OMG!! Alright. What about a fic where reader and Elinor are exes and while Elinor was the one who broke things off she’s mad that reader is back in town and has moved on from her apparently. Reader is a vampire too btw!
-🦕
sorry this took so long…I was…in the shower…
Games
a/n: pour one out for First Kill 🥲
pairings: Elinor Fairmont x Reader
warnings: alcohol, blood, a hint of angst
————
Elinor stumbles through the back door of her favorite bar into an alley. The girl in her arms squirms and giggles as she’s pressed up against the cool brick wall.
“You’re so pretty,” the girl swoons. She’s very drunk, Elinor pretends to be just as sloshed.
“I know,” Elinor laughs, she kisses the girl sweetly and runs a thumb across her bottom lip.
“I don’t think this is your color, doll,” Elinor pretends to pout, “red might be, though.” The girl doesn’t have a chance to react before Elinor sinks her fangs into her pulsepoint. She’s so precise when she feeds, her eyes close and she hums into the poor girl’s neck while the blood rushes into her mouth.
“Get a room, we were here first,” Elinor pulls away from her victim in a haste and looks for the threat, she finds you instead.
You’re busy with a girl in your arms as well, she’s not looking so good.
“Y/n,” Elinor straightens up, limp body still in her arms.
“Elinor,” you tip your head in her direction and she scoffs, “don’t mind me, just having a snack.”
“Here? Of all places?” She drops the girl in her arms and steps closer to you.
“My little cousin got her first kill, ceremony’s tomorrow,” you set down your victim too, “I also wanted to see that look on your face,” you flash your shit eating grin and Elinor can feel steam coming out of her ears. It’s been over a year-and-a-half since she broke up with you. She hasn’t seen you since. You look good, there’s no denying that. But you also look happy and that irks her to her core.
“Going out of your way to find me at my hunting grounds seems a lot like fan-behavior,” Elinor tilts her head with a smirk, “miss me much?”
“Actually, I was meeting someone.”
“And who might that be?”
“Some girl,” you shrug, “she looked cute enough on her profile. She’s calling an Uber out front, figured I feed now so I don’t accidentally rip her throat out when I bring her back to my hotel room.”
“So, you’re a lady killer in every sense of the word,” Elinor narrows her eyes at you, “cute.”
You just laugh while she rolls her eyes.
“Well, this was fun,” you tease, posing your victim next to a few empty bottles, “until next time, Elinor.”
You walk off towards a pair of headlights before Elinor can retort. She lets out a long huff and takes care of her victim before stomping back inside the bar.
----------------
The ceremony was already buzzing by the time Elinor arrived.
Juliette sees you before she does and tugs on Elinor’s arm, “isn’t that-”
“Don’t,” Elinor bites, “I need a drink first.”
“I didn’t know she was back in town.”
“Neither did I,” Elinor says with a growl. She doesn’t make a move to approach you. She watches how you bounce around the guests like a new life was breathed into you. It seems like you’ve been getting on just fine after the break up.
“You’re not gonna talk to her?” Juliette’s brows furrow in concern.
“What’s there to talk about? I ended things with her and that’s that,” Elinor says with a shrug and grabs her clutch purse. She makes her way towards the bar and orders the strongest drink her brain could conjure up.
--------
The ceremony is just as boring as Elinor anticipated. The only reason why she looked like she was paying attention was because she didn’t want her eyes to travel and accidentally land on you.
Now she’s shooting daggers at you while you bury your face into some girl's neck on the dance floor.
“What are you staring at?” Juliette doesn’t need to shout, but she’s past the point of tipsy and has never been one to handle her liquor as well as her big sister. Elinor grips her sister’s chin and turns her head until she can feel Juliette hum through her fingers when she finally sees you.
“She looks happy,” Juliette slurs.
“I know, I hate it,” Elinor lets go of her sister’s chin and sighs, leaning further against the railing in front of her.
“You looked like that when you were with her, you know,” Juliette gives her sister a look that makes her eyes roll into another dimension.
“Why did you break up with her, anyway?”
Elinor watches you for a long beat before finally turning to Juliette, “it was the right thing to do.”
“That sounded convincing,” booze makes Juliette fluent in sarcasm, it seems.
“Come on, let’s go home,” Elinor heads towards the exit with Juliette in tow.
“I bet she’ll be gone by tomorrow and you’ll never have to see her again, at least for a while,” Juliette is still slurring, with a dopey grin on her face that makes Elinor laugh for the first time since she bumped into you.
------------
Elinor is shooting daggers at you again, in her home of all places.
She forgot about the dinner party her mother was hosting this weekend until Juliette had asked to borrow her lipstick a few hours earlier.
Now she’s all dressed up and has to bite her tongue every time she sees you and your date. Elinor knows the girl on your arm, she belongs to a semi-prominent clan somewhere in the midwest. You probably just asked out the first girl that gave you any semblance of attention.
Surely you’re still hurting, right?
Elinor tries to keep her distance, blending in with everyone else. Even sticking around Juliette and her friends. She thinks she can fly under the radar for the rest of the night until her parents pull her from the crowd to say hello to you.
“Y/n, so nice of you to join us,” Margot greets you with a warm smile, her grip on Elinor’s arm is anything but.
“Thank you for having us, Margot,” your smile is just as bright as it always has been, “Elinor, good to see you,” you say smoothly.
“Always a pleasure,” she quips, eyes rolling between you and your date who tries not to look so uncomfortable.
“We’ve had a few renovations since the last time you were here,” Sebastian adds, “Margot finally let me get that driving simulator and putting green I kept yammering on about.” He lays a friendly hand on your shoulder and Elinor has to chew on the inside of her cheek while you beam at her father.
“You’ll have to show me, hopefully you’ve improved your game since then,” you say with a laugh. Margot shakes her head with a smile and squeezes her daughter’s arm before letting her go. Elinor quickly makes her escape without another word. You only watch her go for a split second before walking in the other direction with your date.
----
“You’re just gonna hide out here all night?” Juliette shares a giggle with Ben while Elinor tries to kill them both with one look.
“Hide, plot, run away to live amongst the werewolves, anything at this point that would keep me out of mother’s iron grip and out of sight from my douchey ex.”
“I know you’re usually dramatic but this is borderline oscar-worthy,” Elinor whips her head towards Juliette who throws her hands up quickly in surrender before tugging Ben along with her far, far out of Elinor’s reach.
Elinor only stays as the guest of honor at her own pity party for a few more minutes before ultimately deciding her makeup looks far too good to be wasted within the confines of her room. She reapplies her lipstick before heading out the door and down to the festivities with a strut that would make even the devil shiver.
--------
Surprisingly, Elinor doesn’t see you for the rest of the night. She takes this as a sign of victory and heads over to her favorite bar for a drink, alone.
“I figured you would be here,” she hears your voice and it takes everything in her not to crush her glass on the spot.
“And I figured you would be somewhere knuckle deep in your date by now,” Elinor spins around to meet that shit-eating grin you always save for special occasions.
“We actually did that before the dinner party, I like to be efficient,” you wink and Elinor scoffs.
“But you don’t like to have taste it seems,” she sips her drink, “a Fenton, really, y/n?”
“The Fentons have much more noble roots than the Davenports, if you really want to play this game,” your head falls to one side in annoyance while Elinor just shakes her head.
“You don’t get it.”
“Get what?” You take a step closer to her and she straightens up before taking another sip of her drink.
“It wasn’t you, it was never about you.”
“Then who was it?” Your eyes don’t leave hers and she knows you will stay here all night without even blinking if it meant getting the answer you probably needed to hear a long time ago.
“Hunters crashed Juliette’s ceremony, dad was about to kick the bucket and I was the only one who could save him,” Elinor says so simply it takes you a minute to catch on before she starts talking again.
“The Davenport boy didn’t seem so bad, he was kind of cool actually. He made mom laugh and I figured I could tough it out to build an empire of my own so big we would have to part ways eventually.”
You lean back a bit, it doesn’t take you long to put together the pieces.
“Oh, Elinor.”
“Don’t do that.”
“You did what you had to do.”
That makes Elinor hold your gaze for a bit before looking away. She bites her lip and slowly nods.
“You could have just told me, you know?”
“You would have waited for me,” Elinor downs the rest of her drink and motions to the bartender for another.
You open your mouth to say something but it dies in your throat.
Because she’s right, you would wait.
You did wait.
Elinor heaves a sigh as you take the seat next to her, ordering a drink for yourself.
“You know,” you said between sips, “deep down, I think I knew.”
She watches you fidget with the glass between your fingers, “you had this look that didn’t match at all with what you were saying to me.”
Elinor chews on her lip, her poker face closed its  tab and left a while ago. She feels a burning behind her eyes that she hasn’t felt since that night, fuck.
“You wanted to save me too,” you say just above a whisper. Even in a bustling bar, your words were loud and clear in Elinor’s ear. You watch her jaw clench and you take a moment to pay both your tabs. It’s enough time for Elinor to collect herself and hold her head high like nothing happened, of course.
“Wanna get out of here?” Your voice is soft and cautious.
“What about Fenton?”
“I was just a decoy date, she doesn’t want her parents to know her current girlfriend is a mortal.”
Elinor furrows her eyebrows and there’s that fucking grin again.
She smacks your arm, “asshole.”
You pretend to flinch before holding out your hand. She takes it with ease and is quickly reminded of how well her hand fits in yours.

hello!! could you please write elinor fairmont x fem reader? hope you have a nice day :)
More Locations Than Pages
Tumblr media
Pairing: Elinor Fairmont x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1777 words
Warnings: FIRST KILL SPOILERS!! Fight description
Author's Note: This definitely could've been better, sorry anon :(. I used way too many time breaks. Anyways, thank you so much for the request! I hope you have a good day too!!
University was stressful — every single part of it. Even though you were in your sophomore year, the homesickness and constant pressure to succeed were still both as bad as they were freshman year. You valued the independence you received as a result of going to an out-of-state university and living in a dorm all alone, but there’s nothing you missed more than having your parents to go to when things got too stressful. You definitely didn’t adjust to that change during your first year here, and based on how you’ve been feeling recently, you probably won’t adjust to it during your second year, either. This university lifestyle was what you predicted to be amazing for your wellbeing, but it seems to be the complete opposite.
Your parents putting you under the impression that your grades were the only thing that mattered about you is the main reason university has been so difficult for you. Even after being moved out of their home for two years, the mindset they pushed on you for your entire life was obviously still very prevalent. The thoughts became so familiar to the point where you'd probably feel worse without them. There's a huge chance that your grades would decline, too. If your mind isn't constantly degrading you for every point you get off on an assignment, or telling you that you can put off your needs for a bit since you need to study, would your grades even be above a C-? If you gave up the rigid and intense habits after years of practicing them, what will that mean for your future? While abstaining from that lifestyle would give you answers to those questions, you simply don't feel ready to — at the moment, at least.
You stared at the empty document on your screen. What was supposed to be the first page of a paper with a seven-page minimum was nothing but a piece of digital printer paper that's been sitting in a printer for three weeks. Yep, you've had the last three weeks to write this entire paper. Sadly, for you, the paper was due tomorrow morning. It was currently 11pm, meaning you had twelve hours to write seven pages, which was absolutely impossible for you. You sigh and place your head onto your folded arms that rested on your desk. Your tired eyes glued themselves to the wood of the desk that lies right before them. The heaviness of your eyelids is quickly lifted at the sound of your phone going off. You raise your head from your arms and grab your phone. You reposition yourself into a less lazy seating position as you read and exchange messages with your girlfriend, Elinor Fairmont, or as you call her, Ellie.
———
hey can you come over to my place? it's urgent
sure, i'll bike over. see you in 5
love you. stay safe!
love you too!!
———
You grin as you turn off your laptop. Grabbing your mini backpack from the spot on the floor next to your desk, you stuff your laptop and its charger into it. You zip the top zipper closed and toss both the straps onto your shoulders. You approach the door of your dorm, open it, and lock it the moment you get out of the doorway. You make your way through the empty hallway, humming to the tune of a song that's been stuck in your head as you do so. Once you finally reach the exit, you push the door open and walk straight to the bike rack that rests next to your dorm building. You grab a key down from your pocket and unlock your bike. You walk it away from the rack and hop on the seat. You then start your route to Elinor's house, a route that's practically engraved in your head.
*****
You knock on the door of your girlfriend's house, laying with the straps on your backpack as you wait. You watch as Elinor runs down the staircase and towards the door. She grabs the doorknob and pulls the door open, waving you inside. The look on her face and her fast paced body language alarm you, as the reason she invited you over must've truly been urgent. She walks you up the staircase and pulls you by the wrist into her bedroom, seating you on the bed next to her.
"What's wrong? You seem to... panicked." You ask, concern starting to fill the newly-formed pit in your stomach.
"You're going to hate me." Elinor sighs, a worried smile plastering onto her face.
"I could never hate you, pretty. Just please tell me what's wrong so I can try to help."
You weren't lying. Ellie was perfect in your eyes, and there was truly nothing that could change that. You'd loved her for only a year and a half, but it felt like longer. The memories you two shared were similar to ones of true soulmates — which is where it seemed you and Ellie's relationship stood. You took your backpack off and placed it on the floor next to your feet, not breaking eye contact with Elinor as you waited for her to answer.
"It's a long story, but, basically, I got in a fight with these two guys and one of them tried to stab me but actually ended up stabbing the other guy. Juliette found my lipstick at the scene so she thinks I was the one who stabbed the guy. She stole my storage unit key and now she's with our distant brother Oliver and his girlfriend doing God knows what."
Her entire statement broke your heart. Knowing that she had gotten in a fight with two guys without you there to make sure she was alright was nauseating. The last thing you would want for Ellie is for her to get injured, or, in this case, actually stabbed. You couldn't imagine finding out the news, or even worse, watching her die. You felt one of your eyes fill with tears, which you quickly blinked away.
You and Juliette had always been on pretty good terms. Though you two didn't talk much, your shared conversations about dating girls were always enjoyable. That said, the attempt she was making to ruin Elinor's life with a murder accusation turned you away from her instantly. You couldn't believe that your girlfriend's own sister would do something like this. In fact, this whole situation was unbelieveable.
"Do you think Juliette and your brother will call the cops or something?"
"God I hope not." Elinor replies, plopping down onto the pillowed end of her bed as if she was getting ready to sleep.
"Do you want to get some sleep?" You ask the blonde, following her footsteps in laying down.
After seeing her nod sleepily, you pull the duvet over your two bodies. You bring Elinor closer to you, her head burrowing into your neck. You rub her back slowly, as you two doze off, cuddled against eachother.
*****
What sounded like hundreds of police sirens outside of the Fairmont house woke you up from your sleep. You blink a few times to adjust to the light before slowly removing our arms from Elinor's embrace. You get up from the bed and look out the window, seeing only the edges of red and blue blinking lights. You run back to the bed and stand by Elinor. You bend your knees a bit to get on her level before shaking her body lightly and whisper-shouting at her to wake up. It takes you about five shakes until her eyes started to open. You let go of her for a moment so she could wake up. Once she started to sit up, you pointed at the window as a way of silently showing her what was going on.
"We have to get out of here." You say, reaching your hand out for the tired girl to grab. She obliges and uses it to pull herself from her bed. She walked you both towards the window and let go of of your hand to open said window.
"Hop out, slide down the roof, and meet me down there.. we can run into town and hide, it's just down that hill over there." Elinor cried, the panic starting to settle into the two of you.
You nod at her and wiggle your way through the window frame, falling onto the slanted roof shortly after. You then slide down the roof and onto the grass, your back being the first and only part of your body to take impact. You sigh at the pain as you get up to stretch and wait for Elinor to follow you. You see the girl nervously make her way out of the house right after you. You back away a bit and watch as she slides down the roof and onto the ground where you stand. You reach both of your hands out for her to use to help her get up. You give her a quick peck on the lips before grabbing her hand and guiding the two of you towards the glowing lights of the city.
*****
After what felt like the two of you had run three marathons to get to the city, you rested on a bench to catch your breath. Elinor's head rested on your shoulder as your synced breathing began to slow down and return to a normal pace, similar to your heart rates. The tranquil silence you two had shared for who knows how long helped with your bodies going back to relaxation. Your minds have both slowed down too. The raging thoughts became less speedy and it was easier to come up with an escape plan.
"Do you, um, want to go get a room at that hotel down the street?" You asked your resting girlfriend.
"Sure, can you carry me, though?"
"The things I do for you." You roll your eyes and wrap your arms around your girlfriend to pick her up. You stand up and readjust so you can carry her bridal style. Before you start walking, Elinor pulls you in for a kiss that was well needed for both of you. You stay kissing for just a few moments before she pulls away. You stare into her eyes before pulling her into another kiss.
"That's the suspect!" A man's voice calls out. "In that woman's arms!"
You and Ellie pull away and look at the cops then back at each other. You start running down the streets of Savannah, Georgia with your criminal girlfriend in your arms and a seven-page paper you hadn't even started.

Tumblr media
—The air humid, mist hanging thick in the air, two figures stand behind a jam packed SUV with suitcases almost bursting through the back. Their hushed tones are hurried and their banter tense with the situation at hand. For so long they’d been controlled and living in the image of their families legacies for so long, the thought of leaving seemed impossible until now.
“It’s not gonna fit. We’re going to have to leave it”.
A heartbroken sigh leaves the lips of one of the figures as they nod, a tear sliding down their eye.
“Yeah I know…Let me just get everything out of it first, please? If I can’t bring the entire thing, I-I want the pictures and jewelry”.
“Of course. I’m sorry, love” Moving the others hair from their face, they kiss their forehead before giving them a moment to mourn the loss of their most beloved possession.
The music box had been the last thing Y/n inherited from her real father, the only Fairmont she knew that had never cared much for the entire traditional vampire thing, he wanted her to live as her true self and had no qualms of showing it; It’s why he left. She didn’t know specifically where he’d gone but he’d left her the music box with letters, pictures, and jewelry. He kissed her forehead, and made her a promise.
For the longest, she’d cherished that music box as the thing made her remember she was different from her controlling family members whilst hoping to one day break away and search out that promise her father made her.
The music box meant the world to her, and it was the reason she knew she had to leave.
The pink and golden box was indeed not a small music box, her mother would scoff at the sight of it everytime she entered girls room. At first it was only snide remarks, pettiness that reminded her of her mother’s narcissism and simply why her father had to leave her behind.
When she met Calliope, it had turned from smart remarks to a tool of abuse for her mother and golden child of an older sister. They at first only threatened to take it away if she kept seeing Cal —something she took with a grain of salt, until that day.
Being caught with your forbidden girlfriend was bad, but being caught with your forbidden girlfriend by your controlling abusive narc of a mother, and your yes man of a sister? That was worse. They’d dragged her home, sat her down, forcing her to watch as Elinor took your music box and berated her as she sobbed for hours, begging for it back.
“Hey, I’m sorry we had to leave it”. Cal squeezes your thigh in comfort. You looked out the window, trying to will yourself not to cry. Not in front of Cal, you thought. You knew why you had to leave it, but nothing comforted you more than the nights spent listening to the music whilst going through pictures of you and your dad.
“We had to. I know we had to. I’m just…I stole it back just to leave it, Cal.. That’s the last thing of my father I had” She sniffs, mumbling against the sleeve of her sweater, “We had to leave our phones, we had to work for this. I’m fine”. You told her, mostly reminding yourself in a hushed mantra.
~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~ + ~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~
I remember clearly when hunting went from being my favorite thing to the most dreaded part of my days. How I longed for my first kill, to rid the world of what I thought was evil. I had never considered it wasn’t as black and white as I thought until I met Y/n. The battles between good and evil had now become a line I felt both sides could cross, and it I saw it be true in ways that terrified me. The vile, greediness of a hunter seemed just as bad as a vampires greedy lust for blood —I, now, saw more than a cause in my families eyes; they were thrilled to be killing and could do it with a smile, yet the monsters we fought were the evil ones.
When I met Y/n, it was all so clear. I looked in the mirror and I saw a greed in myself I didn’t like. A bloodthirsty evil that had been instilled in me since I could walk. As young as 2, I could walk into a room and see weapons and trinkets from old huntings. Souvenirs of a kill. The day I cheered with my family after killing someone else’s (no matter the species), I knew I couldn’t live like that anymore. I couldn’t live knowing killing was something for me to cheer about.
I had to go.
“Do you ever wanna do something besides hunting”?
Truthfully, after she’d outed Y/n and I to my parents, I didn’t understand why I was asking Tess this. She valued hunting more than anything in this world, and I knew this would raise red flags to her but…Maybe that’s why I said it. I knew soon, this would be the end.
Her eyes shot up from her phone and I could feel her judging me, reminding me I was an outcast in my own family.
“Not this shit again. They killed my parents, Cal. Open your fucking eyes —They’re monsters”.
But were they? Or were they just trying to survive?
I fiddle with my nails, mumbling to myself, “But We were trying to kill their family too…”
I could feel Tess’ eyes burn a hole through me, and I knew she’d probably run and tell my parents, my brothers —I no longer cared.
~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~ + ~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~
Before the day we left, Cal and I had been planning for months. We barely got to see each other but we’d meet up once a month to secure things for the day we’d leave. We had to get jobs to pay for new phones because ours were too easily tracked. We had to buy new wardrobes so our rooms would be left untouched. We started decorating an old cabin my father had, one not even my mother knew about.
I’d spent so much of my life feeling different than my family; taking blood pills to feel normal, to not take my cravings out on the innocent. My family wanted to be monsters, they wanted the thrill of killing humans —Especially Elinor.
I had to fight for my spot in the light, always in her shadow, being compared to her was something that made me the insecure shy girl I am currently. Elinor was my mothers doll, shaped into the image of her own reflection; she could do no wrong, but I could.
The fact I didn’t want to kill was laughable to my mother, and she let me know it constantly. How shitty a legacy vampire I am.
I needed to be a monster or I was a failure.
In the eyes of Calliope Burns, however. Me not being a monster was something I should take pride in, to be proud of. I could be me with no judgement.
It had never been so easy to choose to run away with someone.
After 22 hours of driving, you and Cal finally arrived at the cabin. You knew your family would be aware of your disappearances by now, and you wondered if your mother or Elinor would even care —Or would they be happy that the weakling was gone? The one who tarnished their legacy with her disdain of tradition?
Similarly, Cal wondered of her mothers reaction. Of her dad and brothers. Of Tess. Would they be relentless in finding her or would they finally let them be?
Snapping out of her thoughts, Cal is confused when she sees a figure on the porch of the cabin —tapping Y/n.
“I know you’re not still sulking about that…hunter. We have someone much more suitable for you to meet, and they’re your own kind”.
“Yeah, baby sis, and I know how much you like girls. Picked her out myself”.
Margot and Elinor open your room door, expecting to see you still sulking about your little girlfriend, and plenty ready to mock you for it. Forcing you to do what they want once again.
Instead they found a white envelope on your bed, neatly wrapped in a golden ribbon.
“W-where is she”!? Talia’s voice trembled, looking at Tess with eyes watery and her voice quivering.
Tess flinches, holding up a note to Talia who shakes her head, immediately knowing. Guilt rushes through her as she begins to read.
“I love you. I love you mama, I love you dad, and I love Tess, Apollo, and Theo. That said, I couldn’t stay. I couldn’t feel truly human in a family so happy and willing to kill without thinking twice. Swearing it’s on moral grounds based off closemindness and a rivalry that started long before my birth. I’ve watched and participated in savage killings, saying it’s to protect humanity while grinning and taking souvenirs. Killing others families under the guise of protecting mine. Truth be told…Neither side is innocent, but Y/n is. Y/n makes me happy. Y/n isn’t a monster, and you all can’t seem to understand that —The more you control my life, the more I’m pushed away. I believe in not judging others before seeing their heart…At least that’s what you taught me, mama. Right? Keep an open mind?
You won’t be able to find us, and I suggest you don’t. I’m not coming back unless changes are made…I can’t keep distorting my reflection in the mirror for a legacy I never asked for. I want to feel my humanity again —Let me be human again.
I love you.
-Signed, Calliope.”
Talia finishes reading aloud for the family as a tear drips down her eye. The air is thick, and there’s a moment of silence before Theo speaks.
“Well!? Come on we have to find her”!
Grabbing the keys, there was a commotion as everyone left for the car. Begrudgingly, Talia follows with no hope in her heart; knowing her daughter like her own heart, she knows it’s futile to search.
They won’t find her.
~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~ + ~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~
Y/n looks out the window in disbelief. It couldn’t be. Nearly falling out of the car, she runs up to the figure with tears immediately falling down her cheek.
“P-papa”!? You throw yourself into his arms to which he holds onto your tight, kissing your hair.
Cal watches in happiness. She hadn’t seen your smile since you’d gotten your music box taken that night.
“Hey Little Dove”.
I stared down at the paper in disbelief, the Fairmonts had a strong, all powerful family that dealt in dirt and blood whilst hidden in plain sight. I had to push Oliver out after seeing what a weakling he was —But Y/n? I had to admit, although she was weaker than Oliver, I had a soft spot for my “cute” baby sis. She couldn’t harm a fly let alone finish her first kill in time for the ceremony. Ever the goody 2 shoes. I didn’t expect this, and by the look on our dear mothers face; neither did she.
“Elinor. Gather the others”. Mothers demands usually fell on deaf ears when it came to our relationship, but I could tell she was serious. So I did.
I scowled. Betrayal. First we’d lost Oliver and now Y/n was rebelling because of that hunter thing. I knew she couldn’t handle this, from the moment I’d given birth to her. From the moment Greg left and that god awful music box became the equivalent of a stuffed animal to a toddler for her.
“Hi mother, Elinor. I hope this finds you well after I’m gone. I don’t want to be found. I’ve been belittled and controlled in this family long enough. Time and time again my pleas of living a normal life seemed to go unnoticed —Forced to mask myself as the monster you molded Elinor into. Your little golden girl.
Truth is, I’m not a killer. I don’t want to go down the path you and this family have taken with horrible reasoning of it being tradition. For so long I’ve put on an act to please and obey you; smiling and trying my hardest to be the legacy vampire you wished I would be.
I know why my father left. I bet you thought I didn’t. Do you remember the night he left? You scolded me for coming home late, and the next day you found me listening to the music box…You looked disgusted with me. I could never forget that look.
That night dad took me to the lake, we had a picnic and watched the stars —He read to me one last time, and then he broke the news. How you tried to mold him into the husband you so desperately wanted for the validation of your mother. The source of how your narcissistic personality came to be, no doubt.
He told me everything, made me a promise, gave me the music box and dropped me off before he’d disappeared.
From the time I was a toddler you’ve controlled every aspect of my life, compared me to Elinor, and drained me of the happiness I once knew. I was your doll, I filled the place dad had left purposely. You always did pride yourself on being nothing like your mother —You ARE your mother. You’ve transferred the abuse she gave you and sent it back to me tenfold. You’re that monster you always wanted to avoid turning into, Margot. How does it feel?
How does it feel to know you’re just like grandmama? That I left because I couldn’t stand being in that house with you anymore? With you and Elinor? Whose just the same as you and grandmother.
Try to find us, and you’ll regret it.
Give my regards to grandma, oh wait… Well. Have Sebastian tell her for me.
-Your Loving Daughter, Y/n.”
There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that she’d be back, groveling at the feet of the Fairmont family to give her another chance. I should’ve known she was a weakling.
Just. Like. Her. Father.
~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~ + ~•~~•~•~~•~•~~•~
Spending time with my father was like the old days, he’d promised to come back and now that he was here in the flesh, I had so much curiosity in my heart.
He played candyland with Cal and I and seeing him get along with her was the most beautiful view. For once I felt as if I was in a space of comfort where I could be myself without worry of judgement and the nitpicking of my every choice. I still felt the bitter sweetness of being away from my family, however. A tug in my chest that kept telling me I needed to go back; I was happy for once. Happy to be away. Yet the guilt ate at my soul like a buzzard to a Bambi’s corpse.
My dad saw the look on my face, and asked Cal to give us a moment. For the first time in years I sat in my dads lap with my head cradled to his chest —I was his little girl again, to be protected from the harshness of this world.
“Did I make the right decision, Papa”? I asked meekly, looking up at my father, no doubt still seeming like an 8-year-old in his eyes.
He sighed.
“Bubble. I made a promise to you, you made a promise to me. I promised I’d come back and you promised me to never end up like your mother, her mother, or her sister. It was sooo hard for me not to scoop you up and take you with me, but I never stopped watching over you…Protecting you”.
My ears perked up in confusion, looking at him with my eyebrows creased in confusion. He nods in return, booping my nose like old times.
“I was always near, watching to see the young woman you’d become. I knew you’d never turn into them, sweetheart…It’s not you, and I am so proud of you for that. I saw you’d found Cal and knew it only a matter of time before it was time for me to hold up my end of our promises; getting to witness the new you in reality? That was all I needed”.
I could feel my eyes watering, I could feel every emotion from sadness to anger at the world coursing through me —all I ever wanted was my dad to see me now and say he’s proud of me. I sob into his neck, leaving a mess of tears and snot on his shirt. He rubs my back and says the five words I’d been aching for.
“I’m proud of you, Bubble”.
You see forbidden love stories and wonder when it’s your turn. You sit around reading the novels and daydreaming of something you think is impossible. With you and Calliope went through reminded you that it was the two of you against the world.
“We made the right decision, right”?
Cal chuckles, tilting your head to look at her, smooshing your face in her hands and pressing a kiss to them.
“The fucking best”.

If the girls are to ever end up together, this breakup had to happen. This run was plagued with decisions that so evidently showed what they are. Teenagers.
There is so much history between the Legacies as vampires and The Guild as hunters. Navigating a dynamic where they could co-exist before they could even be together is a tough gig and it’s going to take a lot of control and maturity to get there.
Now add the fact that Theo is now a vampire and is with Oliver, the situation is so much worse. The girls need to be away from each other for now to unravel all this history and angst.
Calliope needs to be able to reconcile how she views vampires now, especially with the Theo situation, with how she was raised. Her conversation with Tess makes a lot of sense because technically, with the exception of Elinor and Oliver, The Fairmonts aren’t really out to hurt anybody. And as a teenager, even as mature as she is, I don’t think she was prepared to have her entire belief system rattled by falling in love with a “monster”.
Juliette needs to grow out of this almost obssession like view of Cal and her because when Cal is hurting about Theo, she still brings up her and Cal together which still makes sense because she is a teenager. Her adoration of Cal doesn’t need to change but it’s been rash decision after rash decision with her everytime Cal is involved, which not Cal’s fault at all. Accident it may have been, Juliette messed up. And she still needs to confront that. She diverts the liability to Elinor when she has no idea how the situation went down; that Apollo had tried to milk Elinor for information and Theo got impatient and got involved.
So yeah, complex plot points aside, the Cal and Juliette breakup was inevitable and was very well done because it highlighted exactly why they can’t be together just yet.
i loved the calliope/juliette breakup. do i love that they broke up? definitely not. i’ll always choose happy lesbians over sad lesbians. however, if they had to break up, i couldn’t be happier with how it happened. here’s why:
typically, in my opinion, screen breakups are just irritating because they’re not done well. that’s why most people don’t like angst; so often it’s just for the sake of it. either one person does something completely unfathomable (and usually out of character), it’s used a plot point, or there’s a made-up conflict just to get a catalyst down. it’s sad, but not satisfying, confusing, and just plain frustrating. but NONE of those tropes were present in this break-up. it was complicated, real, and you could see the perspectives of both girls.
every time i think about the break-up, i start with wow, juliette REALLY fucked up, but then i remember that she was just trying to help however she could; her humanity and her compassion has been beat into us for the last eight episodes. but then i remember that theo hates vampires, that a vampire killed his mother, that, yes, juliette turned him into the one thing he has been programmed to kill. but juliette’s intentions were good. that cannot be debated. she’s heartbroken over what it means for him, but she did what she did with nothing but love and desperation in her motives. but that doesn’t change the way it’s hurt the burns family. but it also doesn’t mean that it’s juliette’s fault. and on and on and on.
this breakup hit all the reasons that i like angst. it furthered the plot, it developed each of the girls as individuals, it was logical, heartbreaking, completely in character, it called back to all of our favorite happy moments throughout the season, it didn’t feel abrupt or rushed or nonsensical, you could understand each of their perspectives, and honestly? whether they get back together or not, which i hope they do, every single outcome makes a lot of sense. the writers managed to create one of the most sound breakups i’ve seen in a long time while also not digging themselves into a hole for s2 in which there’s only one logical end result.

@onlyshestandsthere omg you're so right. i really want to see juliette really come into her own as a vampire, because even if she doesn't develop a specific power like elinor, there's still stuff elinor does (she seemed to have some kind of superspeed at certain points and a lot of the time vampires have increased strength as well) that i really want to see her do. like i want to see them fight, but i want it to be a total vampire fight.
also making either jules or cal forget each other... Pain. it'd be such good angst, and especially since they're broken up the other might just thing they're being given the cold shoulder or ignored in some way. i feel like that'd either lead to refusing to forget each other cuz power of love blah blah blah OR the other one trying to figure out a way to overcome elinor's powers, which could have some interesting implications for... everyone tbh, the burns because of theo and the fairmonts because of oliver's whole "actually elinor brainwashed you all" that we never really got a solid answer about
when elinor gets out of jail and goes after juliette and they have a massive no holds barred fight... what then

AMAZING!!!
hello!! could you please write elinor fairmont x fem reader? hope you have a nice day :)
