Adopted as a baby, Elif was loved by her family and older sister. She grew up in Atlanta, knowing her parents were well respected individuals who were never unkind or cruel to get to where they were.

She had an eye for the arts as a child and the moment she picked up her dad's old slr camera, her heart was set on becoming a photographer.

Eventually that dream became a reality, her skills taking her far after college where she was contracted out as a photojournalist for various publications. Her proudest professional moment was the first time she was featured in National Geographic.

Despite traveling the world for work, her heart has always been at home with her family, especially her sister, Cricket, and her two boys. She'd send postcards from every new place she traveled and would come home after long stints away.

She's most recently been gone for a year, covering a war torn region of the world. It's been hard, taking a toll on the otherwise upbeat Elif.

Once her contract ended, she decided she wanted to be with family again and came home.

She's currently living downtown with a roommate and freelancing for the Atlanta Times and some digital publications. It's not as glamorous as her globe-trotting but it's better for her now, and she argues that's more important.
