WIP INTRO - NOTE TO SELF: MURDER COMPLICATES THINGS

PITCH -

If you'd told Adrian joining a chess club in his freshman year of university would lead to him getting roped into solving the murder of his crush's ex, he probably would have believed you, because nothing would delight the gods more than making his life into a proper joke. He didn't even like chess.

THEMES/FEATURING - lgbtq+, autism rep, best friends to ???, humorous narration, dealing with grief, unrequited (?) love, complicated family dynamics, self-discovery (and self-denial), love expressed through domesticity

SYNOPSIS -

When Adrian first enrolled in university, he had a plan to drop out three months in. Enter Cillian, and there went the plan. Was it a little pathetic all it took was a single charming boy to smile his way for him to fold? No. It was a lot pathetic. Cillian was everything Adrian was not - smart, most obviously. Terribly unfunny (which almost circled back to being funny). Reserved, but weirdly unrestrained. And so completely unaware of his effect on people (Adrian) that it was genuinely painful at times. Ah, and of course - extraordinarily private. Now, Adrian had no problem with that. Or, he hadn't, until Cecile, Cillian's girlfriend, showed up on their apartment's doorstep. Well, that's one way to get fucking friend-zoned. Life went on, Adrian convinced himself he was completely and entirely fine with being just friends, and all was well until-- Until Cillian and Cecile broke up. Until, days later, she went hiking and fell. Death always seems so far away until it's not, and although Adrian is as unprepared to be the emotional support as a door might be, he's nothing if not determined to give it his best shot. Only, he quickly finds out Cillian needs a whole different kind of support. He's convinced Cecile's death wasn't an accident and is set on finding the (potentially non-existent) culprit. And although Adrian is less prepared to be a detective than a fucking door, he's nothing if not absurdly devoted to his completely casual best friend and all his needs.

EXCERPT -

“Vera she first met online,” Cillian said, tapping on the first girl’s, a pretty blonde's, picture. “And Eline is her podcast’s co-host, and she… uh… I don’t remember,” he murmured, and his face twisted with a sudden dismay. “How can I not remember that?” “I barely remember where I met my own friends,” Adrian rushed to say. He opted to not comment on Cillian’s use of the present tense there. “It definitely doesn’t matter here, anyway. She had a podcast, you said?” “Yes,” Cillian said slowly, as if his voice struggled against him. He swallowed. “About true crime. She was… quite passionate about it.” “Oh, huh. She probably would’ve loved all this, then,” Adrian said with a vague gesture at the wall, and, as it’d become too common lately, immediately regretted speaking. Instead of snapping at him, however, Cillian let out a choked sort of laugh. “Oh, yes.” He rested his forehead against the wall, closing his eyes. He breathed, once, twice, until it caught in his throat. “She would never forgive me if I didn’t solve her own case.” When he looked at Adrian, such rawness and desperation swam in his eyes it momentarily paralyzed Adrian. “Do you understand?” Yeah. He thought he did. And the realization only invited forth a whole new wave of dread. Cillian wouldn’t just give up. He wouldn’t just grieve through it, until the ache receded enough for him to think clearly again. To be himself again. He wouldn’t let go until he figured this puzzle out. But if the puzzle didn’t have an answer…

Notes: this is so entirely different from the rest of my works lol. I'm a fantasy girlie, that's what I'm most comfortable with, and yet, this idea has rotted through my brain, and thus I must entertain it. sometimes, you need to give your brain a break from all the worldbuilding and politics, and just write about something domestic (or, as domestic as solving a potential murder can be lol). I haven't ever written a story with the purpose of exploring my own experiences, so that's also new for me x)) anyway, I'm unsure where this will take me still, but ya know. it's the journey that matters anyway:D

So, lately I entered this loop of hyper-fixation with movies that portrays good representations of queer relationships.

I haven’t even watched most of them (cause I’m a really busy girl💅🏻) but anyway I wanna share my personal list cause I’m a kind soul (no I’m lying, it’s just cause I want honest recs so I know if it makes sense to see them or not lol)

1. But I’m a cheerleader

“Megan is an all-American girl. A cheerleader. She has a boyfriend. But Megan doesn't like kissing her boyfriend very much. And she's pretty touchy with her cheerleader friends. I love cute ships between people who didn't have an easy life, and I didn't miss the opportunity to make this type of ship with Elin and Ford, that's how FORLIN was born.

They met thanks to Hector becoming friends with Dipper and Mabel, Elin was definitely very curious about Ford during this time but Ford wanted to keep his distance because 1) he wanted to focus on other things and 2) he hadn't interacted with a normal woman for years so he was afraid of looking strange in front of this sweet lady.

Although sooner or later they ended up interacting more when Hector began to spend more time with the pines, they both began to talk about the children and the strange things in the town, this made them start to be friends.

Now talking more in depth about the relationship!

Elin may not be as brilliant as Ford but she is the voice of reason (or the heart) when he needs it, she is something like the moral compass.

Elin often feels insecure about being a good mother but Ford often reassures her with facts about why she shouldn't doubt her motherhood since after all escaping a toxic relationship and taking her children to a safe place to start over already makes her a phenomenal mother.

They are both touch starved and a little nervous about it but Elin usually takes the initiative with the touch.

Ford is the more protective of the two, not only because Ford is generally like that with his loved ones but because Elin usually freezes in the face of fear or danger (especially if said danger is her ex) so Ford takes the initiative to protect her.

Amo los ships tiernos entre personas que no tuvieron la vida facil, y no perdí la oportunidad de hacer este tipo de ship con elin y ford, así nació FORLIN.

Se conocieron gracias a que hector se hizo amigo de dipper y mabel, elin definitivamente sintió mucha curiosidad por ford durante este tiempo pero ford quiso mantener su distancia debido a que 1)quería centrarse en otras cosas y 2)no había interactuado con una mujer normal por años por lo que tenía miedo de quedar raro frente a esta dulce doña.

Aunque tarde o temprano terminaron interactuando mas cuando hector empezó a estar más tiempo con los pines, ambos empezaron a hablar sobre los niños y sobre las cosas raras del pueblo, esto hizo que empezarán a ser amigos.

¡Ahora hablando más a fondo de la relación!

elin no será tan brillante como ford pero ella es la voz de la razon(o del corazón) cuando el lo necesita, ella es algo así como la brújula moral.

Elin suele sentirse insegura sobre ser una buena madre pero ford suele asegurarle con hechos sobre porque no debería dudar de su maternidad ya que después de todo el escapar de una relación toxica y llevar sus hijos a un lugar seguro para empezar de nuevo ya la hace una madre fenomenal.

Ambos están hambrientos de contacto y algo nerviosos al respecto pero elin suele tomar la iniciativa con el contacto.

Ford es el más protector de los dos, no solo porque ford en general es así con sus seres queridos sino porque elin suele congelarse ante el miedo o peligro(sobretodo si dicho peligro es su ex) por lo que ford toma la iniciativa para proteger a elin.

WolfBahn Ship Summary - Part 3

A Realm Reborn - Patches

Part 2 - A Realm Reborn I realized the comics are... a lot. So I decided to make a short summary of my Wolfram x Raubahn ship. As I started to write I realized it was also... a lot. So clearly WolfBahn is simply... a lot. Eh, this is still way less to read than the comics, enjoy.

After defeating Gaius van Baelsar and helping the Scions set up the Rising Stones, Wolf turned his focus to the conflict in Ul'dah. He often found himself worried about how Raubahn was handling everything given how awful his political opponents were. After a particularly upsetting Syndicate meeting about the Doman refugees, Wolfram decided to throw away professionalism and asked his former partner on a treasure hunt in the Cieldalaes in the hopes of lifting his spirits. The General was surprised by the invite almost as much as having someone express care for his emotional well-being. It was an increasingly rare occurrence to be treated as a person instead of a legend. 

Fighting together on Hullbreaker Isle without thought for alliances or politics Wolfram and Raubahn fell back into familiarity with ease. The thrill of adventure for its own sake was a treat for them both. Between battles they were able to talk openly and quickly felt themselves becoming confidants. The alliance continued after returning to the mainland - often discussing things that they probably shouldn't have like the Warrior of Light revealing everything the Scions were up to and the General discussing Ul’dahn political strategy. Wolf even tried to convince him to invade Gyr Abania, but was receptive to Raubahn’s concerns. Despite the disagreement, the gladiator enjoyed being around someone who reminded him of his younger self and helped re-ignite his passion to pursue his goal of freeing Ala Mhigo with more urgency. 

Their budding friendship wasn’t always easy. Wolf often had to keep his feelings in check, like the jealousy he felt when he learned Ilberd and Raubahn had grown up together but had never mentioned him and (after using his empathic abilities) that Raubahn still harbored complicated feelings about the Crystal Braves captain. He had to remind himself that his ex-partner’s past was none of his business. Nor was his present. Wolfram was lucky to be in his life at all.

The General was as unaware of Wolfram’s affection as much as his own growing romantic attachment. Intentionally unaware. Forgiveness was one thing but there was an amount of denial when it came to Raubahn acknowledging he cared deeply for someone who had lied to him. He paid little notice to just how often the Warrior of Light’s responsibilities seemed to take him to Thanalan over the other city-states. Still, Rau couldn’t deny the little spark of joy he felt on the occasions Wolf was in town - even if it was to simply share a meal while discussing their respective factions.

After The Ivy's betrayal was revealed, Wolfram stayed behind to talk with Raubahn, knowing he'd just lost one of his best friends and would be more upset than he appeared. The mage explained that he'd used his empathic echo on her before and while at the time he didn’t know why - she had been conflicted. Eline did truly care for Raubahn and the betrayal hadn't been personal. The General took comfort in knowing that their friendship at least had been real but asked in frustration if he was naive. If no one was who they claimed. This was hardly the first betrayal he’d faced. Wolfram felt horrible for being among that number and realized it was time to properly apologize for his own deception that had been a catalyst in the end of their relationship. Rau tried to stop him, stating that he meant in his career but the mage carried on. He assured Raubahn that he'd changed and could be trusted. Wolf promised Rau that he would never deceive him again. If he wanted - he had a friend in him. The gladiator was amused that Wolfram would question if they were friends. Raubahn laughed and gave the Warrior of Light a hug, pointing out that he'd trusted him enough to follow him into the countryside without armor. They were *officially* friends again!

That night, Raubahn thought about the fact that the Warrior of Light neglected his duties to comfort him and apologized for their past as well. Despite everything the Scions asked, Eorzea’s Champion had put the gladiator first. He thought back to their hug - how comfortable and… complete he’d felt in that moment. Raubahn finally acknowledged to himself that he still loved Wolfram. The General *of course* wouldn't tell him that. He was still struggling with his pride and assumed his affection was one-sided besides.

From then on they talked more frequently. Raubahn even made an excuse about joint training with the Crystal Braves in order to visit Wolf in Mor Dhona as he was recovering from fighting Nael van Darnus. The gladiator also aided in the fight with Bahamut since Midgarsormr had removed Wolfram's Blessing of Ligh. When they were in battle together they fell into sync perfectly. In those brief moments, they felt like true partners again.

ARR ends with the events of the Bloody Banquet. It was almost as traumatic for Wolfram as it was for Raubahn. He was stopped before he could heal the Sultana, bound, and drug to the banquet to be framed for her murder. All he could do was hope that everyone would trust him enough to not believe it... and then all hell broke loose. Wolf tried to get out of his bonds to help the General fight so he struggled until his wrists bled. Without the Blessing of Light he was helpless to do anything but watch as Raubahn was maimed. Wolfram cried out, begging Ilberd to spare his friend and promising that he would confess to any crime they wanted to pin on him, fully expecting to be executed. Fortunately, Raubahn came to his senses and freed him. He left on orders to help the Scions but promised he'd be back. Along the way, Wolf watched with horror as his newfound family forced him to continue on as they sacrificed themselves to aid in his escape.

Once Wolf reunited with Alphinaud he wanted to go back into the city to help whoever had been captured. He was in such an emotional state after everything that he would have likely died trying to fight all the Brass Blades himself. To stop him from returning to Ul’dah Pipin had to knock him out and throw him in the carriage. The mage woke up in Camp Dragonhead with aching wrists and the voidsent cruelly taunting him, quickly blaming himself for everything that had just happened. Wolfram vowed to kill Lolorito and Illberd at the first chance he had.

1. if you had to describe yourself as a mythical/fantasy creature/being, what kind would it be & why? • This question literally took me the longest to answer! I think I've finally came to a decent conclusion after all of my research 🦄 A unicorn! I often feel like a unique creature most folks aren't familiar with, yet most are jazzed to have encountered me 😁

2. what is a scent that reminds you of a happy memory? • The smell of sunscreen always brings me back to happy memories of being on vacation somewhere with my family.

3. did you have a favorite book/series as a kid & do you have a current favorite? • I was an avid reader of the Fear Street series of books by R. L. Stine. Although it wasn't a series in the sense of having a set group of characters followed throughout the books, each novel was always such fun and perfectly creepy. The Snowman, Lights Out, Wrong Number, Cheater - so many awesome reads! 📚 I have quite a few current favorites: Thr3e by Ted Dekker, Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand, and Ex-Heroes series by Peter Clines.

4. where do you feel the most drawn to: the forest, the mountains, the sea or the desert? • I'm torn between forest and mountains; ideally, a forest in the mountains 🌲⛰️

5. do you have a comfort movie(s) for when you are sad? • Moonstruck (1987), Clue: The Movie (1985), and Midsommar (2019) are some of my go-to comfort films 💖

6. what are five things you love about yourself? • My communication, compassion, sense of humor, smile, ability to make people feel comfortable around me.

7. what food/dish could you eat everyday & never get tired of? • Literally nothing fits this restriction 😅 No matter how much I love a food/dish, I will inevitably get sick of it if I eat it too often 🙃

Ik I joke about Shoei's egregious love life but I'm not kidding aka a masterlist of who, when, and how long Shoei dated a woman*

*this is not all of them

Tsumi Kibuichi: #1. Met in their first year of middle school/junior high and dated up until their sophomore year of college; so they dated for 7 years. It was actually her who broke up with him but he refuses to admit it. Probably the longest he's ever been in a relationship pre therapy.

Selena Gutierrez: #2. Had a few of the same classes together then started dating two weeks after Shoei broke up with Tsumi. Only lasted five months.

Elin Taylor-Blake: #3. Had one class together and started dating literally a day after Shoei broke up with Selena. Didn't even make it to a month.

Senka Kotomi: #4. Debatable if she counts since she was using him as a beard when she was a closeted comphet lesbian. He was very bad at that job since people immediately clocked her tea plus she ended up cheating on him with a girl (which ultimately made her come out).

Mio Iruma: #5. Met at a party not even 24 hours after Senka cheated and ended up sleeping together after said party. Dated for two months before he cheated on her with the next ex.

Sigourney Blackwell: #6. Sigourney had a crush on Shoei for a while and was delighted when she got to meet him at a local bar during spring break. They dated for a mere three days. She wasn't aware he had a girlfriend and when she found out, she ran away from him. She's hated him for it ever since.

Hikaru Sawayama: #7. After being dumped by both Mio and Sigourney, Shoei decided to focus on himself and his career like a normal person who has had six failed relationships up to this point. Unfortunately it would only lead him to his next victim: Hikaru. She was an upcoming jrock star and him an up and coming duelist, perfect fit. Hikaru will be the first to admit that it was a publicity relationship. They dated for a year and a half before breaking up. Unfortunately for Shoei, he ended up catching feelings after they broke up. When he went back to try to ask for a second chance, Hikaru moved on.

Kamala Singh: #8. Kamala, poor girl. She was genuinely in love with and interested in Shoei; but he was only using her as a rebound. They dated for a year. Shoei broke up with her during their one year anniversary by not only not showing up to the party but leaving her a letter that admits she was just a rebound.

Mami Kibuichi: #9. Met in Las Vegas at a casino and hit it off right away. They dated for two and a half years and were actually engaged until Shoei realized that his fiancee was the triplet sister of his very first girlfriend. He broke up with her by not showing up to the engagement party and returned his ring.

Tsubaki Chisaka: #10. This was the closest Shoei ever got to having what he did with Tsumi. When Sabrina Carpenter wrote "Please, Please, Please" she had these two in mind. They privately dated for three years before, once again, Shoei messed it up and broke up with them.

Michiru Noro: #11. The queen of toxicity herself. She broke this man more than his father could've ever dreamed of. They dated for just five days before Michiru called it quits and the whole time she was using him and manipulating him for her own pleasure.

The title makes it sound like a self-improvement guide, but it's actually about Snowdon's findings after studying nearly 700 elderly nuns and their experiences with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Now I'm making it sound like a bummer, but it's actually a fascinating, often uplifting read! I highly recommend it.

One Two Three, Laurie Frankel - A gift from my sister, thank you Cara! The story is told from the perspective of three sisters living in a small town that was destroyed by the local chemical plant; nearly everyone has cancer(s), birth defects, or dead parents. The most unbelievable detail is that the town was redesigned to be accessible for all of its wheelchair users—I wish we lived in that kind of country! I read this book shortly after the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, and......the government should pay for all of the residents to relocate and they should also cover their medical bills.

Purée de patates douces, il ne va pas bien, et refuse de faire quoi que ce soit. 🎶 Ça m'énerve 🎶.

J'en parle, parce que même si je ne l'aime plus d'amour, je sais que c'est un type bien, c'est le père de mes enfants forcément 😀, ça me fend le cœur de le voir dans cet état.

Je sais parfaitement que lorsqu'on est au fond du trou, on n'est pas objectif. Moi même ne le suis pas du tout lorsque je m'exprime ici, je sais que mes propos sur moi sont passés à la moulinette de l'anxiété. Du genre personne ne m'aime alors que j'en ai eu deux preuves hier 🤗. Mais ça je ne peux le voir que quand "ça va". Je comprends que ce soit difficile de voir le positif.

Mais ça reste très difficile pour moi aussi d'encaisser certains propos.

"La seule chose de bien c'est Eline et on la détruit". D'accord. Donc exprimer ses émotions négatives c'est être "détruit". On n'est pas sorti de l'auberge. Et c'est hyper sympa pour Rémi de penser qu'il n'est pas bien hein. Je pense profondément qu'il n'a jamais accepté l'autisme de son fils. Et que ça le fait souffrir. Mais, bien entendu, tout va bien 😮‍💨

Non mais sérieusement, oui, ok, j'ai envie de rester avec les enfants, mais je pense sans arrêt à ce problème là aussi, et à ce que je pourrais faire pour ne pas te spolier hein. Parce qu'après toutes ces années, figure toi que j'aurais pu prendre les enfants sous le bras et retourner chez mes parents et réclamer ma part. Surtout vu ce que je me suis pris dans la figure entre tes parents et ta dépression. Mais ça, oublié aussi. En réalité, je pense que tu as vraiment de la chance d'avoir une fille comme moi pour ex, parce que crois-moi, c'est très loin d'être toujours le cas d'avoir quelqu'un de conciliant et soucieux de justice. Oui, je me jette un peu des fleurs, mais je le pense très honnêtement, si je tente de regarder avec objectivité et vu ce que j'ai vu lors de certains divorces.

Fin bon, je suppose que j'avais besoin de poser tout ça là parce que cela me pèse, et finalement heureusement que personne ne lit ici 😂.

Oui, ça me pèse de toujours passer pour la méchante alors que je me bats au quotidien pour trouver des solutions, ne serait-ce que pour me lever le matin.

Ça me pèse d'avoir la sensation de perdre la boule, de ne plus avoir de repères et de sans arrêt douter de mes choix. De me dire que ceux-ci ne sont rien d'autres qu' égoïstes. Parce que je ne mentirais pas, j'ai un cadre de vie confortable. Ça influe forcément. Et peut-être finalement que vu la situation, c'est totalement normal de devoir renoncer à l'amour romantique. 😔 Et que je n'aurai le droit d'en rêver que lorsque les choses iront mieux 🐌. Mais ça va, les hommes seront morts quand ça arrivera. 😅

Enfin bon. Voilà. Ma situation est compliquée, avec un ex dépressif, moi-même possiblement autiste, pas de boulot et pas de joli petit Q qui pourrait m'aider 😏. 😂. Peut-être que j'aurais dû investir sur le vieux finalement 😂 Quoi que vu l'état de sa clio, pas sûre que ce soit une bonne affaire 😂 *Humour bien sûr, je précise*. Je veux aimer pour de bonnes raisons.

M'enfin, j'essaie d'être réaliste mais la solitude, c'est dur ouais. Malgré tout.
