I remember this as one of my first line drawings of this kind. Now I have it here as a reminder, in an old little frame, in my art studio. I like that the grain of the paper can be seen. I remember being on a train, to where - who knows, and seeing this man sitting there gazing in to the distance. What was on his mind - who knows. I always say to those who ask, "if you can write, you can draw", meaning you can put a pen to paper and take a line in whatever direction you choose. "Timeline - The Embrace", 150 cm by 50 cm, 2017, Charcoal, Ink, and Oil Paint on Canvas. This painting was inspired by those moments in life we all experience; emotive memories, love, longing, and hope. The figures are intertwined and interconnected as we all are, yet crossing our separate converging paths. Language weaves its way in to the narrative too, with a hint of Arabic calligraphy in the background, exploring identity, second languages, and heritage. Found this #timelapse and felt like re-sharing (full view this time, not cropped). Love that this painting now has a new home. Some of my first brushstrokes in my new art studio. #BeginSomewhere 🎨#vai ................. #Painting "Intuition" ... #Timelapse #paintingvideo #NewPainting This isn't #paintingbynumbers neither is it completely #traditionalpaintingtechniques . ☺️👨🏽‍🎨It is more #expressive , for me it feels like a conversation with paint, where I'm responding to what is happening, creating balance with brushstrokes (inspired by the movements of #Arabic writing) and colour harmonies, line and form. In my mind I've painted a picture, yet I enjoy giving the paint freedom to find something I hadn't yet imagined... The painting is about #emotivememories , relationships, identity, heritage, society, love and being loved, losing love, just being #human. "Intuition" (Timeline series), 100 by 76 cm, Oil on Canvas.
