One trope that will never not made me not go feral is when it's a interspecies relationship and a (usually tiny) human goes defensive mode over their non-human partner.

Like, that scene in Beauty and the Beast right before the Mob song when Gaston calls the Beast a monster and Belle gets so mad and just goes "he is not a monster, YOU ARE!" with the most offended face expressions ever

Or a similar scene in Monster in Paris where Lucille goes "there sure is a monster in Paris but it's not him it's you" while using her whole body to shield Francour

Or that scene in Shape of Water where they are trying to break Amphibian Man out and that russian doctor walks in and Eliza just instinctively shield AM, no hesitation

And just how offended Charlie got when someone disrespected Bumblebee. "He is not a weapon" and "HE IS MORE HUMAN THAN YOU EVER BE!!!" while kicking and fighting a guy twice her size. Girl was standing on business

Just an imagine of a tiny human girl protecting her non-human, tall AF boyfriend. Love it

A genre film such as "Ash" should be better than it's predecessors. "Alien" came out almost fifty years ago. "Ash" isn't topping "Alien". Hell, "Ash" isn't even topping erotic films in the parasite parody department - and that goes for acting and visual effects. At least the cast of "Ash" looks they had fun on the set. That's the best thing I can say about Shudder's first foray into space. I would love to see a fellow L.A. native like Flying Lotus win, but I'm not going to give out undeserved awards based on familiarity. FlyLo spent more time on curating a top flight OST than in actually directing the film to go with it. And as for Jonni Remmier's script, last I checked R. Scott Adams still owns the rights to "Slingshot". I dont care how cute Eliza Gonzalez can look in a semi - crop top while her pulse pounds in her ears for the audience to hear, for nearly the past thirty years I've seen many women do better with the same Ridley Scott source material that again is as old at least by half a century. The excessive gore might have gotten "Ash" it's distribution deal from "Shudder", but that's about it. Again, pornographic parodies with the same subject matter operate better as standalone films without all the blood & guts.

The cast appears like their cutting bad wrestling promos when they are not killing each other. I could focus on the cool colors the same way I could focus on the way Eliza tries to look sexy in those crop tops but I'm not five or that much of a partialist.

Superfan's Short Movie Reviews: "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare"

It's nice to see Guy Ritchie continuing the great tradition of World War II action movies. This may not be the most historically accurate depiction of the true story it tells, but that's not really what it's trying to be. This is an explosive, funny, action-packed piece of entertainment with a cast that's about as fun to watch as the mission their characters undertake. As far as a movie like that goes, you'll get your money's worth. I certainly did.
