absolutely! so basically my idea is that on EMC, (Earth of Meters Cubed, the name the Minecraft planet has in my convoluted quadruple-crossover fanfiction,) there is no such thing as moss, like what grows on sunny rocks and forest floors and just sits there (side note: I'm not sure why I came up with this when mossy cobblestone and lush caves... exist. just roll with it.) instead, all species of moss are sentient creatures called Mosses.

their bodies are pretty much clumps/tangled strands of moss, aside from things like eyes and brains and stuff, but it's all still plant matter. Mosses also don't have any more explosive capabilities than their real-world equivalents.

from there, the place where Creepers come in is not a far leap in logic away:

Creepers are just undead Mosses. some, but probably not species can explode, probably from some kind of combustible substance produced during decomposition, or maybe pressurized gasses or sporophytes or something.

Mosses generally live in warm, shaded places, sometimes in underground burrows, and practically never interact with other intelligent races. they're seen as some kind of wild people, I guess. (at least until the quadruple-crossover part of the story happens.)

In France, we have a diploma to pass at the end of our 4 junior high school years. It is called "Diplôme national du brevet" aka "DNB".

There two competencies which are evaluated during the DNB: - writing and answer questions about what we have learned. - talking about one artistic topic for 5minutes and answer questions about it for 10minutes

The examen is at the end of the year (around the month of June). This year, the writing test is on 26th - 27th June and the oral test is on 14th.

But before in the year, we we do a practice that we call “Brevet blanc”. It's noted on 400 points.

The writing : 350 points

The oral: 50 points

(almost) All our subjects are divided in three days :

First day : french which is composed of 1h10 of text studying, 20 minutes of dictation and 2h of redaction (you can choose between imagination or reflexion topic) . It is on 100points

Second day: History - geography - moral & civil education. This test during 2h . We have a questionnaire for each subject. history and geography are each on 20 points and moral & civil education on 10 points. Which give a total of 50points .

Last day: sciences : we have four scientific subjects (maths, biology, chemistry and technology) but only three are in the exam. This year the three subjects are maths, biology and technology. Maths are on 100 points, biology on 50points and technology 50points too.

So, this week I'm on my «brevet blanc» week :

Yesterday I passed my french test, today my History - Geography - EMC test and tomorrow I will pass my sciences test.

Well, more exciting than challenging: Kombucha talk at cell coming up The RP first session was pretty fun

Gosh can’t think of anything much....

For a while, there was: DIY recipe zine, more kombucha talks at library, speaker programme ideas...

But now buried by loads of meetings and admin rubbish.

Ok i forgot...there was: Video project - it became less of a dread (after i didn’t bother about the timeline), and the shoots were surprisingly fun and relaxing. And now we are reaching the end of video edits (only getting laborious now). Thankful that Preeta helmed most of post-production.

I noticed i considered the video shoots challenging and dreaded but they turned out to be the most fun i’ve had.

Green Market is still fairly stable, just about to start the EMC part. Grateful the team and PM is good, and things move.

A lot, perhaps too much, social interaction at work (and a general feeling of not much substantial work happening)

Austin Goes Electric: Orlando Bloom rode my Energica at Circuit of the Americas

It’s not every day that you get invited to a MotoGP race and have a celebrity take your bike for a spirited parade lap!

So I am sitting at my desk working away, getting ready for my first work-related travel for my first customer deployment of charging equipment, when my friend Rick (from Orlando) pings me and asks what I’m doing October 1-3 and I told him I’d be getting ready to go to Jacksonville, FL for work. He tells me that Stefano, the US CEO of Energica, is trying to find customers who will lend the company their bikes for a parade lap during the MotoGP race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. He said that if I could meet them in north FL, they could trailer my bike and I could ride in their van (which is converted into a camper and has room for their two Energica Ribelles). I said let me talk with my boss...

I hadn’t even been with the company a month yet, but given that my boss is a race fan and another team member is a motorcyclist himself... they told me to go and to use that unlimited PTO. So without hesitation, I told Rick that I was in and texted Stefano to tell him I looked forward to meeting him in person finally, and began to figure out how I was going to get down there.

First, I needed new bags to hold everything. I had work gear, clothes, and other supplies that had to travel with me on two wheels. I found a good sized bag at Cycle Gear that was on sale. I was able to get it to latch onto the back of my bike seat, and I’d take my IKEA backpack as well (the one that I bought with my Energica EVA when I went to IKEA back in 2019).

This pack was huge, and it was going to create problems for me down the road -- but I was too excited about this amazing adventure to care. Next up, I needed to determine my route. I hit up my buddy Austin who lives in Columbia, SC and he said I could crash on his sofa so I could break the ride from Raleigh, NC to Lake City, FL up into two days. So I’d leave Tuesday the 28th from my home and ride down to Cacye, SC (about 230mi). I would be stopping in Moncure, NC and Wadesboro, NC and then topping off in Lugoff, SC at a Chevy dealership before I’d make it to Austin’s home (where I would overnight charge on his Level 2 charger). From here I’d head down to Augusta GA, Dublin GA, Tifton GA, Valdosta GA, and finally arrive in Lake City FL to meet up with Rick and his wife Sabrina -- about 400mi total. 

I left the house at 4pm and arrived at my first charging stop in Moncure at 4:46. I like this stop because it’s at a mini mart with a kitchen/cafe and a picnic table. While charging, I took a half hour work-related call and then saddled up to head to Wadesboro.

I arrived at Wadesboro (this location is no longer in existence) around 7:15pm. This charger is at an Electric Member Cooperative (EMC) office, and there is nothing within walking distance of this place. After charging, I headed off to Lugoff Chevrolet - my last stop before I’d get some much desired sleep.

I arrived in Lugoff just before 10pm. This charge was free, and I’m really thankful that they leave the DC charger out in the open like this and don’t power it off at night. I didn’t stay here long, I was only 30-ish miles from Austin’s house. I remember that we chatted a little bit when I arrived (I don’t remember the time). I told Austin he needed to go to bed because he gets up at like 4am to go to work, and I needed to get some rest myself. I made myself at home on his sofa and fell fast asleep.

The next morning I departed Austin’s house with a full charge and rode 74mi down to Augusta -- but not before stopping at a Waffle House for a steak and eggs breakfast!

I arrived at the Kroger in Augusta at 10am and started my charge then headed over to the Great Clips to get a haircut. With the sides of my head shaved, and some water procured from the Kroger, I set off for Dublin - where I’d be eating lunch.

I got to Dublin just before 2pm. This Georgia Power ChargePoint charging station is located at a Burger King, which meant it was ChaKing Chicken Sandwich time. I do like their chicken sandwiches. After eating and charging, it was off to Tifton.

In Tifton I completely repacked all my bags and moved the big bag to the tank. This made things a lot easier on me, especially since I’d taken most of the heavy stuff out of my backpack so that my back would stop hurting. After laying out in the grassy field (this station is actually in a hotel parking lot), I headed off to Valdosta -- the last needed charge stop before the rendezvous with Rick and Sabrina.

Valdosta was a trouble stop -- it took two or three attempts to get the charger to work, and the bike was very hot and reduced its charging speed to a max of 9kW. After getting enough juice to make it the home stretch, it was off to Lake city!

I arrived at Lake City sometime after 10pm, Rick and Sabrina showed up with their van and trailer about 10:30pm. We loaded my bike up then pulled across the street to a motel to rest for the night. What a good sleep that was!

Thursday we drove from Florida to Texas. I don’t remember where we stopped to sleep, but I remember we made it to Texas. The next morning we headed out early and arrive at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin sometime in the 10am hour.

Now the confusion starts. We had to take COVID tests and get our badges, and the tests had to come back before the events started on Saturday or we wouldn’t be allowed in the paddock. It took several calls and driving around the exceptionally large race track before we finally found Stefano and Chris Paz from Energica who escorted us to the place to get our COVID tests and badges. 

Chris and Stefano had brought a bike from the local dealer, and another customer’s bike to the paddock already. We unloaded our bikes and left them for the event the next day. We went to our hotel and decompressed for a bit while we wanted for Livia (Energica CEO) and Giampiero’s (Energica CTO) plane to land. Once they touched down, we all coordinated meeting up for dinner at Cooper’s Old Time BBQ.

It’s not every day you get to eat dinner with the CEO of a motorcycle company, and Livia is the sweetest person on earth. It was so much fun to talk with her about life, motorcycles, electrification, and the differences between Italian riders and American riders -- notably the difference in listening to music or podcasts while riding. I also found out that it was Livia who insisted the Energica bikes have a reverse function -- a key feature that made me want one.

Livia and  Giampiero were naturally exhausted and ready to retire for the night after our delicious BBQ dinner. We all said our goodbyes and headed back to our respective hotels for some shut eye.

The next morning we headed to the track around 10am. Today was the big day where our bikes were going do their parade lap. Now, there was even more confusion about who was riding the bikes. Up until we got to the track on Saturday, we thought that we were going to be the riders. But once we arrived on scene, we were given some forms to sign and told that celebrities will be riding our bikes around the track. Well, that’s cool. Who are they?

There were several European influencers - they gravitated to my bike for reasons unknown (one guy said it was the most upright and familiar riding position to him), and they proceeded to do wheelies and all sorts of stunts. Livia could tell we were all a tad concerned, especially since one of the shorter guys nearly dropped my bike not once but twice -- both times people standing next to him grabbing it to prevent it from going down. Livia assured us that if anything happened to our bikes that she’d make it right. These were not all the celebrities, we were then told that a former MotoGP winner (Kevin Schwantz) and a movie star were going to be taking part in the parade lap.

Some time later, Livia walked up to me and took my hands. She told me that Mr. Orlando Bloom (yes, Legolas from Lord of the Rings) has chosen to ride my motorcycle. Now, earlier I’d joked that the movie star would choose my bike because it was the only blue bike -- all the others were some combination of grey, black, and red. Well Livia tells me “Mr. Bloom is a bit superstitious and will not ride a red bike, and your bike is the only on that’s not red.” She again assured me should anything happen, they’d make things right. I was never a huge Lord of the Rings fan, but I knew he was in that franchise. I really didn’t know anything else he had been in, so I started Googling and it turns out he’s quite the avid rider.

At some point we moved closer to the track to watch the race. Then the race paused and people came out with helmets and told us it was time to move. We threw on our helmets -- mine was far too small for my head -- and jumped on our bikes and followed a golf cart around the paddock and onto the track. Mr. Bloom was front of the pack, so I rolled right up to the front to hand my bike off to him.

Mr. Bloom is a very, very soft spoken and sweet guy. He asked me if the bike was set to medium regen, and I said yes -- and asked if he’d ridden one of these before and he said “once or twice” and I could see the smirk on his face despite the helmet. He clearly knew the bike controls because he left in Traction Control Level 6 and came back in Traction Control Level 2. My battery had lost 20% of its state of charge and estimated I could go 29 miles on 69%.

Mr. Bloom took my bike around for an additional lap -- something that I don’t think he was supposed to do, but he was having way too much fun. After he came off the track, a swarm of media and cameras rushed him. We were told to stay behind the film crew until we were told otherwise, so that’s what I did. During this interview process all the riders signed the motorcycles.

We did not know that they were going to do this, and not everyone was thrilled to know that their bikes were going to get Sharpie autographs. But I was thrilled to have Orlando Bloom’s signature!

Chris Paz said he’d send me a new center insert so I could preserve the original signature, which was super cool of him. After the event, we went to an after party at the local Powersports dealer that carries Energica. It was a complete mad house there. I don’t know that anyone else from our group made it to the event, and we had parked the Van in such a spot that we had to wait for everyone to leave before we could go. Honestly, things are a blur this far out from when it happened that I don’t even remember what we ate for dinner.

Sunday was the official race, but our passes didn’t allow us into the paddock. We were allowed restricted access to a viewing area, and the event provided a catered lunch for us. After lunch, Rick said we should go find a sports bar where we can watch the race and drink beer. So we (he, me, Sabrina) all loaded up into the Sprinter van and headed out to find a watering hole. We found one, but we had trouble watching the race. Eventually we wandered back to the track to load up our bikes and later we had dinner with Livia and crew. Rick and Sabrina wanted to call it an early night since we had to get on the road the next day, but I wanted to stay out a little longer. I had them drop me off at a gay bar that happened to be hosting a Karaoke night. I ended up singing Little Red Rodeo before taking an Uber back to the hotel, and drinking a lot of pineapple something something holy shit I’m drunk goodness.

Monday was a marathon drive back east. I forget where we stopped for the night, but I remember we had Hibachi for dinner. Tuesday we finished driving back to Orlando, unloaded the bikes, and I did some errands before packing up my stuff and calling it a night.

Early -- like 5am -- the next day I woke up and saddled up to head north to Jacksonville for work. I stopped and charged at a Harley dealer in Ormond Beach, and topped off at the Harley dealer outside Jacksonville. I arrived and attempted to check into my hotel, but I was too early. My boss let me store my stuff in his room, and we piled into the rental to head to our job site. I told all the stories here, and more, to my boss and coworker. Oh, and before I forget here is an official MotoGP video of Orlando Bloom’s ride (and you can see me in it in a couple spots). I can’t embed the video because Dorna Sports prevents it -- boo. Will Missouri Legalize Sports Betting?

(STL.News) As a sport-loving country, the question of betting and sportsbook legalization has long been on the lips of the Senate in the US.  So far, more than two dozen states have made sports betting legal, though many bills have only included in-person betting, as opposed to online betting. The Missouri Complex For those living in Missouri, this might be a bit of a sore subject.  Five of Missouri’s eight bordering states have legalized sports betting in some shape or form, and all of them have been performing well in the market - Illinois sportsbooks, in particular, have been increasing by 32.4% year-over-year.  So far, only Kentucky and Oklahoma have not legalized, with Nebraska currently pending along with four other states in the US – Ohio, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Maine. The Path To Legalization For sports lovers in Missouri, the path to legizlation has been difficult, and it is still ongoing.  On May 13th, 2022, the Missouri legislative session – which saw lawmakers attempt to get through a sports betting bill – fell through without approval, meaning the date of legalization is still up in the air.  In early September 2022, it was announced that Missouri representative, Dan Houx, was making a push to have the HB 4 – sports betting bill – passed in a special legislative session.  The EMC (Emerging Issues Committee) did not take action on Houx’s bill, however, meaning Houx will have to wait until January 2023 to introduce and argue for the next one. The Kansas Dilemma As mentioned previously, there are many bordering states who have already introduced sportsbook betting and are creating a fair income for the market.  Kansas, specifically, launched its own sportsbooks on September 1st, 2022, and more than 2.4 million bets were placed, according to the Kansas Lottery.  Amongst other things, Houx has pointed to this as a reason why Missouri should follow suit.  According to online analysis, more than 340,000 Missouri citizens attempted to access the Kansas sportsbooks in September, demonstrating just how much of an appetite there is in the state. The Future For Missouri It is unclear when sports betting will be legalized in Missouri, but the Senate appears to be legalizing one state at a time, meaning it is a question of when not if.  Adding to this, Houx actually shepherded a bill that was backed by a coalition of Missouri’s casinos and sports teams earlier in the year, and it only ran into a dead end due to the Senate wanting to raise the VLT tax rate to 21%.  Houx has stated that he has talked with Senator Denny Hoskins a few times about the VLT issue, and they are due to recorrelate in the coming weeks.  It is important to note, also, that the more revenue bordering states make off sports betting, the more likely it is the bill will be met with positivity rather than apprehension.  If one were to place a bet on it, legalization is likely to be approved sometime in 2023 or 2024. Oh this one is hard, because I don't have the best idea of what a love language is (it's a comprehension thing on my end lol)

I think Pete likes to be thought of...? Accommodated in small ways? He's had issues before with being looked after Too Much that he felt like a leeching burden, so, it's definitely under very specific circumstances that it'd transfer into his love language.

He likes to be fed I suppose lmao He's finicky about touch given his trauma, even though he's touch starved...

(I'm not much of a romantic person, so my grip on this is weak at best ^-^' I feel like I've tried to figure it out before but my memory is failing me unfortunately)

Poppy - Pete - How is your OC around strangers?

This one is a fun one because it's not actually what you'd expect, especially given the way I talk about the bb boi.

He's actually quite calm around strangers, or, he at least appears to be.

He's polite, sometimes kind, can hold a short, trivial conversation with them, but overall, he just doesn't want to interact. He doesn't want to be seen or remembered.

It's a huge risk.

So he's polite, courteous, and above all calm, because if people figure out he's afraid, they'll start to wonder why.

(This also applies to Pete after the events of Shifting Phases, except he's noticeably more jumpy and anxious, and has a worse stutter. He's prone to panic attacks, but he'll find shelter first and try to keep quiet).

I've described his voice as lilting, soft but with a dangerous undertone, silken... And his accent is some flavour of British. I've never had a clear idea of what his voice sounds like though, so maybe...

I'm sad. And I can't really talk about it with anyone.

I can't talk to EMC because although they know about Them they don't know Them to really understand how I'm feeling.

I can't talk to Sage because although she knows Them, I don't want to be that girl who gets in a relationship and its all she can talk about.

I don't feel like I can talk to Kate and Rose because they're in the same boat as I am and probably have it worse. Kate is closer to Percy then I am, they're engaged and have know each other for years. Rose is closer to Percy then I am, they clicked right away and have so much more in common then I do with him. It does make me jealous because sometimes it doesn't feel like I gained two partners but I lost my partner.

Sometimes it feels like I'm just tolerated in this relationship. I know they're all busy, especially now with school and jobs starting but sometimes it feels like I put in all the effort to get a minimal reaction.

I also miss Percy a lot. Is it cheesy to say that sometimes I think I can smell his cologne? because I do and it hurt because I know it's not really him. I miss him a lot and I feel like I lost time hanging out with him. I wish I asked to see him more, to be with him more to have the balls to get into his space and cuddle. I wish I was more like Rose in that way. She just went in head first into this and got what she wanted. I don't even feel like I can be sad about him leaving cause Rose and Kate have more of a reason to be sad. They're closer to him.

I want to ask if he would like to have a disc date but also I don't want to bug him, he did just move back and is probably adjusting. It's probably harder for him to be away, he is the furthest away and as far as I know he doesn't really have a support system there. At least for now I have Rose and Kate and then I'll have Rose when Kate leaves on Thursday. I'm really not getting the short end of the stick here.

Is it bad that a little part of me is glad I'll be alone with Rose? At least then I can feel like I'll have my girlfriend again. I miss her. It feels like she doesn't want to be with me anymore. She doesn't give the same energy any more. It feels like pulling teeth when I try to talk to get. I put in a lot of effort for little pay off. I miss our nightly calls, but I guess I need to figure out how to sleep without her. I miss just being with her and knowing that I'm wanted.

I guess that is all over for now, I'll probably be back
