The fact that if you smile more in life, your corpse is more likely to hold a slight smile constantly grips my mind whenever I remember Scar “You never know if you’ll wake up in the morning” Goodtimes is constantly smiling. Even before the vex stuff, which could explain it.

Maybe it’s coincidence, maybe he just wants to cut on funeral costs that little bit. Maybe he’s already dead and that’s just how his muscles tightened.

Maybe in the beginning of the infection in the crafting dead he didn’t miraculously survive, maybe all he did was come back.

A smile permanently on his face, a reminder of a life he lost.

Emmrich is fastidious in his grooming habits and wouldn’t be caught dead (lol) looking anything other than his best at all times, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s afraid to get dirty: the man works with the deceased. Embalming people requires a strong stomach. If anything he’s the one stepping up to deal with the bag of extremely rotten carrots that fell behind the shelf in the pantry and remained there for a month before the smell got so bad *someone* had to deal with it.

It makes his entire DAY when the gang stumbles upon a corpse that’s been dead for awhile and he’s going, “The advancement of tissue gas at this stage of decomposition has turned his skin that striking chartreuse colour - if you gently press on it you can actually feel the bubbles snapping under the dermis! Give me your hand, Rook!”

Meanwhile everyone else is gagging or actually throwing up because of the smell alone - never mind the green bloated dead guy.

My fav part abt twst lore is thinking abt how species that live for a long time (like fae, maybe dwarves, maybe elves if they're kicking around) must all have like... the most interesting work histories. Like no way they're keeping 1 job for 700+ years (unless you're a Senate member who doesn't seem to want to retire ever). Imagine getting a resume from an applicant and it's a 300 year long employment history that's somehow relevant for the position 😭😭 it'd take me out fr HR is crying in this world

(a little tribute i drew for aesop's birthday. aesop is the embalmer ever and makes me really happy. this was a lot of fun to work on and i'm glad to be able to finish making a short mv after wanting to do so for forever... tysm for all of the support and love while working on this, truly means a lot and gave me the strength to actually finish it!!)
