Posting this here since I keep having to write it out again and again:

The German Non Nominative Spot: Seitz vs Kevric

A lot of people don't want to accept that a fixture of international gymnastics like Eli Seitz could be passed over for a first year senior but I think if the Germans go by numbers and not by sentiment it would be difficult for anyone in the German field to beat a healthy Helen Kevric.

Her German Youth Championship AA scores:

2023: 54.467

2022: 54.168

She also put up a 53.900 at an international event so the German domestic scores aren't that out of line.

The German senior national champions AA scores

2023: 52.700 (Seitz) - Seitz's best AA of the quad was a 53.200 at the first German World's Test this year.

2022: 53.200 (Voss)

Seitz was putting up bars scores between 14.2-14.4 with around a 6.1 D score pre injury this year.

Kevric was putting up between a 14.0-14.4 with a 5.8 D score this year without any skills over E. When you watch her routines you can see the obvious place holders for upgrades and people who know the Stuttgart gym say that she does have the upgrades in training.

If she can match Eli's bars ... it would be hard to justify leaving her at home.

🌈☔️ for the TTRPG ask!

Hello! Thank you for the ask (from this ask game)!

I'm not sure how to interpret ☔️ for our store, so I'm going to take the opportunity to answer 🌈 twice!

🌈 Share your favourite class/playbook from one of your games (name the game, or let me choose).

First I'd love to talk about here, there, be monsters! written by Wendi Yu and published by @soulmuppet. It's a game about being monsters and fighting back against those who would hunt you.

here, there, be monsters! has 100 different backgrounds to choose from, from all kinds of folklore and culture and genre, and all of them are very good.

But my favorite is absolutely Sapient Fungus.

Fungus is weird! and it's absolutely delightful to me to play as a big collection of the stuff figuring out what it means to be a person and punching fascists along the way. Also, it features the classic "you cannot kill me in a way that matters" line, which is really fun to me. Extremely good game.

Next up, Thursday by Eli Seitz. Thursday is a game about time loops, drama, and learning from your mistakes. There are only four playbooks in it, but each one perfectly emulates a piece of the time loop genre. My favorite is the trendsetter.

Thursday runs on the Belonging Outside Belonging system, which is GM-less and diceless, using a token system to manage complications and tension. The strong moves in each playbook cost a token to preform, while weak moves gain you a token when you choose to do them, and regular moves are things your character can always do.

With that in mind, I really enjoy the trendsetters move list. "Ask someone else, 'What do you regret?'" is just a really fantastic move to have in a time loop game, a genre that is all about the things that haunt your characters. Combined with all the other bits of the playbook, the move list gives a really clear idea of what kind of person the trendsetter is while still leaving plenty of room for you to make them your own.

Went to watch worlds in Antwerp in 2013 and met one (1) gymnast: Ellie Black. I'm pretty sure she's the only gymnast who made finals there competing at worlds this year (just checked, Eli Seitz is the only other one). With any luck she'll be there again next year and she'll get redemption for her fall in the 2013 floor final.
