Just a little Joker thinky thought...

I was just thinking about the first time Joker really, truly realizes what he means to you, when you look to him for protection for the first time. Him: the fuck-up, the good-for-nothing, the miscreant, the villain - all shoes he's become comfortable wearing. But you're reaching for his hand, standing behind his shoulder, trusting him to protect you. Nobody trusts him, probably rightfully so. He holds his arm in front of you, shielding you, the feeling unfamiliar and a little disorienting but... pleasant.

Whether life or death or that bug is huge save me, the feeling is the same. Worthy, honored, trusted. That's such a big deal for him. I think that feeling would crack his spiky armor faster than almost any other. Feeling not just tolerated, but wanted (even needed), trusted, sought after. Cared about. Seen.
