no but Bobby had to start shit with the cartel, Hen and Karen had to adopt two more children, Chimney had to catch encephalitus and hallucinate multiple people and Eddie had to cheat with his dead wife's doppleganger in order to make up for the fact that the Buckley siblings are somewhat stable this season
#yeah they're still getting rough plots (Maddie my girl) but they're coping with it?#also this is an lh take don't yell at me#9-1-1#9-1-1 spoilers

u know the whole “unfortunate cologne” “i really must introduce you to a finer scent” scene in season 1 is meant to tell the audience that hannibal has smelt encephalitus on will right? like he did with bella and his old teacher with cancer (same episode)—will is bad meat
#like there’s a moment directly afterwards where he confirms his headaches are getting worse/more frequent and it’s like oh...oh no#sinkhole#hannibal#will graham

While I’m glad the hospitals were not left in the dark, private companies have not been given the same reprieve. Especially not new buildings, whose electrical and back up system plans were recently filed with the city.
ReedCo conducts research to cure the diseases that plague all of humanity. Thankfully the level 1 and 2 biosafety labs remain intact, as the pathogens within are not airborne, but the underground Level 3 & 4 labs....
The brave men and women, Dominants, Submissives and Switches alike, who worked on those levels were trying to find cures for diseases like Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, Rift Valley Fever, West Nile Virus, Venezuelans Equine Encephalitus, Lassa, Marburg and Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever. These are diseases that devastate anywhere they spring up.
When the Nameless cut the power to ReedCo’s electrical systems and the back up systems, the failsafe was activated to protect the population of New Eden.
87 Men and Women. 39 Dominants. 30 Subs. 18 Switches.
Murdered by the Nameless to make a point. Burned alive in the flames that are the only way to kill the viruses they were trying to conquer.
Given that they were working to preserve life, it seems especially perverse for them to die because some bright but thoughtless cowards decided to throw a temper tantrum to protest the system.
Normally, I remain neutral on such matters. I’m a scientist, not a politician. I’m sure there are levels of this that I am unaware of, but this callus indifference to human life is appalling. Not only have The Nameless killed 87 innocent people, but they in essence murdered all the people their work would have saved from hideous deaths due to the viruses they may have found cures or treatments for.
I condemn the the actions of murderers. I condemn you as weak and cruel and selfish.
Already 87 people will go down in history as victims of the Mass Murderers known as the Nameless. I’m sure many others will join that number before this power play ends.

On Narcolepsy, Motivation and Global Pandemics.

Imagine that you were just getting things settled. You had your challenges and you had your pages well written. You weren’t perfect but life was by no means even close to bad. Things were doing pretty well.
Yet somewhere lingering in the back of your mind was your desire to make a career change, to stand up for yourself.
You wondered when…

Primes for the history ask?
2. Favorite underrated historical figure?
Roger Sherman
3. Funniest historical kerfuffle?
THE MERRY AFFAIR
5. Favorite political scandal to examine?
I dunno if it’s my favorite but during a class we looked at the petticoat affair and I thought that was pretty interesting.
7. Which time period would you like to live in?
N/A but also
Ancient Rome
11. Favorite biography?
Okay I know In A Dark Wood Wandering is not a biography but it kinda reads like one you dig
13. Fun fact?
Okay so in 1918 the world was plunged into the Spanish Flu Epidemic which killed like... more than 50 million people worldwide. It was super bad.
But at the SAME time there was this other, less known epidemic! It was called encephalitus lethargica and was familiarly known as “sleeping sickness” or “sleepy sickness” and the cause is not actually known, even today.
Anyway this one didn’t kill as many people, “only” about a million (and obvi the flu thing was way worse in terms of deadliness) but what it DOES do if you’re not lucky enough to die from it is make you sleep.
FOREVER.
Actually yeah that’s pretty much what it does. People infected with it would drift in between a drowsy state in which they were conscious but unaware, unable to speak or move and showing no sign or interest in the world around them, or... close to full-on coma. Unable to be woken up. And they were like this for DECADES. Which is a pretty long nap, but they would wake up for brief periods and realize years and years had gone by without them. Some of them never woke up at all.
Which isn’t really a “fun” fact but damned if it isn’t a fact!
17. Favorite feminist pioneer?
I kinda like Prudence Crandall. She isn’t super well-known but she was trying to get interracial classrooms and opened up a college for black women in the 1830s which was fairly early for that kind of thing.
19. If you could travel back in time and kill anyone, who would it be?
That’s kinda tough. I really hate J. Edgar Hoover so maybe him.
23. John Wilkes Booth: crazy or crazy with a cause?
I mean he HAD a cause. It wasn’t a very good one but he had one.
29. Rant about your favorite topic.
Okay if you want a rant, I hate those kinds of history buffs that are like “military history IS history!” you know the ones. Not the ones who are like “I only like military history cause that’s what interests me the most” cause those are fine, whatever, everyone has their tastes.
I mean the ones who think every other type of history is irrelevant and pointless. (Including political, which... wat) but yeah. Don’t get me wrong; war is important and shapes things in a big way, but you know... countries did stuff during peacetime as well. And sometimes changes occur without war happening. And while war is always occurring SOME where I don’t know of any countries that have only ever been at war ever.
Besides that, it ignores... well, everything. Politics, religion, medicine, science, law (which I guess is a subset of politics but still) even things like fashion, art and media had significant effects on daily life, politics, and yes, even war.
31. How was your interest in history started?
Idk I think it was may dad taking me to history places since I was little.
37. Have you ever been known as the history person?
Nah, only the English person. Which I resent, but heck.
41. Best history project you’ve ever done.
Probably the one about the newspapers from the 1830s! I got to study old newspapers from my college’s city and put together a whole essay on what we can deduce about life from the papers, what’s missing from those sources, etc.
43. Opinion on the Watergate Scandal?
I don’t know a super lot about it cause I don’t really love the 1970s. I know it sparked a giant amount of distrust in the government apparently, which I find funny cause nowadays we’d just be like “yeah, and what else is new” but Watergate was an early one.
Although people already didn’t like the government cause of LBJ and Vietnam but this did not help.
My opinion I guess is that Nixon was a lil bitch.
47. Favorite queen/king of England?
I want to say Matilda but idk if she counts. If she does then Matilda, full stop.
And after that it’s kind of a mix between Henry VII and Richard III, except that Richard III barely ruled anything cause he was only there for two years and then got dead, so... I guess Henry VII?
But then again I don’t know any of the Stuarts and very few Hanovers so I guess one of them could be a favorite and I just am not aware.
53. Favorite old political film?
I don’t know what this actually means. Like an old PSA? I like the ones MST3K covers. Particularly this one about Keeping Clean and Neat.
59. Genocide that should be known about but isn’t?
I’m not sure I know any extracurricular genocides... this is not my area, sorry.
61. Favorite ancient civilization?
PHOENICIA

"Why do I have flu-like symptoms?" Oh yeah, side effects from my Japanese Encephalitus vaccination the other day lol! AT LEAST I KNOW IT'S WORKING, RIGHT? :-D Totally worth it to be protected. The whole point is to trigger the body's immune system to build up an immunity, and these symptoms are nothing compared to what actual Japanese Encephalitus can do.
On the down side, I REALLY need to go do laundry (still), but I am way too sore all over to attempt it on my own. I can just take things to the full service drop off laundry but I'm not certain I remember where that is and that's a lot of fucking walking in this condition so maybe I'll just let laundry go another day.
I'm not especially upset about it or anything, it's just a bit of a temporary bummer, you know? I do have a couple of long sleeve shirts left. I'm not sure if I am supposed to go back if I'm having symptoms like this I think I only have to go back if the symptoms get really bad.

Summary: Gideon is speaking words his soul knows. Instead of moving to speak of Alana Bloom, however, he mentions Garret Jacob Hobbs. Will's life shatters to pieces as the waves rear up in response to the ferocity of lightning's strike, but warm hands lead him up and away to safety in the clouds of the storm. He can hear the thunder of an oncoming storm, and it is soothing to know that the lightning will never leave him.
Just a little thing for @hannibalcreative‘s #EatTheRare event! With the tiniest ship to ever ship, lolz. I didn’t know anyone but me shipped this until Ao3 gave me a relationship tag for it XP
“I don’t know if I will ever be myself again. I don’t know if I’ve got any self left over.”
The words resound with him, deeply - some latent chord striking in his chest like thunder. It drowned out the pulsing of the waves, however - silenced the storm with the sheer surprise at its arrival. So similar to the words he’d released into the air not so long ago. I feel like I am gradually becoming different.
The man releases a sigh - ghost puff of air. “I spent so long thinking I was him, it’s got really hard to remember who I was when I wasn’t him.” He flickers in and out of sight - sometimes Garrett, sometimes a shorter man with hair more akin to Will’s own - but his words sound like things Will’s soul already knows.
I fear not knowing who I am.
“Who are you now?” Will has to ask.
The man shrugs, pulling his lips inward as his eyebrows raise. “I’m not entirely certain. Perhaps I’ll slip on another identity. This Hobbs character, perhaps,” he adds. Turning, for once, to look at Will.
“The man I thought you were,” Will echoes, looking through those eyes to the chaos inside. Chairs upturned and cushions on the table. There are lamps on the shelves and books on the walls - nothing is in its place, and yet... and yet.
Dark eyes narrow in gentle thought. “Perhaps I will be that. Or perhaps something new. You’re used to slipping skins, Mr. Graham, tell me - can you ever find your own skin again?”
Will can feel his hands shake - trembling with all the rolling of thunder as he prepares for the strike of lightning. “I could,” he protests weakly into the storm. “I used to know.”
The storm looks back at him - a reflection in churning waves as the air stills. “I guess that makes us more alike than I would have thought, Mr. Graham.” The still quiet of the storm breaths in the air between them - a moment that by its nature could never remain. “Both of us standing here, not knowing who we are - owing that to the doctors who couldn’t resist putting their hands in our head for the sheer pleasure of feeling brain matter on skin.”
Lightning strikes, and every hair of his skin rises to stand at it’s sight. “You knew who I thought you were,” Will found himself mumbling truths to the howling wind. “Why would Hannibal - he - why?”
Gideon shrugs. The tilt of his mouth is no more than mirth in the muck and mire. Humor that grew because it knew there was no way up from stained ground. “What more can you expect of their kind?” he ponders in uncaring acceptance of fact. “Psychiatrists are given leave to play god with people’s minds - seems to reason the power would eventually go to their heads.”
Will suddenly finds the cold snow seeping into the joints of his knees. His anchor was gone - had it ever existed? - he no longer knew his way.
As he knelt there, lost and alone upon a frozen wasteland he could feel in his soul, a hand softly rested upon his brow. Comforting fingers ran through his hair.

1.) Pussies are amazing.
2.) Our pets are free to roam where they please, just not on places where food will be prepared or other surfaces that can get humans sick. You wouldn’t walk fucking barefoot on your kitchen counter, so don’t let your shit-footed animals do it either, you disgusting ass.
3.) This is why y’alls dumb asses got the Black Plague and cholera and shit. Your pets have been stepping in their own fecal matter and urine all day, if you want to let them crawl on yoir kitchen counter, then by all means, I’ll let Darwinism do its thing and you can feel free to die of a bacterial infection in your intestines.
Snob ass lol. At least we aren’t introducing fucking encephalitus to our kitchens, coffee tables, and computer keyboards. Season your food and keep your pets from crawling over it.
Buy some Clorox and get to scrubbing, you scum-loving, Staphylococcus-incubating dumbass.
why do white people let their animals crawl over everything?
#white ppl get so pressed when you remind them that they had to be INTRODUCED to basic concepts of hygiene#and that brown and black folks dont do this animal vector-to-humans bullshit
