Flexing some of the visual research I did in the process of developing this character pose sheet :) I actually do quite a lot of visual research for each project I take on, but I generally don't post them alongside the designs. Thought it might be interesting to include it for a change!

I posted a black and white version of this sheet a couple months ago, but I thought it would be fun to add the colors since I had already determined a color scheme for the design! I had a lot of fun including props in the poses I drew— maybe I will do some renderings for a prop lineup soon 👀 psst be sure to check out my portfolio site if you wanna see more

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but here is a character lineup I've been working on! These are kiddos attending a magical academy on an island secluded from the non-magical world. The four on the left all attend the academy together and eventually encounter their spiky looking friend on the right. Hijinks ensue!

These are poses I did of a character from a story concept I have called Emerisle :) I did a full character lineup several posts ago now, but you can see more under the emerisle tag on my blog!

y'all ever spontaneously get inspired to draw ur lil magical school characters? because me too <3 just don't look too hard because this is just the sketch ahahaha but I'm hoping to finish it out into a fully fledged character lineup sheet to go into my portfolio >:) doing something like this has been on my list of ideas for months and I am soooo happy I got to work on it !!! I had mainly been focusing on research for my honors thesis and finals and then creating some new storyboard samples for my portfolio (which I will share here soon!) so it's nice to have some time to devote to character design for a quick break ✦✧✦
