Headcanuary - Day 1

Prompt: Flowers.

Anakin Solo || Han Solo

They share this headcanon because, due to the fact that Leia is very fond of flowers, Han always made sure to teach their kid(s) how to take good care of her plants and also taught them to spot the ones that she likes the most, especially candlewicks due to how rare and difficult to find they became after the destruction of Alderaan. Anakin, who has always struggled with carrying the legacy of The Anakin, the hero of the Republic but also the man who he knew became Darth Vader, also became fond of candlewicks because he knows the way Leia connects them to her mother, and so he feels those connect him to the more peaceful side of his family.

Elodore Vane

Valahari, besides being known for making the fastest ships in the galaxy with the best engines to match, is also known for having some of the most beautiful gardens. One often called the most beautiful is the garden that belongs to the royal family. Because Elodore loves flowers, and because it gave her something to do and —later, after consummating her marriage with Harko— bond over with her son other than royal matters, she works hard in tending to her garden. She has flowers all year round because she's specifically divided the garden in sections of seasonal plants, so that no matter the season, there's always something blooming.

Koska Reeves

Koska doesn't like being gifted flowers. Not because she doesn't like them– actually, she does; but because she doesn't like when planets are ripped out of the ground to be turned into a bouquet, an expensive one at that because some can be really expensive. She thinks it's credits that go to waste on a gift that will shrivel up and die in a week, tops. She'd very much rather be gifted potted plants, but even then she isn't sure she can give them proper care given her hectic life and line of work that sends her to places that only few plants can thrive in.

Leia Organa

Leia's favorite flower is candlewicks. They're a plant native to Alderaan whose flowers have a natural glow to them, and she heavily associates them with her mother because Breha —having had pulmonodes since before Leia was born and often wearing dresses with low necklines as per Alderaan costume— had a visible glow within her chest that Leia believed to be a bouquet of candlewicks. To her, those flowers represent her mother and their bond. Breha knew this and on Leia's birthdays, they would both go to the royal gardens and planted a new candlewick plant.

Luke Skywalker

Lukw is forever baffled by the concept of house plants. Just, the fact that people choose to have and tend to plants that serve no purpose other than looking pretty– and not even all year! it completely blew his mind the first few times he was presented with it. He has a hard time figuring out how much water is enough for a plant, usually ends up overwatering them. But he LOVES making plants grow with the force. He's done that for Leia multiple times.

Maulkiller

Maulkiller is allergic to pollen. Having spent most of his life in a laboratory in Kamino with the closest plant being light years away, he was never exposed to them and so, he's allergic to most flowers due to the pollen. It's not a deadly allergy, but it's not fun.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan can't keep a plant alive to save his life. Qui-Gon, on the other hand, had one hell of a green thumb. But no matter how hard he tried to get Obi-Wan into the routine of watering, fertilizing, clipping and just overall tending to the plants, it never stuck. Obi-Wan would often forget to water them for weeks at a time and only remember sporadically when he noticed the dirt was looking cracked-dry or the plant would start to shrivel up. He ended up almost killing a couple of Qui-Gon's plants (only didn't because Qui-Gon took over) and he still feels bad about it. But he just, couldn't really make himself care for the plants. After all, he grew up in Coruscant where very few people give a damn about flora.

A'Sharad Hett

After the attack against the Jedi, A'Sharad made his way back to Tatooine, where he rejoined his Tusken tribe and became the chief after his mother passed away. After her death at the hands of the settlers, he began wagging war against the settlers in retaliation, making the rule that the Tusken would only ever kill enough settlers to match the number of Tuskens killed by settlers. At first, the people of Tatooine found this to be beneficial, because all the casualties were Jabba's people, criminals. But soon they found out that farmers and merchants weren't exempt from this new arrangement.

Carnor Jax

As an adult, after having climbed the ranks of the empire to become a Sovereign Protector Guard, Carnor eventually made his way back to Thyrsus: the planet he grew up on and which he was later taken from after his father was killed by the Emperor. He went there wanting some closure, some semblance of feeling at home, but all he achieved was for his resentment towards Palpatine to grow. It was there that he discovered his force sensitivity, destroying the Sun Guard temple that was once his home.

Elodore Vane

Valahari stopped feeling like home to Elodore after Harko and her child died. She stayed because her daughter in law and grandchild needed her, but without her direct family, Valahari felt as alien to her as if she'd suddenly been transported to the other end of the galaxy.

Leia Organa

Since the war, Leia avoids looking at the night sky. She used to love looking at the stars, especially when she was away from home. She knew exactly where to find Alderaan... and that is why she doesn't look at the stars anymore. She knows exactly where to find Alderaan, given how light travels, from certain planets, it is still visible. Whenever she spots it, she ends up not sleeping that night. She can't stop looking at it.

Now that I've taken Obi-Wan as a muse, I'm subjecting y'all to my thoughts. Starting with the Hero Of The Confederacy arc of The Clone Wars comics.

First, the cover, cause it fucking kills me

Average dinner with the most chaotically dramatic Jedi lineage.

Now for real, this arc is one of my favorites because of how emotional it makes me and the depth it adds to the Obi-Wan–Dooku–Qui-Gon situation.

First, a quick summary of the plot. During the clone wars, Obi-Wan is invited to dinner with the royal family of the planet Valahari because of disputes related to the fact separatist ships that gunned down innocent people were found to have Valahari engines. Up until that point, Valahari remained neutral in the war. But given that their engines —Valahari is known for making the fastest ships in the galaxy— are benefiting the Separatists, the Republic wants to ensure that doesn't happen again. Obi-Wan insists they must try to solve this peacefully, secure an alliance, because he knows the royal family and is close to them. But Obi-Wan is not the only one trying to achieve an alliance.

So Obi-Wan goes there (with Anakin, obviously, do NOT separate them) and this is how he is received:

LOOK AT HIS FACE, HE'S SO SOFT. THE ROYAL FAMILY, BUT ESPECIALLY ELODORE, ARE SO FUCKING FOND OF HIM!

A whole extra layer of depth is added to this fondness when we read further and find out that Elodore is, in fact, an old flame of Dooku's and that Dooku still has feelings for her, to the point he helped her destroy all information the Jedi had about her force sensitive son, who she refused to give away. So, Dooku is a more-than-a-friend of the royal family, Qui-Gon was very close to them and so is Obi-Wan.

And Dooku is there, too.

This situation kills me. Obi-Wan is close enough to Elodore and her family that later —when he sneaks into her bedroom chambers by climbing in through a window— she doesn't think anything bad of him. So now I can't stop thinking about how, last time Obi-Wan was in a situation like this with Dooku: sitting at a table for dinner full of other people, he was probably very young (Elodore's words about him having grown into a handsome young man and Harko mentioning Qui-Gon's death imply they haven't seen him in a while, over 13 years), he was probably quite young. So I can't help but think about a young Obi-Wan having a fancy dinner with the royal family, being chided by Dooku about how he should sit straight and get his elbows off the table, only for Qui-Gon, sitting between them, to hunch over and put his elbows on the table, smiling with feigned innocence like he doesn't know why Dooku is glaring at him now.

Then, Harko Vane is killed by Ventress because she messed with his ship, Anakin is framed for it and while the Jedi Order knows that it was not Anakin, Valahari is out for justice and of course whoever brings them justice for their dead ruler is gonna earn their loyalty. So everything turns into a race against time as the Republic is trying to punish Anakin for a crime he didn't commit, and Obi-Wan is trying to prove his innocence (Does this remind anyone else of a certain plot with Ahsoka?).

It's a nice parallel with the Ahsoka being framed for a crime she didn't commit arc. Especially because we see how differently Anakin and Obi-Wan deal with what's basically the exact same situation. While Anakin went after Ahsoka, wanting to secure her safety before they proved her innocence; Obi-Wan trusted his Padawan, he trusted that Anakin would be able to keep himself safe and alive without him while he went above and beyond to prove Anakin's innocence. Obi-Wan succeeds where Anakin failed.

Harko and Elodore's force sensitive son, Toffen, is also out for revenge against Anakin, going down a dark path, so there's that extra threat. Dooku actually tried to save both Harko and Toffen from ending up dead, but fails and their deaths along with the fact Obi-Wan went straight to Elodore to prove Anakin's innocence showing her Ventress, Dooku's apprentice, messing with Harko's ship, completely kill any chance he had of being with the woman he loved. Which causes even more hatred towards Obi-Wan and Anakin, and towards Palpatine because later, Palpatine throws the whole "no attachments" thing back at Dooku for failing to ensure an alliance with Valahari all because of an old love.

I wish we'd gotten more arcs like this in the actual show.
