With that said, it's become a custom for everyone to gather, huh Nozomi: The more the merrier, no? Eli: Fufu, that's true. So, did you win the rock paper scissors to be the one to pick me up, Nozomi? Nozomi: I.... came here before the rock paper scissors. I can't possibly let go of being the first one to congratulate you, Elichi Eli: Playing unfair, aren't you? Even though you're their senior Nozomi: It's exactly at times like these that we should use our senior authority. Hey, Elichi, happy birthday. From the bottom of my heart, I pray that you have a wonderful everyday, Elichi Eli: My, just praying? Let's spend those wonderful everyday together Nozomi: Fufu, you're right. I'll never let you go, okay!

Watching Nico and Maki head for the airport exit, Eli rubbed her bicep where Nico had punched. "Did you ever imagine you'd see Maki meekly following along after Nico."

"I see two people walking into their future side by side, working as a team."

Eli could hear the hurt in Nozomi's voice, feel the concern in the hands touching her everywhere, searching for a harm, Nozomi still desperate to ease the worries the Tower card had dropped on her head.

"Nontan." Eli grabbed both of Nozomi's hands in one of hers, the other hand under Nozomi's chin, so Eli could meet the teary gaze with one of her own.

Nozomi shook her head, took her hands back, "I need you to have a reading, I don't know…I have my cards"

"Nozomi."

Nozomi was surprisingly fast. Eli had to skip around her, become a solid obstacle.

"Let me explain."

Nozomi hung her head, "You didn't trust me."

"I didn't trust me, Nontan. If I'd talked to you…I went to Russia to talk to Babulya…and then I met this woman when we were at the Mariinsky …"

Nozomi went stiff.

"And we talked about Japanese ballet, Balanchine, a home for Russian artists who can't support the government…and she knew about Muse and Bibi and offered me a job. And Babulya…"

"And Babulya what?"

Eli sighed, "Babulya told me I wasn't ready if I couldn't talk to you first about the job. But I knew your parents dragged you around everywhere, didn't give you home. And I want to give you a home, Nozomi, more than anything else. But I can't do that if I'm not me. I made that mistake once." Eli's eyes blazed with conviction. "And I'm not that stupid, crying high schooler anymore."

Nozomi never could stand anyone taking shots at Eli. "You were never stupid."

Eli shrugged.

"What does your grandmother think you're not ready for."

A long stare. Eli reaching inside her jacket. A small box in graceful fingers. Nozomi gasped. Eli smiled as she knelt. "Don't faint yet."

"Elichi…"

"Nozomi, I'm a fool and a coward and I wanted to do this so much better. But I love you more than life, your heart is the only treasure I have, your beauty my sunrise and sunset, and I want our life, our family, and our home, your home to be everywhere I go. I know your pa…"

Nozomi shook her head as her finger silenced Eli, who nodded. Then Nozomi took the finger away and Eli raced through her finish.

"Your home is with me. With you I can achieve all of my dreams and help you achieve all of yours. With you…" Eli was choking back tears, suddenly not sure of Nozomi's answer.

Nozomi was on her knees, arms reaching out for Eli, pulling her in. "You're the bravest person, the best partner, Elichi, nothing could shatter our love."

Eli inhaled, one last effort. "This is my grandmother's ring, I asked her for it because even if I may not be ready for marriage, we are, together. Please, take this and cherish it, like I plan to cherish you."

"Elichi." Nozomi whispered.

"I love you, Ayase Nozomi."

The ring, warm from Eli's tight grip, slipped over Nozomi's knuckle, settling into a groove that was meant for it. Nozomi started shaking. This was the Tower collapsing. And Eli's strong arms were there, holding her together. And travelers passed by, and smiled or stared, but Nozomi knew from her heart thudding in an unbreakable rhythm with Eli's, that even here, even if this sanctuary existed for only five or fifteen minutes, with Eli, she was home safe.
