I feel like this kind of aspect of Dream's character is actually really underrated in fics? he is weird and reserved, but he's not stupid and he's not inexperienced. I think he just doesn't always know how to connect the knowledge he has via the collective unconscious to a real world application. that is, he knows everything but doesn't know how to talk to people about it.

I think where this could get really interesting is in a retired Dream scenario. how much knowledge does he retain during the transition to humanity? is he starting over from zero, or does he keep what he already knows (and simply can't add more to the sum total)?

it would be fascinating to see him stumble through typical human experiences like job applications and emails and doctor visits if he only has theoretical knowledge of them. like, I can watch a hundred videos on making omurice and describe in great detail all the steps to do it, but the first couple of times I try to actually make it I guarantee you I'm going to fuck it up. is it like that for Dream as well?

does he go to make a cup of tea for the first time (I contain the records of every cup of tea made in dreams, Hob, I think I can handle it.) and completely seize up? because the gulf between seeing it done in dreams and doing it with his own two human hands is so incomprehensibly vast?

Hi people :) 

I’m creating a playlist of Crowley’s loved songs. Some of them are from the Good Omens show but others are what I think he would like to listen to in his car. Some are my favs cause like I said in the description of the playlist, you’re both on a road trip and talking is not allowed but he lets you put some music on and choose a song or two. You also can't change the colour of the car.

damn it, tumblr ate an ask I was working on! if you're the anon who sent me the idea about the Endless board game night, this is for you... I'm sorry I didn't even screenshot your ask, you'd think I would know better by now :(

there is so much hilarious potential in this idea, I love it.

my first impulse was to lean into the competetive chaos and have them playing something classic and fairly simple, like Monopoly or Settlers of Catan. but I think Hob is smarter than that.

he would start planning this family game night and swiftly come to the realization that any game in which Dream and Desire are pitted against each other would inevitably result in, you know, World War Three. and then he would start researching cooperative board games – the kind where everybody has to work together against the game rather than competing against one another. something like Pandemic or Forbidden Island, or maybe one of those dinner party murder mystery games.

obviously there would still be competition and chaos. Dream would accuse Desire of some kind of underhanded backstabbing plan and Desire and Despair would 100% be colluding with each other and Death would actually be trying to play the game as she is written.

but I would like for them to collectively get it about halfway through and realize that they do actually want to find the solution to whatever problem they've been presented with. I would love to see the transition as they stop trying to perform the tasks they want and actually think about what tasks they're good at. I would love to see Desire reluctantly ask Dream for advice about something, and for Dream to realize that some things are actually easier when he allows his siblings to help.

by the time they actually beat the game/solve the mystery they are A Team and Hob is just sitting back with the biggest, smuggest grin on his face.
