I vision this AU as if it were a show on adult swim. The team of Darkness are all roommates that live in a mansion (owned by Donna) while also working for her. While Lance may be the "main" character, it focuses on all of their daily lives and nonsense that happens within in.

Ask attempt number either 3 or 4 at this point. Damn Tumblr is Ravenous So you know how Red Velvet Cookie is in charge of baking cake monsters? What if Y/N Cookie was also in charge of army production, but they had an itch to make experimental cake monsters? What if they use pound cake, cut wider slices, and stack the cakes higher to make tankier, bigger, wall-like-cake-hounds? What if they used devil's food cake(Which I headcannon to have some sort of infernal property) and incorporated caramel lava into this next batch of monsters? What if Y/N cookie incorporates poison mushroom cookie's spores into another batch? Hell, what if Y/N Cookie requested a snow lion be brought back alive after a mission in the Dark Cacao Kingdom to see if they could replicate it as a cake monster? And after some experimental monsters have been baked, Y/N Cookie would insist that Pomegranate or Licorice Cookie must bring some of their experimental cake monsters because they yearn for field testing their new monsters.

It gives me vibes of the Kronos Unveiled scene from the Incredibles. For every failed test, a more improved one will prevail next time.

Dark Enchantress Cookie needed someone onboard that can vastly improve her cake monster army. Red Velvet Cookie can make them, but they’ll eventually succumb to Gingerbrave and his friends during a fight. She wanted them stronger and tougher, to where no cookie would be able to halt their advance.

And that’s where you were hired on.

The first couple of batches were not expected to be successful, rather, it was for combat data. You needed data to go off of if you were to take your experiments to newer heights. They’ll be sent out in grand numbers to gather all that you needed for the next batch.

You were allowed to snag as many cake monsters from Red Velvet Cookie’s batches for experiments as you want, it was all under Dark Enchantress Cookie’s orders, much to Red Velvet’s reluctance.

It wouldn’t be until your experimental monsters were able to occupy a village that you considered your recipes a success and went to further improve and improve upon them. Using such things as caramel lava or mushroom spores to make variants of cake monsters the cookies of Earthbread have never seen before!

Why, you might even use cookie dough in your plans to make your own army of super soldiers that can lead your creations into battle. The blueprints have already been made…

A lava demoness that can summon and control the lava from deep within the earth….

A poisonous grenadier that flush out fortfied positions with spores…

So here's my request

Dark Cacao x a flirty weapons expert reader slow burn

Reader used to be Cacaoian, but left the kingdom alongside some of the tribes on search of better life when the Dark Cacao kingdom became too harsh to live on, reader blamed it on Dark Cacao without knowing Affogato manipulated him into the whole mess to dethrone him

Now reader, after joining another kingdom, is sent as a representative to negotiate with Dark Cacao as her new kingdom wants to help in the defeat of Dark Enchantess Cookie, and reader, despite being angry at Dark Cacao, grudgingly agrees to go

Least to say, things get heated and end up accepting a spar with Dark Cacao to settle things, he didn't expected for reader to be so good with a sword, to the point reader even start to playfully flirt which takes him off guard enough for reader to make him fall down

As reader leaves, Dark Cacao just watches, and once reader gets to their designated room... they go directly to scream at their pillow because WTF were they thinking to FLIRT with him!?!?!

And that is the start of a slow burn of misunderstandings leading to love lol

The citadel was cold and harsh, much like the snowy mountains that hid it from view, it was something that only so many travelers could encounter the more they passed through the hills and trees. But certain someone was not wanting to enter, instead, they wanted to leave, escape from the harsh winds and the dark skies of the kingdom of dark cacao. You were one of the many to leave the citadel, rushing through the doors as the iron hand of the king fell upon its citizens, before the borders closed and no one was allowed to escape. This wasnt what you wanted, this wasnt closely near to ANYTHING that you wanted, and yet… and yet here we were.

You escaped to a neighboring kingdom, one where the streets didnt feel a suffocating, didnt feel as obsessively oppressive. If someone asked, you questioned it on Dark Cacao himself, pointing fingers and blaming it all on the king that didnt fulfill his duties, at least, not as most of the tribes and you had expected, unbeknown that a snake had coiled itself around his hand, pointing at the current decrees that made everything the more oppressive and suffocating. As so, the arrival at your new home felt like a breath of fresh air in your lungs. 

Your life would take a turn for the better, working for the guards and the knights of the kingdom, your expertise in weaponry made it easy for you to become part of key parts of it, and as so, you wormed your way into the higher ranks unintentionally, soon becoming akin to a general in the troops of the Kingdom. That’d lead us to the current day, where you’d be called to the front of the king, where you’d receive orders to head to the Cacao Kingdom, and offer aid in the battle against Dark Enchantress cookie. This, of course, took you by surprise, but you begrudgingly accepted to go, which takes us to right now, as you were sitting in front of Dark Cacao Cookie with a serious face, trying to focus on the current themes at hand rather than the cookie in front of you.

“... and as so, the Rose Champagne Kingdom would like to offer part of its troops as aid in the battle against Dark Enchantress Cookie. We believe that with our aid, the casualties could be minor, helping face agaisnt this greater evil that had terrorized us all for centuries.”

“...” Dark Cacao would stay in silence at first, looking at the map and the little figurines that symbolized each member of each band. “As the ruler of the Cacao Kingdom and, one of the members of the group that faced Dark Enchantress cookie back in the day, I’ll have to refuse this offer.”

“Huh-Why?! T-The history books state that—”

“Are you attempting to ignore the fact that I was in that battle?! We made history that day”

You took a step back, dumbfounded at first, but then, rage started sprouting from your body, as you took a step forward and slammed both fists on the table, yet Dark Cacao didnt flinch as you spoke.

“You have no right to speak to me that way, after all you’ve done to the kingdom—I had to leave because of your poor management, suffocating everybody and every tribe inside these walls… You—”

“Pathetic, save your venomous words, you know nothing of what went down these halls those days, from what I can tell, you simply escaped like a scoundrel seeking refuge in the light—”

“I did what was best for me!! You couldnt have sustained us all even if you tried!!”

“How dare you!! If you’re so keen on driving your point across that we need this help, then spar with me, prove me that you’re no coward and that your people are strong enough to face someone like Dark Enchantress Cookie”

“I accept!!”

As such, the deal was sealed. You thought about it for a long time, as the days passed and you prepared yourself for the battle in question. Alas, the day would come, and you’d enter the arena with your armor on and your trusty sword, while Dark Cacao himself approached you with his own armor on and sword by his side. No words had to be shared, you both knew very well what this was about, what you both had to do, and so, the battle would start. The clash of the swords would be accompanied by the chanting of the warriors, making the battle the more lively, more ferocious, as you evaded some attacks before ultimately getting hit by one and ending thrown back for a few seconds, before returning to the battle with a grin on your face.

“Not too bad for someone like you, sweetheart” You’d say, not fully registering the words that escaped your lips, though what would register would be the surprised gaze of the cookie in front of you, before the usual seriousness took over yet again. “What? Cat got your tongue?”

You flirted with the “enemy” without shame, throwing lines every time you got close to Dark Cacao until, eventually, the winner would be determined, as you gave a final blow with another flirtatious line, pushing him down into the ground with a confident smile. Breathing out heavily, you’d help him get up, who only admitted his defeat sheepishly, yet, before he could say something more, you’d leave the arena with a deep blush coating your cheeks as the realization of what you’ve just said fell into your shoulders. 

Embarrassment, that was the emotion you were feeling as, once shedding from the armor, you laid in bed, rolling around while hiding your face in your pillow. You were only lucky he didnt strike you down by the fact he was too busy registering completely what you had just said to him, but even then, it was embarrassing to say the least that you had become oh so bold to speak to the King in that way. Oh dear, if only you knew, this would be the start of a series of misunderstandings that would lead to the beautiful realization that is love, as well as realizing that not all mistakes done by the Cacaoian king were made fully by his hand.

I know it's been a couple of months but THANK YOU for saying that especially about Boomerang and Enchantress not making the cut. It's nuts to think the actual magic user and the silly character who'd be great as a D&D rogue analogue didn't get into the Fantasy world. Hell Imagine Digger accidentally becoming some sort of goblin king because he plays his cards right and it's played as silly as it sounds? or Enchantess learning to control her abilites more as June with the other half of her actually finding a weird sense of peace... but nope we get ...PM pretending to be an elf.

Summary:

After each Souljam Hero traveled to beast-yeast, they each crumbled to their beast, One, by one, by one. After only a short time under the beast, and Light Enchantess cookie’s rule, a familiar cookie and his team of scientists decided to re-bake the heroes with the best of their abilities.

One, by one, the remaining crumbs from the ancients were baked into new cookies, and placed with families to care for them. After nearly two-decades passed, the heroes came of age and each decided to take up the mantle of being earthbread’s hero. Now, with Light Enchantress hunting them, it’s up to the new Souljam heroes to stop earthbread’s evil, and reclaim their souljams.

Light Enchantress Cookie:

After her fight with Shadow Milk Cookie, White Lily found herself in the grasps of Dark enchantress cookie. As she tried fruitlessly to escape, it eventually ended with dark enchantress reclaiming the half of her soulstone. However, no one would have anticipated the results, causing the legendary Light Enchantress cookie, legendary of the land of plants.

She’s a magic class cookie, and former holder of the Souljam of Freedom. She can often be seen ordering around her right-hand cookies, Laurel cookie and Lily of the Valley cookie ever since most of the cookies of darkness abandoned her cause.

Buttercream Cookie:

Baked with the crumbs of the famous Pure Vanilla Cookie, Buttercream Cookie is a Defense class cookie, and supposed hero of trust. This cookie is gifted in his defensive prowess, and is considered the upcoming prodigy of the Creme republic, and the heir to the house of cream (not related to House Scone).

Jam Choco Cookie

Hailing from the frigid Dark Cacao mountains, Jam Choco cookie is a grape Jam & Chocolate-Peanut butter flavored cookie. Jam Choco cookie is an ambush cookie, carrying a pair of solid cacao daggers with him at all times.

As the hero of determination, This cookie is often considered the most disconnected, and untrusting member of the team, however, he does care deeply for his friends.

Wildberry Punch Cookie

Wildberry punch cookie is the Support member of the team, often seen with a special pair of gauntlets made for her by the best craftsman in the Hollyberry kingdom. Being the hero of devotion, this cookie is devoted to protecting those she cares about, and to stand up for what she truly believes is right, although some cookies say that she could lighten up a bit.

Pepperjack Cheese Cookie

Pepperjack cheese cookie is the hero of giving, and a bomber class cookie. Coming from the Pepper villages in the land of spice, this cookie can be quite hot-headed, although she often finds herself as the voice of reason within the group. Even though she had to leave her village, and her twin brother in order to reclaim her souljam, she plans to one day return to her village afterwards.

Supporting Cast:

Lily of the Valley/Laurel Cookie

Being the right hand cookies just under high priestess pomegranate cookie, these two aren’t very good at their jobs. While they are strong, and gifted with magic, it is not hard to lose them in the middle of a heated battle. Although, for some reason, they have yet to be banished by Light Enchantress cookie.

Dark Choco Cookie

Shortly after he ascended the throne, dark Choco found himself between a rock and a hard place. With no commanding staff, no advising team, and no heir he quickly made changes to the kingdom for the better. After convincing licorice cookie to return to the kingdom, he made him his advisor, and put him in charge of keeping the licorice sea tame so the kingdom could finally make exports from their sea and have more income. Since the two commanders had parishes in beast-yeast, Second water, now First watcher, leads the watchers through the kingdom, while Burnt caramel cookie became the commander of the mountain wolves unit.

Custard Cookie III

After being left with no one to take care of the young king since white lily went missing, and pure vanilla perished in beast-yeast, he found himself adopted by Dark Choco cookie. While he grew up happy, he eventually returned to his kingdom and reclaimed the throne, now welcoming anyone in need to his kingdom.

Pitaya Dragon Cookie

Shortly after returning to the kingdom with only Hollyberry Cookie’s shield, pitaya dragon cookie took snapdragon cookie and went back to dragon valley. For years, they weren’t seen…until the day princess cookie ascended the throne, with her wife by her side.

Never one to turn down an invite, the dragon went…now, they work alongside the Hollyberry kingdom queen’s for a better future.

Smoked Pepperjack Cookie

Being crafted from the mixed crumbs of smoked cheese cookie, and golden cheese cookie…as well as some of the spice that filled the land, it resulted in a pair of twins. Coming from the cheese desserts, this cookie is the twin brother so Pepperjack cheese cookie.

Ever since his sister left the village, he now protects it alone, hoping that she comes back In once piece.

Facts about the current Dr. Fate

In 2015, a new incarnation known as Khalid Nassour debuted in his own short-lived solo series and he’s one of the neatest characters introduced in recent years. He’s also one of the few Arab-based (Egyptian) Muslim characters to occupy a significant role in the DC Universe as supposedly one of their premier magic superheroes.

It’s not always perfect but there’s a variety of cool things about him compared to other incarnation of Doctor Fates that makes him standout. And I want to highlight those things. The internet in various places gets the wrong idea about the character and this post aims to address it. So without further ado.

He’s a trained Dr. Fate

Don’t let DC’s insistence on his youthfulness deceive you: Khalid is actually one of the most trained Doctor Fates, right behind Kent Nelson. Now if you’re an avid reader, you’ll probably point out Inza, Kent V., & Hector seemed to be trained too. Within their stories, they’re treated as powerhouses themselves especially in crossovers.

Here’s the kicker: Khalid is a person of color. Inza, Kent V, & Hector are white characters.

Despite the fact that Hector was a novice himself, his first major storyline that debuted him as Dr. Fate has him butt heads with Mordru literally just being out of diapers and hold his own and later defeat. Even Nabu in a later JSA storyline taunted Mordru being beaten by a novice sorcerer.

Inza gets done dirty in canon after briefly being Dr. Fate but she was said to be more talented than Kent and got to use chaos magic of all magics and was pretty darn good with it. It later got substitute for being powered by life but nothing of her abilities changed.

Kent V. started out sucking so bad Enchantess in Reign in Hell was unimpressed but towards the end of 2011 right before New 52, he got to be hailed as Sorcerer Supreme 4 years after his debut. Compared that to Khalid, who been in publication since 2015 & is approaching his 9th year and he’s competing with Zatanna & Constantine roughly, hailed for his abilities a lot less.

While there’s a odd trend of PoC whom occupy traditionally white mantles having to “work” their way up and Khalid gets that a lot and some writers think his shtick is being “new”, it does give him the distinction that you’ll see an illusion of progress. You’ll read his solo and then his appearances in Justice League Dark and see there’s progress in his abilities becoming more advanced.

Towards the end of the Justice League Dark solo, Kent feels he’s taught Khalid all he can. With that, the only thing left for Khalid is to get practical experience as Dr. Fate.

His designation is backed by Allah

A major difference between him and any version of Doctor Fate is that this incarnation was chosen, in part, by Allah (The Presence within DC context) himself. This is reflected in his solo, where he gets direct guidance by both angels and the Egyptian gods. The series attempts to blend the elements together by suggesting that Allah created the Egyptian gods to as a kind of Djinn but the gods view themselves as something else and although the angels find them pretenders compared to Allah, they respect their divine station, agency, and perspective.

Given his Muslim roots, it makes sense for Khalid’s destiny to involve whom he worships. It also makes him incredibly unique in that the Lords of Order don’t directly control his designation and that he chooses to follow their direction of order because he believes in it. It gives the character agency other Dr. Fates tend to lack.

Talk about job security.

He is the rightful choice because he makes sense.

Sorry to the others but Khalid is the rightful bearer. With all the hiccups, his character not having the benefit of being an insta-master. He doesn’t get the shinny cool feats of taking down the biggest bad guy to supplant his role. He doesn’t get to be convenient “immune” to magic to make him tougher. Hell, the helm gets depowered because of Kent & it’s up to him to address that problem.

But it’s not about the power level or if Nabu is there. What makes Khalid worthy is that he IS a character. Look, he’s the only Dr. Fate you can follow that makes a lot of sense.

With Eric & Linda Strauss, you got an even creepier example of Shazam-ing things where the aged up child still has a mind of a 12 year old & ends up hooking up with his step-mother. I don’t care how the writer tried justifying it as them being reincarnated lovers. With Inza, it’s complicated since she died & comes back in a new young body and it’s tied to resurrection. She was the next closest good option though. I’ll have to do a post about her another time.Jared could have been interesting but too much of that character disassociated with the good things with the mantle. Hector is weird with his convoluted history, connections with Hawkman, and everyone confuses his tenure for Kent. And Kent V. is confusing with his name ahd the consequence of ‘revamping’ and ‘simplifying’ things but using the same names to circumvent doing honest character work to ensure Dr. Fate doesn’t need constant rebooting.

Compared to that, Khalid had a normal life for 22 years before become Dr. Fate. No resurrections, hooking up with pedos, random age-ups, or being stuck as a love interest with a brief tenure. And no being an edgy 90s character.

He is accomplished

As with any superhero, you’ll ask what kind of ways has xyz contributed to the DC Universe at large and Khalid himself has actually accomplished a few things under his belt to help make him a worthwhile Dr. Fate:

For the start of things, his debut storyline has him save the world. It’s pretty much a basic thing and happens in its own corner but starting your tenure as Dr. Fate fighting a death god out the bat does give him some credit.

He eventually becomes a member of the Justice League & Justice League Dark. He’s a good example of not every hero in their 20s is connected to the Titans or that the Justice League is conveniently separated with people in their 30s.

When Circe absorbed Hecate’s power to become a even more powerful sorceress, it was Khalid who convinced Nabu of all characters to help his team and cede all his power to him, granting him agency and the opportunity needed to defeat Circe by helping Wonder Woman and stopping the Injustice League Dark.

Within the world of magic, he is the Dr. Fate responsible for performing the Parliment of Life ritual to allow the elemental forces of nature to work in harmony once more instead of fighting for supremacy (despite Constantine’s character muddying the event to an extent).

That’s not half-bad for a PoC character who tends to be regulated to background work overtime in favor of whit(er) characters. He is still contributing nicely here and there. He’s doing more than Eric/Linda that’s for sure.

Astrid - Said to be The child of the enchantess due to the similarities. It’s important to not look them in the eye to not fall victim to their beast. It’s known to stay in their castle mostly and only get violent when attacked first

Airlea - Young Noble who got corrupted due to trying to being pushed into a phantom. It’s said that she fused with the phantom and has been missing ever since.

Lottie - Got swallowed up along with his younger sister but still has human consciousness. Has been deem not a treat but still must be kept under watch.

Name- the Hatter

Fallon - Said to be one of the victims of a boat crash. They say mainly by the sea and protective of a group of kids. When going near the will start to get violent and the kids refuses to come with Hunters. Keep close watch.

Name- Captain

Phantom Hunters

Idia- Future leader of S.T.X.Y that handles Bolts and who wants to find the tamer in hopes of finding a way to bring back his brother. (Ortho has been created)

Jamil- A trained hunter in order to protect Kalim who will later be corrupted himself and runs away with his sister to not be killed.

Iris- Trained under S.T.X.Y after his father’s death and has any unknown power to kill Phantoms quickly.

Flori- A royal who helps deals with the aftermath of phantoms and helping in researching the effects of people who have been corrupted.

Sliver- Being raised by a general he has been trained on hunting phantoms but does feel weary about hunting those who were once considered human
