SOW turnout is up slightly over last week (+34, 966), while GOW turnout jumped by 384.

Press won by the closest margin I’ve estimated so far: about 1.35% of the vote (13 votes). She led by a more comfortable margin until the evening hours of May 15 thanks to a strong Rose Lavelle push. Lavelle outpolled Press 196-167 in the last 18 hours of voting—and Galton outpolled them both in the same span with 199, thanks in part to bumps from KO and Christie Pearce voting for her.

Press and Naeher got off to early leads—Naeher to a 150-vote lead within the first 4 hours—and neither appear to have trailed. Most of the drama was for 3rd place, where Galton/Yanez and Smith/Kopmeyer traded places a few times.

Fun folks showing up in the verified votes: Rachel Daly voting for Lavelle, Keelin Winters coming out of retirement to vote for Kopmeyer.

This is the first week of 2017 where no Orlando Pride players were nominated for either award.

Media voting hit a new low, with only two members of the NWSL Media Association casting votes.

Two Chicago players voted for Naeher (DiBernardo, Ertz). I didn’t see any players vote for Press, whose only verified vote came from her sports agent.

If the league counted Harris-related complaints to the SOW announcements, or people who voted HarrisSOW or AshlynHarrisSOW despite it not being an option, she still would have placed last (115).
