed there will a couple of days for the totals to be tallied and then winners will be announced.

In the mean time, please watch this space every day for the next few days for the works created by the lovely lovely participants in this event!
