Another fun fact, the pod Thad travels in has an AI, which he coded to sound and speak like Lizzy. He misses his sister ok. Anyway. When he goes to a new universe, it’ll give a short synopsis of what’s different. I’ll use @wildlionva’s Mercy Drones and Mansion AUs as examples

Mercy Drones; “In this universe, the human scientists were actually smart for once and created an ‘anti-virus’ program called the Mercy program. You, along with Lizzy and Alice, have this mutation.”

Elliott's Mansion AU; “In this universe, nothing goes wrong in the mansion; you and all of your friends and family end up in the Elliott’s manor as well, and your LED colors determine the job you do in the manor. Haha, you have to clean up trash, idiot.”

Yeah she’s kinda mean. The length of these synopses will change depending on how complex the AU is. Here’s an example of a less complex, and thus, shorter synopsis using my Late Solver Sam AU:

Late Solver Sam AU; “In this universe, Sam doesn’t die because Uzi thinks he’s infected with the solver even though he isn’t because she’s an idiot. Turns out, yes he is.”

I can’t think of any AUs I can use to show how much longer the synopsis’s can get but. yuh. whips and naenaes

Time Traveler AU Thad’s cool time traveling pod has a bunch of decorations in it; meaning all the old stuff from his room. How did he get them?

He stole from other versions of himself. Nah I’m kidding. He found Universes where he either dies in it or is just never able to return to Copper-9 and then stole stuff from those. Though it was never too much, y’know, just to be sure. Yeah his morality is a little shot but y’knooow. Shit happens.

Also! The pod has like a “spectation” feature where he can select a universe and a person and kinda watch past events from their perspective. He doesn’t do it often because he knows it’s an invasion of privacy, but he did use it like once or twice on Main Universe J and V because its really hard to place wtf happened to make them the way they are.

These Were Mistakes. He has never touched that feature since.

SURPRISE IT'S A SWAP AU!!!

...kinda. These are their initial designs at the start of the series. So... Their pilot designs!

As always, rambling below the cut (as well as the cast in ep 2).

I love Dead Lmao. They're my favorite character.

AU PREMISE:

Swap AU but N, V, and J go to a private school. And the disassembly drones are vaguely bug themed.

UNORGANIZED THOUGHTS:

🔺 The private school Nexus, Virtue, and Julie go to has a very strict dress code. They enforce bleached hair, white eyes, a headband with their number on it, and a monochrome uniform. The only exception being that accessories can be any color.

🔺 NVJ are all orphans, and their school also doubles as an orphanage.

🔺 I'm gonna explain it in each of their solos, but I swear I have a reason for Virtue and Nexus' goofy ahh names LMAO.

🔺 Elliott manor and Tessa still exist, buuut things go a bit differently.

🔺 Not completely sure what Nori, Khan, and Yeva's roles will be atm, but they're going to be senior WDs at Elliott Manor.

🔺 You can probably guess who the solver's host is based on the color, right?

🔺 This is a swap au, but certain roles will remain the same (for example: J dying. Get blasted, idiot.)

Cyn - Creature/Furry AU - [Lore Post]

Worked at the Elliott Manor as a maid, was fairly shunned and often avoided by other Workers due to her appearance and clumsy behaviour. Often reprimanded by the Elliotts for her attitude and way of working, with Tessa encouraging Cyn & making sure she was kept on the estate.

Smaller than any of her siblings (who she does not know, sadly) or most Civets due to malnourishment during her younger years.

Tessa was actually the one to bring Cyn from the labratories she worked at into her home, as Cyn was being used as a "lab rat" for several testings due to her Albinism.

Cyn was the first and only person to come into direct contact with the sample of the "Absolute Solver", a mutated and self-aware Virus strain similar to Rabies or CWD (chronic waste disease).

Tessa brought the sample home in secret to hopefully continue working on cracking its code in her freetime, which is how Cyn found it while cleaning her room.

Due to Cyn's weak immune system the virus took hold of her fairly easily, nestling inside of her brain & being able to speak to her.

Thanks to the Solver's self-awareness of being a virus and its abilities it found the task of manipulating Cyn and using her as host to (hopefully) spread itself in the future fairly easy.

Over time, the Solver convinced Cyn that Tessa & her family were the Ones responsible for her being infected with the "sickness", convincing her to kill everyone on the estate on the night of a very important business meeting / gala event.

After wiping out the entirety of the Elliott family and their guests, Cyn fled the estate to Camp 98.7 where she hid and the Solver slowly started to mutate her body, taking inspiration from several animals and creatures in order to form the "perfect apex" for its plans.

The Solver deemed Cyn's fragile & rather weak appearance and demeanor as "not functional" for its plans, hence the rapid want to transform her. Using its abilities it had the upper hand and ability to change every aspect of the Civets outer appearance, almost shattering her mind while doing so.

What was left of Cyn during the story was... a chimera, all and nothing at the same time, made from parts the Solver deemed "useful" for the future plans it had on its mind. Horns for offense, wings to soar the sky, legs capable of running on both two and four legs, powerful jaws and teeth to kill, scales to protect the body - it saw her as imperfect, each change a desperate try to make her into something that could be deemed "perfect". Wielding the sword she had used to kill the Elliott family, she was ready to go to war for the Solver... albeit unwillingly. The Solver, appearing to her as a huge, grotesque hyena, was always there in the back of her mind (literally), steering her every move. It only allowed Cyn to move by herself when she was alone, often watching and belittling her for having issues to move and coordinate herself in this new body of hers. After the Solver arc and its destruction, Cyn was able to gain the upper hand over her mind - which took alot of time and help from other people (especially N and Uzi). She was capable of changing some aspects of her body "back" in some sense, however, alot is irreversible.

Was able to change her face slightly (removed the scaling on her snout, made it more cat-like with a more rounded appearence) & her ears rounder, similar to how they were as Civet

Made the wings way smaller as she dislikes them. Can't remove them entirely, but them being this small works. She hides them under clothes when she wears them.

Made her tail resemble her old one more with a more rounded tail tip & fluffy appearence.

Walks on both 2 and 4 legs, but due to her changed anatomy she involuntarily prefers 4 legs.

Whenever she walks on 2 legs she has to use the cane, as it's difficult for her to keep herself stable.

The Solver had used her body for so long that it became almost impossible for Cyn to act on her own - when she was possessed, it was like she was watching from a seat in her mind while the Solver moved her.

The first few weeks after her freedom was regained she almost didn't move at all without being told to or prompted by Uzi and N, not out of malice or to annoy them, but simply because she just... didn't know she had to move by herself. She was so used to someone else doing it that she forgot those instincts.

This also applies to her speaking - it was mostly the Solver speaking through her, so Cyn forgot her own voice and got kinda freaked out when she first heard it. Thanks to all the physical changes her voice also changed ALOT - from soft and timid to almost rasp, growly and deep.

Despite her looks she's still very timid. Way more extroverted than her former Civet-self, but still withdrawn from Strangers. When she first met Uzi properly she was kinda taken aback by Uzis extremely outgoing persona :']]

Bit Uzi once during an episode of flashbacks when Uzi assumed her to be conscious and came closer without warning, which resulted in Cyn biting off her arm (don't worry, Uzi gets a sick robotic replacement B]]) Uzi apologized profusely for the incident, while Cyn did the same for hurting her - fell in love at the first arm amputation /j

Found her confidence again thanks to Uzi dragging her along on her way to love herself.

Okay so Neon is the name that Tessa chose for N back at the manor (when they were all friends, but none of them could use those names since Tessa's parents didn't consider robots beings worthy of names) ANNNND of course, N (or Neon) WILL marry Uzi. And he preferred being called Doorman and not Elliott XD

But interesting and shitty names is something pretty common in the Doorman family. Mostly because Nori sucks with names (that's why Uzi is... Uzi) and Uzi sucks with names (I am not telling the names of the kids come on. Edit: they're Mara-means death, and Kris-that's a kind of dagger) and N sucks with names (he literally suggested Neon as his name) and Tessa sucks with names (J IS CALLED JESSICA BECAUSE THOSE TWO BITCHES LIKED POKEMON) and Khan sucks with names (he didn't even try) and J sucks with names (cuz she's actually a weeb) and V sucks with names (her favorite movie was and is "Veronica", a Romanian movie made in 1973)

Also his name is the reason why my au is called Glowing Future. Bcz neon glows??? Yeah I suck with names for aus, my utdr au is literally called Luci's Underwitch.

Fun fact: I like old movies. Kinda. I grew up with two or three movies, all made in my home country. If I'm not wrong and my memory ain't deceiving me, "Veronica" was one of them. But also, there was one which I forgot the name and another one called "Mama", which means Mom in Romanian. I recommend watching both the movies I said, because they're very wholesome.

This is ⏃ silly au ⟟ came up with called “Home”, basically ⏃ sorta what if/Separate au with G and Tessa!

When ⏃ bunch of strange humans were rounding up the worker drones, Tessa was afraid to let some of them go, she tried to snag N, V, or J and hide them away so they could hopefully stay with her in the manor and not go to wherever it was that they were taking the others, but she failed at that, with them at least, the only one Tessa managed to get was G, so she told her to stay somewhere they wouldn’t find her so she would be safe and stay with her, and so G obeyed and stayed put, and Tessa was right, they never found her, so there G stayed, free from the torment and manipulation of the company and staying under Tessa’s care until she eventually decided to upgrade her, she tricked the others into thinking G was ⏃ whole new drone that acted as friend for Tessa because she got very lonely at the manor often, despite all the parties and balls the Elliott’s threw there, no one was exactly the nicest.

So G stayed in the Manor and roamed freely, acting as Tessa’s bodyguard as well as her loyal friend, awhile later they probably went out to Copper-9 to see what was going on after Tessa found out where they had sent the others all those years ago but I’m not sure what would exactly happen then so it’s up for y’all’s interpretation ��� suppose :3c

Some James and Louisa hc's [mostly for the SB au]

James

• Youngest of the three Elliott brothers.

• James was the product of an affair between his mother and one of the company accountants after she found out that Sirius had been summoning demons in their backyard and had slept with Despina. He's the only one with brown hair.

• Surprisingly, James was the shy and nerdy one as a teen. He spent his time in the library- because books can't make fun of you.

• Never even dreamed of getting married. He knew his parents would set up Elric and Oliver with wives because they were pure Elliott blood, and he'd ruin the family's name.

• Fell in love with Louisa because of her personality and how confident she was. Elric wanted nothing to do with her as a wife, and only saw her as something his parents gave to him to continue the Elliott line.

• Half-blind due to a fight with Elric after he found out that Tessa was indeed James' child the night she was born. He's learned to live with it.

• Really good at swordfighting.

• Was forced to learn how to play the violin and can still play it. Tessa loves secretly listening to him when he plays in the courtyard.

• He doesn't know how to say it to her, but he's so proud of Tessa and loves her so damn much.

Louisa

• This woman wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with any of the Elliott brothers.

• An only child, she knew this fact would eventually lead to her getting married off, but she wasn't going to go easily.

• She was almost in a band before her parents sent her off to live with her future husband. Her mother, in a fit of rage due to louisa's defiance, shattered her guitar before she could take it with her.

• Hit James over the head with a book because he startled her while she was exploring the manor library. That was their first introduction.

• Louisa was absolutely terrified of Elric because of his temper and general attitude towards her. James made her feel safe.

• It was a surprise to no one when Louisa ran away from the manor in a fit of fear [and a bit of defiance] after an argument with Elric. "Early relationship bumps!" Everyone said! "They'll learn to work it out!" Sirius said!

What did come as a surprise was James disappearing around the same time, both returning from a hotel a few days later, and a child with auburn hair and green eyes being born nine months later.

• Both James and Louisa were terrified of becoming parents at first, but they very quickly got over that fear. James made a promise to Tessa the first time he held her that he'd never let anyone hurt her, and that he'd always do his best for her, and Louisa simply cried. This was her daughter and she was so little and she and James made her and she was absolutely perfect.

• They'd both originally settled on the name Odessa, but a mispronunciation led to Tessa, and it just stuck better.

So obviously Four is taking the role of Uzi, having inherited the solver from one of their moms. We’ve previously developed their storyline a little bit.

I’m thinking that I am going to go with Acht being the equivalent of Cyn even though that means that my gays won’t get to be together in this au. I can handle one au where they’re not in love. Probably. 

Okay, what if all worker drones were inklings and all disassembly drones were octolings? Then the octo army can function similarly to Elliott Manor.

I feel like Eight would be a good stand in for N. We can say that him and Acht were in the same squadron in the octo army and so they have a similar relationship as N does with Cyn. Also because shipping-wise Agent 32 is another one of my favorites so I don’t have to be too sad that I didn’t get dedfour because at least I can make Eight and Four kiss.

Marina can be V, having been in the same squadron as Eight and Acht. This is where the story is going to differ significantly from the storyline of MD. Marina defects from the army far before Eight or Acht enter the Metro, not wanting to fight the inklings anymore. She meets Pearl and lives her life relatively normally. At least, for a while. 

What if Neo was J? I’m starting to run out of Octolings but I think it can work. 

Jumping back to Acht for a minute so that I can give them backstory! After Marina defects, Acht begins to work less and less, not really caring after their friend was gone. Because of this, they get sent to the Deepsea Metro in hopes of disposing of them. There, they meet Tartar, who sanitizes them. However, during their sanitization something goes wrong, which results in the absolute solver being created. 

That’s all I have for now. I have no idea how the timeline for this is going to work at all. I also don’t know how Four’s mom is going to get infected with the solver, but I’ll find a way. There’s also a ton of characters who don’t have roles yet, and large chunks of the story that are missing, so I’m going to work on that as well.

Thank you for the ask!!! It has dawned on me that this au is going to require me to kill off characters. That is one of my weakness when it comes to writing, I can never bring myself to kill anyone off. I’ll try my best.

Interlude: Rampart Duty

QUICK NOTE: This is gonna be a little different from a normal chapter, which is something I've considered doing for a while now. While Taking Flight has Tari's character at the forefront with most adventures, these Interludes will help give some spotlight to other characters and subplots. The idea is to give readers a quick breather from the main plot with a more "slice of life" or "classic blooper" format. Some if these Interludes may tie in to future story beats and may even become jumping off points for future fics, but for the most part they'll be more self contained to give the reader a quick break from the main narrative while also further expanding the AU.

Either way, I hope you guys like it.

Not much is happening really. Bob is tending to the Void Material Farm, Kaizo and Melony are cooking up lunch, Saiko is absolutely SHREDDING it on Guitar Hero, and Meggy is getting in some target practice on the western ramparts with Uzi. Another Molded shambles towards the wall before getting its head blown clean off. Uzi plucks the spent shell from the action and places it in a pile before cracking open another soda.

Uzi: And that's 10. You'd think those military types would've had that place on lockdown.

Further west, a military perimeter has been established around where Elliott Manor once stood. A large mycelial mass has since grown over the foundation. Containment efforts are ongoing as Molded continue to arise.

Meggy: Yeah. They should be coming in with Flamethrower Crews tomorrow.

Another loud BANG sends a slug tearing through another Molded. Meggy places the spent shell in her own little pile.

Meggy: 17. Try and keep up.

Meggy reaches for the cooler and notices a small pillow fort fashioned out of sandbags. She walks over to take a look, lifting up one of the bags to see Kinger just sitting in there.

Kinger: GAH! Oh. Hi Meggy. Funny seeing you up here.

Meggy: We've........ been up here all day.

Kinger: Huh. I guess I didn't hear you guys over all the gunfire. Apologies.

Uzi: We got five more coming in!

A small pack of Molded makes their way through the brush as they limp towards the wall. Meggy immediately gets into position and takes aim. Another three shots from Meggy marks three more kills and three more shells in her pile. Uzi easily picks off the other two with little effort.

Meggy: You gotta keep your head in the game, Doorman.

Uzi: Hey! You try hitting something with buckshot from here.

They fail to notice one more Molded shambling up to the wall, managing to climb up the brick and reach the top.......... before being blown away and sent tumbling down with another loud BANG. The two turn to see Kinger standing in his fort with a double barrel in hand. He swiftly takes aim and manages to nail another Molded with a slug to the skull. His shots were on point.

Kinger: Best keep your eyes peeled. We have all sorts of nasty company coming in from the west.

They stand dumbfounded as he nonchalantly cracks open the chamber and loads a fresh pair of shells.

Meggy: Uh........ yeah........ Thanks for the heads-up.

Over on the east side of the rampart, Belle lights up a cigarette as she watches Steve and FM paving a new path into the woods below. SMG3 suggested making a nature trail to help bring more people to the showgrounds, which would translate to more potential customers for his Café.

X: Hey there.

X comes up the stairs with Minion hanging off his back like a Koala.

X: I heard you guys had a busy day over on the coast.

Belle: *chuckles* Tell me about it. Wasn't all bad, though. We made some new friends, and Tari even got a new toy.

X: I heard. I wonder where she's been. Haven't seen her all day.

Belle: She's off running errands with Ragatha and Saturday again.

He sets Minion down and joins Belle as they both look lean over the ramparts.

X: Kinda crazy, don't you think?

Belle: What?

X: Y'know. All this. Last time I saw Four, he still lived in Peach's Storage Room while Meggy was dragging Mario kicking and screaming to Splatfest practice. And don't even get me started on Three. It almost feels like yesterday when he stole the whole Kingdom's internet. Now Four has his own place, Meggy is a sports coach, and Three.............. I hardly even recognize the guy anymore. It's crazy how things change, huh?

Belle hadn't really thought about that. She had all but forgotten how much of a petty little s*** SMG3 was before getting sent to the Internet Graveyard. She looks back to the Airship docked over the Café. She can just barely make out Melony and Kaizo toiling away in the kitchen as if Gordon Ramsay was breathing down their necks. Her gaze turns to the courtyard where Boopkins and Jub Jub are playing around with Karen's kids. SMG3 is currently giving Eggdog a walk while Rob and Whimpu are over at Marty's grabbing a pizza. The sight as a whole brings out a warm smile, bringing her back to when she had a little crew of her own once upon a time.

Belle: Yeah. I guess we've all come a long way.

Minion wanders off as Belle and X hang out. She's exploring the walkway when she notices Zooble leaning over the side.

Minion: Oh, Pretty Shape Person! What are you doing up here?

Zooble: Just keeping an eye out with the Boy Scout.

She points down to Shroomy, who's currently having a rather heated discussion with Funky Kong.

Funky: I keep telling you, I'm just a humble arms dealer trying to make a living here.

Shroomy: I don't know, Funky. You caused an awful lot of trouble the last time we saw you.

Funky: That was over a year ago! I swear on my Great Granny's grave I'm not about that life anymore. Just ask Bob, he's the one I'm supposed to meet with.

Shroomy heads back inside, likely to meet with Bob so he can verify Funky's claim. Funky leans his back against the wall and impatiently waits to be let in. That's when Minion notices a black coated figure walking down the road. He inserts a fresh vial of Ether into a socket on his facemask.

Zooble: Hm......... black coat, wide brim hat, foreboding aura.......... I guess you must be Dr. Heilung?

The good doctor adjusts his hat.

Tödliche: I am he. Is Mr. Four present?

Zooble: Heh?

Tödliche: Blue hat? White overalls? Distinct presence on social media?

Minion: Oh, you mean my Dad?

Minion: No no, you must be mistaken. The man I've heard of couldn't possibly have a spouse from what I've heard, let alone any offspring.

Minion: He didn't need one. He made me with Uncle Mario's help.

Her answer got some raised eyebrows. It's evident that FM still needs to teach her about context. Thankfully, shroomy arrives to ease some of the tension.

Shroomy: Alright, Funky. Looks like your alibi checks out.

Funky: Ugh. THANK YOU.

Shroomy: Oh, hi Dr. Heilung! SMG4 was just asking about you. He's waiting for you over at the Café.

Tödliche: Excellent.

Zooble pulls the lever and the gates part. Funky is the first to enter as he heads straight for the Bazaar where Bob is currently tending to his stand.

Tödliche: Well, I be on my way now. Guten Tag, little one.

Minion: Have fun, Hat Man!

As the doctor heads to the Café, X comes rushing in from the east side.

X: Minion! There you are! I'm terribly sorry. She has a habit of running off.

Zooble: It's fine. To be honest, I could use the company with how dull things can get up here.

He picks Minion up and has her sit on his shoulders. She waves to Zooble as the two head back down. Zooble closes the gate and takes a seat. She can't help but chuckle.

Zooble: That kid REALLY needs to learn about context.

Hey so I just realized something... uh, awkward :D

Xane knows of Cyn right? Am I right to assume he isn't too fond of her?

Yep! :D Xane is not fond of her at all 😅

My AU does take place after Episode 8 of Murder Drones, and Cyn had basically managed to use Xane as a vessel and a puppet until she finds a new suitable/stable host and ultimately makes her return.

Xane had known Cyn as a worker drone in the Elliott Manor, but lost his memories after his reassembly to a disassembly drone.

Unfortunately, Xane does end up having hallucinations of Cyn, almost being haunted by her, and will every now and then, have his mind controlled by her sometimes 😅

Character info

Serial Designation CY-14 was made from the James Elliotts personal program to gain Worker Drones to replace his maids and butlers and served as one of JCJenson’s last attempt to try and get the Servant Class Drones in the eyes of the public which was actually a good idea from the Company. Cy-14 was given the nickname Cyn which was used by the drone during her entire time in the Elliott estate. Cyn went through a similar process that created the twins E and F along with the triplets I, J and K though she was made slightly after her sibling N.

Cyn was a very kind individual both professionally and personally with most drones who worked with her having nothing but praise though she did have the flaws with her core which reached alarming temperatures though this flaw was often ignored by James. Cyn was able to form a relationship with Serial Designation I which confused those who knew about him, her positivity seemed to better the narcissistic drone. Cyn was in a good position for convincing the public to buy the early Worker Drone but this was unfortunately not what actually happened.

Cyn worked under Serial Designation B before the Servant Class Drone line was discontinued permanently. During her time working under B she served under Serial Designation J along with V and N though she showed some issues before the Elliott estate opened its doors for the public but unfortunately these warnings were ignored. Cyn was responsible for one of the worst disasters that JCJenson ever had to cover up second only to their cover up of the loss of life on Copper-9. The loss of Cyn greatly affected the Drones in the manor especially those in the Higher Ranks being a cause for their resentment towards the Worker Drones later on. Cyn's fate is unknown to the Disassembly Drones though they see her death as motivation for their mission as the effects can be seen with a few of them. Her death being a motivator especially for I and A though Cyn’s influence was always close to them as she was not gone.

Stardew Valley Horror AU - Other Characters

Originally I wanted to introduce all the characters first and then write about their relation with Thad and Elliot in another post. But most characters here appear in the story because they either work with Thad or live in his territory, so I had to write this post while focusing on Thad and his family more than I planned.

Since I decided to remove Ginger Island due to being too aggressively cheerful and bright for my setting, I moved most of it's inhabitants deeper in the forest, where they are still isolated enough from the townspeople.

The Forest/Farm:

Pretty much the same thing since Thad's family owns most of the wilderness around Pelican Town. Due to the huge amount of land, Thad is aware that he can't control what happens in his domain so he lets anyone live/travel/gather resources here at will. He only tries to keep the areas around the main road and the town safe, and anyone who choses to go any deeper in the woods is on their own.

Still, there are parts of the territory that function like the in-game farm because the domain is gigantic and expensive to maintain. Although Thad will rely more on seasonal workers than do everything himself. Also, the farmhouse is a giant creepy manor now (and I'm still disappointed I couldn't actually find a mod that does this).

Grandpa: The farm is one of the most important territories owned by Thad's family due to how remote it is and the amount of magic flowing through it. Grandpa moved here after he retired as the family head, letting his son take his place. Thad's father had to give his attention to other parts of the family business and the manor remained empty for decades. Thad moved in a few years before Elliott's arrival to train his magical talents and prepare to take his father's place as the head of the family when he'll retire.

Grandpa is one of the many dead members of family buried on this property and one of the many ghosts haunting it. Elliott will probably see him in the manor (and the other ghosts) but won't know who he is. Might occasionally talk with Thad (him and other ghosts, especially other family heads, have a lot of opinions on what's going on and will hound Thad about them).

The Junimos: Live all over the forest and they are one of the reason Thad's family allowed the woods to grow so wild and dark. Maybe they act like invisible butlers? Elliott will notice that stuff moves around but he'll never encounter anyone?

Peaches: Lives with the other junimos but visits Apples often.

Apples: Weird junimo that was left in Thad's custody by the others for not knowing how to junimo properly. Tries to do good but fails often. The single main reason why every new territory or building that gets added to the domain becomes overgrown within months (Thad finds it hilarious, Andy and Sophia less so).

Rasmodius: Met Thad years ago when the later was taking his wizard exams. Thad was researching forest magic to learn how to deal with the vast expanses of woods and wilderness his family owned and his thesis caught Magnus's attention. After meeting a few times Thad agreed for Magnus to settle somewhere in Cindersap Forest. But Magnus is also tasked by the Ministry to keep an eye on what happens on the domain, and Thad is aware of that. They don't talk about it. They interact rarely and mainly stick to their own business, but occasionally one will visit the other with questions or for help with magical research. Will work together if there's some emergency happening. He's a point of contact between Thad and the Ministry.

Morgan: Just moved in with Magnus. Sometimes comes to the farm for a few days when Magnus needs to go somewhere or simply needs a break. Probably messes with Elliott a lot since he doesn't believe in magic.

Krobus: Doesn't live in the sewers any longer, since there's no reason to hide. Plenty of monsters roam the forests undisturbed already. Lives somewhere in the forest and visits Magnus and Thad regularly, alongside other residents. Krobus deserves friends >:( Will probably traumatize Elliott multiple times since he'll be a good way for me to make Elliott encounter a monster without putting him in danger. Gets along better with his kind, even if he's still considered kind of weird. Still a merchant, he gathers items from multiple sources and brings them to the people he visits to sell. He's a way for Thad to contact other shadow people.

The Dwarf: Still lives in the mines, but uses the abandoned mineshafts and subterranean tunnels to travel easily across the domain. Encounters Krobus more often but less likely to try and fight him since he's severely outnumbered. Sometimes has to take refuge from the shadow people in the buildings scattered across 'the farm'. Another potential Elliott traumatizer. Like Krobus he's still a merchant. Often hired by Thad for stealthy missions in town (deliver/steal objects, spy on people, check out some area etc).

Suki: Like in vanilla she's a travelling merchant that sells goods and contraband.

Birdie: Witch that lives in a small hut hidden in the woods and uses magic to protect herself. Elliott will stumble upon her while lost and she'll help him get back to the manor while offering him cryptic advice.

The Bear: Still friends with Thad (even if he lets other hunt in the woods and probably hunts himself)? But then again, so does the bear 🤔

The fairies/forest spirits: The other reason why everything is overgrown.

The Desert:

Mr. Qi: Family friend and business partner. Is involved in all sorts of shady stuff. Maybe less secretive and more likely to interact with other mages?

Sandy: Works for Qi now, since Thad will be probably too busy to randomly go to the desert now so I need a reason for her to appear. Acts as a messenger between Qi and Thad, or any interesting guest visiting Pelican Town. Visits Emily more often and helps her with items she needs for her magical business.

The Bouncer/Welwick: Probably won't appear directly, only mentioned.

The 'City':

Medieval style town? Won't appear and would barely be mentioned to keep the isolating feeling. For this same reason, Joja doesn't exists. Mainly a category for people 'representing' the political workings of Ferngill Republic in the game.

The Governor: Won't appear since Pelican Town is too separated from the more inhabited parts of Ferngill and he doesn't care enough to visit. Probably still stresses Lewis out.

Morris: Maybe a business partner for Thad's family that visits occasionally and lives at the Saloon in the meantime? Or maybe works for Thad? 🤔This way I could have Claire and Martin appear more often and while the forests are abandoned and overgrown the main part of the farm is still fully functional. Morris could act as an accountant or a manager of sorts? Keeps track of the selling data, meets other business partners, makes sure essential things are fully stocked, hires seasonal workers etc? Anyway, the fact that he doesn't live in the manor despite working closely with Thad will be a hint for Elliott that something is wrong.

Claire and Martin: Still work for Morris. Still overworked. Maybe they work in the manor? They would be some friendly faces for Elliott to meet occasionally.

Others:

Scarlett: Since it takes longer to reach Pelican Town from Grampleton she spends more time with Sophia when she visits. Or maybe lives with Sophia and learns wine-making from her?

Professor Snail: Works with Gunther but focuses more on fieldwork. Travels often in search for artifacts.

The Witch/Henchman: Probably won't appear since there are enough dangers for Elliott already. Might be mentioned by the villagers (although they are more likely to blame Thad for anything she does).

The other adventurers: Will occasionally visit Magnus or the Guild. Might rarely work with Thad? Depending on how much I can fit them in Lance might still befriend Krobus.

Edit: Just realized I could have Lance work with Marlon at the guild. Marlon will probably need the extra pair of hands. Maybe I could have Lance as a newcomer too? And occasionally write something from his perspective to contrast the way Elliott see things? Hmmm....

SVE monster lore hasn't changed much here, they are all still considered dangerous and should be killed on sight by the adventuring/mage community. Thad's family mainly uses dark magic so they work alongside the smarter monsters, which is why Thad is on friendly terms with the shadow people. Magnus also started to interact with them after moving in Cindersap but wasn't able to convince the rest of the community that shadow people aren't just mindless monsters.

While monsters are much more common in the AU, adventurers are a growing threat for them, so territories owned by Thad's family are considered a safe home by lots of supernatural creatures, which is why most characters in this post moved there.

Not sure what to do with magic. On one hand, the whole point is that Elliott doesn't believe in magic and monsters, but on the other hand that's difficult with SVE's lore. I mean, why would the Ministry hide? I could make the Ministry a newly formed organization that doesn't have any political power yet so no reason to become known by the normal people. It could explain why there are so many monsters around and why Thad's family can just ignore their decisions.

A/N: prompt from here! this is happening somewhere around chapter 4, and although it’s not part of the main plot, it’s still part of the same AU; it was just a way for me to play around with the characters and their personalities

Y/N cautiously steps into the kitchen, from where she can see Mickey yelling into his phone in the back garden. She makes her way to Ray as sneakily as she can, but it's impossible to surprise a man whose entire existence is based on knowing and being aware of everything. He shoots her a look, and she knows she's in trouble before he even utters a word.

"Should I come back after he's cooled down a bit?" She whispers, nodding to her brother who is now pacing and flailing his arms violently.

"I think you should be a big girl and just take responsibility." Ray says turning his attention back to pouring tea into mugs.

"Never." Y/N hisses, horrified. "Wait, but I didn't do anything." She reconsiders.

"We both know that’s tosh so I have a hard time believing you, because you're always the root of all trouble."

"DID YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS?!?!" Mickey's shout cuts through their conversation and Y/N winces, trying to hide behind Ray's form but the traitor just moves aside and leaves her in plain sight.

Mickey thrusts his phone into her face, a photo of what must be a countryside manor's wall. A huge graffiti procclaimed in red that HIS TINY LORDSHIP DRINKS PISS FOR BREAKFAST AND HAS A TEENIE WEENIE DICK. There's even a small cock crudely drawn in place of the i's dot.

"Surprisingly, no, but god I wish I did." Y/N chuckles. "Is this Lord Elliott's house? He does have a tiny dick. And he's a piece of shit so he must've seen it coming. Did his wife finally found out he's been cheating on her and spending her inheritance at poker?"

Both Mickey and Ray look at her incredulously. None of them knew any of the things she's just mentioned, but then again, they’re not surprised she made it her business to know the petty gossip that's running around the aristocracy.

"Ha, betcha feel real stupid now, doncha Ray baby?" She sticks out her tongue, but he just rolls his eyes and sips his tea.

"I'm just going to call Lord Elliott and try to find out what the fuck he's been doing. I need to sort this out quick before the idiots decide to jeopardise my farm just because he likes to stick his dick in places he shouldn't be."

"I'd suggest you call his wife, dear brother. He's a complete idiot. And the house will be hers if they divorce, so you'll have to deal with her from now on, not him. She also likes Campari a lot."

"What the fuck kind of monster are you?" Ray whispers under his breath.

"Raymond, get your shit together. I want you to grill your girlfriend all day until you find out everything she knows about the Elliotts's affairs." Mickey points between the two of them as he moves towards the garden again.

"I'm your sister first and then his girlfriend, you fuck!" Y/N shouts after him.

"No, you ain't in this house. You're Raymond's responsibility now that he’s fucking you." He shouts back.

"Ew, stop saying responsibility! Gross."
