"There were state dinners, tiaras and meetings with politicians and members of the public alike; a small taste of what King Charles might also expect during his time en France. Here, ahead of the reported trip, Tatler looks back at some of Her Majesty’s most magical French moments."

NOISEMAKER of the Week
The death of Queen Elizabeth II is being mourned in Britain and across the world. The country’s longest-serving monarch died Thursday at age 96.
"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” the palace said in a statement, referring to the queen’s summer residence in Scotland.
Her reign traversed wars, a pandemic, and the winding down of Britain's vast empire and was the longest for a British head of state in history, a tenure that included the administrations of 15 Prime Ministers, 14 U.S. presidents, and 7 popes. The Queen's death comes seven months after she marked the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor wasn’t born to wear the crown. The future queen took an unexpected path to the throne as a child, after her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated and her father was proclaimed King George VI.
Throughout her reign, she won almost universal praise for her abiding dedication to the oath of duty she promised. Just two days before her death, the Queen accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson and greeted the leader of the Conservative party Liz Truss, the new Prime Minister, at Balmoral Castle and invited her to form a government in her majesty's name.
With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, her first son Charles ascended the throne. Buckingham Palace confirmed Thursday that the new monarch would be known as King Charles III.

The British monarchy and the mass media have long existed in symbiotic relationship. The royals benefit in popular opinion from the sentimental rubbish the tabloids spew forth on an almost daily basis.
On the downside for them, the media can turn rogue when it promises to boost their profit margins. For the tabloids there is no downside. Stories about the royals sell, toadying or tacky. Harry blames the media for Meghan's miscarriage. Accurate or not, it wouldn't be the first time media coverage made royal lives miserable. Rail against it all you like. Nothing is likely to change.

This weekend is the 86th anniversary of when King Edward VIII signed his Instrument of Abdication so he could marry Wallis Simpson after being told by the Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin that she would never be accepted by the people of England as Queen given that she was a twice divorced American woman thus making him His Royal Highness the Duke of Windsor and her the Duchess of Windsor despite the fact his brother the now King George VI refused to grant her the title Her Royal Highness. With her death on September 8th, Queen Elizabeth II was the last person alive who had any memory of that historical event which changed her life forever as a 10 year girl because she went from being Princess Elizabeth of York to being Princess Elizabeth, heiress presumptive and first in line to the throne upon the accession of her father to the throne. In hindsight, we should thank Wallis Simpson for Edward’s abdication because Elizabeth probably would have never gone on to have her 70 year long reign if he hadn’t abdicated. #ukroyals #britishroyalfamily #wallissimpson #wallissimpsonduchessofwindsor #kingedwardviii #edwardviii #edwardviiidukeofwindsor #dukeandduchessofwindsor #kinggeorgevi #abdicationofkingedwardviii #georgevi #princesselizabethofyork #dukeofyork #elizabethii #queenelizabethii #elizabethalexandramary #elizabethalexandramarywindsor https://www.instagram.com/p/CmBTVBuuqAi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A ROYAL NIGHT OUT (2015) A Royal Night Out is a British historic film about Princess Elizabeth (the future Elizabeth II) and her sister Princess Margaret who ventures out of Buckingham Palace to enjoy the VE Day celebrations. In real life the princesses did secretly party with the crowds anonymously. They left the palace within a group of 16 people at 10pm and returned home at 1am. The rest of this film is fiction, whilst Elizabeth wasn’t the most interesting person; she always had interesting people and events surrounding her. Light entertainment, not the type of movie you would want to watch more than once.
Sarah Gadon (Eliabeth), Bel Powley (Margaret), Rupert Everett (George VI), Emily Watson, and (Queen Elizabeth).

“The Sussexes are following a long-standing royal tradition in compliance with the 1917 GeorgeV convention by choosing to style their children as Prince & Princess. The Cambridges had to have ElizabethII issue an exception to the rule to style their kids as Princess & Prince because as per the convention their spares would've only been entitled to these titles once the grandfather ascended. One couple is following the rules, the other couple wanted and received special treatment for their kids” - Submitted by Anonymous

that one time the British and Russian royal families met up in the 1800s because they are actually closely related (for modern-ish royals) so you can completely fuck up both England and Russia mid-Industrial revolution.
It was the Romanov patriarch and ElizabethII's father I think who looked very alike....idk it's been a while since i learnt this fun fact.
I want you to think about this as a writing exercise, not a poll about your personal morals/politics.
So imagine you find a crashed time travel attack drone. It's got enough fuel left for one last trip: you tell it when and where, it warps through time, and now it's got about the equivalent firepower of an helicopter gunship.
So you could shoot a person, a crowd, level a smallish building, take out an entire meeting room, sink a boat, crash a plane, or blow up a car.
Where, in all of time and space, do you think would be best to send this thing to change the past?
I was sorta assuming "for the better", but if you just want to see the world burn, feel free to suggest chaotic options.
Any ideas where you'd best us this power? I mean, the obvious one is blow up Hitler. Maybe fire on the Beer Hall Putsch? That'd get him and much of the Nazi leadership as well, and all before Hitler got national headlines.
But I'm wondering if there's was a meeting sometime in history with a bunch of particularly bad people where you could take 'em all out at once for a better "return on investment".
