Evening dress made in 1894 in Paris and retailed in New York by the Stern Brothers. Owned by Abbie G. Rogers who died in that same year, likely making it one of the last dresses she owned. Later owned by her daughter Cara Leland Broughton, who's grandson donated it to the V&A in 1972. Currently in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

This peak's history timelines back to beyond the 20th century, with some of SA's most legendary climbers honing their skills upon these heart-stoppingly gorgeous cliffs. And how cool to sip our morning #coffee with a view of #DreamStreetRose, arguably one of the most epic trad climbs in #africa 🌍 . . You don't want to attempt any of the Elsies scrambles or routes on your own, though, for a whole host of reasons. Firstly, you may succumb to #MoronVirus and kill yourself, or waste precious resources in getting #MountainRescue when you get stuck on a flakey route. More importantly, this is an extremely fragile mountain environment and you don't want to destroy the delicate ecosystem eking out an existence here upon the edge of the bay. Rather book a solid mountain guide like Mike, who will enrich your experience a hundred-fold. . . This week's #mondaymoment #artbootcamp @lillarogers talked about the idea of #bemoreofwhoyouare I spent some time thinking about how best I could illustrate this idea and this was my solution... I took to the #mountains and did some studies of them. These are 4 snippets of some studies I carried out from 11am through til 8pm. Mountains represent a state of fully aware consciousness. Which is most likely why I was pulled to draw them for this task. It was fabulous to sit and enjoy this beautiful day from different locations. Rio is dressed in French court fashion of the time and fake beauty marks like this were very fashionable in courts in the 1750's! they originate from people covering up scars with patches, but there was a period of time where they were used to convey meaning to others and didn't necessarily cover anything, in Rio's case the placement means "Passionate" :')

Ok but where did that beauty mark on her cheek go 300 years later?? We assume that she can just change her appearance at will so why did she wipe it off??

Was it because she didn't feel beautiful anymore? Was it because she didn't have a lover to give her a loVeR's KiSS aNYMORE??

the absolute most absurd update this website has introduced recently is that now when you go into search, it gives you posts as results, but then additionally someone's random comment they left on a reblog as well. Like why on god's green earth would they do that, now I have to go click on the original post just to leave a like or reblog it, like why!!
