hello, fellow writers! welcome to my first ever collab, UNLIKELY!!

as I have recently hit a milestone of 500 followers, I have decided to host a collab to interact more with our lovely writers through something fun :) I also owe a big shoutout to @tenderfrailty for creating a collab that I participated in recently! now that I am taking on the host role myself, I just wanted to thank you for being such a good inspiration for how an amazing host should be.

➱ the theme for this collab is opposites attract! you can be as creative with it as you’d like.

➱ examples of what tropes or ideas you could use to represent this theme would be enemies to lovers, overcoming differences as an established couple, two strangers from different crowds meeting under unforeseen circumstances, and etc.

➱ there will be absolutely NO SMUT OR NSFW CONTENT ALLOWED. I just would personally prefer for this collab to be smut-free and open to all readers.

➱ FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. there will be two slots for each member, forming a TOTAL OF 13 SLOTS when excluding the slot I have already reserved for myself. I will continually be updating the availability of each member as soon as I can, but to avoid any additional confusion, I will be messaging each participant a confirmation note of if they secured their desired slot or not.

➱ pairings should only be MEMBER X READER or MEMBER X OC. member x member pairings will NOT be allowed.

➱ all genres (angst, fluff, crack) are accepted as long as you stick to the opposites attract theme.

➱ I will be creating a discord server for all writers to communicate and be directly updated with any news or answers to further questions regarding this project. I will NOT make it required for you to join, but I do highly recommend it. if you choose to join, a link to the server will be messaged to you once I have confirmed that you have followed all the rules and secured your spot in the collab.

➱ the minimum word count is 500 WORDS and it is a MUST to insert the “keep reading” icon after the informational content (pairing, summary, genre, word count, warnings, and whatever else you choose to include) or shortly after the beginning of your story.

➱ as you must read all the rules and guidelines to join, the codeword you will use when filling out your application is “unlikely pairing.”

➱ the due date is MAY 31ST, 2022. the last drop out date is FEBRUARY 28TH, 2022. if there is any reason you cannot submit your story by the deadline, please inform me and we will figure things out from there. (edit: due date will be changed to the end of 2022!!!)

you couldn’t help but smile as you looked down, admiring the way jay’s hand fit in yours, his warm fingers clasped around your own. even after being together for so long, you never got tired of his touch.

he noticed, though, that your attention had been drawn to something other than the conversation at hand, and jay asked rather worriedly, “what? is something wrong?”

shaking your head, you giggled at his question. you met his eyes as you said, “no, there’s nothing wrong. i’m just pleased with how well my hand fits in yours. it’s like we were made for each other or something.”

jay’s cheeks flamed a shade of pink as he rolled his eyes, gaze moving to the pavement underneath you both.

you took the moment of silence to admire him as a whole, from the way his hair fell over his eyes as he looked down, to the way his cream-colored cashmere turtleneck fit him perfectly. it was the one that you had bought him not too long ago.

“i know i’m good-looking, but there’s no need to stare, babe,” your boyfriend said smugly, cutting into your thoughts. at his remark, you could tell his normal self-confidence was back.

it was your turn to blush, shaking your head as you squeezed his hand. “you’re so insufferable.”

“yeah, but you love me,” jay grinned widely, pulling you closer to him.

you let out a fake sigh, side-eyeing him. “sadly, you are right.”

“of course i’m right,” jay quipped, a teasing smirk on his lips as he pressed his closed mouth to your cheek, giving you a chaste kiss.

pretending to be disgusted, you lurched your head back and brought your empty hand up, wiping his kiss off.

jay inhaled sharply, fake hurt on his face as he pulled his hand out of yours. “wow, i can’t believe you just did that.”

you immediately regretted the small stunt when he put space between the two of you. “wait- no, come back!”

“no, you clearly don’t love me anymore,” jay stated, starting to walk ahead, crossing his arms over his chest.

your eyebrows furrowed as you elongated your strides, trying to fall into step beside him. grabbing his left arm, you tugged him back. “i never said that now gimme your hand.”

jay slowed and squinted his eyes at you, but offered his hand regardless. taking it with no hesitation, you smiled broadly, yanking him towards you, and pressing a kiss of your own to his cheek. “there, see? i do love you.”
