Appmon Ep43 Liveblog

Sometimes, a family is just a teenager, his hacking monster, and his younger brother who has been turned into a monster and doomed to an eternal sleep.

time for the Appmon Championships again! this time everyone’s trying to wake up Hajime

if they had to use self-injection to apprealize all those Appmon, then that must’ve been exhausting

Musimon and Emceemon were really looking forward to Eri saying the line. they even had a whole little dance for it.

it’s still hilarious how Gatchmon and Navimon are rivals despite spending so much time app fused. also, Dokamon now has a rival im the form of Calcumon! (since Coachmon didn’t directly challenge Dokamon and Calcumon, it kinda feels like he was only half series about competing to be Eri’s No. 1 fan)

lol Gatchmon’s own search ability backfired... even though it’s a minor joke, I actually find it interesting that getting back innacurate results can mess up Gatchmon so bad.

everyone is too funny and too unsuccessful so Rei has take Hajime away & wait for him to wake up naturally. he’s touched by everyone’s efforts, though — now that he’s done obsessing over finding Hajime, he’s able to open up more and start appreciating how everyone treats him like a teammate.

it’s good to see Rei back in his apartment and preparing actual food. also, I love how the moment he starts living at Rei’s actual home Hackmon just becomes a weird cat

there’s not a lot to say about it, but I really like the whole sequence of Rei carrying around and caring for Hajime as a Sleepmon. it’s just nice.

he tried so hard to make perfect fried eggs everyday and it’s the burnt ones that wakes Hajime up. smh. (of course, the reason why that’s what woke him up is because it’s a familiar smell that reminded him of his life!)

and then Hajime was secretly a genius the entire time. this kind of comes out of left field (though it was hinted at early on, which is more noticable on a rewatch) and tbh I find it a bit cliché. but even Hajime himself didn’t realize his potential, so...? but somebody had to teach him how to do that complicated math... which loops back around to my previously mentioned theory that Mom Katsura was also a hacker or programmer and taught Rei and Hajime the basics.

it’s cute how, despite having a powerful appearance, Bootmon’s personality and voice are immature because a kid made them.

sure is convenient that Hajime knows all this

interesting that Hajime’s story mostly glosses over him being converted to Sleepmon, especially when Biomon described the operation as causing Hajime a lot of pain... I wonder if this is a case of Hajime not wanting to (or bring unable to) remember the opration in detail or Biomon just being an unreliable narrator?

Now that Hajime is awake, the App Drivers now have a clear idea of what Leviathan’s plans are and what their next goal is: Find and retrieve Bootmon!
