[ad_1] Photo: Subhayan Chakraborty/RevSportz As India chased 147 for victory in the third Test against New Zealand in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma decided to take on Matt Henry. He looked uncomfortable against the seam movement and opted for a release shot – a term that has become fashionable these days. The India captain charged at the fast bowler and flat-batted a shortish delivery over mid-on for a four. It never looked convincing. In Henry’s second over, Rohit was gone, attempting to pull a delivery that wasn’t short enough. One of the finest pullers in the game, he was late on the shot. In the first innings also, he was done in by Henry, seemingly caught in two minds – shaping up to play a defensive shot before changing his mind and finding himself in no-man’s land. In a series that was dominated by the spinners, Rohit was dismissed four times out of six by fast bowlers. He ended the series with 91 runs from three matches at an average of 15.16. It was one of the low points of his career. “I have not been at the best of my abilities right from the start of the series. And with the bat as well, I have not been good enough,” he would say at the post-match presser. Has Rohit become a prisoner of a one-dimensional mindset that is affecting his red-ball game? He made a radical overhaul in his batting approach before last year’s ODI World Cup, in accordance with the team’s changed batting template. It feels like he is struggling to get out of that mindset in Tests as well. Sanjay Manjrekar spoke about the trickle-down effect of this, how Rohit has been paying the price for not trusting his defence. “He clearly doesn’t trust his defence anymore, you could see that,” the former India batsman told ESPNcricinfo. Rohit Sharma in Pune Test vs NZ (PC: BCCI) Rohit, though, has decided to stick to his guns. “I played a bad shot, yes, but I don’t regret it, honestly speaking, because that has given me a lot of success in the past. So, I continue to do that,” he told reporters. “When you are chasing a target like that, you want to try and put the pressure on the bowlers. You can’t allow the bowlers to bowl on one particular slot.” Between 2019 and 2021, Rohit had a golden run in Test cricket. He scored 1,462 runs at 58.48 in 16 matches during that period, including five centuries. The biggest feature was the way he improved his defensive technique. The 2021-22 tour of England was a case in point. He played four Tests in that series and scored 368 runs, including a hundred and a couple of half-centuries. More importantly, he faced 866 balls and was never bothered about his 42.49 strike-rate. He was prepared to leave a lot of deliveries. In fact, leaving the ball became so integral to his batting method that when he went to the Mumbai Indians nets after the England series, his coach Mahela Jayawardene had to remind him about playing a few more shots to be in sync with the demands of T20 cricket. Can Rohit go back to his 2021 version? Maybe, the New Zealand series will force him to have a relook at his Test batting approach. “Every now and then, I will reflect about what I need to do as a batter,” he said. Rohit is 37 years of age and horribly out-of-form at the moment. The upcoming five-Test series in Australia (maybe, he will not play the first Test in Perth due to personal reasons) is going to be hugely important for his red-ball future. If he regains his mojo, the Indian team will benefit. Else, the tour Down Under could be Rohit’s last. ENG vs IND, 4th Test, Day 4: India throws down the gauntlet as Shardul, Pant pile on the runs
ENG vs IND, 4th Test, Day 4: India throws down the gauntlet as Shardul, Pant pile on the runs
England’s opening pair made a confident start after Shardul Thakur and Rishabh Pant helped India set England a target of 368 on the fourth day of the fourth Test at the Oval. Scorecard and ball-by-ball commentary Haseeb Hameed (43 n.o., 85 balls) and Rory Burns (31 n.o., 109 balls) put on 77 runs in 32 overs on a placid track that showed little signs of wear and tear after Shardul (60, 72b) and…

Team India defeated England by 157 runs in the fourth Test Cricket match of the five-match Test series. Indian bowlers won this match played at the Oval in London. With this win, India now has a 2-1 lead in the Test series.
Tumblr media
In this match, Team India had set a target of 368 runs against England. In the beginning, the English team seemed to be dominating. But after lunch, the Indian bowlers reversed the direction of the match.
Shardul Thakur gave the first blow to England, after which the players heaved a sigh of relief. By the time of lunch, England had lost two wickets and the match could have gone either way. But after lunch, the Indian bowlers did wonder.
Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja did not allow the England batsmen to stay at the crease. Bumrah looked in his form and took two wickets. Jadeja also spread the magic of his spin. Captain Joe Root was dismissed by Shardul Thakur. R. Jadeja, J.Bumrah, Shardul Thakur took 2-2 wickets in their names. At the same time, Umesh Yadav took a maximum of 3 wickets. M. List of Chennai Super King (CSK) Target Players in IPL 2023
Here is the list of players that might be targeted by the four-times IPL champions CSK in the Mini-Action 2022 to make an impact.
Chennai Super Kings is the most valuable team in IPL as the team has bagged the trophy four times in the IPL. The team undoubtedly is the most intimate team to its fans as several exceptional players had played their part in CSK's journey so far. Their success depends on many factors like the leadership of Dhoni, the presence of great talent in the team, and the franchise’s implementation to keep the team core intact.
Chennai Super Kings, the four-times IPL champions had a disappointing 2022 IPL season as the team remained in the 9th spot standing with Six points. For the first time in the history of the IPL, none of the CSK players managed to cross 400 runs. The orange cap winner of IPL 2021 “Ruturaj Gaikwad” was the player with the most runs. He scored a total of 368 runs for the Franchise in IPL 2022.
CSK is looking for a dynamic comeback this year, the team is strengthening itself under the influence of one of the great coaches of IPL- Stephen Fleming. However, the team is strategizing to add some new names which can boost the performance of the team this year.
Here is the list of Players CSK can Target in IPL 2023 Auction
1) Cameron Green
The 23 years old Australian all-rounder “Cameron Green” had made his international debut for Australia in 2020. The player made his maiden first century against Queensland at Gabba and forced an extraordinary draw all by himself. That outstanding performance led to his first international call-up as his name was mentioned in Australia’s ODI and T20I against team India. The player had earned recognition through his explosive batting as he hit the joint-second fastest fifty for Australia in just 19 balls against India.
2) Ben Stokes
England all-rounder Ben Stokes is one of the most sought-after players in the IPL, however, he decided to opt-out of IPL 2022 due to his injury. Ben Stokes started his IPL career in 2017 as the Most Valuable Player of the edition with Rising Pune Supergiants where he scored 316 runs and picked 12 wickets in the season, after that he was acquired by Rajasthan Royal in 2018 for INR 12.50 crores and in 2019 and 2020 he had a decent form as he even scored a century in this format. CSK has a keen eye for details about him and they won’t miss this chance.
3) Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Has has emerged as the greatest cricketer for Bangladesh. As an all-rounder, the player has consistency in his batting with a wide range of stocks and accuracy in his bowling. An experienced left-handed batsman who has the caliber to change the face of the match is always ready to do a battle against the top team with his canny aggression and excellent temperament.
CSK is looking for the varieties and this player is good at everything, his bat does the talking, his spin deviates sharply and his fielding is tight as always. CSK has no reason not to choose him as Shakib always rallied his team with consistency.
4) Mark Wood
In IPL 2022, the biggest reason for CSK's weak performance was their bowling. From the starting match, the sharpness was missing from the Pavillion side. Interestingly, Mark Wood has this sharpness as he set a new record for the fastest spell in white-ball cricket history. He broke the previous record held by West Indies- Fidel Edward with an average of 149.02 kmph (92.6mph) in four overs against Afghanistan in the T20 world cup 2022. His outstanding performance makes him one of the top contenders in the list of CSK 2023 target players.
There are other names also that CSK might target in the upcoming Mini-Auction as the Team is strengthening at full boost and these names might be mentioned in CSK 2023 target player list.

Chennai Super kings (CSK) Retained players
To make a comeback, CSK tends to retain those high-performance players which can give them an upper hand even in the tough games, and players who have the potential to change the game will probably get retained but those who didn’t get the luck to shine so far will possibly be released from the squad.
Here is the list of CSK Retained Player list (Expected) as all the teams have asked to submit their Retained and Release Player list by November 15th

India : in what panned out to be a fascinating day of Test cricket, an all-round effort from the Indian cricket team helped them pull off a historic comeback win over England on the fifth and final day of Ind vs Eng 4th Test at The Oval on Monday. India bowled out England for 210 inside three sessions to win the Oval Test by 157 runs and go 2-1 up in the five-match Test series.
Brilliant display of batting from Rohit and KL Rahul in India’s 2nd innings helped India set a massive target of 368. The Indian bowlers, especially in batting-friendly conditions, bowled their hearts out to produce a remarkable performance. England kept on losing wickets in regular intervals and could never make a comeback after losing both its openers. Ravindra Jadeja (2/50), Umesh Yadav (3/60), Shardul Thakur (2/22) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/27) played the starring roles.
In the history of Test cricket at The Oval, no team has ever succeeded in chasing a 300-plus target in the fourth innings. The highest score that has been chased down at The Oval in Test cricket is 263.
For the last 44 years, India has not lost a single Test match after taking a lead of more than 300, they have won all 34 games so far and today they registered their 35th win. In 1977-78, Australia had defeated India by chasing down 342 runs.
Earlier on day 4, India were bowled out for 466 in their 2nd innings, setting England a target of 368 on Sunday. At Stumps on Day 4, England were 77/0 and needed 291 runs to win.
Chasing such a stiff target, England openers batted well against the new ball and got off to a great start, helping England cross the 100-run mark in the first 30 minutes of the final day. However, all-rounder Shardul Thakur broke the solid stand in his first over of the day, dismissing Rory Burns with a peach of a delivery.
Just a few overs later, hesitation and confusion between Hameed and Burns resulted in a disaster for the hosts as a fiery throw from Mayank Agarwal to keeper Rishabh Pant resulted in Dawid Malan getting out for just 5 runs.

England can chase record target - Woakes
England can chase record target – Woakes
England can draw on recent experience of extraordinary run chases in their bid to win the fourth Test against India, says all-rounder Chris Woakes. Set 368 – an England record – the hosts reached 77-0 at the close on day four. Ben Stokes pulled off an incredible chase against Australia in 2019, while Woakes himself starred in a stunning defeat of Pakistan last year. “This team has done some…

Huge target of 368 runs: Chris Woakes said – picture is yet to come, we can beat India
LondonEngland cricketer Chris Woakes, who took a total of seven wickets in the fourth test match being played at The Oval, is confident of England’s victory in this match against India.
