Template by @patchworkedits. I spent so long on Photoshop making this, and I’m still annoyed that the font for the numbers isn’t the same as the original dossiers (I am a perfectionist lol), but I am too lazy to find it myself or fix it.

Name: Tenebris Materia. "10/Ten" "Captain"/"Cap10"

The crew only address him by rank ("Captain") or title ("sir"). Even once he becomes closer to them, they refuse to call him anything else.

In status reports, some of the crew affectionately addresses him as Cap10, which he doesn't mind. It's become his written nickname now, differentiating him from all the other captains.

This starts a running joke that saying something is a "Cap10 out of 10" means something is beyond 10/10: it's amazing, flawless, very handsome and/or beautiful. Mark made him a custom mug that says it, which he uses on a daily basis.

He likes to write little post-it notes on the crew's workstations when he's doing his rounds and they're not there for him to give them feedback in person. Everyone collects these notes and competitively compare/brag about the amount and complimentary messages on them.

Other Details:

• He was born with a naturally high charisma somehow. He plays up his "handsome and/or beautifulness" with an air of confidence and can be flirtatious when he wants to be, but he also feels a sense of imposter syndrome from it. People tend to throw themself at him (even literally), but he doesn't know if people like him because of his status, "looks", or personality.

• Has an impressive resume before ISWM, making him relatively well-known in the space community. Although he has experience in a variety of fields because he wasn't sure about what he wanted to do for a while. He knows a lot of first aid (from doing Pre-Med stuff) and is the crew's go-to therapy friend (he has an MA in Psychology). Then a series of coincidences and opportunities made him fall in love with space, and he hasn't looked back since (although he has a lot of interests outside of it, which can only be unlocked after a certain level of friendship).

• Passionate about their mission and a passionate person in general. He is very proud of his crew :)

• He is basically always wearing a helmet and gloves, and only a select few people have seen his entire face (everyone on the bridge, eventually). He's self conscious, especially because people keep saying he's handsome without ever seeing how he really looks like. Maybe one day he will feel comfortable enough to just wear a face mask just around the ship.

• He gave a briefing about it when he got on the ship and despite wanting to know how his handsome and/or beautiful face looks like, EVERYONE is super respectful and fiercely protective about it. Maybe even too much so. One time one of the crewmembers (the one Danny plays that says "catch me" and falls onto the floor when you arrive) accidentally saw a sliver of the Captain's face while he was drinking something. The crewmate was in tears when he told everyone later that he "betrayed the Captain" and that the glimpse of jawline and lightish-tannish skin was "like looking directly at a quasar". This led to him being interrogated and for poor sketches/fanart of the Captain to be drawn. Mark was totally not jealous that someone else saw part of his Captain's face and not him. Everyone covered their eyes whenever they were near the Captain in the mess hall for the next two weeks, despite him saying it was completely unnecessary. This led to many, many messes and spills.

• Wears an all-black ensemble: black jumpsuit, black sleeveless turtleneck under it, sometimes a black trenchcoat over everything if he's cold or heading to Cryo, helmet, boots, gloves, everything. He has pockets absolutely everywhere and is somehow able to fit his electronic pad in one of them. There is an accent color of silver metal scattered around his buckles and things, but for the most part he looks like a techwear edgelord. Mark likens his aesthetic to space and dreamily sees him as being a part of the stars. Also, opposite aesthetics. Why? Because he's the Captain and he can wear whatever the hell he wants.

• Is a good mediator between Celci's logic and Mark's (and Burt's, and Gunther's) chaos and compromises between the two. He has the weight of the entire crew depending on him after all, and is thoughtful and rational when he makes desicions. Although sometimes he wants to go wild and just go Mark's route.

• Chronically stressed and a workaholic, he collects every ISWM mug in his quarters. However, he doesn't drink coffee even though the ship's AI is programmed to have coffee en route, it's for hot cocoa and Earl Grey and mint tea.

• He's good at giving speeches, but ironically hates public speaking. He is a good communicator in general, but tends to enjoy writing better. When he has to give a toast or something, he'll be pacing his quarters days before and writing it out, muttering to himself.

• Does target practice with Gunther, has a book club with Burt and Celci (Burt always wants poetry and Celci always wants nonfiction while he's more of a fiction/sci-fi guy, so it gets interesting), and is best friends with Mark. He's a bit of an ambivert, and he likes interacting with people until he doesn't, then you can find him hiding somewhere on the ship to get some alone time.

• STRONG LAD. He's lean, but deceptively can and will pick Mark up and sling him over his shoulder and run away. The crew unsuccessfully tries not to stare at his arms when it's hot and he's just wearing a black sleeveless turtleneck and his jumpsuit tied around his waist, comedically still with the helmet on.

• He tops Engineer Mark.

Post-ISWM: (because Angst)

• Changed after the wormhole.

• More withdrawn and quiet, scary when angry (usually about crew doing something to endanger their safety/health). He becomes a lot more overprotective of them.

• Flashbacks and night terrors about losing everyone he cares about and endless loops, broken glass, hurting others and getting hurt.

• Became more an entity rather than human with little regard for his own personal safety with an extremely high pain tolerance.

• People say his eyes glow light blue through his helmet when he's upset.

• He tries to talk to Mack a little more: "Completely random question, what do you think about dictatorships?"

• He has a bad scar on his inner wrist from where crystal was ripped out. It's always wrapped in bandages and constantly emits a dull, throbbing pain no matter what he tries.

• Poor memory. He can't always tell the timelines apart and sometimes mixes up certain events and details (cough, Wilford, cough). The crew carefully corrects him.

• Understandably has a much tenser relationship with Mark. They both try to give each other space after everything that happened, but they also are deeply bonded through their shared trauma and have separation anxiety. Although Mark has it considerably worse, and the Captain deeply cares about and wants to take care of him.

• The crew is mostly worried but lowkey scared of him after. They know something happened with Mark and occasionally get strange flashbacks and dreams about things that never happened, but don't know what.

My experiences playing DRG so far (rank 8 engineer main)

Someone said in chat "go without me" and it activated my brain in a way I cannot explain. It's like the primal dwarven self overtook me and I just HAD to rescue them.

Actually this game rewires your brain period. I haven't watched any specific drg guides except for a beginner engie guide and yet my instinct when playing has already become You Are Not Here To Do Damage And Walk Into Enemies, You Watch Your Team's Flanks. I think it's the strongest on scan and Doretta missions, where it's like a parasite in my brain is telling me your teammates and turrets and maybe prox mine trap are doing the dps, go repair things. I actively become scared when separated from my teammates. I barely have 20 hours in this game and it's already having an effect

90% of all gunners are cosplaying Doomguy.

Went into a modded lobby once, not knowing it was a HEAVILY modded lobby. It wasn't marked as sandbox, yet the host had some kind of mod that let them spawn infinite golden lootbugs. I came out of that mission with a solid 100k cred from the gold they dropped. Let me reiterate, this shit was not marked as sandbox.

Tumblr is becoming increasingly hostile to use, not because of the design: this site offers quite a range of blocking and muting abilities but because of deliberate misuse of the tags and aggressive user behaviour, that and the rampant bigotry that's not bannable. Anytime I leave the circle of friends and friends of friends it's less like livejournal and more like old twitter.

The mental health tags are 75% honest folks and 25% what is essentially pro-ana but for indulging delusions and destructive behaviour, people cosplaying mental illness and conspiracy theories like satanic ritual abuse. It's really unhelpful if wading through a tag is a gamble.

I add ten new content mute words a week to get rid of rape fetish, anorexia and self insert fic when using the search engine only to find out that this week they're using rape or barbie in Cyrillic as the tags. tag abusers are exhausting.

the "So you hate waffles!" culture if you don't add a million disclaimers to your posts about anything, I understand that people are traumatized but why the instant leap to bad faith conclusions? How did we get to this PVP culture? Op forgot to mention snake phobia exists in their clearly tagged snake pet photo therefore op is a horrid person. Why are you picking fights at the clearly marked snake appreciation meet up?

Of course, I keep to the small circles, keep my content mute list updated but it would be nice to be able to venture out from time to time.

biography: Khairi's biological mother was far from the ideal parent. She was abusive; mainly due to her labeling him 'odd' since he was completely introverted and uninterested in whats she assumed he should. Her alcoholism and attitude escalated the situation and around age 9, he ended up with him being taken away via protective services and placed in a group home.

While there are many horror stories involving youth in the group home setting, Khai was spared heavy damage. He actually lived in a solid operated home with several others around his age. The staff there were super supportive. Although he never had an actual real family, none of the relatives on his mother's side wanted to commit. The one foster family he stayed with when he was finally taken in at the age of 14 wasn't completely hurtful and but they weren't invested in him either. They laid down basic rules, which he did abide by to keep a roof over his head along with whatever luxuries they did provide for him; or rather that they kept up to date on for whenever they got a new kid when he aged out and had to go.

His bonds were mainly formed at school as through his classmates and friends, he discovered his hobbies. What he enjoyed. Life didn't suck too much when he could dive into his fantasy worlds. In school, his teachers also realized his brilliance and they aided in accelerating him into taking AP courses. By the time he finished high school, he had already achieved his Associates of Science in Engineering.

At the age of 18, he was made to leave his foster home since he was no longer a minor. He crashed from friends to friends place until one of his former physics teacher decided to give him a leg up. Khai was offered a spare room while he looked for work. Taking a brief break from school, he found two gigs; one working part-time at GameStop & also making deliveries in the area for Insta Cart. While he stacked up his personal funds, his teacher helped him apply for grans and scholarships while Khai still furthered his education by returning to community college.

He had a goal of going to MIT, which a lot of people who knew scoffed at since it was such a prestigious school. His intellect and diligence worked in his favor, along with programs and projects he participated in with the engineering program at his community college.

He took his courses left for undergrad part-time to balance his schedule. Though when the acceptance for MIT finally came, life was truly on the upswing. He moved to Massachusetts and began his new life. His last year and a half of undergrad courses, he began the graduate program while nabbing an paid internship.

And then he was told that he's a demigod. Let the adventure begin.

the thing that gets me about hunter's cosplay is the borg eyepiece - meaning that the character was once a part of the collective (hive mind that forcibly assimilates people by cyborgifying them) but has now broken free/was saved and has (re)gained individuality and can now be their own person even if there are some marks left - and the uniform means they're accepted as part of the crew even if they were enemy at some point - and yellow is security but also engineering and all the other positions that ensure that everyone (scientists, diplomats, helm etc) is safe and able to do their part as part of the crew

also fun fact, it used to be that in tos(the shatner & nimoy one) red was operations and gold was command, but tng & ds9 switched them up to operations gold and command red; so hunter went from wearing an actual-gg-uniform command to nerdy-cosplay-uniform security/engineering while staying the same color

Today marks 69 days since I first saw Beetlejuice The Musical! That's 69 😉 days of Beetlejuice Brain Rot keeping a firm grip and probably not letting go until I get to see it again in April (on 4/20 no less!) So to commemorate, I did my first test run of cosplay/makeup and made my first prop. The engineering part of my brain told me I had to do it to scale, so scale and trace it I did. I chose to make it out of felt to make it a bit stiffer while adding texture. Also chose a glitter felt for the "B" because ✨theater✨. Bonus, my BJ-colored/tuxedo cat being a little demon and interrupting my work.

Last Book:

Uhhh I read two concurrently

The Nothing that Is: A Natural History of Zero by Robert Kaplan (1999). Overall a decent book, but has some blind spots. It tries to provide a comprehensive history of human understanding of zero, including its use as a placeholder that makes it extremely useful for more complex calculations. It includes Babylonian use of zero, but fails to include then-current scholarship on Egyptian use of zero in accounting and architectural diagrams.

It provides decent explanations of most of its content... up until math from within the past two hundred years enters the picture. Then I think the author falls down a bit on reaching a lay audience, which it seems to have been geared towards. The last section of the book wanders off into the use of zero and nothing in literature and philosophy, which I feel falls into the trap of presenting the personally important as universally meaningful.

The Atoms of Language: The Mind's Hidden Rules of Grammar by Mark C. Baker (2001). I had somehow remained agnostic about Chomskyist linguistics up until reading this book. Halfway through, I wanted to fight Noam behind a Dennys.

I can and will rant about this book if anybody's interested. I have loud feelings about this book and its subject matter.

Moonlight Blue by Miracle of Sound. For those who don't know what it's about, it feels like a song that would've gone over a fantastic, tragic AMV back when that was more of a thing. For those who know Elden Ring: It's Ranni and Blaidd. And it's really good.

Nikkal, by Heilung. It's their version of an excerpt from the oldest songs we know how to sing, an Ugaritic hymn to the titular goddess. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurrian_songs The tablet it was found on has some missing sections, but it includes musical notation that people have been able to reconstruct. It's 3400 years old. HOW HECKING COOL IS THAT.

Last Movie:

Prometheus, with a friend who knew that I had Loud Opinions about it.

In brief, the movie has beautiful cinematography and visual design, and I have a minor obsession with the Engineers from this movie. The pace of the movie's editing is ever so slightly off in a way that would help increase tension if the rest of the movie wasn't Prometheus.

For context: I have a background in history and archaeology, then switched to genetics. I have a hobbyist passion for linguistics.

This movie is specifically designed to drive me insane. Again, I can and will rant about this if anybody pokes me to do so.

It’s time for some fantasy and magic in the duck pond.  Hank the Ranger is now a cosplaying collectible rubber duck and his plan is to bring some magical energy to the pond.  He has his trusty and powerful bow and arrows with him and is set to make his mark. A must for Dungeons & Dragons fans.

The paint on the first and second models buildings are too strong, they would look fake if you saw them on the street, and the colours used, usual houses have bland colours but these make it look like it's from 1950s America, although in the second image it would look like it could fit because of the dry brushing mud marks that are on the side of the buildings.

Typically, the procedure is to first raise the building, which is then pushed onto temporary rails or dollies. An alternative is to use flatbed trucks. There are a number of professional moving companies that are able to give you the best advice on this process... This relates to our project through the beast that's carrying all of our houses on its back, this also links to Howls moving castle, a film by studio Ghibli's

In the film the house was created through Howl's magic combined with the demon Calsifers strange star magic, it's a bunch of scrap from war ships to regular houses mashed together into a walking mess of a mansion with a mouth and snail like eye's. Another reference to moving cities is mortal engine's.

A bunch of cities on wheels that drive about meeting up with other moving settlement's for trade, traction Cities are vast metropolises built on tiers that move on gigantic wheels or caterpillar tracks. These cities hunt smaller cities (in order to tear them apart for resources and fuel) which in turn hunt towns which in turn hunt villages and static settlements... These two themes differ from ours in the fact is it doesn't move from fuel or magic but moves on its own will and is fuelled by other roaming beast's so it can keep moving to safer area's for the benefit of the humans on its back.

He builds this moving castle from scratch using scrap from around his house, packaging such as bottles were used as the cylinder's, and for the finer details he sometimes kitbashed pieces together to get a small house or anchor, one of his techniques for brick walls was to lay out a bit of super sculpy or something similar and create texture rolling pin from which he can roll on the texture of his wall onto the super sculpy, making the process ten times easier.

The cost of high density foam... The cost of high density foam can range from 0.8 pcf to 6pcf which depending on the pcf can make a product more expensive (Pounds per cubic foot) for example on Amazon for a couple of thin planks of it can range from £7 to £20 or higher (depending on the quality) which is decent pricing for it however you could run out fairly quickly so repeatedly buying this product could be problem for your bank account. You could also get softer foam that could be used for something that's supposed to be spongy in a model like a cloud and you can also get floor foam which is commonly used for cosplay and larger models due to its fairly high durability and flexibility.

He promises to make it as painless as possible, but I know much better.

I give him one final order, to make it as painful as possible, to carve the pain of my life into the soul he is about to take.

Darkness engulfs me, I feel my soul slip out of my body.

I am the Earl Ciel Phantomhive,

The king on the chess board, I lost all my pawns, and had only my knight,

But won for a price.

The price of my soul.
