This line Sebek says, which some fan translators have translated to “the market has been held here since ancient times” gives me the implication that Skully may have been spirited away into the book long before the nrc students found it and was just meandering around hinterlands unaware of how much time has passed.

Skully recollects going to a used book market and getting spirited into the book like them, but who knows if he was even in their vicinity or not.

Skully also supposedly doesn’t know what a magical pen is nor who Malleus is, which if he were hypothetically from a different time period or dead, would put him before Malleus’s hatching 170+ years ago and before the innovation of putting mage stones on handheld objects

The other option is that Skully is lying or bending the truth a bit to gain the trust of the group, which could be the case but it would be a cool twist for a character to be trapped in those magic books and never find a way out the way the main boys do.

The act of achieving a goal brings with it grief of an idea you used to fantasize about; bringing it to reality means the loss of a dream. For an emotionally unstable person who used it as the very reason to stay alive, this loss can lead to the creation of far wilder and more deranged dreams to live on. I think this is Eichi's position in the second era, now hungering for more than just recognition and love as an idol. This search for an even greater dream to work towards resulted in the creation of idol colonies, a truly insane and worthy of criticism act. But imo it's not for nothing a big part of fine's stories have involved the unit trying to ground Eichi in the moment, to remind him of his original beliefs and dreams he has achieved, even those of his childhood. I'm critical of this arc as a whole as i dont know what's in store for it and how it'll play out and be framed, but i always do my reading of enstars with attention towards Eichi's mind as a catalyst of action, and see the whole story revolving around him. I am hoping the other characters' concerns and criticisms will manage to get through to him~ my emotionally stunted and unstable, struggling princess, turned cartoon villain...

#im also curious as the arc progresses how his monologue to tsukasa in white brim will impact things?#he shows great awareness above the other nobles of how colonialism played a role in the accumulation of their wealths #so did he convince himself the idol colonialism is different...or...not? and he's just doing it for the love of the game as they say #he's definitely become more and more concerning though #still my pretty little princess though. forever. even if i treasure ! more #well youve heard my opinion that i treat being a fan of es2 as a specific thing not interchangable with being a fan of es1 #but there is worth in es2 as well. ive read roughly the same amount of stories from each #maybe because i got to experience them both on jp and eng servers in real time but es2 stories are perhaps even more imprinted in my mind #but i cant fault old fans for not wanting to carry on with es2 bc of how different certain things got

Jamil being reluctant to speak up about his problems with Kalim because of his family ‘possibly being thrown out of their jobs and home’ is so real now that Chapter 7 confirmed that the Asims own Jamil’s house and the Vipers live on Asim property. I had a feeling he was but it’s nice to see it verbally confirmed 😭
