so uh. this is elowen lenbereth -- called teladriel (or abithir, if you want khuzdul) by mr. oakenshield here from lothlórien but ventures to mirkwood to try her hand at healing the greenwood even just a little; she’s a romantic and a very soft optimist that has very idealized notions of adventure and sets out to see more of middle earth and maybe fall in love--aaaaand then meets a very handsome dwarf prince and things get a little crazy

my tolkien friends have inducted me into the fandom recently and been very eagerly explaining....literally everything to me. elowen’s got her own lore now so if ur curious let me know !! 😳💦

marriage

real quick before i kick into full mermay mode -- been doing some lore diving and have a lot of feelings 😭 they’re basically secretly married after a night in lake town by elven & dwarren conventions at this point

(or not-so-secretly, especially after she turns up with a baby bump a few months later 🫣)

once upon a time, 🌿 at the end of the second age, an elven prince and a great granddaughter of finwë are engaged in an extended courtship—but in the end, her love for the mortals of middle earth was greater than his desire to keep them safe and hidden, and their engagement was broken. but, for a time, there was happiness between them.

i have over 8000 years of elowen’s life to account for and this makes up for at least a good few 😮‍💨 their breakup was mutual, their engagement rings were melted, and he married someone else--but then, so does she, later on.

some more thorowen doodles 🫣 somehow i’ve managed to get a doodle a day finished for the last like, week 😳

elowen figures out she’s pregnant like 2 weeks after dain is named king and she’s on her way home to lorien again, traveling with bilbo and gandalf. her mother elariel, who’s been furious ever since getting word of her daughter getting ‘friendly’ with a company of dwarves, gets even angrier that her daughter is now pregnant and wed to a dwarf that’s no longer even alive—and declares elowen a stranger to her, calling her adlaniel or ‘the lady of ruin’. (elariel is a little melodramatic 😮‍💨)

elowen ends up migrating to rivendell where she gives birth to her son, who she names thandor (from ‘thorin’, ‘thandor’ for ‘shield king’ though ‘thand’ can also mean ‘true’ in sindarin 🥺) she travels from time to time to visit the shire and makes the trip to erebor to see the remaining members of the party with thandor, who looks very much like a lankier version of his father 🥲

and there amidst the rain of light stood an elf maid — and the elvenprince thought she was crafted of burnished bronze, gleaming in the sun. 'aloratari', he called her, a blessed vision. he was sure that gazing upon her was as the light of valinor itself.

a doodle of a much younger elowen i forgot to post last week: this is mid-second age, during her trip from rivendell after sauron’s seige was broken and she could join her mother in lothlorien--with....a brief stop in eryn galen on the way.

i don’t even want to tag these i’ve been trying out a shorthand doodle style lately and opted for meme junk after horsing around the other day talking about elowen meeting feanor in the halls of waiting so obviously we had to compile some incorrect quotes that fit

since i’ve had some folks curious!

this is adar and my oc, elowen 💛 i’ve doodled her with other characters but i do actually have a fic i’m working on for the bit of her story that she’s with adar and the uruks! i talk more about her on my main blog ( @binarysvnrise ) if you’re ever interested, but! she’s called elowen, lenbereth, and anaíriel—elowen is her father name (technically, that’s Lore™️ though), lenbereth is her amilessë, and anaíriel is her epessë. most folks in lindon and then eregion call her anaíriel while she lives there!

in the southlands, though, she gets another nickname from the humans there 😉
