Feet, so small it was a wonder she could stand at all, a miracle she was as graceful as a swan, danced across the garden as she hummed an old melody underneath her breath. Her face was bright with joy, lips curled into a relaxed happy smile, closed eyes twinkling in the corner as from memory she danced around the fountain, stopping only when she reached the bench, laughter bubbling from her lips as she almost fell, still a few inches off.

Adjusting herself, her legs curled underneath her as she picked up the book she had left there before her little dancing session, a bookmark (a flower that had fallen on her feet the first time she visited this garden with Grandma Clarisse) holding the place where she left off. It was a history book, detailing the life of some of her ancestors, it came highly recommended by her sister; everything that Mia loved, Ella loved as well.

Her heart drummed inside her chest so loudly she was surprised he hadn’t asked her about it, it felt like it was going to leap out of her mouth any second, her ribcage too small to hold it back anymore. Proteus remained serious though, holding her hand, calloused thumb caressing the inside of her hand, the silence growing between them; an anxious sort of silence, the tension growing sharper until she felt suffocated by it, desperate to hear what he would say next.

“Proteus--” she starts, desperate to hear his voice. They were building towards something, ever since that meeting in the garden, they had been growing into something beautiful, his face consumed her thoughts at night as she tried to sleep, and when dreams finally took hold of her, he was there once more. A dream is a wish your heart makes, if that is true, than he is her dearest desire. 

He stayed silent though. Shaking his head, he pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, drawing back slowly, her eyes fluttering closed when he lingered; she could feel his breath on her face, his long hair tickled her neck, their lips almost brushing; they were so close. After what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only a few seconds, he pulled away with a sigh.

Blue hues tinged with disappointment chanced a look at him, the sharp curve of his jaw, brown eyes glittering with something as he gazed at her. A part of her was glad he didn’t kiss her -- her life had changed so much already in the past few months, she needed to focus on building her relationship with Mia and Clarisse, that was the most important thing, her family. The one she never knew existed but that she loved more than anything. 

And yet, she wondered that it would be like -- to be kissed by this handsome prince, to be able to hug him whenever she liked, to feel his smile shining in her direction.

"Oh, dear!” blonde waterfall hides her expression from the prince, glimpses of her beautiful smile peaking through as her shoulders shook with laughter. Normally pink lips are stained red from eating so many strawberries, a half filled plate of the plump fruit still sitting by her hand. The remains of a lovely picnic surrounded her, the blue cloth stretched out on the grass, a basket still half filled with delicious treats from the palace.

Pushing her hair back, Ella watches Proteus chase the horses around -- they had come undone and were now very content running around and munching on the forest floor to obey the pleadings of their master, who had been trying to get them to come back for the last ten minutes. In truth, they hadn’t run far, but every time Proteus came close, they would take a lap around the clearing, huffing their displeasure at being interrupted. He is beautiful, dark skin warm from the sun, long hair coming undone from his usual ponytail and the gentle beautiful smile that had attracted from the start still shining on his lips, even as the horses evaded him once more.

Biting her lip to keep stop her smile from growing too wide, she slowly makes her way towards him, careful not to spook the horses more. “Now, will you let me help you?” hugging him from behind, Ella props up her chin on his shoulders, nuzzling his cheek. It had been very gallant when he had jumped up and promised to bring the horses back in just one second, leaving her breathless as he shot her one last dazzling smile before leaving, but there was nothing bad about accepting some help now and then. “Now, come on!” pressing a soft kiss against his cheek, she pulled away. “I’ve got a plan!”

totally anonymous anon: ship bias for ella ?

*dropping my files* I HAVE TOO MANY.  I find Ella to be an extremely easy character to ship and @enchantedorigins keeps writing perfect characters that ella has no option but to fall in love with. Like, it’s a curse really. Diaval <3 Tiana <3 Proteus <3  Ella just loves them all so much.

And we can’t forget the most beautiful girl in the world, Chloe ( @skyllarks ). The fact I have in my roster Chloe’s mom and Chloe’s girlfriend?? yes, all the reasons to rp with chloe, that’s what I like.

For some ships that exist solely in my head and I think someone *wink wink nudge nudge* should do them with me: (1) Ella/Eugene Fitzherbert?? I think they would be beautiful and could help each other so much. ​(2) Gimme Kit pls y’all, I love my son, he and Ella are actual soulmates. (3) Ella/Belle — they are nerdy, beautiful, and would be such a great fit? Gaston and the boys in town flirting with Belle but poor servant girl Ella is the one who got the beauty’s attention!! (4) Ella/Prince Eric — I can see them being a very playful ship?? (5) Also some sort of villain... pls.
