i remember fighting for my life in comment sections in 2022 because i said that I think mirabel would have friends😭 everyone was coming at me like “but she’s the outcast!” “she feels lonely” “she doesn’t fit in!!” like yeah she feels that in her community and family but we also see despite that she still communicates with her family! the way I always viewed mira’s issues was the saying “feeling alone in a crowded room” she’s surrounded by people who love her and she loves them too! but even being so social and friendly her insecurities still eat at her! I felt like giving her no friends back then was just a way to say nobody likes her and isolate her further when we actually see in the movie the community truly loves her (there is exceptions) . mirabels overall personality is so warm and energetic I feel like it’s wild for people to insist she wouldn’t even have one friend! People would always say how similar she is to camilo yet say he has tons of friends but she doesn’t ??? she has so many qualities that I think make people love being friends with her and I’m just glad jared confirmed she does in fact have friends. You can feel lonely and feel anxious even as a social outgoing person!

Some fanart of Bruno and Rafael from right after the movie, when they get united after a decade, and Bruno has built enough courage to finally pursue his own happiness.
Yes, Rafael is an oc. But compared to the cc×cc shipping I have seen from the Encanto fandom's shipping scene, I'd muuuuch rather see more cc×oc.
Rafael Guerrero is a baker. He is 2 years younger than the Madrigal triplets, and was the first person that Julietta healed after getting her powers as he had been born ill and had been bedridden his whole(short) life up to that point. He is never seen without his father's hat, and he tries to live his life to the fullest, both through generosity and his tendency to be wholly himself without shame. And as the Encanto is in a valley that was separated from the rest of the world, the same laws that were applicable for the rest of the world in 1940, were not all enforced in the Encanto.

Pov You're Camilo Madrigal 🦎
Ok so, for him, I had to be more deep and invest because he doesn't appear a lot in the movie.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like, Camilo is not the full gremlin we pictured, I feel like he's more introverted than it shows like his siblings, but he's still the most extroverted of them. Mirabel and him are kinda alike, mostly for their gremlin energy, but also through art, she's a sewer and a musician and he is clearly a theater kid, that's indisputable lol, but also likes to doodle and to keep diaries. A LOT of diaries in which he talks about everything, especially since he and Mirabel started to grow apart from each other. He notes things about people he cares about, plays about books he liked or where he would want to go if he could, what he would want to show to his brother and yadah yadah. Also, I bet he would take a bunch of pictures he would put on his walls, a bucn of pictures in which he would never appears. Yeah, I feel like around people, especially his family, he does everything so people don't worry about him, because that's his role, actually: being The distraction, which doesn't give him a word to say to anyone. That's why he's so soft alone or around his mom when she's too stressed, and after the movie, with Mirabel. I would include Antonio but I think, with Antonio, he's doing his best to be a bright and protective big brother so Antonio doesn't have to be forced into anything. ❤🩹
Sooooo yeah, this might be unpopular opinion but I've been thinking about it for a while, especially since I heard about the original idea of Camilo faking his appearance to the point Pepa and Felix, his own parents, didn't recognize him when Casita fall down. He's just a kid hiding himself behind his gift to please the others and trying to convince himself that IT IS who he is. I have a scene in my ff that exploited this idea. Anyways, I didn't read a lot of headcannon before doing mine (mostly because most of the hc I found about him were x reader, and it wasn't what I needed haha...) so it's a bit longer than Mirabel, but I NEEDED to say more about him- about all of them actually ! Or I will exploded 🤯 So yeah, I think I'll make a moodboard, especially Pepa's side of the family since they're not exploited that much in the movie, and my buns are butter deprived for three years now 💀
here's the link to the moodboard and the sketches of him
Fun fact, because of the weird blocked face in sketch's phase, I laughed so much and so hard for so long that I couldn't finish this face for a long time or even open my sketchbook xD no but it's because IT WAS SO FUNNY LOOK AT HIM 🤣

Madrigal Friend OCs
As a follow up to the post about partners, here is one on the friend groups. Specifically for the grandkids - I may make one for the adults if people are really that interested.
Feel free to send asks to learn more about them! As this is just a list of names.
I might add to this as I go.
Those with * beside their name are canon character/based off background townspeople.
Isabela:
*Mariano Guzmán
*Marta Carrillo
Lucía Desto
Isabela changes the name weekly because she’s Isabela. The Madrigals call them the Green Group because ✨nature✨.
(While Señorita Perfecta, she did have a girl group of friends but ditched them following the rebuild as she found them to be fake and only with her for popularity points. She casually crashes Dolores and Luisa’s friends groups too).
Dolores:
*Lili Iglesias
Eugenia Augado
The Gossipers. None of them picked the name. Isabela did jokingly and it just kinda stuck?
Luisa:
Carmen Garza
Paula Zapatero
Andres Medina-Lanzo
They never really had a nickname. As children they called themselves the Secret Friends Club, Julieta still calls them that (to the embarrassment of Luisa).
Camilo:
Federico Rubio-Torres
Beatriz Basurto
Santino Aldana
Olga Aldana
Ruben Zapatero
*Marco Osma
Nicknamed The Reptile Kids, at Camilo’s suggestion because his symbol is a chameleon. (They were young at the time). Though Dolores has plenty of other, harsher names for them…
Mirabel:
Álvaro Escarra
They don’t have a name because Mirabel thought that would be childish and there is only two of them, so it would be unnecessary. Usually just referred to as AEMM (their initials) if not their actual names by others.
Antonio:
*Alejandra Bernal
*Juancho “coffee kid” Desoto
*Cecilia Rubio-Torres
They are dubbed the Friendly Four, they are the ones who picked the name.
(All of them are kids Camilo has babysat).

Encanto OC Event Week 2
Part 2: Tomás Herrera & Others
(Part 1 Here)
The second half of my OC relationship info post - this'll include some info about Tomás's bonds with my other OCs, as well as those background OCs' relationships with each other and canon characters.
@encanto-extended-edition
Tomás in regards to his natal family:
Tomás is the youngest in a family of four, born to Lucía and Horacio Herrera.
Lucía was a schoolteacher and volunteer in the town library, who passed away when Tomás was still a child. Tomás loved and admired his mother, considering her to have been a saint in life. The memories he has of her are fond ones, recalling her as being a kind woman without a bad word to say about anyone. He thinks highly of her optimism and humility, and her ability to make anyone feel understood and listened to.
Lucía as well as Tomás's older brother, Mateo, are both canonically deceased as per the events of the story the Herrera family is introduced in. This leaves Tomás and his father as the last living of their family within the Encanto.
Horacio used to be a mason, having to retire early due to weakness in his legs. Between this and the loss of his parents, his wife, and eventually his oldest son, Horacio sometimes thinks he's cursed - but his one silver lining is his remaining son, Tomás. Horacio has zero qualms about being openly affectionate with Tomás both physically and verbally, and though he's a little oblivious at times, he only wants the best for his boy. Tomás in turn is a loyal and protective son to Horacio, willing to put up with a little embarrassment if it makes his father happy. It doesn't matter how old Tomás gets, he'll always be his papá's conejito.
Art by cringecanto (right)
It's a bit self-indulgent of me, but I'm of the mind that when Tomás marries into the family, Casita springs up a small in-law suite for Horacio so he won't have to spend his days in an empty house. I also am of the mind that in their youth Horacio and Bruno were quite friendly with each other, due to both more or less being underdogs with not a lot of friends between them.
Horacio likely approached Bruno before his wife's passing, just on the off chance he saw her make a miraculous recovery. That isn't what he saw, of course. But though devastated, Horacio accepted the result with as much grace as he could and didn't blame Bruno or his visions for the bad news.
They ended up losing touch when Bruno became more withdrawn and eventually "left", but upon Bruno's return to society their friendship ends up picking right back up where it left off. When Tomás marries into the family and Horacio tags along, he and Bruno spend a good amount of their time having tea and playing cards as old men tend to do.
The rest under the cut to spare the poor dashboards out there!
The Patch:
The Patch, or El Parche, is the group name I use to refer to Camilo's small group of older friends, including Tomás (as introduced in the previous post). They're childhood friends; as a unit and individually they're all well-liked young men within their peers and the community as a whole, decently popular in different ways. They initially were meant to be unnamed background characters whose designs were pulled from random Encantownies, but I accidentally got attached to them and now they all have proper designs and development. Such is my life.--
Cristián Vargas, Rafael Molina, Santiago Torres, Tomás Herrera
Santiago (22) is the oldest not only of the friend group but of his own siblings, of which he's got 6 younger sisters and brothers. He's the designated 'mom friend' by nature, easily slotting into leadership positions and able to keep a handle on multiple goings-on at once. That said he very much is a mother hen type, a bit fussy and prone to scolding his siblings and friends (usually Rafael) whenever they start steering towards bad decisions.
Tomás and Santi are usually on the same page when it comes to caution and forethought, contrasting with Rafa and Cris's more go-with-the-flow attitudes. Santi's compassionate nature makes it easy for him to pick up on what Tomás is feeling without him voicing it, taking it upon himself to either make decisions based on what Tomás would most prefer or urging the others to do so instead. Tomás appreciates Santi looking out for him, feeling it alleviates pressure off of his own shoulders when he's unsure of what to do.
Rafael (21) is the most boisterous of all of them, the beacon of activity and extroversion to balance out his more subdued companions. He's a risk-taker and extremely liberal-minded about topics that usually wouldn't be openly bragged out, often leading to Santi urging him to keep it down (which will inevitably be ignored or expanded upon specifically to make Santi flustered).
His loud and brash personality clashes with Tomás's reserved ways, but the two have a unique bond despite the expected incompatibility; Rafael is not at all discouraged by Tomás's quietness and Tomás isn't put off by Rafael's brazenness. They both think the other is easy to communicate with - Tomás never has to guess what Rafa's feelings are and Rafa likes Tomás's predilection for being a listening ear.
Cristián (20) is far old enough now to have an identity and social circle separate to those of his twin brother César, but when he was a young child he used to be very shy and hesitant to leave his brother's side. When Santi and Rafa became his friends it was the first time he felt comfortable with something (or someone) that was more or less his own - so when his new friends started chatting with Tomás he felt a little threatened. Fears of abandonment were unfounded though, as not only did his friends not dump him in favor of the New Kid, but he very quickly realized why they liked Tomás and ended up getting attached to him too.
As adults they have similar mellow temperaments and get along quite nicely, though Cris's vastly improved self-assurance has made him a lot more laidback and unflappable than the more organized and prim Tomás. Tomás admires Cris's ability to be both steadfast and considerate, unwavering in what he believes in but knowing when to handle situations with delicateness and care.
When Camilo entered the picture and turned the Patch into a five-man-band, all four of the older members collectively decided that he was more or less their joint little brother. Santiago attempts to provide Camilo with proper advice and look out for him in ways an older brother should, which often means trying to make sure Rafael keeps his crude language in check around him. Rafael usually does not, taking a completely different approach to being and older brother and totally enabling Camilo's mischievous nature. Cristián is somewhere in the middle, oftentimes siding with Santi or Rafa purely based on what he think would have the most entertaining result.
Beyond this though Cris is a unique source of understanding for Camilo, as Cris is the only other person he knows who doesn't experience romantic attraction for anyone and has no interest in dating. He could have asked Bruno, of course, but solidarity feels a little better coming from someone close to his own age rather than his quirky hermit uncle.--
Cris, Santi and Rafa are the older brothers to Cecilia, Alejandra and Juancho (the town kids) respectively.
Other relationships to Encantownies include:
Santi and Alejandra have five other siblings, and José (the tall fellow Camilo shifts into near the start of the movie) is their tío. Osvaldo is a tío to Rafael and Juancho, as well as their teenaged sister. Cris's parents are seen bringing Cecilia into Casita before Antonio's ceremony, and his twin brother César is the young man who asks Luisa to help upright his leaning house.
Other OCs:
Claudia Reyes (19) is the young lady with the drum seen during The Family Madrigal, whose family owns the music shop they're playing in front of. Beside her are her brother-in-law on the left and her father on the right.
She's Rafael's long-time girlfriend, on his same wavelength of open-mindedness and free spirit. They've been in a strange will-they-won't-they situation since they were teenagers, with Rafael playing it off like they're not all that serious and just messing around. Everyone knows Rafa's totally full of it and is head over heels for her though, including Claudia who's more or less just waiting for him to finally get around to proposing. They're going to have at least 4 kids together.
She knows the rest of the Patch more or less as her boyfriend's friends, but there's still rapport between them and Claudia's more than welcome to hang with the boys whenever she wants. On top of that, she's also Luisa's good friend who oftentimes will suggest Luisa try out outrageous things in an effort to push her out of her comfort zone.
The town librarian, usually referred to as the Maestro, is an enigmatic yet helpful figure in town whose mission in life is the sharing of knowledge. They can be considered everyone's friend, though like Horacio they have a kinship with Bruno that goes back quite a few years. All perfectly platonic, mind you! Additionally, given Lucía's history of volunteering in the library, the Maestro also is on good terms with the Herrera family and still keeps in touch with Horacio pretty regularly.
And I think those are the most notable relationships to get into for now! Up next will be the AU posts, and... boy, do I have a lot of those. 🫠

Dad jokes:. Gremlin mode
Pedro: I want mom to tie my shoes. She does the tying song best.
Bruno: I know buddy, but we are a little slow moving and your mom still needs to get her face on.
Catalina: Her what?!
Pedro: What does that mean?
Bruno: Oh you know. Your mom doesn't have a face, so she paints one on everyday.
Catalina: what?! You're lying, we would have noticed.
Bruno: y'know you'd think so, but your mom was born without a face, so she has gotten very good at it. Most people can't tell.
Pedro: wut....?
Catalina: he's fooling us. Don't believe him Pedro.
Bruno: I swear!
*Elena walks in*
"sorry duckies, I was putting my face on"
*Catalina and Pedro run screaming from the room*
Bruno:.... Ok maybe that was a bit much.
Elena: WHAT DID YOU DO?

Octavia is Just Vibing
Oneshot Summary: Octavia is still having a good time, even if her gift is gone. Granted, she'd be having an even better time if she hadn't just given Luisa an existential crisis.
Octavia’s name was not chosen for her by her family, instead it was chosen by one of the merchants who found her. They had picked her up on the side of the road, spent the weeks they were in the city looking for her family, then took her back to the Encanto with them and handed her off to her parents.
“They just knocked on my door and handed me a two year old,” her Pá once huffed, “just assuming I would be happy to raise her. They were right, sure, your Má and I were overjoyed, but still! The presumption of it all.”
Octavia had giggled, which was what her Pá had been going for. Her Pá loved making her laugh.
Once, she had asked what they would have named her if she hadn’t been named by the merchants. They had hemmed and hawed over it, then finally admitted that coming up with a name for Amada was hard enough, they had been happy to call her by whatever name she came with.
So, Octavia was her name, and building houses was her game. Or it would be, when she was ready.
The Madrigals were blessed with a miracle, but Octavia felt she was especially blessed. She had the best parents ever, the best siblings (if you ignored how overprotective Gabriel could be and how righteous Amada got), the best familia, and the coolest gift that could be used to help a lot of people. Counted among these blessings she had, was that she was younger than Luisa and therefore could learn from her older cousin’s life.
And what she had learned was that she should listen to her parents, and not let the town architect know how good at making castles Octavia was until she was ready to work her ass off.
So, Octavia hid her mastery of her gift, and life went great.
Until the familia started communicating better, that is.
“Why wouldn’t you want to be like me?” Luisa asked, eyes large and bottom lip trembling, she didn’t say the words “What’s so wrong about being like me?” but Octavia heard them loud and clear.
“Oh! No! No, that’s not what I meant,” she rushed to say, “I-I just don’t want to live the way you do.”
This was, apparently, only marginally better.
“My life isn’t that bad,” Luisa protested, “I mean, I know I need to relax a bit more. But my life isn’t terrible.”
“Eh, it kinda sucks,” Octavia shrugged, “I mean, you never get to spend any time with the familia, you never get to dance or join the games or even savor the food at parties, you barely have any real friends because you don’t have any free time, you don’t have any hobbies other than Chores, which are not a hobby by the way, you had to miss your class’ end of the year swim party for the last five years you were in school, you uh, you uh-. Should I stop talking?”
Luisa’s eyes were back to being really big, and her bottom lip was trembling again, only now Luisa’s really big eyes were shining with tears, and her trembling lip was attached to a gaped jaw. She appeared to be two shades paler, and her shoulders seemed to be caving in on themselves.
Octavia looked around for help. She was way too Twelve Years Old for this conversation.
They were in the mostly completed kitchen, putting the cabinets up. In the dining room, the adults were discussing how they were going to replace the appliances that Casita had created throughout the years. Casita was, after all, magic and could recreate any desired appliance at will. Nobody was sure what exactly it was that made Casita like refrigerators but not electric stoves, and nobody knew what the respectful way to restock the replacement of your dead sentient house was. So it was an important, and very engrossing, conversation Octavia didn’t feel comfortable interrupting.
Luisa put down the cabinet she had picked up before the conversation took this turn, then sat down on the freshly tiled floor, leaning against the counter. With a deep sigh, she put her head in her hands.
Octavia waited a while, hoping an adult would appear and fix the mess she’d made.
When that didn’t happen, she put down the hammer, and put the nail back in the box. She hopped off the counter so she could sit next to Luisa. Twiddling her thumbs she tried to think about something nice and comforting to say.
She came up short.
Eventually, Luisa shook her head and without lifting her face from her hands, said, “I’m wasting my life.”
“No you’re not! Just your life so far,” Octavia said, brightly.
“I’ve wasted my life,” Luisa corrected.
“Yeah!” Octavia paused, “Past tense. You’ve wasted your life, past tense.”
Luisa lifted her head and looked at Octavia, “Past tense.”
“Sí!”
Luisa contemplated this for a little then muttered, “I don’t even know what I would do with more free time.”
“All the other stuff you weren’t doing before,” Octavia said, although it came out sounding like a question.
“Oh spend time with the familia, sure. But what about friends? And hobbies? I don’t have any friends, any idea how to make friends, or even any clue what I enjoy doing. I like donkeys, but that’s not-, donkeys aren’t a hobby,” Luisa shook her head.
“Are donkeys friends?”
“No, they’re kinda jerks. I just think it’s cute, you know? How much attitude they have,” she huffed out a little chuckle.
“Oh. Well… cute animals! Everybody likes cute animals!”
“Does everybody think donkeys are cute?”
“No,” Octavia deflated, “what else do you like?”
Luisa shrugged, “I like it when your parents or Tío Félix join me when I’m working out, but that’s not-. That falls under the category of Spending Time with the Familia.”
Octavia nodded, then asked, “Are there any workouts that nobody in the family enjoys besides you?”
Luisa brightened, opening her mouth to answer, then slowly slumped back into her defeated position, shaking her head.
“Oh.”
They sat in silence for another minute, Luisa sighing every few seconds. Octavia could just barely make out Tía Pepa suggesting getting a toaster. This was followed up by her Pá pointing out, “We still need to figure out how to get electricity. None of this matters without electricity.”
Octavia contemplated that. Casita was magic and presumably, everything Casita had created was magic as well. At the very least, most of it had disappeared when the miracle fell to pieces. There were some scraps of their magic doors among the rubble, but the appliances and some of the furniture had just poofed out of existence. So, it seemed reasonable to assume all of that stuff was magic and powered by the miracle.
“We’re going to have to get a water heater,” she muttered. Octavia was not giving up warm showers.
“Hm?”
“Oh, sorry, nothing. I was just eavesdropping on the grown ups,” she turned more towards Luisa, “anyway! You’re sad!”
Luisa nodded, “I am.”
“Let’s go get cake, that should help, right?”
“N-now? B-but we’re supposed to be putting the cabinets up.”
“We can do that later,” Octavia stood, “besides, we’re also supposed to be fixing all the problems we’ve been ignoring. So, we kind of have to get you cake.”
Luisa shook her head, but also stood, “I’m pretty sure it’s going to take more than some cake to fix this.”
“Will the cake hurt?”
“No,” Luisa said, slowly.
“Great!” Octavia trotted out the side door, she glanced back over her shoulder and grinned when she saw her cousin following.
Luisa, being almost three times Octavia’s size, caught up with her quickly. She made an active, and obvious, effort to slow her steps down. Unfortunately, Luisa’s legs covered twice as much ground in a single step as Octavia’s so she kept pulling ahead.
“You shouldn’t have any problems making friends,” Octavia declared, after watching Luisa struggle not to ditch her, “you’re really nice. Although, people might try to take advantage of how nice you are. I mean, they kind of already have been.”
“They weren’t,” Luisa rushed to defend the other villagers, “it’s just… I could get things done twice as quickly as everybody else, so it just made sense for me to do it.”
“Má said that just because I can make a house in a day doesn’t mean I have to drop everything to make a house on demand,” Octavia said, “I mean, I can’t make a house anymore, but I don’t think the house part was the point. I think the point was just because you can do something doesn’t mean you have to.”
“I like helping people though, and I actually kind of like being able to wander around, get involved in a bunch of different things,” Luisa gave her a half smile, “I know I need to relax more, I do, a-and I definitely overdid it, but… I used to look forward to when people gave me problems that took more than just my strength to solve. Like redirecting the river. That sort of thing used to be so much fun.”
Octavia nodded, but didn’t say anything. She didn’t have a response to that other than, “That makes sense”, and that didn’t seem like it would move the conversation forward.
“I guess I like puzzles,” Luisa slowly realized, “and trying new things. And learning about all the different jobs there are in the village. Like, I’ve been wanting to give glassblowing a try, it looks interesting.”
Octavia nodded, “You should! You should totally do that.”
“Yeah,” Luisa also nodded, “yeah! I’ll try glassblowing. And all the other stuff I’ve been wanting to try.”
“But first, cake!”
“Sí, cake.”
They popped into the bakery that sold the best pastries in town and contemplated the offerings for the day. Octavia had a long-standing love for the place’s coffee cake, but Luisa kept looking between a pineapple cake and a chocolate cake. Her lips were pursed as she considered them.
The tiny guy behind the counter quietly cleared his throat, “Would-? Is there-? Can I help you?”
Octavia pointed at the coffee cake, “I’ll take a slice of that.”
“Claro,” he barely glanced at her, eyes trained on Luisa.
“I’m uh, still deciding.”
“Take your time,” he said, “let me know if you want anything. Anything at all.”
Luisa made a vague hum of acknowledgment. Her eyes were now meandering over some of the cookies.
The guy got a slice of the coffee cake and placed it down in front of Octavia, still watching Luisa.
“Gracias,” Octavia said.
“Mm-hm,” he nodded vaguely in her direction.
Luisa considered the pastries. The guy watched her. Octavia watched him watch her.
Somebody else entered the bakery, the barber. Not the one that Tío Agustín went to, the one that Tío Agustín had sworn he would never go to again.
“I’ll be right with you,” the guy behind the counter said.
“Oh, you can help him first,” Luisa waved him off, “I keep noticing different things I want to try.”
“Are you sure?”
“Sí, go ahead.”
“Alright, just tell me if you need anything.”
He turned to the barber and curtly took his order, put the muffins the barber asked for in a box, handed them over and took the barber’s money. He did it all very quickly, then immediately went back to watching Luisa.
“Why are you staring at Luisa so much?” Octavia asked, barely keeping her signature smile from turning into a mischievous grin.
The guy blanched, giving her a panicked look. He was two shades darker than her Tío Félix so she couldn’t tell if he was blushing, but the tips of his ears did look a lot redder all of a sudden. He looked back at Luisa, who was now focused on him instead of the desert, then immediately turned away.
He did not answer Octavia’s question.
She turned back to Luisa, but she was now staring at the counter guy, her cheeks steadily turning red.
“I’m missing something, aren’t I?” Octavia lied. You could get away with so much stuff if you pretended not to know what was going on.
“Wh-? No, no, this is just, uh this is Renato,” Luisa said, “he was in the grade above me in school.”
“Ok, but why are you guys being weird?” Octavia asked.
“Weird? Whose being weird?” Luisa laughed, talking quickly, “I’m not being weird. Are you being weird Renato?”
“I-. No?”
“See. Nobody’s being weird,” Luisa cleared her throat, “A-anyways, I think I’ll take the chocolate.”
“Right, yep, here you go,” Renato got her the biggest slice of chocolate cake there was. Octavia looked down at her comparatively meager slice of coffee cake.
“So, uh- Gracias. How much do I owe you?” Luisa asked.
“Nothing,” Renato said, immediately, “it’s uh, it’s on the house. I just hope you enjoy it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Sí,” Renato nodded, “it’s yours.”
“Gracias, Renato.”
“Claro Luisa.”
They stared at each other.
Octavia waited.
“Do you want to hang out with Luisa or something?” Octavia prompted in a cheerful voice, when they had been staring at eachother for too long, “You can stare at her some more.”
Renato blanched again, looking panicked. His mouth opened and a few aborted sounds came out then he laughed and shrugged and said, “Sure, yeah, if you want, Luisa.”
“I uh I would like that,” Luisa agreed, smiling a little and cheeks turning pink again.
“Great! Great, then we can, I can-, how about this Saturday? We can get lunch?”
“Sounds good to me,” Luisa nodded, then bit her lip, before asking, “Pick me up at noon?”
“I can’t wait,” he breathed, grinning from ear to ear.
“See you then,” Luisa slowly backed out of the bakery, waving at him. He waved back, looking like he might start dancing the second they were out of sight. Octavia followed Luisa, still looking between the two of them with raised eyebrows.
“So, I definitely missed something back there,” she lied, trotting to keep up with Luisa. She wanted to see if Luisa would tell her more about this Renato guy.
Unfortunately, Luisa just giggled, “Saturday!!”
“Uh sí, Saturday.”
They returned to Casita, eating their cakes as they went. Now instead of sighing at random, Luisa was giggling. This seemed really weird to Octavia, but was also obvious progress, so she didn’t say anything.
When they got to the kitchen, the grown ups were still in the dining room, now talking about the logistics of getting electricity. They finished off the last of their cakes, then got back to work.
Eventually, the sun began to set so the whole familia put down their projects and convened out back around the fire pit to help Tía Julieta grill up some dinner. Luisa sat between her sisters, excitedly whispering to them about Renato.
“I never thought he’d be interested in me, you know?” Luisa said, excitement raising her volume without her permission.
“Why wouldn’t he?! You’re beautiful,” Mirabel chirped brightly.
“You know why,” Luisa rolled her eyes and gently admonished her sister, “it’s not that I’m not proud of my strength, but I do have ears.”
“What?! Are guys insulting you or something?” Isabela asked, scowling. Octavia suspected she was ready to march off and kick some ass right then and there, which is something Octavia really, really wanted to see.
“No, no, no. It’s the other abuelas, actually,” Luisa shook her head, then shrugged, “you know how they can be.”
“Ah, si,” Isabela huffed, settling back, but scowling deeper.
“Well, they’re a bunch of jerks,” Mirabel said, quickly, “tell us about Renato!”
Meanwhile, Octavia sat between her own siblings, before long, their argument about whether or not fruit salad counted as a real salad drowned out Luisa’s conversation.
“Tia Julieta has a cookbook from the United States with a recipe for pasta salad,” Octavia interjected, and both of her siblings responded with outrage.
“You can’t just throw any random collection of food in a bowl and call it a salad,” Gabriel shook his head, aghast.
“Right, it has to be a plant,” Amada agreed.
“A vegetable, it has to be a vegetable.”
“I will bite you.”
“Bite all you want, that doesn’t make fruit salad a real salad.”
The Madrigal family was no longer blessed with a miracle, but today Octavia had finished up the kitchen, got some of her favorite cake, and made her cousin happy, so she figured she could still count herself as blessed.

Did Chepe's parents had other Close relations to other families besides Jose's parents?
Of course! Both Chepe's parents were well liked in the community and Julio (his dad) took a lot of the leadership role to assist Alma on establishing a farming community to feed the town and be self-sustaining. I see Chepe take over, but thankfully because of the town being self sufficient, he was able to mainly focus on his own farming.

Just to put them all in one place, for everyone’s connivence.
Not including canon relationships.
Alfonso Hernandez - Bruno
Lili Iglesias - Isabela
Marta Carrillo - Luisa
Marco Osma - Camilo
Now with face claims!
I don’t own the making Marco an OC, but just adding it anyways. And who knows? My interpretation may differ!

I got a Headcanon of Mirabel and Yamilet
I have a headcanon that when Yamilet can't visit Mirabel when she is sick, she will write a letter for Mirabel and have Antonio bird deliver the letter to her.
They exchange letters until Mirabel is well, they keep this tradition of exchanging letters.
That is so pure omg…and fairytaleish. And Antonio would 100% do it for his big prima’s girlfriend. Maybe Yamilet tells Dolores to tell Antonio whenever she is sick because she knows she can hear(unless she’s in her room ofc).
