The Stolen Heir (The Stolen Heir Duology #1) by Holly Black
Tumblr media
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy Romance
Publishing Date: January 3, 2023
Synopsis:
Return to the opulent world of Elfhame, filled with intrigue, betrayal, and dangerous desires, with this first book of a captivating new duology from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black.
A runaway queen. A reluctant prince. And a quest that may destroy them both.
Eight years have passed since the Battle of the Serpent. But in the icy north, Lady Nore of the Court of Teeth has reclaimed the Ice Needle Citadel. There, she is using an ancient relic to create monsters of stick and snow who will do her bidding and exact her revenge.
Suren, child queen of the Court of Teeth, and the one person with power over her mother, fled to the human world. There, she lives feral in the woods. Lonely, and still haunted by the merciless torments she endured in the Court of Teeth, she bides her time by releasing mortals from foolish bargains. She believes herself forgotten until the storm hag, Bogdana chases her through the night streets. Suren is saved by none other than Prince Oak, heir to Elfhame, to whom she was once promised in marriage and who she has resented for years.
Now seventeen, Oak is charming, beautiful, and manipulative. He’s on a mission that will lead him into the north, and he wants Suren’s help. But if she agrees, it will mean guarding her heart against the boy she once knew and a prince she cannot trust, as well as confronting all the horrors she thought she left behind.

On the end of the year book ask, questions 3 and 16! I hope you have a great upcoming holiday season.💖
Thank you!
3. What were your top five books of the year?
As of right now (note that this doesn't include rereads):
Little Thieves and Painted Devils by Margaret Owen (which I count together because they are a series)
The Travelling Cat Chronicles of Hiro Arikawa
Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett
The Professor Is In by Karen Kelsky
Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente
16. What is the most over-hyped book you read this year?
I don't really think I read any over-hyped books really. Maybe How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black. It wasn't bad or anything (I gave it 3.5 stars), I just found it unnecessary. I don't really know if I'd call it over-hyped though. 🤷‍♀️

Buy here: 📚
I just bought these and they are amazing!!! I was so happy with my purchase and I feel like this is a fantastic detail in my home now. I’m a big fan of having magnets and nick knacks that turn your house into something that is so obviously yours. People make a big deal in my family about things being childish or that it’s ridiculous to care so deeply about fiction worlds but I dont care. These little magnets make me happy and I am so glad I found them while just browsing around on Etsy as cheesy as that may sound.

Am I the only one who can see Cardan Greenbriar and Magnus Bane being Fabulous Immortal Besties??? Like-
Better fashion sense than everyone else ✓
Incredibly Powerful Kings (figuratively/literally) ✓
Genuinely caring men with hearts of gold ✓
Truly, madly, deeply and completely in love with their S/Os ✓
Dramatic af and Extra™ ✓
Having quite a long history of lovers/flings ✓
Affinity for Parties and Drinks ✓
That's all I can remember for now but I'm sure there are more similarities. (Feel free to add)
But I think I have proved my point. These two would totally vibe with each other. They'd be best friends!!
