Someone wondered about if the Roma swedes ought to be called up to the national team. Roma is the "newly rich" in Italy. Juventus has been the Lyon and Wolfsburg in the league. It's just this season the other clubs have started to catch up to them with Roma leading the charge. And as always is a matter of getting playing minutes. It's probably even more crucial for players who have few or no call ups to the national team than it is for Angeldahl and Blomqvist who have been in the national team environment several times, have caps and who Gerhardsson knows what he can expect from. In his words, friendlies are good for testing players etc but in the competitive games it's a sharp situation where you need to win. With the Nations League games there won't be much room for testing many new players.

Keeper Öhrström has been played in Italy for ages. Pia called her up once but she declined after deciding it wasn't the right point in time for her with her personal life. Met the love of her life, moving in together, settling down in Italy.

Elin Landström has never been called up to the national team. Alva Selerud is a young talent who's been in Linköping since the days of Magda and Pernille, before she took the step abroad this year. Hasn't been called up for a look and not sure if she's been in the youth national teams.

Beata Kollmats was a really good CB for Gothenburg before a severe knee injury put a temporary halt to her knee injury. She had setbacks in rehab training and never played for Gothenburg/Häcken again. She's been with Roma for a while.

Keeper Emma Lind has been called up by Gerhardsson for a look or two.

Is everything now any players that are brought in post World Cup and into the nations league are going to be very selective. Obviously there are a few places where I think we can bring in some players in the periphery but in general the main part of the next couple of months after the World Cup is going to be qualifying for the Olympics and I don't think they're going to expand the player pool a whole lot during that period and if they it's gonna be very selective

Glad to see our Roma swedes get playing time. Alva Selerud who's just left Linköping, debuted in the 69' and four minutes later she made the assist for the 7-0 goal. Keeper Emma Lind, Beata Kollmats and Elin Landström started. Landström had an assist too.

Jag spenderade nästan sex timmar på Flixbussar på väg till och från Linköping i dag för att se toppmatchen mellan fjärdeplacerade LFC och andraplacerade KGFC. Linköping vann genom ett mål mav Stina Blackstenius som fick bollen i djupled i 70:e matchminuten efter en passning av Mimmi Larsson.

With Hedvig Lindahl and Jennifer Falk at home, the Swedish goalkeeper trio in Spanish Córdoba is newly composed.

Zecira Musovic, with five caps, will be in charge of the routine before Friday's training match. By her side, she has Emma Holmgren - who has never guarded the goal in the A national team but has been in a number of meetings - and the debutant Emma Lind.

- It's great fun to be here for the first time, says Lind on the phone from the heat in Andalusia.

- It is proof that the work I have put in has led somewhere.

27-year-old Emma Lind shares the goalkeeping duties in Italian Roma, the club that last week made it to the Champions League for the first time. But for most people at home on the TV sofas, she is a mystery, and unlike, for example, Emma Holmgren - who won gold in the F19 European Championship in 2015 - she has taken a different path to Peter Gerhardsson's squad.

The fact is that a young Lind, raised in Vadstena, was not selected for any youth national teams before she debuted at U23 level as a 23-year-old.

- It is clear that I have always wanted to be in a national team environment, both to develop and for the honor of representing my country. But I don't know why it turned out the way it did. I was in the wrong generation sometimes, it felt like, and I played in Vadstena – which is a smaller place.

- But it's not something I've attached much importance to, although it would have been fun to make a few steps before U23. But better late than never!

A total of eight U23 matches are on the merit list. Lind continues talking about what it means to now train with the A national team:

- I have always wanted to get here. And now I'm here, so then the goal will be to make an international match as well - eventually. It's a competitive situation just like everyone else. I may have a little bit longer way to go, but I'll just try to do the best I can and show that I'm worth this chance.

After growing up in Vadstena , she played in the elite team before she played in women's Swedish in Limhamn Bunkeflo and Rosengård. In 2021 she moved to Germany and made four Bundesliga appearances for Turbine Potsdam before it became Jitex at the end of last year and then Rome.

The Swedish team Roma, where veteran goalkeeper Stéphanie Öhrström and defenders Elin Landström and Beata Kollmats are also home, is second in the league after five rounds. This weekend it was 5-0 against Parma, with Emma Lind in goal.

- It's been going well, even if it takes some time to get into a new culture when you don't know the language properly. But I'm enjoying myself better and better and getting more and more playing time.

People ought to read this if they don't realise what it means to inherit a squad as a coach and that the first season will be a transition season from the old to the new. Especially when coaches move to a new country (read Jonas to Arsenal...) Jeglertz on Linköping's success: "Needed last year to build a base"

It could be argued that Andreé Jeglertz is the most successful coach of all time in the women's league. During his career in the Swedish top league, he has won four SM golds and one silver. In addition, he has been involved in winning a Champions League title.  

And before last year's season, Andreé returned to the women's league after twelve years - and now they are only seven rounds and two points behind league leader FC Rosengård in the hunt for the title.  

- Our goal has always been to be in the top three and that is not changing. But it goes without saying that it is fantastic fun that we are up there. After the performance we have had so far this season, there is no team that I would say is better than us. We will continue to have the top three goal and then I hope we win all our matches and then we will see where we land, he says to Fotbollskanalen.  

What is behind the success this season versus last season? - We wouldn't have had this year if we hadn't had last year. It's important to have with you, I think. We changed a bit and it takes time – the key is that it's not a quick fix. We wouldn't have had a successful season this year if we hadn't had last year, he says and continues:  

- For my part, after being away from the women's league for 12 years, I needed to find a way how the hell you win matches in the women's league 21/22. It's not the same way it was done in 2008 or 2009. Then you also have to figure out how to activate each player and maximize the style of play. What will be most successful? We needed last year to build a base.  

Olga  Ahtinen agrees.  

- We have created a game system that fits very well and it feels like we get a lot out of our players. Many people get to use their strengths and that has been important to us. The biggest key for us has been that we are constantly hungry to get better and we are never satisfied. We are ready to work on getting better and work hard when we come to the arena every day.  

Is that what lies behind the success? - I think that is a key. At the same time, there are many pieces that must fall into place in order to perform well over a period of time. But we can't take it for granted that we'll play well because we've done it – we want to constantly check what we've done well and what we can do better. We have a clear plan and have come further in tactics unlike last year. One of our strengths is that we play as a team.  

The players inherited Jeglertz when he came in - but while he was finding a way to play, he also had to find players who fit the system. Among others, Therese Simonsson, Cornelia Kapocs, Stina Lennartsson, Nellie Karlsson, Saori Takarada, Yuki Momiki and Amalie Vangsgaard have joined LFC. 

The latter came as a full-back but this season the Dane has played forward and is currently tops in the scoring league.  

- She was signed in because we lost Elin Landström and we needed a wingback and that's what she came in as. But I already knew, as I know her former coach, that she had been used as a forward. We had three players at the time who were better than her there, but we thought about how we could maximize her - and it's my job to look after her qualities. You have to get to know your players, it will be my task how do I maximize Amalie's qualities, how do I maximize Olga (Ahtinen), Stina Lennartsson. Which game style should we use, what requirements should I set. It will be my task to put them in the roles where we can maximize and where they can bring out their qualities. 

Not many experts had predicted before the season that Linköping would fight for the SM gold, Fotbollskanalen's Hanna Marklund placed LFC in fifth place.  

- It is easy to choose the other teams. We also have seven rounds left, we could very well end up in Hanna Marklund's position. The teams up there are quite tight so it could very well happen, but it won't take away from our performance as we have done this year although we would probably be quite disappointed.  

He further believes that Linköping, with its given history, does not overcome a disadvantage, LFC has won three SM golds in the past and aims to stay in the upper half of the table and be a top team. That's what triggers the head coach. 

- I think that all teams in the women's league can make a year that will be the year of wow. We have seen that. A team that is suddenly top two or top three. But what triggers me is that it takes time to get to where we are today, but it will also take time to become sustainable over time. I can't say that this will be fantastic if Linköping this year comes top three and next year comes ninth. Then it feels like no, then we haven't built anything. We have to build something that says Linköping is always in the top three discussion. That must be the thing about this association. That triggers me, not just that we have a great season and then it's a pancake. Then we have not succeeded.  

Linköping, like Eskilstuna United, has struggled with some financial problems over the years. But this season, it has not been noticed in the second table that they had something hanging over one.  

- I agree with. But it won't work over time. It's the same thing there. You can have an association that has no order and is a little unstructured and has some challenges on the side. Then you can still have a team that performs for a year, but over time the players don't work and the leaders will leave and then there will be problems, he says and continues:  

- After being away from the women's league for many years and coming back to hear that you have the same challenges as you had 15 years ago - it makes you think, haven't we come further in our clubs? Have we not built stronger organizations that can handle ups and downs? It must be that the organizations outside of what happens on the field must be at a higher level than what happens on the field. I feel that this is not always the case. Linköping also has its challenges, but here we have an ambition to become an established team and we work with it as an association. But we are also aware of making our organization stronger, otherwise we are building a castle in the air.

Efter att Linköpings FC har tappat lagkaptenen Frida Maanum som ska flytta utomlands blev det i dag även känt att Elin Landström lämnar LFC för spel utomlands. Silly season har inte ens börjat och Östgötskorna tappar två riktigt tunga pjäsar. 29-åriga Elin Landström kom 2018 från Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC och har hittills spelat 208 matcher i Damallsvenskan.
