Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply (see additional tags) Relationships: Deimos/Encke/Keeler (Starfighter), Encke/Keeler (Starfighter), Deimos & Phobos (Starfighter) Summary: Returning from the battle at the Colteron shipyard, the crew of the Sleipnir learns that they weren’t as successful as previously believed. While everyone aboard grapples with what the future holds for humanity, Deimos and Phobos are also contending with what that means for them as a team.

I wrote this fic with the desire to keep the relationship between Deimos and Phobos ambiguous even as they grow closer. I wanted it to have a feeling of uncertainty, and a fragile interdependence which neither of them wants to upset. You can definitely read it as a precursor to Deimos/Phobos if you’re on board with that. However, it also works as a queer platonic relationship where they’re just becoming actual friends, and working as the team they always had the potential to be. Let me know if you think I hit the mark with balancing these tensions in how I depicted their evolving relationship! I’m super curious to see people’s responses to this fic.

Also holy crap, the character tag for “Abel’s Papa” hasn’t been used since 2013 (unless some folks deleted their stuff). I’ve always seen it come up when I typed “Abel” into the characters box, so it’s kind of cool to finally use it. Have a nasty bastard man!

Even though I think that comparing Helios to Levi and Hayden to Erwin is particularly off track, Helios-Levi definitely is loyal to Hayden-Erwin (and has sex with him, lol). But no, that doesn't make it better. I love everything about the EncKeeler/Yumihisu-parallels, though!

I’ll be honest; I’m a sapling, I sleep. I like to sleep. But together, Encke and I sleep. Or we just run errands, socialize with a small group of people, hit the gym (more him than I.) Once we did karaoke. But that was a whole diverse story..

Encke is very nice, ha ha, though that does not seem to be his reputation at first. He’s very serious and cautious (which is not always a bad thing!) but he knows when to joke around and has a relative sense of humor. He’s fair and he treats me very well. He also has soothing hands …
