putting pretty pink bows in Jasper's hair
Great minds think alike because I was already drafting this.
Bows//Jasper W. Hale
Jasper Whitlock-Hale x gn!reader.
Fluff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A soft hum leaves the vampire's body, the sensation of your gentle fingers on his hair was always welcomed. His favorite thing to do is lie down in your stomach and let you play with his hair.
"Can I braid your hair, cowboy?" You asked softly, Jasper nods and closes his eyes, you placed your plushie on his lap, he hugged your My Melody closed while you fetched your little basket with things for brushing his hair.
You returned and sat behind him, using a pillow to make yourself taller because otherwise you can't reach him.
The vampire smiled softly as the sensation of your fingers returned.
He felt some water being sprayed on his hair.
"Your hair is so long now." You speak softly, Jasper hums in agreement as he feels you sectioning his hair.
"I was thinkin' of cuttin' it." He speaks back with the same soft tone.
"Don't ever think that again." You speak with urgency, the vampire chuckles at your comment.
"You really like my long hair, sugar." He mumbles as your hands start to braid one side.
"Well...yes." You said with a pang of shyness on your voice.
"....you...look really hot y'know." You mumbled under your breath, Jasper chuckled as his enhanced hearing caught that.
"Hot, eh?" He teases with a smirk, you tug his hair playfully, a small warmness filling your cheeks, the vampire smiles at your almost childlike reaction.
"I'm just teasing you, darlin' don't get all red.." He teases again with the following chuckle. You pouted as your cheeks were burning.
You kept braiding his hair. You finish the first braid, one of your hands goes digging into your basket for a hair tie when your fingers feel your ribbons.
You smirked and wrapped a hair tie and smoothly clipped the ribbon on his braid. You suppressed a squeak, the pink ribbon on Jasper's golden hair looks so adorable. The vampire hears the small chuckles but he only smirks and decides not to comment on it.
After a couple of minutes the second braid, and ribbon, were done.
"Some spray to make it last." You spoke softly and sprayed his hair with hair spray, unknowingly to him it had glitter in it. You chuckled excited.
"You look so handsome." You smiled. Jasper turned around and looked at you with a smirk. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pressed a kiss on your lips.
"I bet I do. Thank you, sugar." He spoke softly. You smiled and kiss his cheek. You stretched to fetch your tumbler and felt the ice jiggling together with no water on it.
You looked back at Jasper with puppy eyes. He takes the cup from your hands and kisses your forehead.
"Tsk, tsk, you don't even say please anymore, sweetheart." He shakes his head in disappointment. You giggled.
"Please, cowboy, can you bring me some water?" You smiled and pressed another kiss on his cheek.
"Sure, sweetheart." He spoke softly and pulled away from you. You just smiled widely as you saw the pink ribbons dangling on his braids and the glitter shining on his hair.
Jasper walked downstairs with your cup. Emmet was sitting on the couch of the living room.
"Nice bows, bro." His brother chuckled, that made the blonde stop. His pale hand touches his hair, feeling the bows on his hair. The vampire wanted to rip them away but decided against it.
You put them on, they're staying. A soft smile painted on his lips. He fills your cup and returns upstairs.
"Darling." He calls for you as he enters back into his room. You immediately start chuckling, he smiles at the sight of you, curled in his blankets, holding a plushie tight while you giggle.
"Yes, cowboy?" You speak through your giggles, he places the cup down and leans to wrap his arms around him.
"You put bows on my hair. I look like a doll." He speaks softly.
"You look cute!" You giggle, the vampire chuckled and buried his face on your neck. His cold lips placing soft kisses along the side of your neck.
You took your phone and snapped some discrete pictures of him, his hair glittering and those bows all cute in his hair.
At least he didn't notice the glitter. Yet.

Ok, fnaf submas idea(maybe)
Now, i cant remember if you said something about a train chase scene between the twins and the player or not but if you didn’t then that is what i am proposing.
How i imagine it going is at first the player/gregory is taking the train to some new area that’s been unlocked with the twins having been a neutral party throughout most of the game until now or freddy mentioning them and helping gregory reach them to unlock fast travel(with little train stops here there that have been found across gameplay)
And upon the first encounter the twins become hacked and attack gregory as the train is going with you the player racing to get the conductor car with the twins following in suit behind you quickly (either rushing at you on their two feet or that really creepy bent-backward crawl on their hands and feet and their heads turned[360 turning capabilities?] in order to accommodate that position)
Once you get to the front car you then have control of the train and veer it onto an unfinished track, freddy contacts you and sets up some type of like bomb or something, you somehow escape the train before it crashes leaving the twins to scream metallically (and somehow fearfully) into the trash area. Fast travel is still accessible, you just don’t have the twins there to manually run the train, its on autopilot now until you get them back up.
Alternatively, if one them catch you, you either get fucking decked/punched to death (one punch only shown) or suffocated. Gruesome yes but i imagine afton getting real fuckin sick of the player at this point and commands animatronics to kill on sight no matter what.
And depending on who you find first they will either follow you around the trash dump(Ingo after you get him a battery) or head straight to the nearest train station to wait for you(Emmet).
Once they’ve been reunited you take em to the repair area, find a few leftover parts and fix em up as much as you can. Ingo’s voicebox still has that unnatural, glitchy, autotuned baritone and Emmet still twitches(he twitched and sputtered a lot before the repair, a result of his fall) here there due to faulty wiring/coding that would require an engineer and coder to fix fully, not a child. That and the parts were a little outdated.
Oh man I'm eating good today!! Thank you so much for that plot idea. I'm having a lot of fun juggling that around in my brain!
Some of that I already sorta used in previous fnaf AU pieces.
Like crashing the train into the trash dump and befriending the twins again after finding them down there.
or
Using the train as a means of fast travel to make navigation easier but with a catch.
But you mentioned that the twins are neutral at first, but the first time you actually encounter them they'll attack? Will they be a mystery at first then? Like you only ever see a portion of them from the back? Freddy would probably insist they'd be such nice fellows, like he does with music man. I wonder what would move him to place a bomb in order to blow them up. Maybe the train crashing off tracks and the fragile pizza plex floor might even be enough to doom them.
I do love the idea of them just straight up punching Gregory to death upon sight as their jumpscare. Just unrestrained violence. And you know those guys have the Newtons to crush an adult skull! Suffocation might be even creepier I think. Just their manic eyes staring you down, hands around your throat at your vision goes dark. As if they were simply putting you to sleep.

Can I request hcs for submas, cyrus nanu and larry where they have to leave for a long time on a trip or something? When they come back they accidently walk in on their s/o snuggling their clothes or putting on their cologne because they missed them so much. 🥺🥺🥺 Thank you if you decide to take this request!!
cw: fluff, comfort(?) kinda
characters: Ingo, Emmet, Cyrus, Larry, Nanu
▲Ingo▼
● The trip had been a surprise for the both of you. Business trips were not common at all. In fact, Ingo struggled to recall a time that they had occurred at all. But, somehow, it happened. An invitation by another battle facility to come learn and observe. A Battle Tower, off in Sinnoh. While part of him had wanted to say no, Emmet clearly was excited to explore the prospect, so it was challenging to deny the trip. That would leave the Battle Subway closed for a while, but the experience simply might improve their battle styles and make them more enjoyable for their patrons. So, the difficult time came to say goodbye to you. The hug was a long one marked alongside a sweet kiss. He promised to return in two weeks, but it truly did almost feel like forever. Your heart hurt to see him go, yet this was his brother and his interest and talent.
● The time spent separated was mostly boring. Nothing really happened around the home, especially since Ingo's and Emmet's pokemon were not around to play into their usual antics. It was quiet. It was routine. You did pop in to check on the station a few times, as Ingo had requested. Calls between you both were frequent, which kept you appeased for the most part. Yet… Loneliness and desperation began to creep into your mind. You missed Ingo. A lot. One of his uniform coats caught your attention one evening. The distant smell of his cologne and coffee… Perhaps a small odour from Garbodor and a sulphur smell from Chandelure. But, all of that made it so distinctly him. Clutching it to your body as you laid down, you could almost convince yourself that it was him.
● It became a new part of your temporary routine to cuddle with the coat when you missed Ingo. Occasionally, you even laid it out beside you on the couch to pretend that you were watching television with him or just sitting around with him. It was definitely a bit odd, but you felt that any form of comfort was better than just staring at your phone waiting for a reply from him. Though, you had lost track of the dates as the day of Ingo's return had come. You were once again holding the coat and sighing at the fading scent. The sound of the door opening barely registered with you. Ingo had entered with his bags, wanting to surprise you a bit. Instead, he caught sight of you clutching his coat to you rightly.
● “Dearest…” he called out, bewildered and flustered. Had you missed him truly that much? Something in him felt distressed about having left you for so long. He knew how jittery he got being away from Emmet for extended periods, but he had not even registered that the same might be true for you. Clearly, it should have been obvious as he had missed you, too. The coat, however, was dropped at the sound of his voice. Suddenly, you were running towards him to bury your face into his nape. The scent you had been relying on for comfort hit you hard. His warmth accompanied it as he caught you and embraced you back. “I'm here,” Ingo reassured you, “I'm here now…”
The image of you cuddling his coat remains a fixture in his mind as he goes through his daily schedule for weeks following. He finds himself entranced that you simply loved him that much.
▽Emmet△
○ The Subway Boss never had taken a business trip, admittedly. While he had travelled, certainly, the was almost always on his own time and something that you easily join him on. This time, however, it was a request by another battle facility to attempt a learning opportunity by training with other heads. He and Ingo almost felt it impossible to decline. Powerful trainers were their favourite things, after all. Though, mostly Emmet enjoyed winning over anything else. He agreed instantly without realising how it might impact you. Honestly, he was surprised to realise that you could not tag along. At one point, the twin even got a bit huffy over it before ultimately accepting it. His parting from you was filled with tight hugs and many kisses. Ingo probably had to pull him from you because he was simply being so clingy. You could only wave goodbye to the twin as he was pulled towards their beloathed airport to travel to another region.
○ Your time spent separated from Emmet was quite dull. Usually, the younger twin would fill your days with his silly antics or have you around the station with him. Loneliness was not exactly an issue with all the friends that he had left behind, but they understood your plight quite well. Your train man was missed dearly. His cute smile as he greeted you in the morning, all his affections that he just endlessly presented you with, and how he seemed ready to keep you involved in everything. It was little wonder you picked up his work coat and buried your face into it. Something sugary lingered in the scent mixed in with something like ozone and light spritz of cologne. The Joltiks seemed to surround you as you cuddled with the coat. It was enough to appease you for now.
○ The coat was something you found yourself coming back to in the following days. It was a simple comfort that reminded you of your sweet Emmy. If you were not cuddling with the coat, the Joltiks seems to take residence in it as well. They missed him just as much as you did, it appeared. Sleeping with it at night almost drew a similar feeling to Emmet cuddled up beside you or having it near made you feel as though he were. It was a better way to manage your feelings rather than hanging out by the phone waiting for any sign of life from your boyfriend. Slowly, however, you did lose track of time as the day of his return had come at long last. He threw open the door happily, ready to snatch you into a hug and be near you for a long while. Instead, he found you napping on his coat on the couch.
○ Emmet stared at your adorable sleeping face for a moment before gently waking you up. “Darling… I am back,” he cooed when you opened your bleary eyes. You rubbed them and yawned. Then suddenly jolted at the sight of him. He giggled when you wrapped your arms around him and buried your face into his nape. It was only natural to embrace you back. The coat entered his mind. Had you missed him that much? His heart hurt. Oh, his poor darling! You laughed at how his kisses tickled you. “You must have been verrrry lonely,” he spoke softly, “I am sorry! I am back!” The coat was forgotten as your real Emmet gave you all the affection you could ever want.
You cuddling with his coat stayed on his mind for a long while. The both of you had done many things with his coat, but somehow that was his favourite. You were simply too cute for him at times.
🌌Cyrus🛰
☄️ Business trips were not necessarily uncommon for Cyrus. He had a few sporadically throughout the year to meet with various business partners and discuss shared projects and other deals. Those tended only to be a few days at most, usually. However, a rare trip came up related to a foreign business partner wishing to discuss a possible device more in depth and have him work on development in house rather than on his own in Sinnoh. Cyrus typically would have declined such a request, hating being at the behest of others, yet he accepted. A possibility of gaining information for his more secretive project was simply too much to pass on. Unfortunately, that would mean you would be unable to join him. Your obvious upset over this was haunting as he attempted to say goodbye. You clung to him and asked why you could not come again. He awkwardly had to shake you off and give a lame explanation.
☄️ Truthfully, Cyrus being away on a business trip was not that different from your usual day to day with him. He was always busy and often did not return home until much too late at night. But, the few days he did arrive back at a reasonable hour kept you from feeling to unloved. Now, however, there was not a chance of that occurring. Phone calls were rare, as he was so busy. They did happen at least every three days, but loneliness truly began to eat away at you. Moments where you would wake up late at night to see the blue-haired man in bed with you did not happen any more either. It was little wonder that you found his tablet in his office and began to cling to it. The device almost felt like a small piece of him. When you thought of him at home, you thought of him and the device in his hand.
☄️ It was a strange comfort, certainly. The days were passed by with the tablet near you. The lock screen was his company's emblem, but you could pretend it was Cyrus in a way. Talking to it unconsciously as you might the man himself, you seemed to find small peace. It was something to let you pretend he was around. You even found yourself holding it to you in bed. Time began to pass as you unconsciously lost track of the days. The day of Cyrus's return had come finally, and he unlocked the door of your apartment entirely ready to rest after the mess of endless work and flight back to Sinnoh. Instead, he heard you talking to someone when he entered. Soft, tender, and loving words were spoken as his heart seemed to freeze. He stepped in quietly, needing to see whatever was happening with his own eyes. The sight he was greeted with was more bizarre.
☄️ You held his tablet in your hands while sitting on the couch and watching television. No one else was around. Then he heard you call the tablet his name. “… Beloved?” he finally called out to you, filled with a rare worry. Your eyes went big as the tablet was quickly abandoned. Rushing over to him, you linked your arms around him tightly and babbled out his name over and over again. He let his hand come to comb your hair with his fingers. Your hold was inescapable. How much had you missed him? You even had started speaking to his tablet like it was him, apparently. Cyrus grasped your chin to have you make eye contact with him. He had neglected your needs again. “I'm here now. We should… spend time together. It has been far too long.” Your embrace grew even tighter somehow.
The image of you clinging to his tablet and speaking to it as if it were him taunts him as he holds the very device. It was his fault that you had ended up in such a state, and he entirely intended to stop that from reoccurring.
💼Larry🏢
🍙 Business trips were a common occurrence with Larry. He was an overworked salaryman, after all. Geeta him sent him all over and seemed to intend to keep him busy no matter what. You usually did not accompany on his trips, but they were usually only a few days or just a day trip. This, however, was rare for both him and you. Nearly two weeks out for negotiations with a far off pokemon league. He was not going to decline, even if he clearly viewed it as too much of a hassle. The salaryman had apologised a few times to you. It was unfortunately just part of life for him. His goodbye was a quick peck to your cheek and hug. He politely bid farewell before disappearing onto a plane.
🍙 Truthfully, the days were not so different with Larry gone. He was often away for long hours, being pulled back and forth by his duties as both an Elite Four member and Gym Leader. But, evenings were frequently spent with the man. Sometimes you would nap with him before dinner or cuddle up with him while watching a some random show. That was not happening now. You found yourself oddly lonely when the sun began to set and looking for anything that would remind you of the man. His cologne was an unexpected find. The familiar smell seemed to ease the burden of loneliness almost instantly.
🍙 It became a common thing to spritz on some of the cologne when you began to feel lonely during the later parts of the days. The small change really did alleviate a lot of your previous upset. A simple sniff of your shirt could take you back to using Larry's chest as a pillow. Then, you could almost feel his lazy hold around your waist. It was far too comforting. The days began to pass unconsciously until Larry's arrival back finally came. He walked into your shared home to smell of you cooking something. His shoes were quickly taken off and his bags temporarily dropped and forgotten. Arms came behind you from behind as you stirred around a frying pan. Larry's head rested on your shoulder. An oddly familiar scent, however, entered his nostrils now.
🍙 He was still for a few moments while you greeted him. The food was put back to cool while you hugged him properly. Larry's mind was solely on that smell, however. “… Is that my cologne?” he finally asked, thinking he figured it out. You grew flustered by his words. He blinked. That was it? The scent was not a bad one, he supposed, but he did not really think it was your taste. Before he could offer to buy you a bottle, you explained how you had been using it. His heart raced for a moment. That was… oddly sweet. He felt bad for making you feel that way, though. “I'm here now,” Larry reassured you, “… I doubt I'll be sent off like that again for a while.” He might actually complain to Geeta about it, seeing as you had been hurt by the length of time he had spent away.
Something about you wearing his cologne stays on his mind for a while. It oddly made him feel a rare kind of smug. His scent had been on you and brought you comfort.
🐈‍⬛️Nanu❤️‍🩹
🌑 The old man was retired, so there was absolutely no reason for him to be going anywhere for an extended amount of time. That, and his duties as a Kahuna kept him bound to Ula'Ula and Alola until he dropped dead. Though, apparently Looker had gone through far too much effort to get the old man on a mission that was too much work for him alone. Even if he wanted to decline on behalf of his duties, the agent had already asked the Tapu if he could leave for a period of time. It had been agreed to. He was truly amazed. His intention had still been to say no, yet Looker convinced him it was of utmost importance. Nanu finally grumbled and agreed. His goodbye was a short one, clearly not one for getting overly emotional. A simple kiss to your lips and a warm hug before he messed up your hair. He promised that he would try to be back earlier if he could.
🌑 It was strange being in the Po town police station without him. His Meowths looked at you as if you were crazy while you cared for them and slept alone on Nanu's couch-bed situation. His computer was free use for you, but you felt lonely. Sure, the Meowth cuddled and demanded attention, but you missed napping on the Kahuna. His gentle heartbeat echoing in your ears while you nodded off. Now, you were left to sporadic eerie rains and meows. Picking up one of his discarded uniform jackets, you slipped it on and sighed. A distant smell of smoke and coffee came from it and made you feel almost like Nanu himself was embracing you. The comfort was immense enough for you to nap easily in the clothing piece.
🌑 The jacket became a staple in your attire as you hung around the station. It almost made you feel as if Nanu were there with you. Of course, he was clearly not, or the Meowth would not be crying as they were for your attention, but it was something small to give you relief. You had even found yourself laying it across the pillow when you slept to help feel like you were cuddling the old man. The days seemed to pass on without recognition until a certain day arrived. Nanu opened the door of the station, relieved to have actually finished that mission early. He tensed up at the sight of you watching something on his computer while bundled up in one of his spare jackets. His hand came to scratch the back of his head.
🌑 “I'm back,” he announced as he tried to avoid the horde of Meowth at his feet. Your attention left the screen. Then, you rushed over and nearly tackled him. Nanu caught you with unexpected strength and sighed. You clung to him tightly. Your face was buried into the nape of his neck. He rubbed your back and shook his head. Had you really missed a dreg like him this much? You must have been wearing that jacket as a comfort. Now he felt bad. “... Sorry for taking so long, Looker was making some annoying mistakes,” he sighed and brought his red eyes to meet your own, “You good for a nap?” They only sparkled in reply.
The image of you wearing his jacket became a favourite one. It actually suited you quite well, he felt. Or maybe he was taking a note from his Meowths' books about scenting.

i'm so excited for this mod, i just picked up stardew on sale just for it! i love already seeing little joltik hop around in town until the main mod is ready
I'm happy you like seeing the little Joltik! It'll be a while until then but even I still smile seeing submas walk around (partially because that means their schedules don't have issues that I need to debug but shhhh). They're so silly.
Speaking of schedules, I followed them around after getting screenshots of the station bundles because I was just so amused at how Ingo greets everyone he sees (he's too friendly!!!!!!!!!).
It was a Tuesday so that means that he and Emmet did errands together as a two-car train and Emmet would always be in Ingo's line of sight. He just kept going HELLO, EMMET! GOOD MORNING, EMMET! HELLO! GOOD AFTERNOON, EMMET! all day while Emmet goes Hi, Ingo. Hello. about 5 times out of 30. Ingo can be a bit obnoxious. I'm keeping that in. Submas can annoy each other on a daily basis.

Give me your best pitch on why I should ship coppernauts.
I think Benny would be one of the most accepting people to the cops when they switched sides. Emmet of course too, but when scribble cop allowed Benny to build a spaceship I feel like that moment between them was likely more impactful on Benny then any other interaction with the others, which i feel like would strive him to befriend the cops. And Benny is a huge positive force which bad cop would (at first) not like, but gradually get use to and be fond of. The cops can also keep Benny grounded when he gets too excited, which Benny will probably need in some scenarios. With Benny’s help, the cops can feel more at ease in his new found place after Takos Tuesday, and Benny could use a friend that can keep him down to earth as well as let him be excited and build. The ship can also be a parallel (kind of) to Lucy and Emmet. Emmet fell in love at first sight while Lucy took a while to warm up to him, which can be similar to coppernauts (the best part about it is most likely they wouldn’t realize they’re in love). It kind of patches the bridge (metaphorically) between the master builders and those who worked with business, just like how emmet and Lucy’s relationship (can’t remember the ship name) bridged the gap between regular people and the master builders. It wouldn’t just be good for fun, but it can have a lot of benefits to stories lines that could’ve happened after the first movie if the second movie didn’t happen. The relationship could prevent the cops from going back to their ways (which they would never do, but still) or hiding from the others (which would be more likely to happen), and it could prevent Benny from being swept under the rug as just the 80s something spaceman who is obsessed with space ships. Not only that but, the tropes for the relationship also makes sense in the grand scheme of the Lego movie’s tropes. (ie, guy falling for a cool girl who has a douche boyfriend, who leaves her boyfriend and goes with the guy that makes her feel like she can be herself with him, the ‘veteran’ who is old and grizzled and doesn’t believe in the hero’s cause, but actually does and comes back to save him, the wise old mentor who is strange compared to what is the standard of the world, etc.) An excitable sunshine blue character who comes from the hero side, and a grumpy moon red character who is a former antagonist fits right into the “cliche but is really not a cliche because of (insert genius writing that subverts the audiences expectations)” pattern of tropes that the Lego movies commonly use.
Coppernauts (whether platonic or not) is a very good relationship that helps build on character growth, recognizement, and story development. :)

Binging the Eldritch Submas for that sweet sweet fluff with a dash of nervousness and not-quite-understanding-but-eager-to-learn-about-humanity monster content. 👌👌👌 That's the good stuff right there.
It's been said and written many times before that the twins tend to leak their true forms when flustered/in love/~spicy times~ happen, but could the same also be said when they're angered? Not annoyance or impatience, or "Gods not this twat again", but actual, unbridled pissed off anger.
Scenarios abound because brainrot real.
Emmet happens across a small group of onlookers while doing his rounds, curious to what caused the gathering. Lo and behold, Darling is there, dealing with a rude patron. He goes in to take care of it, but gets a front row seat to a sucker punch at Darling. He can feel his form starting to split as he not-so-gently shoves the attacker back towards the other Depot Agents, barely holding it together as he gives orders. When they leave and the gathering is ushered on their ways, he briskly leaves to the employee only areas, away from humanity's sight. Darling follows in concern, knowing that Emmets is barely held together with only force and will, and finds him cracking out of his human shape. Both travel to his office away from prying eyes, where Darling thankfully manages to convince him to not kill/erase the attacker or to not cause grevious harm, and comforts him with care and reaffirmations.
Ingo and Darling are in the tunnels for safety checks and maintinence, Darling on lights while Ingo's on the tracks. The light to their left's alright, the second one just started, when rapidly approaching footsteps catch their ears. Darling looks down in time to see a trio of troublemakers approaching before their ladder gives way with a shove. The world is alight with pain and stars in the air when they collide with the railing. When the world is clear again, they hear retreating footsteps and screams fading to the distance, and can feel the darkness surrounding them. Ingo's form is cracking, threatening to swallow the tunnel (perhaps beyond) with the little that's already out. Darling pushes up off the track, and Ingo is instantly next to them, focusing on them with the troublemakers pushed out of mind. His upper face is stuck in shadows with a few too many silver eyes, and is hugged all the same. Legs having turned to jelly, Darling is swept up by Ingo and carried down the tunnel. Reaffirmations carry down the tunnel softly as the pair travel down.
Put it under spoiler tag 'cause is long ^^
Emmet didn't bother walking, in truth. He took a step forward, and his destination became a far closer than a single mortal stride ever would take him.
An unruly passenger. Someone whose heart was overtaken by anger, over what? A train running late? A missing pass? What silly things to be so upset over.
They would have far more pressing concerns soon enough.
"…and FUCK you!"
"Please, Sir, I'm just following procedure- We can replace your pass, but I need to see your I.D-"
Oh?
The sound of your voice surprised and alarmed him- Weren't you on break?
And the way that mortal spoke to you-
"Out of my way." Emmet demanded, briskly moving towards the sound of your voice and across the clusters of customers and would-be passengers in front of him.
All that mattered was you-
"For the last fucking time, I ain't showing you shit-"
"I'm going to have to ask you to leave, sir. You're causing a disturbance-"
"Like hell I am! I'll cause as much of a disturbance as I want!"
You sighed heavily, trying your best to maintain your composure. Though to be fair- Would Emmet and Ingo even punish you if you didn't? Given how they treated you now, and especially now that you knew- Or well, sort of knew- What they were, they'd probably think it very endearing-
"…All because YOU won't do your fucking job!"
You shook your head, looking around, and barely paying attention to the insults being hurled at you- Few customers were watching, and fewer still were even in the area. You'd already called Gear Station Security, and all that was left was to wait the few minutes it would take for them to arrive. One way or another, this man wouldn't be getting a free pass, or even another ride on the train. How unfortunate. Not.
And then you heard a familiar clicking of heels. Not like the any of your coworkers walked, but a strange rhythmic, distinctive clicking- Of a man who was more like a oricorio then any human.
But who really wasn't a human at all, was he?
"Oh, Emme-!" You shouted, gesturing for him to come over- Anyone to deal with this slimeball- But your words faltered, looking at the glint of venomous ire in his eyes.
"Fucking pay attention-!"
And out of the corner of your eye, you saw the man approach- And specifically you saw his fist.
And closed your eyes, turning your head away in anticipation of the blow- That connected with your face, but far lighter than you'd thought he'd strike-
"What the- fucking-"
"Oh my. Someone isn't following proper safety procedures."
You turned to see not your attacker, but Emmet- Standing between you and the customer, holding their fist in his own hand-
Crack.
"Fucking- OW!"
The man winced, and Emmet kicked his legs out from under him- Still holding his clenched hand.
"Shut up." He continued, his voice as icy and dead as seemingly possible-
"Who the fuck-"
"I said. Shut up." Emmet repeated.
The man opened his mouth to speak- And nothing came out. His frame trembling, his eyes wide-
"Sir!"
"We're so sorry, we were responding-"
Your coworkers- And two security guards- Stopped when they saw you, lying on the ground with a slowly blooming bruise on your cheek- And their awe-inspiring Lord and Master holding down the worm had injured you.
"Em-Emmet-"
Emmet's attention lingered on the man a moment more before he shoved him backwards- Falling down to your side.
"My poor love-" "Are you alright?"
"It's- It's just a bruise, it'll heal-" You spoke carefully. If you made too light of it, they wouldn't pay attention to your words- If you made it too serious, they wouldn't be as merciful as you were trying to train them to be.
His smile was pained as his silver eyes scrutinized the blemish on your face. His hand caressed the corner of your face, squishing your cheek and making you wince. His eyes narrowed.
"You've been hurt." He remarked. Yes, you wanted to say, but that doesn't mean you need to erase this guy-
You pushed his hand away, making him flinch. "I'm fine, Emmet." You retorted. He opened his mouth to protest, but decided against it, turning his attention to the Depot Agents behind you.
"Ramses. Remove this man. He is not allowed in Gear Station. Or any station for that matter. Ever again. You three. Assist him."
Ramses nodded, and the rest of the depot agents followed his orders- And Emmet picked you up, dusting you off.
"You alright?" Ramses asked. He may not have been a particular kind Agent, but he wasn't apathetic, either- And the bruise on your cheek was turning an awful shade of reddish-brown, and rather quickly.
"I- I'm really okay, that was just a bit of a shock, really."
Emmet grabbed your shoulder tighter. His mouth split open again, but no voice came out.
"Emmet." You warned, noticing the dangerously bright glint in his slit-like pupils. His gaze turned back to you.
"Daaarling…" he pouted. "Fine. You need medical attention. Come with me."
"Wait-"
But he would not listen to your protests, and in a flurry of movement you were in the back hallways of Gear Station being lead away with your beloved, most likely towards a med station or something-
"Emmet," You began, trying to get his attention.
He kept walking, drumming his free hand against his lips- His mouth wordlessly opening and closing.
"Emmet-"
His stare intensified down the hallway, his pace picking up as he muttered to himself in a voice quite unlike the voice of Station Master Emmet. "He shouldn't be ali-"
"EMMET!" You raised your own voice, grabbing his arm with your free hand.
Emmet stopped walking, looking at you out of the corner of his eye.
"…Yes?" He finally answered.
"I- …I'm okay. You already banned the guy from Gear Station, you don't need to do anything else." You explained. "I'm okay."
His grip on your hand tightened.
"But that man hurt you."
You sighed. "Y-Yes he did, but that doesn't mean he deserves death."
Emmet's head tilted away from you. "He deserves worse-"
You shook your head, squeezing his hand back. "No, he really doesn't."
You continued on. "You don't need to react so strongly, Emmet- Yes, that guy did something bad, but- He's going to suffer enough being banned from the Subway, don't you think? Look at me."
He shook his head.
"Emmet… Please look at me."
"…No."
You looked down at his hand. One, two, three… Four, five, six- Seven- fingers? Clothed like the glove, but different.
"I don't mind what you look like." You offered. "You have extra fingers on your hand right now, you know."
He tried to pull his hand away. You held on. "All that means to me is I have more hand to hold. And I'm not letting go."
You squeezed it harder. "You were really cool back there, you know."
His body relaxed. Oh?
"It was thanks to you that this bruise wasn't worse. And it was super cool how you leapt out to save me. And how you grabbed his hand. And you shut him up just by intimidating him."
The face of your beloved began turning towards you.
"I'm so glad to have such a wonderfully strong boss who works so hard to protect me."
You leaned against him. "And I'm very glad you listened to me,"
"So won't you please look at me?"
Emmet turned his face to you- His smile pursed, his eyes- Cracking. Like dried up, ancient plaster, revealing a shadowy shape underneath- His mouth came open a little bit, the maw darkened within- His sideburns giving way to feathers and fur and silky-shimmering-ribbons of white and silver. His pupils were slits, glowing with the smallest hint of light- Yet still bright enough to make the lights of the hall seem dim and dull in comparison. You grabbed his cheek, holding his face in front of you.
"L-Love," He stuttered out, as you rubbed the corners of his cracked face.
"Shh. You've done good, Emmet." You remarked, gently tracing the edge of the visible feathers- They were soft, and cool and warm and perfect to touch. Your hand shivered as you brushed them, and he closed his eyes gently and slowly, watching you the whole time.
"You did good. Thank you."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Stay close to me," Ingo ordered. You nodded quietly and cautiously, and Ingo's arm went around your shoulders, pulling you close to him.
"We don't know what exactly is down here- You wanted to see what it might be?"
"…Yes." You nodded again, looking up at the Subway Boss. Despite the darkness, his silver eyes shone brighter than the light around you. It was frightening- The tunnels of the Subway were dark, twisting- And ever-shifting and ever-turning. Ever since you learnt the truth of your bosses, you'd learned the truth of Gear Station too- And how the tunnels were constently the subject of attacks from… Other things.
And your curiosity got the better of you.
You wanted to see these Other things, if you could. Besides, if Ingo and Emmet were as powerful as they said they were, resassuring you that you would never be hurt by those Other Things- Would it be such a problem if you wanted to encounter one? Especially with them to protect you.
Ingo wrapped his arm around you, even tighter. "I won't let you go."
You hugged him back.
The two of you walked carefully in the dark tunnels- Your footsteps clicking, yet not echoing- The light illuminating the edges of the tunnels seemed dimmed, somehow- Offset by the brightness of the fire-lights of Ingo's dear chandelure, floating around the two of you in contentment as it moved back and forth around the tunnel.
You stayed mostly silent, listening carefully as you approached the strange sound, echoing down the halls of the Subway Tunnel. It only grew louder and louder, a horrible screechy-groaning-grinding sound that reverberated in your ears and left them ringing. Ingo grabbed you harder, stepping forward- His silver eyes blinked slowly under the brim of his hat, less like a blink and more as though he were paying attention to something-
"Ah." He remarked- And you turned your head up to him, tilting your head curiously. "A T-junction is stuck, it seems. …I don't believe it's anything… Supernatural, my dear."
"You can tell all that, just from closing your eyes a second?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.
"…I can tell you anything I like about these tunnels, my Love." He drummed his hand along your shoulder, making you shiver. "Here, let us deal with that racket, first. It must hurt your ears."
You nodded, and the two of you approached the problem area, rounding the corner to see the T-junction beam bent out of shape, and several of the tunnel lights humming and flickering-
"Hmm." Ingo noted. "I'll handle the rail. Will you take a look at the lights?" You nodded in response, already rolling up your sleeves. The lights didn't seem to be out, but were certainly behaving strangely- No doubt due to some Joltiks having themselves a feast, you guessed.
Ingo hopped down over the railing of the maintenance trail and you settled in front of the circuit box for the lights, and- Yup, chewed through, frayed wires. Nothing a little electrical tape, and a few replacement wires, wouldn't fix, you were certain. You couldn't help but turn to Ingo while you taped some of the exposed bits up- Ever curious as to what he was doing. He looked down at the bent, twisted rail, grinding against itself, and suddenly it was engulfed in shadows- And a loud clunk and bang later, the shadows unraveled, and the rail was- Fine. Better than fine- It looked brand new.
You were about to ask him what exactly he'd done, when suddenly you heard a shuffling in the darkness of the tunnel- And you turned your head to see a large, heavy thing rapidly moving towards you- Falling on top of you. A ladder. What was a ladder doing here?
Ingo heard your yelp in surprise, and you flinched, unable to move.
"Holy shit-" "Bolt!" "Go!"
The impact never came.
"Are you alright?"
You opened your eyes nervously- The ladder that had been threatening to squish you like a wurmple was nowhere to be seen. Instead, Ingo was holding you. Tightly.
"A monster-!" "Holy fucking shit-"
You craned your neck to see the shadows of- Teens. Of course. Bolting their way up an access ladder back into a street above the tunnel, where sunlight poured down- But was blocked by a shadowy shape, reaching out into the rays, almost looking like they pulled at the light- Covering the walls and undulating like a living mass of darkness- Which is what it was, wasn't it?
"Darling?"
You turned your head to look at Ingo again- A shadowy figure dripping with darkness, with silver lights of eyes looking down at your figure. You felt the cold, smooth tentacles wrapping around your skin and cradling you tightly.
"I-I- I think I'm okay," You breathed heavily, feeling your heart beginning to settle from the shock. The shadowy figure picked you up, cradling you tightly against his chest-
"Y-You're a lot larger like this," You remarked. "All the better to protect you, my Dear." He purred back. "I would hate to think about what might have happened had you been injured…"
"Thank- Thank you, Ingo."
Your boss-turned-Sweetheart-turned-inhuman-monster cuddled you tighter. "Let us return to the safety of Gear Station… I would feel better if you were there, especially to recover…"
And off he went, carrying you- Settling back into a more human form, silvery-eyes looking at you from out of the darkness, closing the moment you made eye contact with them. "You're cute like this."
Ingo stopped for a second, the eyes shutting around him as the ones on his face widened. "W-What? What do you mean?"
"Your eyes. They're pretty. Like starlight. And your shadows, they're very comforting-" And you craned your neck, kissing him on the cheek-
"But not as comforting as having such a protective sweetheart like you around, Ingo."
"I- I-"
You almost giggled at how flustered he sounded, stuttering out words as his fingers dug into your sides where he carried you- And other hands grabbed, holding you tightly.
"That- That is, it would be- Expected, I would think-"
"Expected or not, thank you for protecting me, Love."
He took a deep breath. "Of course, My love." He gripped you even tighter- Almost painfully so. "Be a little cautious with your words," He breathed out, his voice strangely calm. "I have quite little patience when it comes to being so tormented by your affections, My dear."
You could feel a blush spreading across your face- And if there was any light left in the tunnels, you would've been able to see that Ingo had much the same across his own human features.

Novembmas day 15: Dragons / Happiness
Emmet smiles a little more honestly when the door to the large house opens and Drayden immediately pulls him into a crushing hug. The man who raised him always gives the best hugs and he allows himself to melt into it after only a momentary hesitation.
A deep voice rumbles through him. “It’s good to see you, Emmet.”
He laughs. “It has only been a week, Uncle.”
“I know. But it’s always good to see you.”
Emmet just nods as they break apart and head inside. He knows he would have said the same thing before, but there’s another meaning layered beneath the sentiment now. Now, he can’t quite hide the relief  that he’s here at all. That he too hasn’t vanished off the face of the planet.
He shakes himself and focuses on what his uncle is saying. “All your Pokémon are free to roam as usual. Make yourself at home. You can stay as long as you want.”
He smiles softly. “I only have a week off work, but thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He hesitates, but pushes forward a moment later. “You can take more time if you need to. No one would blame you.”
Emmet shakes his head. “It’s alright. A week is more than enough time away from the subway.”
That earns him a laugh. “Fair enough. Just keep it in mind, please.”
“I will.”
He heads upstairs, where he drops off his bag in his and Ingo’s old room. He doesn’t stay there long, not wanting to get drawn into reminiscence. That won’t lead anywhere good. Instead, he goes back down the stairs and out the door. He releases all of his and Ingo’s Pokémon on the grass in front of the house.
They all know the place well and don’t hesitate to disperse. When Drayden’s team come out from behind the house to investigate the commotion, they take barely a second to greet each other before they start to play. He sits next to a tree to watch.
It isn’t long before his uncle’s old Haxorus breaks away from the group to sit next to him. He’s getting old and the play is probably a bit too rough for his liking. He rests his chin atop Emmet’s head and wraps his tail around him like he would do when they were children. Emmet just laughs and scratches the spot under his blades that he knows he likes.
They remain like that for some time. Long enough that Drayden comes looking for him. He laughs at the sight of them, then again when Ingo’s Haxorus immediately darts out of the pack of wrestling Pokémon and beelines for him. She wraps her arms around him, carefully tipping her head up so her blades are away from his face. Her tail thumps the ground heavily in excitement.
When she lets go of him, he rubs the top of her head. “Hello to you, too. I’m glad you seem to be doing well.”
She whines softly and leans her head into his hand. She is doing better, but Emmet knows she’s struggling with the loss of her trainer just like he is. Even so, whenever he offers to let her stay with Drayden, she refuses.
His uncle sits beside him, opposite his dragon, and Haxorus leans against his side. Drayden lays an arm over his shoulder.
Emmet leans against him, happy to soak up the comfort even if neither of them want to address the reason it’s necessary. “Thank you, Uncle.”
He just holds him a little tighter. “You’re very welcome, Emmet.”
Ingo answers a knock at the door to his tent with some confusion, not expecting any visitors today. He laughs when he takes in the sight awaiting him. Rei and his Garchomp are standing there, both covered head to toe in mud.
Before he can say anything, Rei says, “I promise we’re fine, Uncle! He holds up a pokeball. “And I caught the Alpha Goodra above the Ancient Quarry!”
Ingo laughs again. “Which explains the mud, at least.”
His nephew gives his own, much more sheepish laugh. “Yeah. I was hoping, well…”
“Come on.” He grabs his coat and hat and pulls them on. “I’ll help you get cleaned up.”
“Thanks!”
He goes back inside to grab a spare set of clothes as well as soap and a towel, both of which he throws into a basket. Outside, he picks up a bucket, a washboard, and a stiff brush from beside his tent, then leads the way out to the Lonely Spring.
He hands the basket and washboard to Rei and points to a hidden spot around an outcropping of rock. “I trust you can manage?”
He gives another sheepish laugh. “Yeah. Thanks.” He glances at Garchomp. “Be good and do what Uncle Ingo tells you.”
She huffs and eyes Ingo, but nods.
The boy smiles. “If you’re good, I’ll give you treats later.” Apparently trusting that to be incentive enough, he jogs off to clean himself up.
Ingo waits until he’s gone, then rounds on the dragon. “Are you going to get in the spring on your own?”
She looks between the spring and him and huffs, then sits down.
He sighs. “That’s what I thought.” He flicks the latch on one of his pokeball. “Tangrowth, if you would please?”
His partner doesn’t hesitate, wrapping Garchomp in vines before she can move. Despite the immediate thrashing, she also doesn’t hesitate to drag the other Pokémon into the water. Ingo takes off his boots and follows, wading into the frigid water up to his knees and watching until Garchomp accepts her fate and stops thrashing.
When Tangrowth releases her, she glares at him but doesn’t move. His partner wades farther into the water, seemingly enjoying her own impromptu bath. At least someone is happy. Ingo approaches Garchomp with his brush. “Good girl. If you hold still and let me scrub you, you can get out of the water sooner.”
She grumbles, but doesn’t attempt to escape as he sets to work. The mud is caked over every inch of her and he has to scrub quite hard to get it out from under her scales. That, at least, she seems to enjoy, her grumbles slowly turning into something more like purrs over time.
The behavior, from the initial refusal to the eventual enjoyment of the activity, feels familiar. As he continues to scrub, his mind wanders. He wonders if he had a similar partner at some point. He has always had a soft spot for the dragon. Maybe there’s a reason.
“Uncle Ingo?”
Ingo jumps and whips around to see Rei watching him with a raised eyebrow. He’s wearing a Pearl Clan tunic now and carrying a basket full of wet, but clean, clothes.
“Are you alright? You were kinda spacing out.” He gestures to his partner. “Garchomp seems to be enjoying it, but I think she’s clean, you can probably stop scrubbing.”
Ingo shakes his head in an effort to clear it and looks at the dragon. She is, in fact, quite clean. Apparently, he did a good job on autopilot, which only lends credence to the theory that he’s done something like this before. He nods. “Right. Garchomp, you can get out of the spring now.”
It doesn’t take her even a second to launch herself back to dry land. She splashes Ingo in the process and Rei laughs. When she shakes off, spraying water all over her trainer, it’s Ingo’s turn to laugh.
He heads back to shore and scoops up his boots, shivering as the wind cuts through his wet clothes. “Why don’t we head back to my tent and warm up?”
Rei hugs him, not apparently bothered that it makes him wetter than he already is. “That sounds great, Uncle. Thank you.”
Ingo wraps an arm around his shoulders and they walk back toward the tent that way. “You’re very welcome, Rei.”

so. came up with an interesting Fnaf au that i'm calling "Different Path."
long story short, it's based off a simple premise. with a few basic rules for myself added in :]
premise: everything added to the lore post-Fnaf 4? get rid of it and start from scratch. no Afton and Emily families, no weird sci-fi shit i have to work around, and i get as much creative liberty with what i want to keep/change as i want.
now for rules:
reuse names as little as possible, not counting security guards from 1-4 (there will be one main exception to this 😉).
if the books are still being included, then their plots are getting changed heavily. since The Silver Eyes technically came out between 4 and 5/SL, i decided that i would keep general premise of the first book (main character lost a sibling when they were younger and it haunts them, goes back to Freddy's with some childhood friends after several years, Murderer Is There In Plain Sight), but that i'd do whatever the fuck i wanted with the plot from there. due to a rule i'm about to get into, however, there is going to be nothing along the lines of Charliebot going on :/
use as little sci-fi as possible. if any sci-fi must be added, then it must be a small thing/something that would make sense in a horror story about haunted animatronics (see: Whatever The Fuck The Security System In The Toys Was, the fact that animatronics can move, the fact they could move during the day).
The Timeline Is My Oyster; go crazy, go insane with it.
games past 4 still exist, but their premise/plot will be changed heavily.
I Can Make Things As Queer And Autistic As I Want.
and also because i could, i split William into two different characters! one is the serial killer, and the other is just a business man :) (and French) this is also where you're going to see what i meant by "The Exception To The Reusing Names Rule" :)
so now, onto the characters! specifically, the au equivalents of the game characters that i have so far:
Henry Emily: Gabriel Fazzer
William Afton (Co-Founder/Businessman/Good Dad half): Jacques Lièvre (look up what that last name means ;))
William Afton (Murderer/Bad Dad half): David "Dave" Miller Schmidt
Michael Afton: Michael "Mike" Schmidt (or as his dad calls him "Tammy" 😒)
Crying Child: Kristopher "Kris" Schmidt (they like being called Casper, though :])
Elizabeth Afton: Marigold Lièvre
Ralph/Phone Guy: Elliot Fazzer (eldest of his siblings...and a teen dad)
Charlie Emily: Emily Fazzer
Sammy Emily: Emmet Fazzer (youngest)
Freddy MCI Kid: Carrie Shields
Bonnie MCI Kid: Isabelle "Izzy" Fitzgerald-Hernandez
Chica MCI Kid: Daisy Prescott
Foxy MCI Kid: Oliver "Ollie" Smith (or, as he'll sometimes say, "Is Ollie short for Oliver or Olivia? That's up to ye!")
Fredbear/Gold. Freddy MCI Kid: Thomas "Tommy" Fazzer (Elliot's son :))
please ask me about some fun facts. Dave is not even REMOTELY sympathetic, he just fucking sucks as a person. the closest you could get to "sympathetic" with him would be "oh, his youngest child is dead because his eldest son was a dumbass," which...is all fine and good Until You Remember That This Fucker Killed Emily + The MCI Kids BACK IN 1980.
I am making pizza right now so this is the perfect ask to get hehe. Ollie is just like me for real
Could we get some silly goofy facts about Dave :3 I want to use him as a pin cushion lol

Day 4 - Coat
The evening air may not have that chilling bite that’s normally prevalent during the colder season, but it does carry an occasional breeze that sends an unpleasant jolt running down Ingo’s arms every time it passes over him. At the very least, he’s still wearing gloves, even if the white cotton provides a flimsy barrier to the chill.
“Ingo…” Asks a voice beside him. Your mouth may be muffled from the collar of his coat, but he can still hear the hesitation in your voice, “Are you sure you don’t want this back?”
He balls up his shaking fists, resisting the urge to rub some warmth back into his arms.
“Absolutely!” He responds, without stuttering or biting his tongue somehow. “I can assure you, a chill in the air will not derail me. Furthermore, I will not allow you to walk home in such conditions.”
When he and Emmet were put in charge of the Battle Subway, their uniforms were tailor made, from the shoes to the caps. So it’s no surprise that his coat would fit you poorly. The thing hangs loosely off your shoulders and goes well below the knees, looking less like a jacket and more like a dress. Most of your face disappears behind the collar and he can just barely see the tips of your fingers poking out from the sleeves.
To anyone else, it would be an utterly ridiculous sight. For Ingo, it’s something that kindles a sense of warmth in his chest. Warm enough that, by the time he reaches your doorstep and you hand back his coat, he hardly feels like it’ll do any good. But them he puts it back on - some of the tension leaving his body as the cold is waved away - and he takes in a breath.
His coat smells just a little like you, now.

Under the City Streets (part 12)
THE END
Supersedes this draft ending
[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [7.1-7.4] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13+]
After being forced to leave a scared, uncooperative Woodsman behind, Emmet just gives up, wanting nothing more than to go to sleep in pure anguish. The light in his eyes has completely disappeared, leaving behind a dull bleak stare. The pain from his burn is now excruciating, radiating up through his entire arm, tearing into his shoulder, and crawling into his chest, only getting worse the more terrible he feels.
He comes upon an old abandoned train station. Ominously its ‘TOWNSEND STATION’ sign is partially smashed, leaving only the words ‘END STATION’. Exhausted, his legs give out and he collapses into a ball. For the first time since arriving in the Unknown, Emmet lets himself sob uncontrollably as despair and agony finally overwhelm him. Edelwood starts to climb over his form.
Someone watches him and quietly walks away.
In the meantime, Volo has been trying to find Emmet since they split to apologize. He’s been thinking about everything, his every mistake, his every misstep, his every false assumption. Everything he thought was important feels so… hollow now. No saving long dead civilizations, no rewriting the universe to rid it of pain, no usurping god; none of that matters when the one person who made him feel genuinely loved is rightfully angry at him for his mistake. A mistake he actually has the power to fix if he does this properly. He just needs to apologize to Emmet first, to let him know he will make this right.
As he perches on a branch to catch his breath, Volo spots a familiar shadow watching him. He realizes it’s the Hunter and irately goes to confront them. But the Hunter simply walks off and Volo follows, demanding to know what they’re playing at. The Hunter says nothing and just keeps walking. Volo gets annoyed and starts to yell when the Hunter points at something.
The sight he finds makes him snap his beak shut.
It’s Emmet, covered in Edelwood vines.
Volo instantly understands what’s happened and starts trying to free Emmet, berating him about this being exactly why he wanted him to leave the Unknown. Why doesn’t anyone ever listen to him about that?!
But Emmet’s not fully aware and weakly pleads to Volo in a broken voice, “he won’t listen to me… why won’t he listen? why does he hate me?”
Now Volo is going to lose the only person he considers a friend. But he is just a Starly with Tackle as his only attack. The Hunter has unhelpfully disappeared on him as per usual. So Volo goes to find help.
Luckily, he spots the light of the Woodsman’s lantern moving along in the forest. He finds the man trudging along, dragging his axe behind him and looking utterly defeated and lost. Knowing his complete story now, Volo dives in at him.
For the Woodsman, his world is shattered. He doesn’t know why he bothers carrying the lantern still. He’s not even sure what it is anymore.
The sight of Emmet’s bleeding face haunts him.
How could he?
And then there’s an angry Starly in his face, yelling invectives at him.
The Woodsman does not take Volo’s verbal abuse well. But when the subject of his brother is brought up, the Woodsman loses all the fight in him, still rattled by his last encounter with Emmet, having only been a few hours ago. He’s full of guilt after hurting him and doesn’t think he deserves to be near Emmet.
Volo is instantly fed up and steals the Woodsman’s hat, demanding he follow him if he wants it back. The Woodsman knows what Volo is trying to do and reluctantly lets himself be led away, hoping beyond hope that this is just some fucked up joke.
It’s not a joke.
The sight of Emmet’s crumpled form, covered in Edelwood vines, leaves the Woodsman cold with horror and clarity.
Any doubt vanishes.
Emmet is his brother and always has been.
He’s been a fool…
The Woodsman tries to wake Emmet up as he and Volo break away Edelwood branches. He cajoles him with reassurances that he’s there for him, that he’s sorry, that he wants him to get up.
But Emmet’s despair is too much. And here, Emmet finally reveals the pent up anger, resentment, and grief towards his brother that he’s kept to himself for years. With his mind addled with despair, words he would normally bite his tongue to keep inside all come spilling out, resulting in a barely coherent conversation.
Woodsman: “E-Emmet! H-Hey! It’s me! Come on! Get up!”
Emmet: “leave me alone…”
Woodsman: “Wh-what?”
Emmet: “what do you care? you don’t even believe me. i’m no one to you.”
Woodsman: “No! No, I was wrong! Horribly wrong! You are Emmet! You are my brother! My little twin brother! You always have been! I was so blind…”
Emmet: “nngh! stop…! stop lying—!”
Woodsman: “Emmet, I don’t—?”
Emmet: “you’re a liar. you said you’d come back home. that was four years ago. what did i do? why did you lie to me…”
Woodsman: “…I-I’m sorry.”
Emmet: “no, you’re not. you abandoned me. you rejected me… all you do is hurt me. over and over…”
Woodsman: “E-Emmet…”
Emmet: “i don’t know why you hate me. i just wanted to bring you home. that’s all i wanted. i tried so hard. i am so tired… please… just let it be over…”
Woodsman: “Emmet! No! NO!!!”
The Edelwood creeps over more of Emmet as his crying falls silent.
Volo realizes that Emmet’s depression is spiraling far too quickly for them now. The Woodman asks what he means, what’s wrong with Emmet, why are Edelwood vines growing on him?? Volo explains that the Unknown is claiming Emmet because he’s giving into his despair. The Woodsman is bewildered, demanding to know what the hell that means. Volo is surprised at him. He’s the Woodsman! Doesn’t he know?? Those who succumb to despair in the Unknown become Edelwood trees.
This is how the Woodsman learns the true origins of the Edelwood: it’s made of souls. Humans and Pokémon who gave into their despair and died while in Unknown, consumed by the forest, remade into oily trees with agonized faces. The Woodsman has a massive breakdown. This whole time, he’s been harvesting lost souls for the lantern. The Beast kept this from him, and lied to him about the nature of the trees. He had his suspicions but the truth is devastating.
He truly is as monstrous as everyone says he is.
He barely snaps out of it when Volo yells at him to help him with Emmet, the vines are growing far too fast for his tiny bird body to remove. Indeed, Emmet is getting swallowed up by thickening vines.
The sight breaks something in the Woodsman.
Ingo decides he’s ending this now.
Enraged, Ingo wraps his arms around Emmet and with a roar of fury (“I WON’T LET YOU HAVE HIM!!”) he tears his brother right out of the Edelwood, twigs and vines falling away from Emmet’s freed body, staining them both in black oil.
Volo is awed by Ingo’s strength but gets hold of himself and guides him to the wooden floor of the abandoned station to keep the vines at bay, advising him to keep Emmet warm. Ingo does so, hurriedly taking off his thick Pearl Clan tunic and putting it on his brother. Ingo cradles Emmet’s limp form, fruitlessly begging him to wake up before breaking down, sobbing apologies into his brother’s shoulder. Volo quietly listens and watches him for any signs of waking up.
Emmet remains limp and lifeless.
“Ingo?” a rough feminine voice calls out softly.
Volo is surprised to find Lady Sneasler leaping down before them, she too having been guided there by the Hunter. Her gaze is wary but drops it when she sees Emmet’s condition. Ingo bundles his brother up in his arms and begs her to help Emmet. He knows he wronged her, but he’s only asking this of her for Emmet’s sake. Sneasler solemnly agrees, gently lifting Emmet out of his brother’s hold. Before she leaves, she asks what Ingo is going to do now.
Ingo hefts his axe and puts his hat back on. He simply says he has unfinished business and heads out to confront the Beast. Sneasler warns him that he can’t take on the Beast alone. Not even she could do it. But Ingo says he needs to make up for what he’s done, for the people he’s hurt, for what the Beast made him do. For Emmet. She reluctantly allows him his mission and promises she’ll come back for him with friends. Ingo gives her a sad smile and simply thanks her for everything she’s done for him before walking away.
Volo hesitates but chooses to accompany Emmet. With a quiet word, he leads Lady Sneasler to someone close by that he knows who can help.
Deep in unconsciousness, Emmet remembers the truth of how he came to be in the Unknown. He’d been walking the tunnels when the earth suddenly began to shake. But instead of a steam train barreling at him, he realized it was an earthquake when cracks started forming in the concrete around him. He started to run, but it was too late. A mass of concrete collapsed over him, burying him in rubble, crushing him under its weight, explaining his visions of a broken tunnel whenever his breathing became labored. As he struggled to stay conscious, his last thought was that he didn’t want to die without seeing his brother one last time.
Emmet slowly awakens from his miasma of misery to find two kids tending to him. Akari and Rei, the Professor’s missing assistants. He’s still deeply depressed and his burn is as painful as ever, but he pulls enough of himself together to at least be polite and interact with his caretakers. As far as Akari and Rei know, Lady Sneasler and a little Starly brought them his unconscious body. Their host had healing supplies to spare and the kids agreed to assist. Then the two Pokémon left, Volo to collect more healing berries and Sneasler to gather reinforcements.
Emmet is despondent and just wants to go back to sleep, not caring that he’s down to just his singlet and tattered pants. But Akari jams a spoonful of berry mash into his mouth and demands that he “eat his mush”. He’s annoyed but does as he is told and slowly eats the combined healing berries.
They talk, Akari and Rei questioning Emmet about his appearance. They reveal they’ve met Ingo before, but he was actually quite nice to them. Well, except for that time they messed with his lantern, but that was their fault. They’re the only humans Emmet’s met who have anything remotely nice to say about his brother, telling him of how he tried his best to help them even though they kept accidentally making his life harder. It’s enough to bring a small smile back to Emmet’s face.
Then an unfamiliar, white-haired woman in a long, lacy black dress approaches him. She elegantly checks him over and says they’ve done everything they can. The rest is up to him.
She introduces herself as Cogita, idly commenting with a raised brow about how her quiet life has suddenly taken such an… interesting turn. Akari and Rei look embarassed but say nothing as they help restock her medical supplies, trying to be discreet about listening in.
It’s not long before Volo makes it back. He immediately fusses over Emmet, who quietly tolerates it before they fall into an uncomfortable silence.
That’s when Cogita asks for a moment with Volo. He looks nervous but agrees. Away from the others, the two talk, Cogita wondering why she hasn’t seen him in years. He used to constantly pester her for myths right up until Hisui was transported to the Unknown. She believed that he was stranded in Jubilife, not here as a Pokémon. Volo admits that he’s been avoiding her. He didn’t want her to see him like this: small, weak, pathetic, humiliated. He was too ashamed.
Cogita gently picks Volo up and gives him a hug. She’s just happy that he’s still alive. She was starting to miss him.
Volo fluffs up in embarrassment but nuzzles her back.
She then asks Volo about Emmet’s relationship to him. Cogita hasn’t seen Volo care so much about another human before. Volo gets a bit shy and says that Emmet’s his friend. His first real friend. Cogita doesn’t push any further but it’s clear she suspects there’s something more going on between the two, at least on Volo’s end. So she gently urges Volo to just talk to Emmet. She knows they have much to discuss.
With some reluctance, Volo lets himself be shooed away to rejoin Emmet.
When he returns to Emmet’s side, Volo immediately apologizes. For the pain he put Emmet through. For everything. This whole mess is his fault. But he’s taking responsibility. He’ll fix this, not to break his curse, but because it’s what needs to be done.
However, Emmet softly asks why Volo even bothered helping him. Volo is quiet for a moment before he tells Emmet that he didn’t want him to die. For what it's worth, he considers Emmet his friend. He cares about him. And he’ll understand if Emmet hates him forever; it’s what he deserves in the end.
To Volo’s shock, Emmet forgives him and hugs Volo as some of the shadows fade from his haggard form. Volo returns the hug, a weight lifting from his back.
Emmet then asks how Volo got him out. A bit of life returns to his eyes when Volo informs him that Ingo is the one who saved him. A teary smile starts to form as he is told about how Ingo freaked out and literally ripped him out of the Edelwood and proceeded to cry over him a whole bunch. But then Ingo left to confront the Beast.
Emmet’s smile drops.
And then he snaps.
He did what?!
Emmet’s eyes go from dark and dull to practically incandescent with rage.
He almost had Ingo back! He was this close! And now his idiot brother is doing some self-sacrificial bullshit to make up for his mistakes?! No. Fuck no! He’s not letting that happen, not when they could have just left together!! He can’t let Ingo just leave again after everything!
Though he’s still weak and wobbly from his close call, he powers through his hopelessness and marches off to drag Ingo out of whatever stupid horseshit he’s gotten himself into.
Rei tries to stop him.
“You’re no good to your brother if you’re dead!”
“I won’t be any good to him if I stay here either,” Emmet snaps.
Emmet thanks Akari, Rei, and Cogita for their help and limps away into the night to find Ingo.
Volo starts to follow, but stops and flies back to Cogita to give her a hug. He thanks her for everything, which makes her ask why he’s doing this. He just says that he doesn’t think he’s coming back after this. He’s thinking of leaving Hisui for good; he’s done it more than enough harm. Cogita hugs him back and wishes him luck.
Volo gives her one last sad look before dutifully accompanying Emmet.
As Ingo marches towards his confrontation, he realizes that the lantern needs to be kept away from the Beast. So he hides the lantern in a tree hollow, marking its location and covering its light with his hat.
And then Ingo confronts the Beast. It seems amused to find him so quiet. When it refers to him as the Woodsman, Ingo is quick to snap at it to not call him that. He’s done doing its dirty work. He asks if it was ever going to tell him the truth about the Edelwood and if his brother’s soul was ever in the lantern to begin with.
The Beast just laughs at him for finally cottoning onto the truth. And it is not even the least bit sorry for it. It taunts Ingo, reminding him he’s been at this for years. He may as well be guilty too.
“Listen to you! Such idealism when you willfully blinded yourself to it all!” it crows, rising above Ingo.
In fury, Ingo attacks the Beast with his axe. Three years of constant woodcutting has made him far stronger and adept with his weapon. He scores several good hits, chopping off some of the Beast’s branches and leaving multiple deep wounds in its body. At one point, he even slams the axe right into its face, stomping it in further for good measure.
But the Beast is wily. It manages to distract Ingo just long enough to slam its tail down on him, stunning him. Before he can collect himself, the Beast crushes Ingo into submission. Ingo still has it in him to furiously struggle until the Beast leans in close to his ear to really twist the knife. It tells Ingo that this is all his own damn fault, that he’s a terrible brother, that his real brother, the one that he deliberately hurt, will now die because of his foolishness. His brother will die rightfully hating him. What kind of monster is he?
Crushing guilt stabs Ingo’s heart. Dazed and weakened from his injuries, he whimpers as his rage is swallowed by the chasm of despair it had always been hiding. He starts sobbing and that’s enough to make the Edelwood vines start creeping over him. The Beast watches on in satisfaction. It’s only a matter of time before this sapling grows into a full tree…
In the meantime, Emmet and Volo are on Ingo’s trail. They find the hidden lantern in the tree hollow because of Ingo’s hat. Neither of them considers this a promising sign. They take both items and carry on.
It doesn’t take long for Emmet and Volo to stumble into the battle-ruined clearing. It’s only when Emmet raises the lantern that they find Ingo half-embedded in a forming Edelwood tree, his body stuck in a sick parody of his signature point and call pose. He looks dead. When the two start breaking the branches off him, Ingo wakes up enough to reveal deadened, dull eyes. He weakly smiles at Emmet and tells him to just leave him. He’s not worth it. He’s failed him as a brother.
But Emmet won’t have it. He tearfully tells Ingo to shut the fuck up, that he’s not abandoning him, not when he can still bring him home. They’re going home together dammit! Not when they’re this close! No amount of depression is going to change that! Ingo lets out a weak laugh at this and says it was good to see Emmet one last time. Then he closes his eyes and his body falls limp.
Emmet is furiously sobbing at this point, begging Ingo to wake up. Volo tells him they can’t stop, they need to free him first.
Then the Beast makes its reappearance. It demands the lantern and much like Ingo before him, Emmet refuses to hand it over.
So the Beast suggests making a deal. Ingo is dying. But the Beast can put his soul into the lantern to keep him alive. All Emmet has to do is keep the flame lit to maintain his brother’s soul. It even tosses Ingo’s axe as his feet.
Emmet takes the axe, considering it.
Volo hisses at Emmet that this is bad, he knows a bad deal when he sees one! He was a merchant for Arceus’s sake!
But Emmet has to stop and think about it. What if he can’t bring Ingo home in time? What if they can’t get home? What if they’re trapped here to wander for eternity?
What if? What if? What if?
And then Emmet does something the Beast doesn’t expect.
Emmet asks why.
The Beast is taken aback at this.
It insists it’s trying to help Emmet but he’s not having it.
“What does it matter whose soul is in it?? I will not cage him like some fancy Pidove! If you care so much, why don’t you put your own goddamned soul in here and…”
Emmet stops, making the connection.
“…this is your soul. Isn’t it.”
The lantern holds no one’s soul but the Beast’s.
The Beast’s form goes wild and turns into an eldritch shadow. It tries to terrorize Emmet into doing what it wants, sucking out all the light and looming over him, a great monster with horrid glowing eyes pinning him in a spotlight stare as it asks,
“ArE yOU ReaDy tO SEe trUE daRkNEss?”
But Emmet’s glare just narrows,
“Are you?”
Instead of supplicating, Emmet grabs the lantern by its back handle and raises it high into the air as if he’s about to smash it on the ground.
The Beast immediately begs him not to, shrinking back to its original size.
Emmet just scoffs at it and tosses the lantern aside like so much trash. He walks back to Ingo and starts ripping off Edelwood, cutting them off with the axe when necessary.
The Beast tries to grab its lantern when a razor leaf from Lady Lilligant cuts it off. All around the clearing, the forms of the Nobles, Wardens, and the clans emerge from the shadows.
They’ve been watching.
They’ve heard everything.
They’re done with the Beast.
The Nobles surround the Beast, cutting it off from the lantern.
Paws, claws, and hands reach in and help Emmet dig Ingo out. The people who once believed Ingo wronged them understand what happened. This is their forgiveness and their apology.
Adaman frees a leg. Irida tears off a piece of the trunk. The Wardens help carefully pick Ingo free. Even Melli carves away encroaching vines with a knife.
With a final crack, the Edelwood releases Ingo and he tumbles into Emmet’s arms, his tattered coat left caught in the tree.
Emmet takes a moment to briefly hug his brother’s limp body, tears of exhausted relief gathering in his eyes as he whispers, “I’ve got you, Ingo… I’ve got you…”
Looking up at the Hisuians, he nods at them with a thankful smile.
“I’m taking my brother and going home,” Emmet then announces to the clearing. He tosses the axe aside and hauls the unconscious Ingo up on his shoulders, carrying him off without another word, Volo flying close behind. He walks past the silent clans and Nobles, who step aside and make a path for them.
The Beast makes one last move for the lantern but it’s snatched away by Lady Sneasler. Sneering, she holds it up for it to see one last time before she brings her other claw smashing through it with a Dire Claw.
The Beast shrieks and is no more.
“Goodbye, Emmet.”
“Goodbye, Volo.”
Back in the real world, a disaster has befallen the Nimbasa Subway system. An earthquake struck central Unova that was bad enough to destroy parts of the tunnel infrastructure.
Emergency crews are combing the tunnels and come across the ruined section. A search and rescue Pokémon starts digging at the rubble when a hand reaches out. Dragging himself out is a bloodied Emmet, carrying an unconscious Ingo on his back. He wheezes for help before collapsing.
In the ambulance, Emmet reaches over and clasps Ingo’s hand. He feels a reassuring squeeze in return and he drifts off.
Emmet wakes up in the hospital to find Eelektross, Chandelure, and an unfamiliar yet oddly familiar Gliscor watching him expectantly. Then he remembers everything and sits up, shouting for Ingo.
A weak groan has Emmet looking over and finding his brother in the bed next to him. Ingo has a small smile on his face and welcomes him back. Emmet starts to cry and tries to get up, but has to stop when his ribs protest.
Ingo just chuckles and tells Emmet that they both have broken ribs and they have to take it easy. They reach out and hold hands again.
Emmet wonders if everything in the Unknown really happened. Ingo just smiles and says that everyone is still trying to figure out how he’d reappeared from thin air on Emmet’s back. So that ought to answer that question.
Emmet however is more amazed by the fact that Ingo is smiling! Like genuinely smiling!! Holy shit!!
Back in the Unknown, the Hunter picks up the Woodsman’s axe and returns it to its rightful place on their back.
Volo then flies down to rest on the Hunter’s shoulder. Volo asks if they’re ready, admitting that he’s apprehensive but they’ll figure this out. The Hunter simply nods, smiling faintly despite their own worries. They reach the Old Man of the Mountain’s cabin, who warmly welcomes them in.
A golden hoof taps against a point in space-time and the distortion that jammed Hisui into the Unknown undoes itself. All over Hisui, the barrier cutting it off lifts, revealing a full landscape once more.
In the Obsidian Fieldlands, all of the Galaxy team is in the middle of frantically studying another abnormally long-lasting space-time distortion when it finally begins clearing up on its own. It reveals a confused Laventon, Akari, Rei, and Cogita, a bit thrown off by the presence of so many people gaping at them. Then Laventon starts crying and tackle-hugs a startled Cyllene, overjoyed to see her. She sighs and pats him on the back. Akari and Rei give Cogita supportive smiles as they excitedly introduce her to the Galaxy Team. She looks ready for a new chapter in her life.
A festival is held between the Diamond and Pearl clans, celebrating the breaking of the curse, the end of the Beast’s reign, and the end of the space-time distortion that transported them all away. A very human Adaman and Irida share a toast to having thumbs again, while their once again Pokémon-shaped Leafeon and Glaceon do the same with some berries.
Elsewhere, a human Volo makes his way down an unfamiliar path, humbled and ready to try again. He wears a few shed Starly feathers in his hair. He perks up at seeing a sign for Nimbasa City. Realizing where he is, he bursts out laughing and runs to the city. He has a friend to find.
(Before his curse was broken, Volo was asked where he’d like to be put back. Volo just sadly thinks of Emmet and how he’ll never see him again, of how badly he screwed up Hisui, and decides he doesn’t care where or when he’s left. Just… put him somewhere he can be useful. It’s the best he can hope for. Arceus agrees. And sends Volo to the future. In Unova.)
Lady Sneasler pulls on Ingo’s battered coat with a sweeping flourish, finishing it off by twirling Emmet’s hat into the air and catching it perfectly on her head. Looking into a discarded mirror she nicked from the City, she nods in satisfaction at the placement of her two most cherished objects.
Hefting her basket full of curiously watching Sneasel kits onto her shoulders, she replicates a familiar point-and-call pose and shouts for all to hear,
“ALL ABOARD!”

Just had an idea for your 'Emmet reunites with Ingo is funny ways' fic. (You don't have to write it, just a scenario you can imagine)
Have you ever heard of the theory that Elvis never died but became a fast food worker in a different state? They constantly laugh at it in the book Good Omens but it's a real theory.
Well imagine: Emmet has decided that he wants some junk food, maybe it's a bad day and he needs a pick me up or it's a good day and he decided to treat himself. He going to get quite a bit so that he can binge watch train documents until early morning cos its one of those days, he might even order more if Elesa is invited.
He goes into a small time fast food chain (maybe he's in Unova and it's one he used to visit or maybe he's in Sinnoh and it's recommended) and at the counter he's face to face with Rei/Akari and Ingos in the back flipping burgers.
It's 2023, inflation hasn't made it easy to house a time displaced full grown man. Even though they could make some money battling, they don't want Ingo to be in the spotlight as a professional battler just yet as he's only just gotten used to some modern things.
Thankfully this fast food chain is known for taking on anyone regardless if they are qualified and the food and equipment is simple enough for Ingo to use, helps that it isn't really popular too. Rei/Akari works with him to help him adjust and to help with any food rushes.
So yeah. There Emmet is, standing in front of his adopted nephew/niece and his long lost brother handing him a tray of a dozen fries, burgers, nuggets and a slushpuppy while in an apron and goofy hat.
Omg anon, what would your reaction be if I showed you one of my wips with this idea. It's been months since it's been a things in my phone's note app and I had completely forgotten.
LOOK AT THIS (far from complete but oop-):
The seat felt uncomfortable under him, but Emmet didn't have any other option than endure it, self imposed suffering as it was. He had promised Iris he would take her out to eat wherever she chose if she managed to regain her title as champion. Defeating Rosa, after all, was no easy feat. Not only was she one of the region's heroes, but also a regular at the Battle Subway. Emmet knew first hand how difficult, how fun and challenging, it was to fight her.
And finally, after a year and a half of frustrated training sessions and manic strategizing, Iris rose as champion of Unova once more. Enduring it was.
That didn't mean he wasn't enjoying himself, though. Emmet usually had some time set apart for socializing with family and friends at least twice a week, so it wasn't a matter of social battery. Just the wooden seats.
He could understand from an objective point of view why this particular restaurant had them. it was aiming for an 'old era' feeling, with high barstools, wooden furniture and walls, gentle light coming from paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling... There were also sepia photos filling the walls to the brim with pictures of extinct pokemon and historical figures, of which Emmet only managed to recognize profesor Laventon. If he looked more closely, maybe he would distantly recognize more from his time in school, but he had no interest. He had a set schedule, a point of arrival already in sight.
To have a fun night out with his favorite (and only) cousin.
Why this place, he had asked Iris. To try something different had been her reasoning, of course.
The restaurant wasn't as bombastic as the usual Nimbasan ones, not even Unovan. A fairly new restaurant that focused on 'traditional Sinnoh' cuisine. He usually wouldn't trust such bold statements in Unova of all places, yet all reviews of people who came from Sinnoh had seemed surprised in a good way.
Emmet's preferences had always been to traverse the same tracks over and over again. Always the same. But it was Iris who was asking, and for family Emmet would go a long way. Especially since...
Must have been verrrry fun to battle Rosa again. Emmet wondered when the girl would show up in the Battle Subway, since now she had the free roam being champion didn't allow her. Emmet hoped Rosa chose the Doubles. He would see her regardless, but he verrrry much hoped for the Doubles line.
Emmet was sure Ingo would have been delighted to see Rosa challenging the Battle Subway again. He sighed. Damn it, he had been avoiding the thought of his twin so well lately, too. It hurt to be glad about it, but Emmet was so, so tired of the constant agony. He was sure Ingo would forgive him, just this once.
"Heeeeeeyoooo, Nimbasa to Emmet! Are you there?"
"I am Emmet. I am here. In front of you."
Aaaaaand that's about all I have written out. From there it would go on a funny reunion with chef Ingo, waiter Melli and a Karen. Melli vs Karen the ultimate showdown. Poor Ingo.
Lmao, I wanna get back to writing fanfic so bad, but I really really shouldn't right now.

A sweet and slightly silly idea:
The first homemade meal Ingo eats after returning from Hisui has him experiencing a flashback like Ego from ‘Ratatouille’, especially if it’s something that he used to eat a lot or has sentimental value. He gets the thousand-yard stare and goes dead silent before scarfing it down.
cw: short, fluff, post-pla ingo
Ingo's new oddities had been a bit distressing at first, certainly. His inability to recognise the places that should be familiar to him was the most concerning among them, but his many scars and fresh injuries also stirred worries. But, he was alive and mostly well. Memories scrambled yet somehow the same old Ingo. Amnesia could not keep a good train man from yelling out “All aboard,” it seemed.
There were many challenges in helping the poor man readjust to the modern day. His ability to navigate Nimbasa had become poor, but he was quickly relearning everything. There was some inherent distrust towards people, perhaps stirred by the environment that he had been in previously. He even seemed more on edge towards wild pokemon themselves, which made interacting with even passive pokemon, like Lillipup, an experience. Yet, old habits died hard as you saw him speaking softly to a wild Purrloin or seeming to be enchanted by the sight of a Litwick.
Now, all of that was important, but something had crossed your mind when you considered the health of your amnesic lover. He was now strangely muscular… His appetite seemed to have been increased from what it was before his disappearance. You hummed to yourself as it swirled in your mind. Had you made him something since his return? You realised it quickly. No, you had not.
Confirming that he was still at home by peeking into the living room where his old pokemon had surrounded him and demanded his attention, you rushed into the kitchen and checked your supplies. You appeared to have everything you needed. Slowly, you began to shape ground beef and work to make a lovely sauce to pair that Ingo had always seemed to enjoy. The smell in the air was a pleasant shift as sizzling sounds echoed out. Soon, you had a delicious hamburger made and prepared to Ingo's previous enjoyment.
Calling him to the table, you watched as he stared at the sandwich for a moment. The smell of onions wafted about while you hoped that he could still handle some level of spice. He sat still for a moment, clearly uncertain for some reason. You hoped it was not too much for him. It finally hit you that he had likely been on an entirely different diet in Hisui. Shame was just about to creep over your mind when he reached a hand out to grab the dish.
His hands instantly seemed to recall how to hold it as he brought it to his mouth to bite into it. He closed his eyes for a moment as distant memories seemed to just ghost around his mind tauntingly. Voices talking about various things with his job or day. A phantom hug around him with a faint kiss on his cheek. The cold air of the outside changing into something warm with the creaking of a door. Then, a single memory. One where his twin sat with him and you. He seemed younger, lacking their shared facial hair and bagged eyes. Laughter came from Emmet as a Joltik tried to run off with a piece of his bun. He felt a sigh come from him as he began to scold him, but was cut off by his Excadrill grabbing on to his leg and looking up at him with pleading eyes. What a mess, he had thought.
He came back to reality slowly, realising he was chewing his food for too long and finally swallowed it. His eyes drifted to you. You barely seemed that different from his memory. How much time had passed since then? Had Hisui just aged him. Ingo took another bite. You smiled at him sweetly.
“Do you like it, Ingo? I wasn't sure if you could handle the chilli oil you usually liked on it…” You scratched your head nervously. He had not even noticed the heat, honestly.
“I love it, dearest,” the words slipped from his lips with little thought as he gave a smile, “Thank you for making it for me.”
You both felt a little closer after so long apart.
(Then you realised he had not had processed cheese in a while. There was not saving him.)
