Alice's vision came to her a week before he met you, and her and Edward debated for days on whether they should tell Carlisle or not.
"But they should meet organically, you shouldn't force anything." Edward griped at Alice in the living room, their siblings watching in entertainment.
"It's not forcing, Edward, it's warning. Have you ever seen him talk to a woman romantically?"
Edward thought about it, and he hadn't. Of course, he heard the thoughts of Carlisle's coworkers when visiting his father at the hospital, but to Carlisle, they had largely gone unnoticed or ignored.
"No. Have you?"
"Exactly!" Alice exclaimed, and she turned to Rosalie. "And the way that they meet is just so cute!"
"Alice, I'm sorry," Rosalie laughed, gesturing to Edward. "I'm on his side for this one. If they're supposed to spend eternity together, what's some time letting them find each other?"
"Alice, I will tell you right now, that Jasper and Emmett are on your side." Edward groaned, running a hand through his hair. Rosalie turned to Emmett and raised an eyebrow, challenging him to go against her.
"Well, I do agree with Alice, but since the both of you are terrifying, what about a compromise?" Emmett suggested, patting his mate's leg gently.
And so they decided not to tell him, rather lead him in the right direction. And the right direction was to a new record store in Forks.
You ran a hand through your hair as you took one last look at the store. Everything was clean, organized logically... What was missing? Okay, all the lights were turned on, and the comfortable, warm glow eased your worries a bit. The quietness of the building made you uneasy, despite the sign on the door reading, "Closed!"
Almost subconsciously, you smack your forehead. It's quiet! There's supposed to be music in a music store! You flipped the sign, and rushed to your phone. In your anxiousness of opening this store, it was only natural for you to spend weeks curating the perfect playlist.
"Alice, I don't understand. If you want something so badly from this store, why can't you go?" Carlisle was exasperated, as Alice had been begging him all week to go to some new store that had opened in town.
"Can you please just stop by and see if they have it! I don't want to waste my time." Edward stifled a smile at her desperation, her mind still coming up with reasons as to why she couldn't go.
"Alice." Carlisle placed his hand on her shoulder, to calm her. "You seem very passionate about this, so I will go and look." He shrugged on a coat, and grabbed his car keys. "I want a tune-up on my car by Monday!" He called behind him, and set out to find this record.
"I hope you have a good day!" You called out the door, giddy that business seemed to be going well. Honestly, you expected it to be super dead, but apparently, the people of Forks desperately needed music, and you made a mental note to buy more guitars for the next shipment.
"Hello?" You heard a voice calling as the door swung open. You looked up from your computer to see a blonde man stepping in, looking mildly confused. Wow. Okay. Yikes. This man certainly didn't look like the rest of your customers, all indie high schoolers or alternative twenty-somethings, but still, the sight of him made you forget how to breathe for just a second.
"Hey!" You tucked your loose hair behind your ear, and smiled, trying not make your fascination for him obvious. "Looking for anything specific?"
He smiled back at you, and glanced around your store.
"Yes, my daughter sent me here to get an album for her, could you help me?"
"Absolutely! Do you know the name of the album?"
"I think it's called... To The Fire? Away From The Fire? The band name is kind of German sounding." He realized how little information Alice gave him about what exactly she wanted, and sighed.
"Could it be From The Fires by Greta Van Fleet?" You raised an eyebrow, and gestured for him to follow you. "Would you recognize it by the art?" You were absolutely dedicated to do whatever it would take for him to keep coming back, and your customer service voice was working overtime. He nodded, and followed you into a corner, the entire section labeled 'Rock.' "Your daughter has good taste, Greta Van Fleet is one of my personal favorites." You flipped through the albums until you found the one you wanted.
You held it up to him, and you could tell he recognized the picture.
"Yes, that's exactly it. You're very good at what you do."
He couldn't help but stare at her. There was something about her, something in her that he could feel himself drawn to. The shop had a pleasant vanilla smell, but the scent of her blood was calling him more than anything.
"What kind of music do you like?" Your voice cut through the silence, trying to contain yourself in the wake of his praise. He seemed taken aback by your question, like nobody had ever asked him before.
"I'm more into classical music. Tchaikovsky, Chopin-"
"Vivaldi?" You questioned, walking behind your counter and sliding the record into a bag. A slight smile cracked on his face, and he cocked his head.
"I love Vivaldi."
"He goes hard." You grinned, and glanced at your register, already inputting a steep discount. If you could have any loyal customer here, it would have to be whoever this guy is.
"You've been such an amazing help, what's your name?" He handed you $20, and you could barely focus on counting his change right. Stop acting stupid! Focus!
"My name's (y/n). Yours?" When he took the bag, he didn't look like he was making any effort to leave.
"My name's Carlisle."
"Well, Carlisle, if that's not the album your daughter wanted, you can always come back and exchange it for the right one." You leaned against the counter, and the way that Carlisle followed your movement made you fight a smile. "And if she's interested, I have live music on Fridays. It might help get her down here herself." He laughed at your suggestion, and turned to leave. Carlisle hesitated in opening the door, and gave you one final smile as he exited.
As soon as the cool air hit his lungs, he inhaled deeply, clearing the scent of you out of him. It dizzying to him, to where he almost felt drunk. He stopped in his tracks on the sidewalk, the thought finally crossing his mind. That's why Alice sent him here. This woman was his blood singer. He heard Aro talk about it multiple times during his time in the Volturi, but after centuries of not experiencing that level of desire, he simply believed it didn't exist. Not for him, at least. He pulled out his phone, and quickly shot a text to Alice, a grin breaking out on his face.
C: You could have just told me. Carlisle spun on his track, knowing what he had to do, and his phone vibrated.
A: Blame Edward.
As soon as you forced him out of your mind, you heard the door open again. You looked up to see Carlisle, and you mentally groaned. Looks like he's going to be in your thoughts all day.
"Do I need to brush up on my music identification skills?"
"Would you like to have dinner?"
You spoke at the same time, but his voice dwarfed yours, and you raised your eyebrows. Did he just ask you to dinner? Your brain was completely blank, completely surprised by his question. Your eyebrows knit together, and you waited for him to change his mind. Or to tell you it was a joke.
"Uh, yes, I would." You scrambled to find a pen and a receipt slip that you could write your phone number on, and you rolled your eyes at the slight shaking in your hands.
"We don't have to go to dinner." Carlisle added. "We could go on a hike, I could show you around Forks, anything. Whatever you want, as long as you're there." The glint in his eyes was mesmerizing, and you couldn't help but smile.
"It sounds like you've got it all figured out."
"I sure hope I do."

Part 3 of Asexual Rep AU (QAF)
I have decided to upload another part because it's been written so, you are welcome @maryp50 and @winderlylandchime HEHE
Justin worked the rest of his shift with an energy he’d been lacking before. Normalcy had been restored, and Brian was once again that bitchy business queen in his mind. His one moment of kindness and concern had been overshadowed by his arrogance. It was the way things should be.
That night after work, Justin went to Woody’s for a couple of drinks where he ran into Emmett and Ted. The duo quickly welcomed him to join them as they scouted the room for potential partners for the evening. Around 2 am, they all packed it in and went home alone. However, Justin was sure Emmett was going to end up calling that cute Southern man he’d been flirting with for most of the night.
Justin walked the four blocks to his and Daphne’s place, his thoughts a million miles away. Once he arrived at their apartment and let himself in, he immediately went to bed. Daphne was a pre-med student, so she had early classes almost every single day. He knew they would chat in the morning over their cups of coffee and last-minute study sessions.
Sure enough, the next morning, Daphne woke him up half an hour early with a hot cup of coffee and the look of a best friend who wanted to talk.
“Mmm.” Justin took a sip from the proffered mug and smiled, “Thanks.”
“I feel like we keep missing each other. I haven’t seen you in days.” Daphne gave Justin her signature ‘you’re toast’ look.
“Between work and school, I barely have any time to myself.” Justin shrugged and leaned his back against his headboard. “Let alone time for freedom and fun.”
“I distinctly remember you telling me about a fun night at a gay club a few weeks ago.” Daphne crawled up the bed to position herself side-by-side with Justin.
“Yeah, well, I didn’t tell you the whole story.” Justin sighed and closed his eyes. This would be the first time he would be talking about the incident out loud.
“Oh?” Daphne sounded nonchalant and unconcerned, but Justin knew better. She was itching to know more.
“Emmett invited me to join him and Ted at this gay club Babylon after I got off work that Thursday night. So, having nothing better to do, I joined him.” Justin put his coffee mug down on the bedside dresser.
“Oh my god! How was it? I have always wanted to go to a gay club!” Daphne perked up, her excitement barely contained.
“You are a freak, you know that?” Justin laughed at his best friend before he continued. “Anyway, I enjoyed some time on the dance floor until this guy made a move to undo my pants. Without asking me.”
“Please tell me you punched him!” Daphne looked horrified at what could potentially happen to him.
“No, but Brian showed up and possessively pushed those guys away,” Justin responded. “And then he kept dancing with me until I wanted to go home. It was weird, like he wanted something from me but didn’t ask.”
“Brian. The Brian. The older guy who comes into the diner and constantly treats you like crap? That guy?” Daphne knew all about Brian because of how often Justin complained about him. But she didn’t know that Brian always gave Justin more of a tip than was necessary.
“Yep!”
“And?” Daphne turned to face him with an expectant look, but Justin didn’t have anything else to give her.
“And nothing. It’s been almost two weeks, and he hasn’t said a word to me about it. And before yesterday, our interactions at the diner and the few occasions I’ve seen him at Woody’s have all been the same. But, then yesterday, I was working the late shift, and his whole friend group came in, and instead of being rude and snarky to me, Brian was kind. Unnaturally kind, like invasion of the body snatchers.” Justin sat up completely and crossed his legs.
“He likes you!” Daphne squealed and put her hands on each of Justin’s biceps. She shook him excitedly as her grin grew more and more.
“What?! No! The guy is a conceited asshole.” Justin dismissed Daphne’s assertion. “Moments later, we were out back, and Brian told me he was everyone’s type.”
“Back up. Why were you both out back?” Daphne gave him a knowing look.
“I needed a breath of fresh air because it's all so confusing,” Justin exclaimed.
“And he followed you.” Daphne continued to give him a look. “Because he likes you.”
“No, Brian isn’t like that. He doesn’t do boyfriends or commitment of any kind. He is all about sex.”
“And that makes you upset because you like him, and you know the moment he learned you don’t like sex, he would stop being interested.” Daphne pulled her best friend into a deep hug.
“I shouldn’t like him, Daph. I know it won’t end well. But, he’s all I think about even when he’s not around.”
“Then you need to limit your time around him. At least until you are over him.” Daphne gave Justin one last squeeze before she got up to go shower and head to her first class.
“How? He comes into the diner every day. I can’t exactly quit my job. I need the money.”
“How about I start coming to the diner after my classes to help keep you focused?” Daphne stated. “That way, you can work and not get drawn any deeper under his spell.”
“Okay. We can try that.” Justin agreed as he, too, got up to get ready for classes.
The next day, Daphne was true to her word and deposited herself at the back corner booth to study while Justin did his Friday evening shift. Things were going well, and they hadn’t seen hide nor hair of Brian, despite seeing Ted and Emmett early in his shift. He was certain Brian wouldn’t show up that night when the man came breezing through the door. Only, he wasn’t his usual self. This time, Brian was wearing a white tee under his signature black leather jacket. His hair was a mess and Justin was pretty sure the tee had some stains on them. Not only that, Brian was lugging a baby carrier on his right arm. Justin bit back a laugh at the image.
A loud squeal was all he heard before Debbie pushed him aside in favor of the baby.
“GUS!” Debbie cooed as she unbuckled the baby and held him in her arms. Justin wasn’t familiar enough with babies to guess his exact age, but he figured he looked to be a few months old.
“If you love him so much, you can take him.” Brian groused and slumped down onto the counter. “Lindsay thought I was responsible enough to take care of him for the weekend while she works and Mel is at her yenta mother’s.”
“Well, you are his father!” Debbie admonished him. “And don’t insult Mel or her mother.”
“It’s not as though Mel wouldn’t do the same with me.” Brian tried to argue. “Besides, I gave up my rights as his father the day he was born. That was our deal.”
“A piece of paper doesn’t erase DNA.” Debbie chided and handed the baby back to Brian.
Justin finally found his voice enough to snark out incredulously, “You’re a dad?”
“I donated my spunk to a couple of cwazy wesbians.” Brian parroted as he stared his son in the eyes and made a goofy face for his benefit, “That doesn’t make me a father.”
Justin didn’t say anything else. He didn’t know what to say. But it did end up making him think about his own father for the first time in ages, really think about him. Brian’s assertion that a sperm donation didn’t make him a father nor give him the responsibility of stepping up really got under Justin’s skin. His whole life he believed his father loved him unconditionally. Despite their lack of connection or understanding, the man still loved him. Then, he learned quickly that there was one thing that could turn his father’s love off. Coming out as gay.
He walked away and let Debbie deal with him. He went over to Daphne’s booth and sat down. She didn’t say anything, but she placed her hand on his just the same. If anyone understood his complicated relationship with his dad, Daphne did.
“Don’t judge him.” Debbie’s voice floated above him. Justin looked up into the soft, dark eyes of the woman, “Remember what I said about how most people here have their own story? Well, Brian’s dad is probably the worst of them all.”
Justin silently looked at Debbie as he processed her words. “Just think about it, sunshine.”
As Justin continued his shift, he occasionally let his gaze wander over to Brian. Eventually, the man pulled out what looked like work as Gus slept in his baby carrier. Without a word, Justin refilled his coffee cup. He looked at Brian’s papers from across the counter. It was a bunch of artwork for what looked to be an ad.
“Can I?” Justin motioned to the ad Brian was fussing over.
Brian looked at Justin and then at the ad. “Sure, I can’t quite figure out why I don’t like it.”
Justin looked it over. The people in the image looked happy enough, the words stood out. Then he saw it.
“You need to change the color of the font. Right now, the blue gives the image’s happiness a bitter tinge, making it sad. You want people to love the idea of this product. The text should be orange to invigorate them.” Justin gave a tight smile as he handed the ad back to Brian.
He started to move away and see to the people who had just sat down at Table 4 when Brian grabbed at his hand.
“How do you know?” The man looked genuinely interested to know how it was that Justin could see what he had missed.
“I’m an art major at PIFA with an interest in graphic art.” Justin shrugged and then went back to work, leaving Brian to contemplate what he’d just said.
By the time Justin was able to make it back over to Brian at the counter, another thirty minutes had passed, and he was now feeding the baby a bottle. Justin hung back to watch how gentle and unguarded Brian was around the little boy who shared his genetic material. Despite what Brian had said, Justin could see firsthand just how much Brian actually loved his son.
“You know, just because our dads before us have fucked everything up doesn’t mean you can’t do things differently,” Justin whispered, filled Brian’s cup again, and then walked away to clock out and gather up Daphne so they could go home.
He was just out the door when Brian’s hand landed on his bicep to stop him. Daphne gave him a look and motioned that she would be just up the block. Justin silently begged her to stay right there, but she shook her head and left.
Justin turned around and gave Brian a smile. The two stood there in awkward silence for a few minutes before Brian bit his lip. Justin noticed that his hands were doing that weird thing they did when he was uncomfortable or nervous, where he had his fingers battling each other for dominance.
“Look, I just wanted to say thank you.” Brian took a deep breath. His face looked pained, as though it took so much out of him to admit that simple phrase.
“Oh. It was no big deal.” Justin waved him off and moved to reunite with Daphne.
But Brian stopped him once more by grabbing his arm. Only this time, the force spun Justin around until he was in Brian’s chest, and the older man’s arms were wrapped around his torso. Justin knew he should leave right then. No good would come out of whatever was bound to happen next.
“I don’t understand you.” Brian whispered, “The minute a guy doesn’t show interest in me, I forget him. But with you, I can’t stop.”
“Uhh.” Justin’s mouth was suddenly dry. “I, um, I’m sorry?” Justin tried, not really sure what Brian wanted from him.
“I don’t believe in love. I believe in fucking. It’s honest. It’s efficient. You get in and out with a maximum of pleasure and a minimum of bullshit. And yet, for some reason, I can’t quite get you out of my head.”
Justin couldn’t seem to get the words out at first, his brain in overdrive trying to process whatever it was that Brian was saying. He finally managed after what felt like hours.
“I believe in love and commitment. I’m not a fan of sex. It makes things messy and complicated.”
“I should be running away. And yet, all I want to do is get closer to you.” Brian admitted before he leaned over and placed his lips on Justin’s.
The heat that immediately radiated from Brian’s body and into Justin at their contact almost stopped his heart. This kiss was like nothing Justin had ever felt before. If lightning were to strike him down at that moment, he would die happy. Their kiss continued long enough for Brian’s tongue to ask for entrance into Justin’s mouth. That little tap woke Justin up, and the magic was gone. He pulled out of Brian’s touch entirely.
The two stared at one another and muttered, “Fuck.” at the same time, but with entirely different meanings.
Then Justin ran to Daphne, putting as much space between him and Brian as he could.

I NEED more travel journalist Emmett thoughts. I'm obsessed with this idea and I literally can't stop thinking about him. 💓
AW thanks babe 💕 this is lowkey a blast from the past i kinda forgot about this but it got me to look at my angsty travel journalist emmett moodboard i made ages ago…
i’ll just word vomit some emmett travel journalist angst under the cut
- emmett is almost painfully alone. he can’t really be any other way. half his life is spent on planes, flying over vast oceans, travelling across borders on trains and buses, staving off sleep as he drives a rented car or rides a motorbike through new terrains. as soon as he hits the ground in a new city, he’s off exploring, organising interviews, focusing on the grittier sides of every place he goes to, even if it means trekking through miles or jungle or desert, trying out unorthodox foods and customs or diving straight into danger and conflict.
- when he’s on assignment, he spends his days exploring his assigned location, and his nights writing by the spotty lighting of whatever hostel or homestead he’s in (or by candlelight in a tent, if he really has to rough it out)
- he feels like he’s walked the whole world in his beat up old boots. he’s exhausted. his eyes have that world weary look of someone who’s seen it all, but he thinks he could never give it up. it’s something he needs to do. he’s used to never being in the same place for more than a couple months. he’s used to having his bag packed and ready, no matter what.
- but it’s lonely. his travels have allowed him to make connections all over the world, but they’re tenuous. he can’t cultivate any relationship when he’s got to be on the road all the time. but he’s used to it.
- he’s in between assignments and he needs a place to crash for a week or two while waiting for the magazine he works for to send him his next location. he calls up a friend in the city he happens to be in and asks to crash for a little. he agrees, but warns emm that he has another guest staying in the guestroom, so emm will have to crash on the couch. emm agrees. he’s used to making do. he meets you, the other guest, when he comes to stay.
- i wrote about how reader and him get closer here
- he doesn’t like how quickly he gets attached. you’d think that nothing could scare him after everything he’s been through, but he’s scared about how much you feel like home after spending all his life treating”home” as a foreign concept, running from place to place with no strings attached.
- after two weeks of falling too hard and too fast for you, he gets the call. either he gets on a plane within the next couple of days and forgets all about you, or he makes the commitment to stay.
- he’s too used to running. you’re off into town for the day, and you had invited him, but he had declined, lying that he had some writing to do. right before you get into the car, you looked up to wave and smile at him as he watched you from the window above. it took everything in him to plaster a smile on his face and wave back, like everything was normal. then you were gone.
- he’s gone soon after, leaving while you’re still in town without telling you. you come back, excited to tell him all about the day you had, but the room is empty, all of his stuff packed and gone.
:((( bummer ANYWAY sorry it took me so long to respond to this i have more journalist emmett thoughts about when he’s travelling after this series of events and the reader and his eventual reunion… but that post would literally be a million years long but im willing to share if you’re interested hehe 🥰 thanks for the ask babe

Not sure if you have already answered this do you have other muses? Your writing is out of this world. I love your Squieri muses. I’d love to see you write another musician who maybe joins the twins on tour (bonus if you use Tyler posey or Cody Christian) hehe anyway hope you have a magical day and keep being amazing and keep writing. And both Kass and Kitty just AMAZING!!
I do have several Muses. :)
Kat and Kass, Feyre, Emmett, Eurydice, and Doctor Victor Von Doom.
Tyler posey would be a lovely FC. :)
Though my next two blogs are actually going to be be two cannon characters. 😏

Edward Cullen
Age - over 90 changed when he was 17
((For sake of RP playing him 18/20 though))
Species - Vampire
About : born as Edward Anthony Mason Jr on June 20th, 1901 in Chicago. Edward is the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, along with his adoptive brother and sisters; Alice, Emmett, Rosalie and Jasper. Edward nearly died of the Spanish influenza in 1918 when Carlisle saved him by changing him into a vampire. Over the next 90 years they bother gathered a family of vampires that considered themselves to be ‘vegetarians’ as they refused to drink human blood and only fed on animals. Once Edward was changed into a vampire he became telepathic and can read minds of those around him.
Before Edward was turned into a vampire he was a very talented pianist, his relationship with his father was rather distant as his father was a very busy lawyer. Edward was closer with his mother as he was her world. Edward always wanted to join the army once he had turned 18 but of course that never came to be when his family caught the Spanish influenza, his father was first to die and then his mother. Before she died she begged their doctor Carlisle to do whatever he could to save Edward from death. After Carlisle converted Edward, Edward formed a deep bond Carlisle and saw him as the father figure he never had.
Version 1 - so, obviously Edward eventually falls in love with Bella the human and we know the rest, heart flutters but for the sake of roleplay and creative ability I’ll be playing him before that and slightly different but still very much to his canon character. Just because it means I can be a little more flexible and not have to stick to what happens in the books/movies. Unless stated otherwise ! This will be the version I play most just because I mostly want to have fun with this character I adore hehe. He still lives with his family and their way of life is definitely how I’m going to play him unless we are doing some kind of alternative universe ~
Version 2 - I will play sometimes, this will be more accurate to after the movies and books so he’s married to Bella and has Renesme etc. I will only play this version unless asked or if I fancy some cute vampire fluff that wasn’t given to me by the movies haha!
Side note - so of course because Edward can read minds I will only use it sparsely and I’ll ask you first as I don’t want it to seem god modding or anything! He only reads minds if he wants to anyway so don’t feel he will know everything.

Thanks for the tag! I only joined to fandom in September, so I haven't been here or done anything for to long haha
Also @cheriboms thanks for the tag as well, I was already working on this reblog when you tagged me whoops.
1. Twice....I swear TV never shows it- *starts crying*
2. No, but I want some!
3. I am not a fan of 90 percent of soda, including Pepsi! Nor do I like sugar free stuff...
4. 'Cause I Might Not Make It Back
Look, guys. I love the amnesia trope. Young Emmett and Marty is amazing. This is two birds with one stone.
5. YOU WANT ME TO DECIDE?????
Okay, for humor reasons:
For content reasons:
For awesome looking reasons:
6. Yes sir! I have several incomplete/abandoned fanfics so the only one I've posted is Doctober 2023, but I learned so much from that!
As for art I have done several, but my favorite one has to be this:
Tumblr media
7. Zero times 😎
8. Uhhh, see I never recognize actors so if I did I didn't know lol
9. Ok so we got a new car and we were testing it's Bluetooth and we used my playlist. Power of Love came on and Dad was like "Huey Lewis? Wow." And I was just like "I have some random things on here-" ;-;
10. Idk, I don't count that haha, but def a good amount. But I did just fall yesterday on top of my cousin hehe.
11. So I didn't GO see it cause it's across the country. However I found an uhm...another way to watch it.
Needless to say AAAAAAAA ITS AMAZING! All of Marty's little quirks are there and hilarious! Little details about his and Doc's friendship are so adorable! Everyone plays their character perfectly! Awesome songs! 10/10!
12. Funny thing. This question made me realize I have no clue how my parents met. I know they met in collage...and that's it. Whoops.
13. "Silence, Earthling!"
14. Run in the rain- Yes! Marching season overlaps monsoon season so once or twice we were forced to run with our instruments in a panic out of the rain (because there's lightning near and we need to get back inside)
Pull an all nighter- Literally pulled my first all nighter 2 days ago! Me and my cousins swore we wouldn't sleep. The youngest failed at 4 but me and the oldest made it past sunrise at 7 am. She then literally passed out and I got bored so I went to sleep for 3 hours.
Read Science Fiction- Yup!
Drive thru Burger King- Didn't do drive thru, but walked in. Fun story, me and my friends just came back from a comic-con so we all walked in full cosplay! We gave the employees a laugh, especially when the one dressed as Michel Myers came in first with no context haha.
15. I dunno! I have a lot of things ahead of me, but I'm trying not to stress too hard. I'm just going to go with the flow.
Not gonna tag anyone here as a lot have already done this and I'm doing this last minute. But if you want to do it, go right ahead!
BTTF Year-End Tag Game!
This year:
How many times would you guess you watched the first back to the future movie?
Did you get any sweet bttf merch? If so, what!

holy eff, that was 2 years ago? im so sorry, im absolutely unaware of the passage of time XD but yep! that's me! it wasn't very hard to find you tbh, i went to overlord tag one day and i found your art. this time i simply searched for demiurge and was pleasantly surprised that you changed your blog again (more like returned to your old one but yeah). don't worry tho, no need to hide from me! im a good anon, and a person you knew quite good (and also a person who, i think, triggered you once? with some depressing themes. im so deeply sorry for that) glad to hear you have everything under control now! but im more glad that you're enjoying yourself and grow the fandom. overlord is really amazing, both anime and light novel (that's it, if i ever decide to watch the new season or catch up with the novel). you did a very fine choice, dear, to get into it! (and, especially, to get into demiurge hehe) don't mention it truly! i've been wondering for a few weeks now how you're doing and all. and i'm really, really happy to see you're enjoying yourself and having fun.
I also wanted to say that, uh, i know how ac fandom treated you and please take no offence, but, i really appreciate that you didn't delete the responds to people's asks or the gifts that are ac themed. i know it wasn't an easy choice, and i really appreciate it. it sounds stupid but it means a lot as it brought some pleasant memories. so, yeah, thanks for that! <3 (also: your emmett is forever in our hearts) i hope you won't mind me being here from time to time (and not like, appearing after 2 years XD). you were always so lovely to talk to! you still are, of course, but yeah! lovely to talk to and you're lovely too! as always <3 - P
LOL to be fair, I think the pandemic really threw us all for a loop. X”D Heck, it being 2022 hasn't really come to my realization yet. I still keep thinking 2020 was just last year.
Haha, that is very fair. ♥ If you were able to hunt through the Demiurge tag, that is indeed where I kinda live now. ♥ Though I am working more and more on drifting my version of him out of the fandom and into my original works. But we'll see! I do love the character a lot!
Oof, I gotta be honest, anon. My memory got a bit scattered no thanks to anemia causing me a bit of brain fog/damage. So if you did anything that triggered me, it's quite alright. ♥ I've obviously gone past whatever may have happened now, and it is all water under the bridge as they say.
I adore Overlord, but my poor Albedo and Demiurge... I wish they were given more time to develop. ;~; They are my treasures next to Yuri Alpha. ♥ But I do hope you enjoy the new season! I love the animation has really been upped in quality! I'm still eagerly waiting for the movie!
Thank you! I have a lovely group of readers and friends who support me like yourself, and I appreciate every single one of them. I especially love the readers who have been with me since the AC days. The fact you guys will still follow me from one thing to the next is sweet, and I am always happy to see reoccurring names pop up now and again!
I will be honest, hon, in that I did delete a few things in my desire to heal away from the fandom years back, but not all of it is gone, no. ♥ The Fall is still on AO3, I just removed my name from it, and the Prostitute Series, while removed from AO3, is still on here too. I know those were the main stories people would have been upset to be removed from the net completely. I do still have the others on my hard drive (like certain love letters and The Dove Effect, Daddy Dearest, etc), but I just don't feel comfortable releasing them again to the public. Maybe one day. ♥
Aww, thank you! I actually did plan on bringing Emmett back into a Victorian setting but away from AC: S. ♥ I had a werewolf story in London kinda idea that I wanted him to be apart of, so he will return just—in a new way and away from Jacob being his dad. (He's gonna have an adopted dad/mentor instead.)
Awww, I adore when folks drop in to say hi every now and again! I still get people DMing me saying 'thank you for writing this super old fic from 2005' ever so often, and it's great! I hope people never think it's weird or annoying to talk to me about old times or just say hello. I promise, it's okay to do so. ♥
It's kind of why I never really ever change my name or at least, try not to. ♥ I want it to be easier for folks to find me.
It's always great to hear from you, anon! ♥

dumb bitch remember to do the small horror au of feral bella hunting for that super sweet anon or i will hide the switch from u
please no!! also to that anon, i am so sorry it took me forever hehe! i hope u manage to find this post <3
My newly immortal mind was spacious but not spacious enough. Spacious in that many thoughts raced through my head instantaneously, pieces of my mind devoted to the beauty of Edward’s astounding, mesmeric face, the surprising loveliness of the dust motes whirling down my throat in a delicious vortex, the starbursts of wonderfully saturated color – eight color rainbows consisting of a mysterious color I’d never seen before – radiating from the lights above and even glinting off of Alice’s brilliant pearly smile. I could think all of this and more. And yet, even with all of the extra room for these distractions, it was not enough to save my mind from the complete, violent consumption of one important thought, the most important thought ever.
Thirst.
The pain of transformation hadn’t vanished. Rather, the fire raged on, desiccating my throat in scorching flames.
My hand fluttered to my throat so fast as if the skin there would be blackened and smoky. Part of me – my mind seemed to be fractured into a million impossibly cohesive pieces, like a puzzle – was briefly distracted by the incomprehensible velocity in which I moved and the velvety texture of my new soft skin, but the thoughts were still easily overpowered.
Suddenly, nothing else mattered.
My new abundantly loving family, anxiously watching me, waiting for my next move, ready to protect me from others and even from myself, no longer mattered.
Edward, the love of my life, the soul I’d die for without a breath of hesitation, no longer mattered.
Renesmee, the sweet, little otherworldly baby I’d fought so hard to protect, no longer mattered.
The burn raging inside me, devouring every trace of who I once was in its relentless blaze, was the only thing that mattered. The only thing that would ever matter.
I was an inferno. Insane, wild with thirst, and dangerously out of control.
Edward’s magnificent golden eyes widened with shock as Alice opened her mouth to cry out a warning, but before the sound could escape her mouth, Jasper protectively pushed her behind his tall frame as I crashed through the large glass window that separated me from the forest.
The glass shattered in a shrill shriek, and as I flew through the air towards the ground, I could see every shard glittering in the sun, barreling out from the explosion in a shockingly beautiful dance down to the various shades of green. I barely paid any attention to Alice’s words finally escaping her mouth, Esme’s cry to Edward, nor the whistling of wind as someone followed closely behind me, jumping down from the now broken window too.
Inaudibly, I landed on my feet, shut my eyes, and inhaled deeply. I could smell everything. Honey, sap, something like freshly baked bread, evergreens, water lilies, lavender, pine, spruce, moss, vanilla, eucalyptus, grass, cinnamon, rain. And something else... Something sweet and warm and slightly off, but not enough to deter the way it sent my mind spiraling into incoherence. My eyes snapped open as venom pooled in my mouth, and though I could hear the soft, nearly silent landing of three pairs of feet behind me, I cared little to consider defense now, my mind too focused on finding the source of that wonderful smell...
As I crouched down, ready to launch myself forward, I sensed the presence behind me in much closer proximity. Just as I decided to turn around and fight off the threat, both of my arms were grasped in massive, steel-like hands. A feral, earsplitting scream of a growl erupted from my chest as the ache in my throat furiously throbbed, desperate to be rid of the obstacles barricading me from the mouthwatering scent.
My head whipped back and forth painfully in exasperated impatience, and rabidly, I tried to pull free.
“I got her,” Emmett’s deep voice boomed from beside me. “Rose, take Renesmee out of there! Take her away from here!” Jasper shouted from the other side.
Their grips on my arms were impossible to escape, but I continued to thrash, caring little about who I could potentially hurt.
“Bella, my love, you can’t go in there...” a soft, beautiful voice murmured to me. Edward materialized before me, the astonishing topaz of his eyes like smoldering, melting pots of gold. His statuesque face was intense and urgent as he pleaded with me, searching my face for some sign of familiarity.
And a very small part of me longed to reach for him, to surrender my body to Jasper and Emmett’s defense.
But that part of me didn’t matter.
“Bella...?” Edward’s gentle voice asked again as my eyes frantically searched and scanned for a way out of their grasp.
But there was no longer Bella, no longer his Bella.
Only the wild, bloodthirsty, out of control newborn.

Edward Cullen
Tumblr media
Age - over 90 changed when he was 17
((For sake of RP playing him 18 though))
Version 1 - so, obviously Edward eventually falls in love with Bella the human and we know the rest, *heart flutters* but for the sake of roleplay and creative ability I’ll be playing him before that and slightly different but still very much to his canon character.
Side note - so of course because Edward can read minds I will only use it sparsely and I'll ask you first as I don’t want it to seem god modding or anything! He only reads minds if he wants to anyway so don’t feel he will know everything.
I will be tagging his posts with FrozenTouchThreads

So far, Cyril has garnered the most suspicion from those that tried out the demo (I don’t blame them, but I still find it funny hehe)
Red Wolf Hiding progress update under cut!
(11/12/17) Currently working on writing the common route which I decided to make twice as long because I wanted to balance out the serious moments with some fun ones.
Just finished writing out Kent and Emmett being a bit of dorks (the latter being a rather big one actually)
The next victims are Cyril and Beau!
Also so far, all the choices greatly affect the events following it before the story reconverges. Hopefully this will make playing it for each guy more enjoyable :’D
For those interested in statistics:
I’ve added an additional 5.1k to the 8.9k from the NEET prologue demo, so the game currently stands at 14k and with only the common route roughly 1/4 written out so far.

01. AN IMPOSSIBILITY
i stumbled upon a post you can read here from @bellasredchevy from like a year ago where she expanded on an au where bella & edward switch places where bella is a vampire in the cullen family and edward is a human. we’re all social distancing (or we all SHOULD be unless u have work so if ur out partying take ur ass home boo) so i had time to kill & i thought i’d write a chapter hehe.
It was an impossibility for me to have missed the presence of my adopted brother entering the room. What with my astute senses, my supernatural sensitivity to everything – the microscopic details of the book page’s porous beige paper, the length of his shadow stretching onto the floor beneath the novel in my hands, cast from the golden light of the hallway, the smooth, feathery finish of the paper under my frozen fingers, the whooshing sound of air caressing his mountainous stature as he appeared, the soft yet heavy thud of his feet against the floor – a sound nearly imperceptible, the impossible to place scent of something like bergamot, white cedar, rose, and sandalwood perfuming the room at his appearance. An impossibility, and yet, my focus was so invested in the words inked on the page, enamored with a story I’d read a hundred, a thousand, a million times, that I found myself shocked when the novel surprisingly ripped down the spine into two perfect halves before my eyes, another one of my novels that he had plucked off the shelf barreling towards my face. He had thrown the other book with such force that in the process of his attempt to grasp my attention, he knifehand-striked a book I had taken from my mother Renee’s sad little toilet-reading, bathroom basket collection of a library.
I was on my feet hunched towards him infinitesimally, the book that had been less than a centimeter from crashing into my face tenderly clutched in my right hand, my lips pulled back over my teeth to let out a snarl. The right half of the original novel I had held fell onto the floor with a thump a moment later. He stood crouched as well, a wicked smile spread on his lips, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He loved provocation – eliciting this kind of response in me fueled him. A fight with some authentic irritation, a fight with an edge.
“Time for school, baby sister,” He raised an eyebrow, inviting the challenge.
“Emmett,” I hissed through my teeth, tensed to launch myself at him. Part of my mind sifted through a dozen plans of attack, strategizing what would be my most successful method of taking him down since he was pretty much insurmountable. He had all the strength and all the size. Stealth would be my greatest chance. Another part of my mind pulsed with irritation, an irrational, furious mood swing sweeping over me. The kind of emotional response only our kind could experience...or handle. I nearly saw red as the rest of the words flew through my lips. “Couldn’t you have told me that without destroying a priceless artifact of my human life, big brother?”
I made the name sound like a curse word.
“Artifact?” Emmett snorted. “Please. How many times have you read that same damn story in the past few years? I did you a favor,” he smirked as he feigned right and left so fast that it was as if he hadn’t moved at all.
I tensed to hurl myself forward at the opportune moment before a tsunami tide of calmness washed over the room along with an earthy aroma of citrus, patchouli, musk, and leather. “We really should be leaving now,” my other adopted brother Jasper murmured in his lightly southern accent as he appeared.
“Restricting as it may be, vehicles only allow up to a certain speed, and Esme wouldn’t like for us to be late,” my tiny sister materialized by his side in a blur of porcelain skin and inky black hair. “Although, maybe she’d get a kick out of a call home for tardiness,” Alice laughed, a sound like windchimes. “I can tell you who would have won or you could have your fight later.”
“Ugh,” Emmett groaned in disappointment, dropping his stance. “It’s so hard to get her that riled up. Fuck!” He complained, grumpily disappearing from the room in a flash.
“Later,” He promised under his breath from the garage.
“You would have won,” Alice mouthed, her beautiful lips stretching into a secretive smile as she winked. She picked up the other half of the novel I had purposefully dropped to catch the meteor Emmet had propelled, tossing it in the air towards me in one fluid motion.
I grinned to myself, gently tucked the other book back into its rightful place on the shelf across the room, and caught the ruined piece before it hit the ground. My face immediately dropped into a frown as I analyzed both halves. Fortunately, Pride and Prejudice was not beyond repair. I could mend the division by sewing it back together down the spine later. I set the injured book down and flew downstairs not a moment later. As I passed my adopted mother on the way to the door, I pecked her on the cheek before exiting the house and sliding into the dark leather backseat of the pearly white car next to Alice. Without checking the mirrors, Rosalie sped out of the garage as soon as the door lifted enough for us to clear.
The trees outside the windows were a green haze as we flew by, our speed only decreasing when we arrived in the main part of town among other drivers. We could have ran to school much, much faster – and thus not had any concern about tardiness – but without our cars for appearance, our show might prove unconvincing. It wasn’t abnormal to walk to school in the unrelenting pouring of rain in our small town of Forks, Washington. However, though few people in town knew the location of our home, perhaps the front office ladies might find it concerning that a group of teenagers trekked a half marathon to their classes. It was unlikely they’d care to look up the address from our files, but we were never too cautious.
I liked running. I had been characterized as very clumsy in my human life, so it was a welcome change to feel graceful and coordinated. It was a welcome change to feel powerful. It was, however, unwelcome to participate in the daily charade of masquerading as exactly the opposite of that. As much as I had enjoyed my afterlife, I loathed the same thing many teenagers did, a hatred that may be my greatest commonality with the humans that surrounded me.
High school. I didn’t mind school prior to my immortal life. I had been decent and even above-average in most subjects. I had been a responsible, diligent, and quiet seventeen year old: I paid attention, I completed assignments in time, I spent most of my time in solitude which allowed me ample time to study. There were subjects I enjoyed far more than others that kept things interesting enough for me. Unfortunately, after a number of graduations, high school lost any potential interest and became something of a purgatory. Even classes like English lost their charm over time. Once you had spent years studying literature from the greatest professors, scholars, and writers both living and dead, it was immensely rare for a small town high school English teacher to offer a new take that would make my attendance worthwhile.
Attending high school provided us with the opportunity to remain in one place longer, so complain as much as I want, I suppose it’s something to fill the endless amounts of time. Still, that didn’t make the obligation any more tolerable.
Rosalie hummed along to a song playing quietly through the speakers while Emmett sulked in the passenger seat over having missed out on a fight. I smiled, a bit smug. On the other side of Alice occupying the middle seat, I sensed Jasper’s head jerk slightly in my direction to see the expression that reflected my slight change in mood. I shook my head, still smiling, and he smirked a bit himself before returning his attention back to his window. His scarred hand traced affectionate circles onto Alice’s hand in her lap, and she stared forward, her unfocused eyes seeing not what was in front of her, but the potential realities of the future.
They were a gifted couple. We become immensely enhanced when we’re transformed from being human, and as a result, some immortals are equipped with a special gift on top of their already unparalleled supernatural senses. Our creator and father figure Carlisle theorized that our strongest traits from our human life develop in even stronger ways once we’ve been changed. Jasper’s influential nature flourished into a skill of sensing and manipulating the emotional climate of those around him. Alice’s gift was even more unique. She could see into the future. We didn’t know what in her human life this had developed from. Her past is a secret to not only us, but Alice as well.
I too was gifted. For some time, we had no idea until I had met our cousins. In Denali, Alaska, there was another coven similar to us not just in kind but in diet and ideology who we considered extended family. Another commonality we share is that they also have gifted immortals among their coven. One of the only males, Eleazar’s, gift was sensing the abilities of other vampires, and he had detected my ability. He revealed, to all of our surprise, that I was something called a mental shield. It’s a talent of blocking out any powers that could invade my mind, and it is absolutely, entirely useless to me. I didn’t have a need for this kind of protection. My gift was a complete waste.
The drizzling rain was picking up into a steadier shower as we pulled into the small parking lot of Forks High School. Scenting the earthy, fresh stormy air was the tempting fragrance of the students’ pulsing blood as they ran for the dry cover of the maroon brick buildings. I was entirely satiated from my most recent hunt. Still, my throat burned with the slight dryness that would never completely go away. Jasper sighed.
There were only a few late stragglers hurrying from their vehicles towards their classes that could potentially see us, but as Rosalie parked, we moved at the frustratingly slow pace of the humans around us as a precaution. No risks. After exiting the car, Alice tossed me my backpack of useless school material from the trunk. I slid one strap over my shoulder and departed from my siblings for my first class.
The rest of the morning dragged along like a slow, drawn out sigh. I spent most of the time in my classes thinking of ways I could reorganize the book shelves in my room again. By genre, by author name, by theme, by year published, by year the story takes place, by favorite author, by alphabetical order of the location the story was set, by date of author’s death, by favorite to least favorite protagonist, by which accumulated the most pieces of literary criticism, by section that each family member might enjoy the most, by order in which I first read each, by order of which I read most to least, by order of which my family had read most to least, by alphabetical order of the antagonist’s name, and by which was least to most realistic were all ways I had structured my personal library in the past few years. I was toying with the idea of organizing by order of the birthday of the first character introduced, but a lot of the birthdays had not been established throughout the plot. I would have to decide where they would fit throughout the year based on which zodiac sign I might consider them to have depending on their character traits. Not that I held much stock in astrology – horoscopes did me no good when I had a future-telling sister.
The only difference in this day than any other day was that the trivial gossip I unintentionally overheard throughout the hallways concerned a new addition to the student body. This stirred up a lot of interest seeing as the majority of the children here knew each other for the entirety of their lives. What I had gathered in passing was that it was a junior boy named Edward Masen from Chicago who had recently moved from living abroad with his family. The girls were very excited – they considered him a very attractive potential new love interest. Attractive, though those who had been brave enough to speak to him found him to be impenetrable despite his charm. I wondered what the boy would make of me and my family.
I joined my siblings at our lunch table, the farthest table from everybody else in the room. In front of each of us was the prop of a lunch tray piled with unappetizing food. Alice sat, staring forward with empty eyes again, living in her own ever-changing reality. Jasper and Emmett made a hacky sack out of an apple and subtly kicked it back and forth in the air beneath the table, the apple moving too fast for human eyes to detect. Rose twirled a piece of her golden hair around in her hands, disinterested. Her thoughts were clearly elsewhere. As were all of ours. Occasionally she participated in their game by intercepting the apple with her foot.
“The new student’s going to ask about us in approximately fifteen seconds,” Alice chirped, her face returning to the present.
Emmett chuckled quietly.
“What will be said, and how will the boy respond?” Rosalie asked, her foot sending the apple reeling toward the ceiling.
Alice caught the apple in her slender, white hand before tossing it back to Emmett to end the game. “No different than anything else that’s been said, and no different than anybody else.”
I scanned the cafeteria to find the new student, so I could place a face to the upcoming conversation I’d be listening in on.
My eyes locked with a pair of soft green eyes set in a pale, angular face beneath an untidy mess of strange bronze hair. I looked away immediately but caught the beginning jolt of shock lighting up those surprisingly wise eyes.
“Who are they?” The boy gasped. So it had been my gaze that brought Alice’s vision to life. No doubt he’d immediately recognize the subtle differences that distinguish our kind from his. Emmett and I exchanged a glance, laughing under our breath as another junior student I recognized as Naomi Parker provided the common knowledge of the strange Cullen children. The story was complicated. In Forks, the explanation for our family was that Carlisle had adopted his twin niece and nephew, Rosalie and Jasper Hale, after the unexpected passing of his much older half-brother. Similarly, after a tragic car accident took the lives of Esme’s parents in addition to her aunt and uncle, she took in her younger siblings, Emmett and I, along with her niece Alice to look after us. Bonding over the shared experience of so much responsibility so young, Carlisle and Esme eloped, and we formed one giant, misshapen family.
Instinctively, I caught the apple in my hand just as it nearly turned into applesauce by means of collision with my stone face. I snarled at Emmett’s hysteric expression, hiding my hand from view so that anyone watching would have missed the entire catch. “Would you quit doing that today!?”
Rosalie shot Emmett a disapproving look. He shouldn’t be so irresponsible when we were clearly on display for the new Masen kid. I shot a minute glance towards his table to make sure they were no longer watching us. The boy seemed to be focused on the information he was receiving.
“This,” I snarled, sneakily disintegrating the apple into a pulp in my hand below the table where the humans couldn’t see, “will be what happens to you at home.” I made a show of letting the mush slide off my hand onto my tray.
My brother guffawed, and my other siblings joined in the laughter.
“In your dreams!”
I couldn’t help but laugh as well. I also couldn’t help but feel the intensity of watching eyes.
“Who’s the girl with the really long dark hair?” The soft, low voice of the boy asked quietly from across the room.
Reflexively, my eyes met his stare once again. He looked away quickly.
“That’s Bella. She’s insanely beautiful obviously, but if you’re thinking about trying to talk to her, forget it,” Naomi shrugged.
Once lunchtime was over, we disbanded to head off to the last half of yet another monotonous day. On my way out of the cafeteria, I purposely bumped into the trash can for Emmett’s benefit as he and Rose followed close behind. The action was a little more violent than I intended, and the plastic container bent slightly at the force.
“Oops,” I bit my lip to keep from smiling as he erupted into laughter. Upon our move to Forks, it had become something of a joke between Emmett and I for me to feign clumsiness. I didn’t participate in this joke daily, but every once in a while I’d sprinkle in an elaborate fall for his sake.
When I reached my junior level Biology class, I settled into my seat at the lab table I shared with no one. I laid the books devoid of any information relevant to me out on the table, and propped an elbow on the surface to hold my head up in my hand, awaiting the oncoming tedium.
The room filled as students returned from lunch. I paid them no attention, my eyes fixated on counting the snow-like particles of chalk dust floating in the air likely from Mr. Molina writing on the board prior to the end of lunch.
“Ah, welcome, Mr. Masen! We’re so glad to have you join us. You can take the seat next to Miss Cullen,” I looked up to find the biology teacher pointing in my direction. Next to him was the new boy. Standing up, he appeared very lanky – several inches taller than our teacher – though his physique was still slightly muscular.
I pulled the books closer to my side of the table to make room for him, feeling bad that he had the misfortune of being assigned the seat next to me. He would probably feel more comfortable anywhere else. Not only because I didn’t go out of my way to interact much with my classmates, but because their long-buried survival instincts told them what their brains didn’t totally understand: we were dangerous.
I had never been more dangerous than I was in that moment. Because after the Masen kid politely thanked the teacher, he turned down the aisle, directly in front of the heated airflow that blew towards me.
His scent washed over me like the most vicious, violent wave, a wall of unrelenting water in a heavy thunderstorm in the middle of the ocean, drowning me, taking me down, down, down, further and further away from the traces of humanity I had once clung to.
In every direction of this blackest of depths, there was no escape that could lead me back to the light; I resurfaced as the monster I pretended not to be.
The sweet enticing smell of Edward Masen’s blood compelled my throat to rupture into a burning, aching fire. I had never been ablaze with such need. My mouth was pooling with venom as my prey approached. Since he spoke, he had only taken another step forward. He would not take another.
As my muscles begged for the release that would send me springing forward, stealing the first life of my existence, those sage eyes glanced at me, widening in bewilderment at the vicious expression contorting my features.
With great difficulty, I emerged from my horrible, repulsive compulsion. The look on his face was enough to spare him another moment.
His scent perfumed the air around me; I was encompassed in this irresistable cloud of bloodlust, eager to leap up and put an end to this unexpected torture.
In all my years of immortality, I had never experienced a desire this overwhelming. I had never been so vulnerable to committing this kind of atrocity. My record was clean. With guidance, I had been able to restrain myself from the temptation of human blood. Of course, instinct is not easily fought. Sometimes the abstinence was painful. But never like this.
A dozen scenarios on how to kill this poor human boy crossed my mind, and I combatted every single one with the last miserable shred of self control I had left. I had never exerted so much effort. The toil was something hazily reminiscent of human exhaustion, weighing heavily onto me.
I had no choice but to end his life. There was no other way.
He awkwardly settled into the seat next to me, aware of some unknown hostility, but unaware of the ferocity raging within, unaware of the way his blood sang to me, inviting me in, inviting me to betray all my years of discipline, effort, and tolerance. Inviting me to betray my family.
Despite the absolute consumption, by some miracle, I resisted.
I desperately clung to the thought of my family. Rosalie. Esme. Carlisle. Alice. Emmett. Jasper.
They loved me. They would forgive me for this detestable, inexorable act. They would understand. They wouldn’t harbor any judgment.
But how could I let them down in this way? Everything about who we are, everything about what unites us and bonds us is intricately traced back to the compassion that rules over our lives. It’s what makes us different from others of our kind. It’s what allows us to retain some remnants of the humanity we’ve lost. So just as I’ve done before, I would withstand human blood now. No matter the agony that accompanies the resistance.
I took one last deep breath. The scent washed down my throat, burning me alive from the inside out.
I wouldn’t dare to breath for the next torturous hour. It was uncomfortable to forgo the sensation, but the consequences that would follow if I did breathe had far worse implications.
Could I last that long? What was I trying to prove? Was the possibility of a lapse in the best of my judgment worth not succumbing to the honest truth – that I had more weakness in the face of human blood than I thought?
Perhaps Emmett might make fun of me. Perhaps Jasper might secretly appreciate someone else struggling more than he did. But Carlisle and Esme wouldn’t see any weakness in leaving. They’d be proud of me for making this decision. They’d understand.
The last of the students were arriving from lunchtime. Now was the greatest opportunity to escape without drawing too much attention. In my peripheral, I saw the boy open his mouth to begin to speak to me.
If I didn’t leave now, I never would. My resolve was slipping away with every thud of the boy’s heart.
I got up and walked to the front of the classroom a little too fast.
“Mr. Molina?” I asked, my voice tight. The biology teacher looked up from a lesson plan he was reviewing, his eyes startled as he registered my face. I heard his heartbeat pick up from the surprise.
“I’m feeling a little... unwell. May I be excused?” I utilized the last of my breath, hoping the subtle begging in my voice didn’t prompt more questions.
Mr. Molina recollected himself, his eyebrows pulling together in slight concern along with confusion. The Cullens were never sick.
“Of course, Miss Cullen. Do you need a nurse’s pass-” He began before I cut him off, resentfully taking another tormenting breath. The scent sent my mind reeling. I fought for coherency in my thoughts.
I didn’t need to work to put on a show; I probably looked pale and sick enough.
“No thank you,” I spoke quickly, desperate for the relief of fresh, untainted air.
“Alright, then. I hope you feel better-” I was out of the room before he could finish the rest of the statement. The bell for class rang. The hallways were empty, so I risked the charade and began to move at an inhuman speed around the corner. Only when I had exited the building did I allow myself to breathe again. I gasped, nearly choking on the mouthfuls of clean air when I reached the car. My head was still spinning as I climbed into the drivers’ seat. I gave little thought to worrying if my quick movements in the classroom would reveal too much. I hoped that the students were too focused on finishing up their leftover conversations from lunch to notice.
With a jolt, I realized I was not alone in the car. In the passenger seat sat my tiny sister.
“Bella?” She asked, her pitch-black eyes unable to convey the concern that was etched on the rest of her pixie-like features.
“Alice,” I breathed. I had been so distracted with my own thoughts I hadn’t even paid any attention to the proximity of the familiar vanilla and jasmine fragrance of her skin. What was wrong with me today?
“Are you alright? I saw…”
I winced, knowing what she must have seen.
“I’m fine. I just… I-... I don’t know what happened…” The words flew rapidly out of my mouth.
“Do you need help? Should I grab the boys? Or would you like to leave-”
“No! No. It’s really not...a big deal. I’m just going to… I promise I’m fine. I won’t go back there-” I gulped, the venom filling my mouth as I even considered returning to the class where he sat. Alice’s eyes widened, so I stopped the thought in its tracks. “Rosalie has a free period right now. I think I’ll go find her. I’ll see you when school is over.”
I reached for the door, turning away from her, shame filling me, making me unwilling to face her any longer. Her slender hand grabbed my other wrist, pulling me to a stop. “I’ll come with you.”
“Don’t. I’m fine, Alice!” I pulled my hand away too defensively. Regret replaced the shame for a moment. “Sorry.”
I left her alone in the car, feeling guilty.
I knew it was risky to utilize my sense of smell, but following the sweet, warm aroma of orange blossom, marshmallow, and roses – and avoiding anywhere remotely near the science wing – I found my other sister alone in an empty classroom. Now that it had been distinguished from the rest, I could still smell the boy, but with more distance between us, I fought the temptation off.
“You’re not in class?” She asked as she typed into a computer, her back turned to me. It looked as though she was searching for some car parts. Even though I helped her in the garage sometimes, after all these years I was still no better at identifying anything related to automobiles.
“Rose...” I began, before stopping short, unsure of what to say.
She turned around in an indiscernible millisecond, her breathtaking face worried at the tone of my voice. “What’s wrong?”
She reached for me consolingly. Though I didn’t need the rest – I could stand still for hours on end and never feel tired – I sat on the floor beside her chair, hugging my knees to my chest, my eyes fixated on the dust deep in the roots of the rough, outdated carpet.
Her silky hands smoothly brushed through my hair, patiently waiting for me to build up the courage to speak. It felt nice.
After a few seconds, she spoke up. “Bella, you’re worrying me.”
I sighed.
“I’ve never...struggled this way before,” I admitted, exasperated with myself.
I could see that she was nodding out of the corner of my eye, immediately understanding. “That’s nothing to be ashamed about, Bella.”
I didn’t need to see her face to know her perfect lips were set into a deep frown. She wasn’t lying to me, but I knew to her, this existence was everything to be ashamed about.
“I won’t pretend that I don’t find myself...repulsed with...well, what we are. That’s no secret to anyone.” Her musical laughter had a dark edge to it. “But I’ve spent enough time for all of us hating myself for the impulses we have and the tragedy of our existence. You needn’t be so hard on yourself. It’s alright to...” She trailed off, selecting different words. “We’ve chosen an abnormal path in this non-life of ours. The terrible consequences of what we are are normal” – her hands froze in my hair briefly saying the word – “so try to let go of the shame I know you’re feeling, though I don’t blame you for feeling that way.”
She paused for a moment before adding, “you know we won’t allow you to harm anyone.”
I bit down on my lower lip. I was glad I came to Rosalie. She didn’t think I was being overdramatic the way Emmett might have.
Though I deeply loved my mother from my human life, there hadn’t been much maternal guidance. We had a strong bond, but I was far more of the caretaker than she was. I had been very lucky in this immortal life. Esme treated me as her own daughter, and I became truly taken care of. Just as Esme became the most loving mother figure in all the ways that counted, Rosalie became the very best protective older sister. My life had no shortage of supportive femininity and womanhood.
I heard a springy, featherlight approach of fast footsteps.
“I told you not to follow me,” I grumbled.
Alice poked her tongue out at me as she entered the room and fluttered to my other side, joining my other sister in stroking my head. “You’ll forgive me. I didn’t want to be left out of a sister moment.”
Her words brought half a smile to my face.
I closed my eyes, allowing myself to be comforted by Rosalie’s words and the soft feeling of my sisters’ hands in my hair.
Yes, it was undeniable what I was. I could never change the fact. But I could change the fate of this boy, and I could deny myself the instincts that identified me this way. I could deny myself Edward Masen.
