French people be like "let's make only 2 pronouns "il" (masculine) and "elle" (feminine) for only two genders and add just an "s" to those pronouns for plural usage instead of just making a version of "they" like the brits do (ewww), but also let's give every single nouns that exist one of these two pronouns because haha what's a pronouns that is for objects ? My brain has decided it is time to talk about random sylvaris so don't mind my random ramble. Spoilers but I don't go into detail.

Meet Áireamhán! (He/Him)

My most recent nerd. He is a ranger/druid. I don't have a very well-planned story for him as I don't plan to make him a commander. He is more just one to explore and draw or write about areas he's been in his little journal. That's how it starts but he later will join the Pirory and has to learn to pick up a sword fast. I'll add to his story as time goes on as I'm mostly using him to redo the story for Achiv so during that something will string together :P

He is a cheerful guy who's just happy to be here. Often lost in thought or scribbling something down. His people skills aren't great but he tries. He's stubborn and a major perfectionist. He finds himself in the company of animals more than others but he doesn't have an angry bone in his body. Well not that sylvari have bones but the point stands

Next, we have Maolmuire! (He/They)

Now I completely forgot I used the same face for Maolmuire as they are my most neglected sylvari- They're a Mesmer(I always change their spec)

Basically, I like the idea of the cycle after the attack while the Pale Tree was healing came out "wrong," so to speak. Their dreams are shadowed more like a glimpse into what their for instead of a clear story. They can come out with horns or claws or in Maols case wings and an out of shape arm.

Personality wise, he's curious but sneaky and a bit snippy. He feels the strange looks and glares he receives for how he looks, but he does not particularly care for them. He wants to know what the dream was trying to show him. He tries his best to do good, but in the end, there is this shadow he doesn't know or understand whispering to him. His is a very unserious plant. He never let what happened to him make them closed off they took it in their stride. They're chatty and witty but do tend to act before thinking. They struggle to take things seriously and can make someone's problem feel small without meaning. Don't go to them for therapy.

She is the champion of Aurene for my third commander who I am still to bring up Cuolr Wildreaker:

Cuolr met Elliu in the Vigil and they've been close ever since! Cuolr took on the commander role but Elliu was shown the vision of Aurene's egg and became her champion. Ellui is a very aggressive and secretive lady. She keeps her cards close and won't act before she thinks of just about every possibility. Everyone knows her as quiet Cuolr speaks enough for both of them.

Hi, I hope sharing neopronouns in different languages is okay !

In English, I mostly use they/them because I'm afraid to use my other set which is Xae/Xem/Zhir.

In my native language (French), I use Yl/lui, Xiel/ellui, Æl/lui. In reality it's a bit more complex than that because it's a gendered language so we have to be smart to use neutral forms and it can put us in danger.

In Italian I haven't found my pronouns yet.

In Occitan I use Elei.

no offense but you're misinterpreting my post

first of all im fiercely advocating for the use of a neutral pronoun and neutral language in french, provided that it's inclusive not only in regards to genders but also reading disabilities (which isn't the case with the current inclusive language with the median point etc).

this post wasn't about how i chose my pronouns but how i made peace with the fact that i won't be using they/them due to french, and tried to make something beautiful out of it. it's kind of a desperate attempt to make myself feel better about gendered languages, which make not only some non-binary people really miserable but also make it easier and more common for trans people as a whole to be misgendered

i am lucky enough to have found solace in linguistics and to be okay with this set of pronouns. but i am not a monolith of the french non-binary experience - kind of the opposite, actually. they deserve a set of pronouns that makes them feel the best, and a language that won't trap them into a binary that doesn't fit them, even if it means anglicisation.

"pick one, use both" sometimes doesn't work for folks, and that doesn't make them any less valid. they're neither and they want it to be known, translated into their preferred pronouns and into the way people gender them. and ill fight for them until it's widely accepted

i ended up liking how gendered french is solely because i can say that i want people to use he/him pronouns for me the same way they use it for angels, blood and blunts
