Moon in Leo/5th house : transforms their pain & wounds into a form of art - whether it's through dancing, painting, singing, acting, photography, videography; sometimes they might not recognize how much their past affects them, especially around others, they boast about how "it wasn't that bad" even though they're clearly affected by what happened

Moon in Virgo/6th house : focuses on the details, what they could have done better and what they didn't, easily becomes anxious, cleaning the house becomes a form of therapy for them; in case of physical wounds, they document themselves very well (sometimes they are even able to heal themselves, since this Moon sign in Chiron persona chart has a sort of 6th sense about medicinal procedures)

LEE JENO — "the drummer" ▬ the fashionista of the group. smiles through the chaos like he’s in a sitcom. refuses to interfere in drama but secretly loves the tea. will laugh at your joke even if it’s bad because he’s just that wholesome. bangs on drums like it’s therapy and will deadass text “wyd?” to the group chat at 3 am like it’s normal. probably the only one keeping the band semi-functional. is surprisingly very perceptive.

NEO AXIS — "the band" ▬ neo axis is what happens when you take five people with way too much talent and zero self-awareness, throw them into a group, and let them loose. they’re like a bad reality show waiting to happen, but with expensive instruments and questionable life choices. their music is a blend of deep lyrics and total randomness (thank you, haechan), yet somehow they pull it off. every show is an unpredictable rollercoaster, and you’d be a fool to think they know what they’re doing. but that’s what makes them so fun.

Top 10 Cozy BLs!

Our Dating Sim made me realize we have a new sub genre of BLs happening right now: the cozy BL. 

I decided to invent/identify/name this new BL category because... I can. I crowd sourced (here in the hellhole) opinions of how to define it and what should go on it. The collective brainstormed and elected the following qualifications: 

low angst 

low stakes 

high domesticity 

a central relationship that is more cute than anything else

extra points for found family

AKA BLs that make you feel happy and comfortable. 

These BLs leave you feeling warm and safe, like a hot water bottle. I will list them in order of my personal preference when in the mood for “cozy.”

1. Our Dating Sim 

(Korea, Viki) 

Did I create this list for this show? Yes I did. It defines this category. It is a very low stakes, high domesticity, extremely warm and gentle second chance at love office romance. 

This is a fuzzy blanket of a story that perfectly suited KBL’s short-length tendencies. The pacing is... muuuuuah... chef’s kiss. 

2. Seven Days 

(Japan, grey in 2 parts Seven Days: Monday - Thursday | Seven Days - Friday - Sunday) 

 Popular first year Seiryo has a policy of going out with any girl who asks… for one week. On a lark, third year Yuzuru tests to see if that policy also applies to boys. Seiryo agrees that it does. Along the way they accidentally fall in love. Possibly my favorite BL of all time. It’s very gentle with us and its characters while still having that Japanese emo edge to it. 

A master class in quite yet riveting cinema. 

What, you doubted me? OF COURSE it’s on the list

3. My School President

GMMTV gave us a classic high school set Thai BL with tropes like messy boys singing their feelings that made this one Love Sick for the modern age with all the gentle sweetness and pining ache, but none of the dated damaging tropes or issues. Yes, we’ve seen it all before, but I still ADORED this, and that’s partly what makes it so comforting. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny? 

4. See You After Quarantine?

(Taiwan, Viki) 

Be you never expected lockdown to be comforting? This under appreciated gem is Taiwan’s answer to Gameboys and is just as charming and adorable yet still as quintessentially Taiwanese as one might hope. It features a Japanese love interest and the cutest most confused disaster gay. Slow burn because the two have almost no actual screen time together and yet manage some truly amazing chemistry plus sweetly caring and earnest. Honestly how does Taiwan do it?

5. Ingredients

At the time (during lockdown) many of us referred to this as our “emotional support grocery store advertisement.” If all you want is two soft boys being domestic, cooking together, cuddling on the couch, cat sitting, and babysitting - just put this on and be comfy.

6. What Did You Eat Yesterday?

(Japan, grey) 

Basically the grown up version of Ingredients. Emotionally repressed, grumpy, salary man shows his hair dresser husband his love by cooking amazing meals. That’s it, that’s the whole show. There some queer fam drama, and blood-fam coming out drama, but mostly is husbands cooking and eating together and it’s great. Is it BL? Not really. Do we care? Not really. 

7. The New Employee

(Korea, Viki) 

This one is queer comfort, explicitly. If you aren’t queer you might not find it as warm and engaging. A near pitch perfect office BL with conflict derived from that setting. Also featuring found family and a lesbian bestie. Sweet & innocent (and out) Seung Hyun scores the office internship of his dreams. On his first day at work he gets into it with his cool reserved (and also v gay) boss. 

As you do. 

But things get romantic pretty darn quickly. 

As you gay. 

8. En of Love: Tossera & Future the series

Tossera = Younger boy wants to court older boy and does and… that’s it. No really that’s the WHOLE STORY. There is actually no angst, drama, or, indeed plot. But are they the softest bois ever to BL as a main couple? Yes, yes they are.

Future is... exactly the same thing. 

Are we mad about it? 

Nope. 

9. Oxygen 

(Thailand, YouTube) 

Softest seme in the universe sings his affection to the older boy at the cafe. Let the slow burn courting commence. Oxygen uses every BL trope in the playbook for one of the gentlest lowest angst BLs ever made. It’s a hyung romance (younger boy courts older boy) but very very earnest about it. Am I biased? Sure. This is probably one of my biggest comfort watches. 

10. Our Dining Table 

(Japan, Gaga)

Lonely salaryman and talented cook gets accidentally adopted by a college kid and his little brother. It’s a quiet cozy little parable of found family alleviating loneliness. Possibly too slow for some but definitely high up there for me with the best of what Japan can do (like Restart After Come Back Home), it’s only flaw (if I dare say such a thing) is that it is not really “romantic.” Lovely & sweet but the romance beats are being used to build a family relationship, not just couple intimacy, it’s OK with me, but not totally BL.

For me one of the hallmarks of cozy BL is that as a chronic rewatcher I find myself starting to rewatch these ones even as they are still airing. Oxygen was an icon of this (also my first watch-along and the reason I realized I really had a passion for BL)

Boys Lockdown (YouTube) - actually on this list because it go so many votes by everyone else, I haven’t watched it. 

My Ride (GaGa) - Thai BL grew up with this pulp - a truly lovely and special little show featuring the extremely rare pairing of sunshine/sunshine AKA a cinnamon roll couple. Mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. In other news, I am a sucker for a single dimple. Full review.

Cherry Magic (Japan, indie subbed) AKA Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni narerurashii - the sweetest, fluffiest, most charming bit of adorable ever, full of found family and pastry and serious slapstick, the characters are utter spazzes, but so cute about it. Still that aspect makes me a little tense so I don’t find it as cozy as others do.

La Cuisine (GaGa) - sweet and kind of pure show, and like Thai desserts perhaps requires too much patience for a layperson. Because of the pacing and the focus on the bad girl character, I did dock it. But if you like stuff in the Oxygen vein, then this show is for you, and far better than most Thai BL pulps. That said, I suspect that I enjoyed it more than many would. Full review.

I didn’t get a chance to play the nomad route but the speedrun Vinia route I managed to squeeze in was drama enough oof. Brought my MC’s main squeeze Oren to the family dinner and it wasn’t as much of a disaster as anticipated but still wildly uncomfortable. Should have brought Irus lol. And poor Uncle Belahm and Zikar. ���� my heart breaks for them. Truly think uncle Belahm would have thrown hands with Salyra if he hadn’t been holding his baby girl. And man Zikar gambling and drinking to deal with the grief. My poor MC is so worried and so am I.

But ooohh that bombshell with Oren’s family if you have dinner with them. I had to do a speed run due to time constraints but did I read that right? Oren is originally from Ishari? 👀 bound to cause some, uh, interesting conversations. I assume that’s why he was wildly uncomfortable in the southern islands after the confrontation with Emos. Probably thinking “oh man didn’t realize MC got treated THAT bad growing up and being judged for being Ishari, I dodged a bullet there but I kinda feel guilty MC didn’t get the same luck, maybe I should say something…” but I can imagine that growing up a traumatized orphan refugee from a wartorn country is not something he would want to talk about. But it does explain the “gotta protect my loved ones and be useful” energy radiating off of his broad shoulders.

And OHH SHIT the multiple political bombshells of Irus’ mom killing his dad and his uncle killing Elora’s dad. 👀 and the slap in the face that Salyra continues to keep BIG secrets from everyone. And the feelings of resentment Elora must feel towards her mom who judges her for her youth and inexperience in leadership but also dipped to the southern islands when her husband died. Like what was Elora /supposed/ to do?! Someone had to pick up the pieces.

You're right, both of the royals bring out the worst of Salyra's temper/rudeness at the family dinner. Oren is definitely more of a peacekeeper in tense situations.

Yes, the Vinia family are struggling with grief in their own ways. Siduri is trying to make the family whole again with Salyra, Belahm is angry and sad at Salyra, but also trying to be strong for his kiddos and Zikar is definitely... trying to keep it together but failing terribly at it.

Yes! Oren is adopted but something that was mentioned is that a lot of children who were orphaned in the war were taken in by Vinia families. Oren was born in Ishari and spent his early childhood there but it's something he's tried to forget because like Anu, he lost his birth parents and family in the war. Unlike Anu, Oren was the fortunate few who got sent to Vinia where he was adopted by his fathers and got to live a fairly secure and happy life. So yes, if you noticed Oren's discomfort with Emos, your reasoning is correct 😋

There are tons of political bombshells in Part 4, a lot of which is going to change the main cast for better or worse. The MC has had it bad and so have the others, so they're not all going to be happy and rallying for peace as much as they were a few chapters ago 😅 In the Nomad Tribes, there's also the chance for Irus to kill a chief and you can set fire to the encampment so a lot of consequences are going to follow in Chapter 12's main battle. Elora was serious about sending her mother away to the Southern Islands – Amera has been interfering in Elora's rule of Vinia and the girl has had enough of her meddling ways. She's definitely going to lose the softness that she's had in the past in the last few chapters.

So i was thinking of making a fake generation of my little pony, honestly i simply drew them at first to make a good background for my school laptop however I've actually have written down stuff on them so i figured I'd make a post about it

Here's their designs i think they're really cute, most are based on gen 3 ponies and the blue one is twilight, pinky pie is pink toola roola is the orange one the green one is minty the white one is star catcher and the purple one is sky wishes, i also have sketches of pinky's niece and twilight's little sister but nothing concrete yet in terms of design

I also have their cutie marks fully designed, i will explain their reasoning for having them right now

Pinky is obviously a party planner, although in my version I'd feel she'd also be able to plan formal events and that would be her main income, i imagine she's really good at public speaking, however i also think she wouldn't be able to bake or cook so she'd delegate it to another pony

This is sky wishes cutie mark, i feel her job is ran outside her house, she reads tarot cards to people and tells them their fate, i also imagine she likes astrology and is obsessed with star signs i also imagine she lets pinky's niece, love letter, run her business stand outside her house under her watch i also imagine she'd have difficulty flying for more than a few seconds or even walking in others

Pinky often delegates her catering to minty, she can cook a variety of meals and probably writes her own recipes but specializes in sweet treats and makes those the most, also pinky and minty live together in mintys bakery

Twilights talent is still magic and she works in demolition, i imagine she is powerful enough to levitate herself or another pony, I'd see her being confident and also a bit emo, i imagine her and her sister raspberry popper would talk in 'horse code' (mlp sign language, it would literally just be morse code) I've looked at how the hearing aids are typically drawn on ponys however i don't know how i like them drawn on twilight

Here is star catchers cutie mark, she leads the towns weather team to make sure the right weather is in the right place, i also imagine they'd be trying to prevent or stop attacks or natural disasters in the town, i feel like she'd be pretty busy a lot of the time, although she wouldn't have to actively be setting up weather a lot of the time she'd still have to be there on the lookout or be giving training to new workers

And toola roola obviously is talented in art, i feel her house has either a ton of her paintings or even paintings by artist she likes, i feel like there would purposefully not be much if any self portraits of herself and she'd also probably live in her head quite a bit, i feel she'd be the "twilight" of my made up generation, i could also see her reading a ton of comic books but probably not regular novels

Black Libary Writer Ranking?

I'm notoriously bad at remembering names, so I really only remember authors who either excite me a lot or completely horrify me. So it's probably not really a ranking!

My favourite author is (who would have guessed!) Josh Reynolds. He manages to fill action sequences with life just as much as he fleshes out his characters and brings in the most interesting supporting characters, all of whom are not just background noise but drive the plot and have their own agenda. And by the way, his language is beautiful and a pleasure to read.

Then follow Nick Kyme and Chris Wraight. You can just tell Nick Kyme loves his characters (even if he kills them off a bit too often for my taste!) and is keen not just to churn out a plot, but to bring background and expand the universe.

Chris Wraight is also a fantastic world builder. And, incidentally, someone who tries not to fall into stereotypes too often. And someone else whose language I really like and who takes the trouble to bring in a lot of background.

I like Abnett occasionally. He's written the best versions of Lucius and Saul, and his "Know No Fear" is my benchmark for disaster movies. Uhh … disaster books? He can do timing and he can do action. What he can't do for a nickel is female characters. Every one of his women is "not like the other girls" at its purest. And the fact that in every one of his stories humans have to be given a supporting (yeah, most times even main) plot line, even if the novel is about Space Marines or Primarchs, is absolutely not my thing.

Ian St. Martin has delivered solid entertainment with the 40k Lucius stories and the infamous landmine short story made me laugh a lot. For the most part, I really liked the side characters he served up. Can and should certainly write more about the Emperor's Children. At least when he hits the brakes a bit on the Slaanesh stuff.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden is a very solid author as well. I love how he dives into his characters and tries to bring out the best and most interesting sides in them. At least with the canon-characters. His OCs tend to be very similar and I'm not that into troubled emo-boys. 😁

Honourable mention for John French, I quite liked "Slaves to Darkness".

I think Guy Haley is okay. No particular thoughts on that. So how he handles the Fabius/Cawl book will be a key experience for me as far as he is concerned.

Anthony Reynolds, the author of the Word Bearers 40k books, has undoubtedly made an effort and Burias, Marduk and Kol Badar are also quite great characters - but unfortunately he can't really write a story. He has a pattern and he follows it in every book. In every one.

Not quite the big hit for me is Steve Parker. I love Kill Team Talon. These guys are entertaining and have a fantastic dynamic. Great fun to read and I'd like all the books to be about them too. Unfortunately they aren't. Instead you get over half the pages of boring inquisition plot and misogynist crap of the highest order. Unnecessary. Could be so nice! (Almost as bad as McNeill's famous bouncing boobies. And ten times more "not like the other girls" than Abnett). Please Kill Team Talon by another author! I like them too much.

Who's at the bottom of my list is probably well known, and I've already explained in detail why I need a restraining order for McNeill to stop him writing anything for the Emperor's Children.

I've now probably forgotten about ten authors or so that I also have an opinion on. But I can add them when I get a chance!
